2. Prophetic Panorama
By John Thiel, The Consummation of the Everlasting Covenant Conference, Study 2, mp3
Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: 27 To God only wise, [be] glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
These words are extremely relevant to our topic of this conference, the everlasting covenant being addressed as the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret. The American Revised Version reads ‘which was kept in silence through times eternal.’ That was the rendition in the writings of the Spirit of prophecy. We are seeking to understand the everlasting covenant.
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Why are we partaking of this topic? Because God has chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the world. When was the foundation of the world put in place in this universe? When God created the heavens and the earth was the earth there already? Yes. What was it? It was without form and void. It was a form of water. Just water. The foundation was there already. We don’t know when it was that the Lord put the foundation there but it was before the foundation of the world that God had that covenant in his mind. We have already been predestined because God knew everything that was going to come to pass before it came to pass from eternity. Try to understand this God we are worshipping. Can you? He will try and help us. Romans coincides perfectly with Ephesians.
Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
Has he power to stablish you he has already foreseen? You get the true understanding of Ephesians that before the foundation of the world through times eternal a mystery kept in silence but is now made manifest. Its eternal existence is now being made manifest. We are going to see some marvellous manifestations. Things we already know but things we may need to enlarge and appreciate.
The central theme of the Bible, the theme about which every other in the whole book clusters, is the redemption plan, the restoration in the human soul of the image of God. From the first intimation of hope in the sentence pronounced in Eden to that last glorious promise of the Revelation, “They shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads” (Revelation 22:4), the burden of every book and every passage of the Bible is the unfolding of this wondrous theme,–man’s uplifting,–the power of God, “which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57. {Ed 125.2}
This is what the whole Bible is about. Whatever subject you want to study in the Bible, it is the great theme in the scriptures.
He who grasps this thought has before him an infinite field for study. He has the key that will unlock to him the whole treasure house of God’s word. {Ed 126.1}
God can help you understand. What is this statement saying? It is saying if you are appreciative of the fact that the great mystery that has been hid from eternity in the mind of God, if this is the great theme in the Bible if you appreciate this thought, then you will have the key that will unlock to you the whole treasure house of God’s word. I want to testify that this is true. I am here to testify of this as this is what the Lord has done for me. This is the reason why we have pursued this theme because we will discover a treasure house we have never seen before. I have often been swept off my feet as I have seen this theme unravelling. As I was preparing for this conference my brain nearly overheated because of the treasure house opened up before me. I pray that God will do it for us all as we continue to pursue this. Its eternal existence, this plan of God to restore the human being, every single one of us he has planned for if we respond. It has existed eternally. God had you in mind from eternity. What a thought. Don’t you feel it when you look back at your life and the Lord has put certain experiences in your path to try and turn you toward him before you had any response to him? Some have testified to that from where you have come from. Back there the Lord has done something as he had you in mind from eternity. We will see it as we continue to study prophecy. Daniel 11 blows my mind every time. The detail of even Cleopatra was nailed down in that prophecy before it ever happened and where Jesus Christ would be born, the time in which he would be born, everything was outlined in detail.
The Eternal Existence
Revelation 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and [there was] a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
The God who sits upon his throne has a rainbow around the throne. What does the rainbow mean? This is when God gave the planet a rainbow as before the flood there was no rainbow.
Genesis 9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which [is] between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember
What is the rainbow? It is the sign of the covenant, the everlasting covenant kept in secret from times eternal. It was around God’s throne from the very beginning from all creation. Because he knew that if he was going to create intelligences that were akin to his intelligence there is a high possibility of an insurrection in his kingdom so he had the covenant right there in the beginning.
