6. The Judgement Is Set
By John Thiel, The Consummation of the Everlasting Covenant Conference, Study 6, mp3
The last ten studies have depicted the everlasting covenant in application. We went into the details in regards to the everlasting covenant in regards to the rock experience of Jesus Christ. That rock that depicted to us the encounter we make with God in the fact that our sins were taken by him in living realities. As we embrace that picture and see I am associated with that rock and I accept that rock and am broken, God lifts us up again and binds up our broken heartedness and applies the balm of Gilead. This everlasting covenant that God had foreseen is rejected by some and accepted by others. We saw how this everlasting covenant is played back and forward by others where those who build on the rock become living stones in the temple of the Lord.
Those who fabricate the pure representations of God’s word build another temple, a counterfeit. We saw how Satan is at work how he is trying to obliterate and destroy this true realisation by wiping out those who accept it. So that the false one could be exonerated so that people like Abel have suffered all the way down the line but God is safe guarding his rock, his temple. The people who have fallen on the rock and who have been bound up and who have responded to this everlasting covenant are now addressed in Revelation 14. These people living at such a time in which this message was first introduced and thereafter is addressed.
Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
The everlasting covenant is now being expanded into the announcement that the hour of God’s judgement is come.
The Hour of God’s Judgement Is Come
This affects our mind as we recall the everlasting covenant that was in existence from how long?
1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
Jesus was truly foreordained before the foundation of the world. The everlasting covenant was from eternity in Gods mind. To not only know that it is there but to experience it is there.
Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
The revised version says, kept in silence through times eternal. From everlasting this covenant has been in God’s mind.
God had a knowledge of the events of the future, even before the creation of the world. He did not make His purposes to fit circumstances, but He allowed matters to develop and work out. He did not work to bring about a certain condition of things, but He knew that such a condition would exist. {6BC 1082.3}
Is God a manipulator? Don’t you love him? Stop to take it in. He manipulates nothing.
He did not work to bring about a certain condition of things, but He knew that such a condition would exist. The plan that should be carried out upon the defection of any of the high intelligences of heaven–this is the secret, the mystery which has been hid from ages. And an offering was prepared in the eternal purposes to do the very work which God has done for fallen humanity (ST March 25, 1897). {6BC 1082.3}
If he did that for fallen humanity, would he have done it for Lucifer? The principle that we have been studying is that he everlasting covenant existed before he had created any intelligence like Lucifer and humanity, he knew that the defection of high intelligences would take place. Not that he manipulated it to take place, he knew it would take place. Therefore in his mind he prepared for that terrible reality. We are not merely looking at the theory of the theology of our subjects, we are called upon to experience these things.
The plan for our redemption was not an afterthought, a plan formulated after the fall of Adam. It was a revelation of “the mystery which hath been kept in silence through times eternal.” Romans 16:25, R. V. It was an unfolding of the principles that from eternal ages have been the foundation of God’s throne. From the beginning, God and Christ knew of the apostasy of Satan, and of the fall of man through the deceptive power of the apostate. God did not ordain that sin should exist, but He foresaw its existence, and made provision to meet the terrible emergency. So great was His love for the world, that He covenanted to give His only-begotten Son, “that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. {DA 22.2}
This is the God we worship, how innocent and unpolluted in any way. This mystery of the everlasting covenant is displayed in the investigative judgement. The hour of his judgement is come. His mentality is to be manifested and that is what is meant by the hour of his judgement is come. The beneficiaries of the everlasting covenant are called upon to give the glory to him. To understand and examine this investigation is our occupation for the next 14 subjects. When does the judgement commence? Recall 2 Thessalonians. Apostle Paul says don’t let anyone trouble you in regards to the second coming till the man of sin be revealed. These are the mental exercises of experience so they can be recalled again and again so we can retain our experience.
2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
The process of time must unfold until the consummation because the word consummation means something that comes in consequence of it in regards to fruition. The history of the prophecies we have been covering and those killing machines through history, as he was looking at the one with the horns he saw a little horn.
Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. 9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
God is surrounded by myriads of witnesses who had no knowledge of his everlasting covenant and so this everlasting covenant must be revealed. The hour of investigation was commenced how? By the books being opened. Why do you have books? If God was not such a being, he wouldn’t need books, he would be a dictator. He has books of record to demonstrate.
The Unfolding of 2 Thessalonians
Daniel 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth
Wait until he is revealed.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy [it] unto the end.
We know this is speaking about the papal system which has been permitted to exercise itself for 1260 years which culminated in 1798 which was followed immediately after that by the investigative judgment. After the full development of the papal power, there was an investigation.
Revelation 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him. 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two month. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
The books were opened and the people who worship that system will not have their names written in the book of life. After 1798 the judgement will reveal something in the books of investigation. What will they reveal?
Revelation 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters; 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
I will show you the judgement of the whore. Is that what the books reveal? For those of you who have heard my presentation called ‘The Internet Headquarters of the Universe’, what does God have in the heavenly sanctuary? Living pictures like we have today. You can transfer on internet living pictures can’t you. That is the way it is in heaven. The books of heaven are living delineations of everything that goes on in this earth.
The Books Are Open
What do these books reveal? They reveal all who have entered the service of God. How many? All who have entered the service of God are recorded in those books.
Revelation 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
Some people can’t quite agree with this but do you believe that Jezebel is written in the books of heaven? According to what we read, he gave her space to repent. When did he give her space to repent? In the period of Pergamos. Was she serving there before she fell? Was she recorded in the books? All who have ever entered the service of God were recorded there. She sat in God’s church in a high lofty place. In the period of Pergamos did Jezebel the woman believe in Jesus? Absolutely. In the books of heaven everything is recorded.
