Self Versus God’s Love Part 1

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

What is the will of God? We are often appealed to give God our will and to obey Him and to submit to Him. We often miss what actually is His will because we concentrate a little awry.

1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.19 Quench not the Spirit. Read the rest of this entry

Are My Sins Forgiven?

Audio: mp3

“In the blood from the cross, I have been washed from sin.” Much of Christianity today leaves it at that. That day of rejoicing when Jesus took my sins away, oh happy day! But to be free from dross, Still I would enter in. Deeper yet …The Lord is trying to prepare a people who will reflect His character to the world. It is written that when He sees His image perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. The very fact that He has not come yet is because His image is not yet perfectly reproduced. The reason His image is not perfectly reproduced yet is because His image needs to be restored from such a decrepit state. Man in the beginning, was created in the image of God, but through the transgression of Adam and Eve, man was in a sense recreated in the image of Satan. The possibilities that man had to develop a perfect character were rendered practically impossible except through the mercy of God. Read the rest of this entry

Understanding God’s Will of Love

Scripture Reading:

Legalistic Austerity

How real is the hymn – One Thing I of the Lord Desire. Do you? Such desire, such yearning to be pure to be clean. As we go on week by week and year by year under this message, we still find something that falls short and we need cleaning and washing. We don’t know what it is any more to come into a complete and fulfilling victory that we would stop sinning. We appreciated last week that God has illuminated us with an understanding that it is the will that needs to be placed upon God’s will. Today I want to go further in understanding God’s will of love. A heart that has fallen in love with God, it yearns to do God’s will; is that not right? I love God so much I want to… that is my desire. That is what this hymn was describing; I want to be in perfect harmony with God’s will yet because sin is there, it is a condition in us.

Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: Read the rest of this entry

Tale Bearing and Gossip

0806080

You may feel it no sin to gossip and talk nonsense, but this grieves your Saviour, and saddens the heavenly angels. {KC 64.1}

Those who criticize and condemn one another are breaking God’s commandments, and are an offense to Him. They neither love God nor their fellow beings. Brethren and sisters, let us clear away the rubbish of criticism and suspicion and complaint, and do not wear your nerves on the outside. Some are so sensitive that they cannot be reasoned with. Be very sensitive in regard to what it means to keep the law of God, and in regard to whether you are keeping or breaking the law. It is this that God wants us to be sensitive about (GCB April 1, 1903). Read the rest of this entry

WHAT EVIDENCE OF CHRIST DOES THE PAGAN LENTULUS GIVE?

(Contents of a letter sent by Publius Lentulus, Governor of Judea, to the Roman Emperor Tiberius);

“To His Majesty and to the Honoured Senate of Rome: Greetings from the Senate Lentulus, Governor of Judea!

“I have learnt what you desired to know and am now telling you by this letter. Living here is a man who enjoys a great reputation as a God-fearing person and whose name is Jesus Christ. People call Him Prophet of the Truth, but His Disciples hold that He is the Son of God.–that is to say, the Son of Him who created the heaven and earth and all that has ever existed, exists, and will still exist in all eternity. In Connection with Him, O Emperor, there have been rumours every day of miracles performed by the said Jesus Christ. By a single word He heals the sick and raises the dead.

“He is of medium height and of astonishing beauty. His glance is majestic and inspires a feeling of reverence, love, and fear in all those who look upon Him. His hair has the colour of ripe pistachios–that is, reddish, falls tresses upon His shoulders, and parts in two in the middle of the head in the Nazarene manner. His forehead is high and expresses innocence and calm. In His rosy-coloured face neither a spot nor a wrinkle appears. His nose and His mouth give rise to no criticism, and His dense beard is similar to His hair–long, and parted in two in the middle.

“His look is imposing and serene. He possesses sparkling eyes. The light shining forth from his face is like sunshine, so that it is impossible for anyone to behold Him too long. This radiance arouses fear, but as soon as He starts teaching and advising, He does it with so much sorrow that He evokes love and veneration among His listeners. It has been said that He never laughs, but that His eyes are always tearful. His hands are externally beautiful. When He speaks He is most pleasant. He very seldom contacts high society. As regards His teachings, by them He attracts all Jerusalem. He masters perfectly every science, without having studied even one of them. He walks bare-footed and bare-headed. Everywhere it is said, until now, such a man has never been seen in these places. Read the rest of this entry

The Flood

The descendants of Seth were called the sons of God and the descendants of Cain were called the sons of men.