The Great Covenant, the Everlasting Covenant
The salvation of the human race has ever been the object of the councils of heaven. The covenant of mercy was made before the foundation of the world. It has existed from all eternity, and is called the everlasting covenant. So surely as there never was a time when God was not, so surely there never was a moment when it was not the delight of the eternal mind to manifest His grace to humanity. {FLB 76.4}
Isn’t that profound? We cannot get our finite minds around this concept. We need the Holy Spirit to be able to grasp it. I want to explore with you the unfolding of this covenant in prophecy. We are going to do prophetic research. We are not going to go into deep study as a lot of it has already been studied and we have it in picture form, but we are going to be looking at the unfolding of this everlasting covenant in prophecy. What in reality is prophecy? A lot of people study prophecy and they get very cocky and sure of the future by studying prophecy but what in reality is prohpecy?
Revelation 19:10 …for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
What are the first words in Revelation 1? What is the prophetic book of Revelation? It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Is that right? How many people lay aside the book of Revelation and say it’s too hard? Then Jesus Christ is too hard, that is what they are saying.
Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:
1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
1:3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.
Blessed are they and how few people are blessed as they don’t go into the detail of the book of Revelation. They say we can’t understand that. Blessed are they and how few people are blessed as they don’t go into the detail of Revelation. They say we can’t go into that. Prophecy is the everlasting covenant. It is the revelation of Jesus Christ the everlasting covenant. It is the key that unlocks the treasure house of God. If you will study prophecy what will happen? The day star will arise in your hearts. There are not many people that find the day star rising in their hearts when they study prophecy. They claim prophetic prowess over others but the day star isn’t arising there at all. The day star Jesus Christ is to arise in our hearts. See what Jesus did when he was talking to his disciples who had been so confused by the events of his death and thought that all their hopes were devastated forever, they were completely depressed. Then comes Jesus on the road to Emmaus and he unfolds to them the realities of himself and everything that had happened.
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These [are] the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and [in] the prophets, and [in] the psalms, concerning me.
24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
Where did he go in reference to himself and his death and resurrection and ongoing labour for our salvation? To the Law of Moses and to the prophets and Psalms. How many people read the Psalms for wonderful devotion and they never get the prophecies contained Psalms? There is such a treasure house that is found in the scriptures when our mind is focused upon this grand theme of the everlasting covenant throughout the scriptures. The unveiling of the everlasting covenant, when was it that the first prophetic intonation was brought to the attention of humanity? Genesis 3:15. It was the first prophecy. It was going to happen that the woman’s seed would bruise the serpents head. That prophecy continued to unfold.
The Woman’s Seed
Here is a picture of the woman’s seed form the time that Jesus had been on earth with a suggestion of before he was even born to the woman.
Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
Is the fruition of the prophecy of Genesis 3:15? A woman? Is she there? That was the woman that was prophesied that would crush the serpents head and she had twelve stars. That was the twelve disciples and the twelve tribes of Israel. That takes us to the time of Abraham and here in chapter 12 and right through is this panorama introduced. It takes you right through to the very end. You see it at the end of Revelation 12. The church and twelve apostles were described as persecuted and right through to the very end in verse 17.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Here is a prophetic conclusion where you have the woman through the agesand it comes right through to the end now and it says the remnant of her seed. The woman is the church, then you have her seed and then you have the remnant of her seed. There is a prophetic picture that most people do not understand. They are always looking to the woman saying we are the woman, we are the church. When you get a woman claiming to be the church be careful because the woman is the church and then you have the seed and the remnant of her seed. That needs to be carefully studied especially just now as that is the prophetic detail of those that stand now.
From the beginning, faithful souls have constituted the church on earth. In every age the Lord has had His watchmen, who have borne a faithful testimony to the generation in which they lived. These sentinels gave the message of warning; and when they were called to lay off their armor, others took up the work. God brought these witnesses into covenant relation with Himself, uniting the church on earth with the church in heaven. He has sent forth His angels to minister to His church, and the gates of hell have not been able to prevail against His people. {AA 11.2}
His church exists today as it existed in the days after the fall of Adam and Eve and all that holy line that was God’s holy church. The faithful people are God’s church, the woman.
Through centuries of persecution, conflict, and darkness, God has sustained His church. Not one cloud has fallen upon it that He has not prepared for; not one opposing force has risen to counterwork His work, that He has not foreseen. {AA 11.3}
What a God we worship.
