The Serpent on the Pole – Faithful/Unfaithful Ministry
John Thiel mp3
We are gathered together here are we not to worship God? This is the hour of worship. Not just to study, but to worship. What is acceptable worship to God? Jesus announces that in His interview with the woman at the well. I am fascinated with the description given as the parallel is vivid to our time. At a time when the churches that claim to be held of God like in the time of Christ, there were the Samaritans, the Jews in Jerusalem, they were all claiming to be Israel. They were all claiming to be Gods church. Amongst them were the pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes and different groups. Isn’t it the same today? There is this woman from Samaria and she is addressing Jesus and He is talking to her.

Scripture Reading: Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
I wish to share with you a very important thought because I understand all of you who are gathered here have a united stand on the subject of Daniel chapter 11 and the king of the north.
This subject has been bandied about amongst modern Adventism with so many conflicting views. Not only this subject, but so many others of the original Adventist message that has been left to go astray in the minds of modern Adventism today. Because of the big discussions to and fro on some of some of these subjects, there are many people that say nowadays – “ah, is it really so important? I’m tired of the of the discussion and of the conflict on these subjects; let’s concentrate on salvation.”

Scripture Reading: Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Scripture Reading: Habbukuk 2:1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
The hunger and thirst for people to see Jesus coming in their lifetime was checked:
2 Thessalonians 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

This baptism subject as we had been previously researching is a subject poorly understood in this age of the world. That is when it was written back there in Sr White’s time. She said this is the reason for so many perplexities in the churches. Many, so many have been baptised but they were buried alive. Self did not die. Therefore they did not rise to newness of life in Christ.

What is righteousness?
Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.
All God’s commandments are righteousness. It is expanded that righteousness is doing and obeying the commandments of God. That is what righteousness is. What else is the law? If you want to understand the Ten Commandments, it is in the life of Christ. This is the foundation of which our character is to be built. Our character building is to be after the pattern shown thee in the mount. God has given us the pattern; the law is the great standard of righteousness. This is the pattern that we are to build our character from.

This verse in Psalm leaves you without a doubt what righteousness is meant to be:
Psalm 119:138 Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
The margin says righteousness. If you want a plain proof text of what is righteousness, it is His commandments.
Psalm 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Psalm 119:144The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

In Revelation 7, the angel is saying to the four angels hold the four winds of strife till we have sealed the servants of our God in their forehead.
Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
The truth shall make you free. These are the words of Jesus and they are exactly what they say. The truth shall make you free. It is my intention at this time to spend time together in contemplating the words of Jesus as they are written in John.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
The Pharisees as usual, did not understand what Jesus meant. He had to tell them that He who committeth sin is the servant of sin. He is a bond servant to sin. He can’t help himself. Jesus is able to make us free but how did He put it in the beginning? You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

One thing I of the Lord desire,
I watch to shun the miry way,
And staunch the springs of guilty thought;
But, watch and struggle as I may,
Pure I am not, pure I am not.
As we were singing this hymn, does this resonate with you? You desire for your paths. You desire to be clean, pure and overcome and yet as you so desire, you watch to shun the miry way and stanch the springs of guilty thought but watch and struggle as I may, pure I am not. How do you feel about that reality? Are you sometimes on the verge of desponding that you are ever going to make it? Children, is it easy for you to do exactly what God wants you to do? Are you discovering the challenge of reaching perfection? This meditation we are about to engage in is for you. As historic seventh day Adventists, Adventists of the old school, we believe do we not in sinless perfection? That is what we are reaching out for are we not? That is the doctrine of seventh day Adventism to come through the time of the judgement and have our characters pure, the books of record there with the perfection of Christian character in place. Where is the doctrine written? Is that scriptural? Firstly the words of Jesus in Matthew 5 where Jesus says plainly and simply:

How to Study the Bible
By John Thiel
Why study the bible? So we can see eye to eye.
Isaiah 52:8-11 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.
God is leading out a people, and bringing them into the unity of the faith, that they may be one, as he is one with the Father. Various views and differences of opinion must be yielded, that all may come in union with the body, that they may have one mind and one judgment. RH May 6, 1862, par. 3
John 17: That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
To be at one.
Isaiah 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

2021 Conference – The Gathering of God’s Jewels
We have appreciated words of inspiration to the people who were the jewels that had gathered together through the message of the three angels – the first angel’s message proclaiming the everlasting gospel, which is the everlasting covenant that was to inscribe God’s law in our hearts.
As the early believers in the advent message came through their point of disappointment and proceeded from there under the guidance of the Lord, we also discovered that the human factor comes in and plays havoc with what God is doing. The human factor gets excited for a while and when the excitement wears of they become slack. This is what we have seen.

Where are we in God’s plan? Where are we positioned in time? Where are we positioned in prophetic fulfillment?
Luke 21:25-36 – The description of the time of the end that Jesus is making here.
Luke 21:25And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. 29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