As the books of record are opened in the judgment, the lives of all who have believed on Jesus come in review before God. Beginning with those who first lived upon the earth, our Advocate presents the cases of each successive generation, and closes with the living. Every name is mentioned, every case closely investigated. Names are accepted, names rejected. When any have sins remaining upon the books of record, unrepented of and unforgiven, their names will be blotted out of the book of life, and the record of their good deeds will be erased from the book of God’s remembrance. The Lord declared to Moses: “Whosoever hath sinned against Me, him will I blot out of My book.” Exodus 32:33. And says the prophet Ezekiel: “When the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, . . . all his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned.” Ezekiel 18:24. {GC 483.1}
On the record are sins not repented of. They were the faithful church in the period of Pergamos and that city that was once faithful then degenerated into what?
Isaiah 1:21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
It was Satan who managed to use the woman, the faithful woman and turn her into a harlot that he was able to develop another killing machine by such a people. That was recorded in the books as she was once a faithful city. The judgement reveals all that. The city that was once faithful has become a harlot. As it is recorded there in reference to the city once faithful that has become a harlot;
Isaiah 65:2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way [that was] not good, after their own thoughts;
65:3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
65:4 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable [things is in] their vessels;
65:5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These [are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
65:6 Behold, [it is] written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,
65:7 Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
Whose names will be removed out of the book of life? They had them there and they have been removed. Why? As God said to Moses, blot out my name. What did God say to him? He said I can’t do that, I can only blot out the names of whom?
Exodus 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
The books record all. Aside from the mothers and daughters, she was a mother of harlots and the repetition as we saw of decency in every succeeding generation was the daughters and that is all recorded in the books of heaven but recorded as we read. Every name is mentioned, every case closely investigated, every individual means you and me. What the system does and what you do as an individual is all recorded. All have sinned and it’s all recorded but what else is to be recorded? If we as individuals have embraced the everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David who did many more sins than some of these papal prelates. Why were they discharged and he wasn’t? Because he embraced the everlasting covenant. The understanding of the sinner such as David makes the difference. He could only get that understanding as he looked into the sanctuary. David understood the everlasting covenant.
Psalms 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
51:2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin [is] ever before me.
51:17 The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
That was the content of the everlasting covenant. That was the provision made for such as David that he would depend on the wonderful thought of the mystery of Gods everlasting covenant to make proviso for such an emergency of my grotty sins. In the books of record all the sins are exposed in the judgement. This was depicted in Zechariah. This scene touches every genuine bible student who genuinely seeks to understand and love God.
Zechariah 3:1 And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
3:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: [is] not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
3:4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
3:5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
3:6 And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,
3:7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
It didn’t say I have taken iniquity away, it says I have caused it to pass from thee. Here is the description of the hour of God’s judgment and those standing by were looking at the living pictures were looking at the screen of the heavenly sanctuary. If the gospel of Jesus Christ to the repentant sinner is to remove and cause their sin to be removed then the promise is that if you will walk in my ways and keep my charge you will walk and have places among them that stand by. Those angels that are round the throne in this scene, we will have a place to be among them but before that the investigative judgement. Jesus was our representative there because he himself was dressed in our filthy garments. Is that right? It is a horrible thing to say but it is written.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
He clothed himself in our filthy garments, that we might wear the spotless robe of his righteousness, which was woven in the loom of heaven. {ST, May 30, 1895 par. 4}
In the causing of the removal of our sins we behold Jesus taking my corruption as a garment and covering himself with it so that I might be covered with his righteousness. What a story. He came to the ancient of days and did that.
All who have truly repented of sin, and by faith claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice, have had pardon entered against their names in the books of heaven; as they have become partakers of the righteousness of Christ, and their characters are found to be in harmony with the law of God, their sins will be blotted out, and they themselves will be accounted worthy of eternal life. {GC 483.2}
It means I believe that Jesus has really dressed himself with my corruption and as I go through my experience I have him right beside me and I offload all my corruption on him. As I truly believe then through that repenting exercise I have pardoned entered against my name. That was all in the mind of God before it happened.
While Jesus is pleading for the subjects of His grace, Satan accuses them before God as transgressors. The great deceiver has sought to lead them into skepticism, to cause them to lose confidence in God, to separate themselves from His love, and to break His law. Now he points to the record of their lives, to the defects of character, the unlikeness to Christ, which has dishonored their Redeemer, to all the sins that he has tempted them to commit, and because of these he claims them as his subjects. {GC 484.1}
Jesus does not excuse their sins, but shows their penitence and faith, and, claiming for them forgiveness, He lifts His wounded hands before the Father and the holy angels, saying: I know them by name. I have graven them on the palms of My hands. {GC 484.2}
Oh to believe that everlasting covenant and to exercise that faith is what the judgment is calling for us to do. Give God the glory by doing that
Song of Solomon 6:8 There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.
All those women throughout the history starting with the Jewish church, the woman that was once faithful and became a harlot, right through the ages till now every succeeding generation left behind another woman, another queen. Virgins without number are the splintered companies off the woman.
Song of Solomon 6:9 My dove, my undefiled is [but] one; she [is] the [only] one of her mother, she [is] the choice [one] of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; [yea], the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
6:10 Who [is] she [that] looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, [and] terrible as [an army] with banners?
That is what the judgment reveals. As the books are opened everything is outlined from generation to generation in those books and those who are now living, those who are in tune, the 144,000 are to be developed into my dove, my undefiled being, that one. A judgement since 1844 is to decide to the consummation. Since 1844 events and experiences have taken place which we will examine over the next following subjects. It is all written in the great book of the I AM. We have an opportunity to know where we are actually standing. May God help us to understand. He who readeth let him understand.
Amen.