All has taken place as He predicted. He has not left His church forsaken, but has traced in prophetic declarations what would occur, and that which His Spirit inspired the prophets to foretell has been brought about. All His purposes will be fulfilled. His law is linked with His throne, and no power of evil can destroy it. Truth is inspired and guarded by God; and it will triumph over all opposition. {AA 11.3}
This is the prophetic treasure house that we are seeking to understand. If we lay down pride and self whether we are individuals or a church, we will discover that we are only God’s church if we are going to be faithful to all that God has revealed in his everlasting covenant. What was this mystery revealed for? For the obedience of faith, that is what it was revealed for. If I am going to be an obedient person that is part of Gods church that the gates of hell can’t stand against, then I need to appreciate the everlasting covenant. It is contained in the panoramic view of these prophecies. Let us spend some time to have a quick overview of this panorama. We saw it in Revelation 12. The Bible is full of prophecy. The first prophetic suggestion is in Genesis 3:15. What was next in prophecy in this overview? We touched on it in Genesis. The rainbow was a prophecy of the everlasting covenant. Have you seen it that way before? That the rainbow is a prophecy? It is a prophecy of the everlasting covenant.
The Prophecy to Abraham
Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Was that a prophecy? Absolutely. Can you see that prophecy is all through the Bible? When Jesus was walking on the road to Emmaus the disciples said, didn’t our heart burn within us as he took us through the prophecies? My heart burns all the time as I see this. Of course Abraham was given the prophecy intimated in Genesis 3:15. That was the prophecy of the seed.
Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be].
Here is another prophetic picture way back there when Jacob blessed Judah. There was a prophecy that Judah would continue to govern itself until Shiloh came and after Shiloh came what happened? They lost their rulership. This is a long ranging prophecy right through to that time way back there in Jacobs’s time.
The Development of Israel
Genesis 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land [that is] not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
15:14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
A prophecy of what? A prophecy of Jacobs’s family being in Egypt and multiplying in Egypt and staying there for 400 years. Then they would come forth out of Egypt and become a great nation was another prophecy of the seed of Abraham. Then we come to a prophecy that the majority of students of prophecy ignore especially those students who believe that Israel will come back and who believe in the millennium in which Israel will be ruled within by Christ on earth. Here is the prophecy that puts the right slant on it. This is the conclusion of all the blessings that God would give to Israel if they were faithful.
Deuteronomy 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do [them]:
28:14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, [to] the right hand, or [to] the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Here was a prophecy that Israel would be a world nation through whom God would work if they were faithful.
Deuteronomy 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
This is a prophecy that came true. The Jews did not follow God’s direction and all of Israel, they kept on faltering and going back and only the faithful continued. It speaks of the attack of the Romans whom they didn’t even know existed and they didn’t even exist at that time. The Romans developed a long time after that. A nation whose tongue you can’t understand. They would eventually surround their city and burn it down. That was prophesied way back there. The picture of this was picked up by the prophet Daniel.
Before the foundations of the earth were laid, the covenant was made that all who were obedient, all who should through the abundant grace provided, become holy in character, and without blame before God, by appropriating that grace, should be children of God. This covenant, made from eternity, was given to Abraham hundreds of years before Christ came. With what interest and what intensity did Christ in humanity study the human race to see if they would avail themselves of the provision offered. {FE 403.1}
Try to picture Jesus. He is anxious for the people. Can you imagine why he was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief? He was looking for people to respond and this prophecy in Deuteronomy 8 was the fruition that they were not going to accept him. Consequently the curses took place.
Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
How long shall be the vision of the daily and the transgression making desolate? The word sacrifice is added in verse 13 it is not in the original. Here is a vision that is being initiated and a question is being asked, how long is this desolation of Deuteronomy 28 going to go on for? Because of the unfaithfulness of the Israelites all these prophecies of their curses were going to go on and on and the Israelites were saying how long? How long are we going to go on through this? What was the answer?
Daniel 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
What does that mean? The explanation of this prophecy is found in Daniel 9:24-27. That part of the prophecy of the 2300 days is totally explained. It is none other than the description of the 2300 days. From the building and restoring of Jerusalem and the decree of Artaxerxes there were 2300 years. What a panoramic view. What an amazing picture is described. This is the period of time allotted to the Jews if they were faithful.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
In verse 27 Jesus was baptised and from that time there was given seven years. He was baptised and then crucified in the middle of the week and he shall cause the oblation and the sacrifice to cease. Then when Stephen was stoned the end of the seven weeks or 490 years, the covenant of Israel was concluded and that now left the rest of the prophecy right through to 1844 which is encompassed in for the overspreading of abominations that he shall make it desolate even until the consummation. That determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Daniel 7 describes that. In that scripture you are seeing this picture. You are seeing the lion of Babylon, the bear which is Medo Persia, the leopard which is Greece and the ugly looking beast which cannot be described which is Rome. You see it being connected with Daniel 2 which is the image. God is showing a panorama of detail, this great image. How long unto 2300 days 1844?
Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.
7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
Can you see the everlasting covenant coming into focus? Now this whole prophecy deals with God dealing with his seed and dealing with the serpents seed.
Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
This is just a panoramic view. We will go into the detail of this and what is meant. As the view has already been fulfilled in times past, it now comes into focus for the times of the judgement which Jesus comes where? Does he come to earth? No he comes to the ancient of days who is surrounded by his angels. He is there receiving the kingdom in the time of the judgment, 1844.
Daniel 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
You know these are the ten tribes of Europe. Out of those ten tribes from the history in the past, what powerful force came into existence?
Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Who is this talking about? The papacy. How long was the papacy able to have full control? 1260 years. Revelation describes the same thing and everything that follows thereafter. The papacy changed the times, they changed the Sabbath to Sunday. They changed the beginning of the day to 12 midnight. That was all their work. When was the beginning of the day? Sunset. They changed it all. They think to change it.
Dan 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy [it] unto the end.
Dan 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Here is the prophecy, a prophetic overview right through to the very end. You can see Revelation and Jesus Christ giving us the understanding of Daniel that we have just studied as he knew that this subject would be poorly understood and there would come a point in time because to Daniel it was said shut the book until the time of the end. Here in Revelation 10 you see precisely the picture of this that the book for Daniel was to be open to the understanding of the people.
Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
What is this angel doing?
Revelation 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
What does he say?
Revelation 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
He had in his hand a little book open. What did the angel say to John? He said take in verse 9.
Revelation 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
Now they thought it was all over when they studied Daniel and the 2300 years. They thought praise the Lord, the judgment was come but they make a terrible mistake. They expected the judgement was when Jesus came but the book of Daniel when it was opened and revealed it showed that Jesus went to the Ancient of days, he didn’t come to the earth. As a consequence of this bitter disappointment they had to go on preaching, all in prophecy. Notice this prophetic line up and this mystery hid from ages.
Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
The Mystery of God, That Great Mystery from Eternity
In the days of the seventh angel the seventh trumpet as you it described as the trumpet sounding, this was the history of the woes that would happen from the time of Christ right through to the end. They are terrible conflicts and wars because when you hear a trumpet blowing, what does a trumpet denote? War. The seventh angel is in Revelation.
Revelation 11:14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
11:16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
11:17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
That is the mystery of the everlasting covenant coming to its end.
Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
11:16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
We find it difficult to follow these things and we get a little bit tired but these heavenly beings are getting excited. Are you getting excited? It is so hard to follow this. This is why we try to make it as easy as possible to see the connection of this great panoramic view as the great mystery of the everlasting covenant coming to its fruition. Something that God had in mind before the creation was ever made that is now coming to its fruition. Isn’t that exciting? It is about to reach its consummation. People should become thrilled with it, at last. How long will this desolation take place? The seventh angel is going to deal with it.
Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
Jesus went to the ancient of days in the judgment. The temple was prepared in heaven and the Ark of the Covenant was seen. That was the beginning of the judgement of Daniel 7 and Daniel 8. In 1844 the sanctuary was opened and Jesus moved into the most Holy Place in the sanctuary and here in this prophetic drama is the everlasting covenant taking its course.
In holy vision, God revealed to Daniel light and truth that he had concealed from other men; and through his chosen servant this light has shone down through the ages, and will continue to shine to the end of time. {RH, May 13, 1884 par. 2}
How important it is to study the books of Daniel and Revelation and get it right. This sounding of the seventh angel is what we identified in Daniel that the consummation would take place. What is written in Revelation 19 in reference to the consummation at the sounding of the seventh angel? What do you see? Jesus coming on horseback. What is he conducting? Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword. what is he doing? He is ruling with a rod of iron. He is orchestrating behind the scenes. Remember the story of Elijah at Dothan when the enemy surrounded the city? He was surrounded by the enemy and he said master what should we do? Elijah said open your eyes and what did he see? The chariots of the Lord surrounding the city. If we would open our eyes as we see nations fighting an attack on God’s people what should we ask the Lord? Open my eyes, we will see God behind the scenes and Jesus with his many crowns. Here is the overview of this prophetic detail. Each segment of this panorama of prophecy is our study in one way or another. May the Holy Spirit draw near to illumine our minds to appreciate this wonderful Jesus the great I am. . Jesus was talking to the Jews.
john 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad.
Did Abraham see the panoramic view? He did. God showed him and now he speaks to them and he says;
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
What does that mean? I am means an eternal presence, the past, the present and the future are alike with God. He sees the most remote events of history.
I Am means an eternal presence; the past, present, and future are alike to God. He sees the most remote events of past history, and the far distant future with as clear a vision as we do those things that are transpiring daily. We know not what is before us, and if we did, it would not contribute to our eternal welfare. God gives us an opportunity to exercise faith and trust in the great I AM (Lt 119, 1895). {1BC 1099.5}
As we study these prophecies and we permit the Holy Spirit to show us, what is your privilege? God will help you to see the treasure house of his word.
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Is that where it stopped? Some people say we will never understand, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard. You will never understand. Is that what it says? That is not what it says. It says yes, the human eye cannot see but notice what it says in verse 10. The spirit searches all things, what things? The deep things of God that mystery hidden from eternity will be revealed.
1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
This panoramic view of careful prophetic Bible study will open to our minds the deep things of God. These prophecies are not there to be isolated in their own compartments. They are part of the mind of God. As you study that mind of God in the prophecies, you actually see the mind of the I am. You see the entire picture as you let the Holy Spirit remind you of each segment in the grand picture of Gods mind. It is a profound possibility. Revelation 14:6-12 has a panoramic view in a little chip – the three angel’s messages. Man can do it today, you just need a little chip and you have a world of discovery. Here it is in the three angels messages.
After Jesus opened the door of the most holy, the light of the Sabbath was seen, and the people of God were tested, as the children of Israel were tested anciently, to see if they would keep God’s law. {EW 254.2}
When Jesus went into the most holy place, it was opened and the people of God were tested on what? On the Sabbath. The Sabbath became clear, it was changed by the papacy and we have to go back to the Sabbath and as this continued.
I saw the third angel pointing upward, showing the disappointed ones the way to the holiest of the heavenly sanctuary. As they by faith enter the most holy, they find Jesus, and hope and joy spring up anew. I saw them looking back, reviewing the past, from the proclamation of the second advent of Jesus, down through their experience to the passing of the time in 1844. They see their disappointment explained, and joy and certainty again animate them. The third angel has lighted up the past, the present, and the future, and they know that God has indeed led them by His mysterious providence. {EW 254.2}
The past, present and future were all made abundantly clear to the children of God. Every detail of Gods panoramic revelation will be clear to our mind and the consummation will be participated in by us that we will be on the right side of the consummation.
Only under the direction of the Omniscient One shall we, in the study of His works, be enabled to think His thoughts after Him. {Ed 134.5}
The all-knowing one will come to us and will enable us to think his thoughts after him. That is something profound. The mystery of God should be finished in the time of the seventh trumpet.
Amen.