The descendants of Seth were called the sons of God; the descendants of Cain, the sons of men. As the sons of God mingled with the sons of men, they became corrupt and, by intermarriage with them, lost, through the influence of their wives, their peculiar, holy character, and united with the sons of Cain in their idolatry. Many cast aside the fear of God and trampled upon His commandments. But there were a few that did righteousness, who feared and honored their Creator. Noah and his family were among the righteous few. Cc36.6

Genesis 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

The sons of God saw how beautiful the daughters of Cain were and they took them as wives but through the influence of their wives they were corrupted. The sons of God lost they’re godly character and they joined in the general apostasy. Until at last, there was only a few who remained worshipers of God. There was Methuselah and some others who died before the flood and there was Noah and his family. These were the only ones left. Read the rest of this entry

The Heavenly Physician and His Hospital

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

Are you prepared to let God have His own way with you? When the admonition is to come and let us return unto the Lord, what has He done? Are you prepared to let Him do it?

Hosea 6:1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 3 Then shall we know, [if] we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter [and] former rain unto the earth.

The Son of Righteousness

By John Thiel

How real is it to you and valuable for us to frequently express ourselves of the value of our relationship with Jesus and to identify the realities and the sense of need of those realities? How much do we trust in Him? Is He dearer than all the earth beside? The way to test that is when He asks us to do something and there are other things to detract us whether we will let the detractions go. That is the way to see if that is true.

What is the purpose of our existence as a separate group of Christians that doesn’t harmonize with churches around us? What pertains to the life of God’s people in the last days? The Sobriety and Joy of Christ’s Coming

I feel more and more impressed with the greatness of the subject of the Lord’s soon appearing in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 01 This Generation Shall Not Pass

By John Thiel, The Last Generation Conference, Audio: mp3

We are to gain the deep appreciation of the imminence of Christ’s coming. Ever since the fall, believers in the Lord have been expecting Jesus to come. The first born of Eve and Adam, they were expecting to be the Messiah. Right down through the ages there was a hope that they could be ushered into the kingdom of God. We today, after 6000 years still are waiting. We love the Lord and God’s faithful people all loved the Lord and they were hoping and hoping. Where was the hope to be found? Pain with Hope or Hopeless Pain

Pain with hope, or hopeless pain, which one will you choose? As sinners, you and I are destined for redemption. Every inhabitant on this planet must pass from death unto life and there is not one person who must not pass from death unto life.

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And [that] he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

The Pharisees and Hypocrisy

Christ gave his disciples a warning:

Luke 12:1 Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

The leaven of the Pharisee’s. Leaven is like a yeast. You start with a small bit and as you add it to the bread it pervades and causes things to grow. Hypocrisy if it is not dealt with will leaven the entire being until we grow up full of air, full of pride, full of air like a puffy loaf of bread. In order to make a good loaf of bread you have to give it a good punch and knock the air out of it. However, no hypocrisy can be tolerated in heaven therefore He says beware of the leaven of hypocrisy. We often like to examine ourselves and say that was the leaven of the Pharisee and I’m not a Pharisee so therefore I don’t need to beware of the leaven of hypocrisy. Well the Pharisees didn’t realise they were hypocritical. Read the rest of this entry

The Church Triumphant in Prophecy

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

Previous studies have shown that to be candidates of the church triumphant we need to reach certain qualifications of which these qualifications were enlarged. We also saw the need of submitting to the counsel of men and women of years of experience in the Lord if we will be of such a church. This study concludes this focus with a study of the church triumphant in prophecy. As previously studied, this church is a very difficult one to join and be part of. We tend to be in a time right now that is very perplexing. We live in perplexing times when it comes to identifying God’s church today and recognising such a church. The perplexing detail is expressed in Matthew 24. Jesus is speaking in reference to our time;

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Read the rest of this entry

Misusing the Testimonies of God’s Love

By John Thiel

In our last study ‘Gods Letters of Love through the Spirit of Prophecy’, there were letters that didn’t sound like love. They were very sharp and cutting and we saw that we must understand that the one who is speaking to us in those letters is the one who has great love and compassion for us and we can make a correct conclusion from those statements. Indeed it is possible to misuse the testimonies of God’s love. We saw previously that God’s love to his church was demonstrated for the people living at the very end, a special love at a time when the winds of strife are let loose. They are being held back as God’s people are not all sealed and they would not be able to survive through those terrible times. To assist in this work of being sealed for that terrible time we read 1 Corinthians:

Securing Our Salvation

By John Thiel

2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

The reason for our worship from one Sabbath to another is that He is our creator and redeemer. We are overwhelmed as we contemplate his creative power and when He created the human race in Adam and Eve we had no part in it. He did what He chose to do. He wanted to create a people who would be akin to Him created in his own image but we know that through the rebellion in heaven this planet joined ranks with the enemy and here we exist as sinners. The plight of humanity is the offence of one.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

We are here now all of us and death has passed upon all of us and we are all sinners. However:

Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

We live in hope. Here we are and there are many a young person today who has taken their life as they see no hope but for those that see the dilemma of the human race and the plight of their own condition there is hope because by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. We can live in hope. Read the rest of this entry

05 Ready When You Are

Jesus is coming. Do we want to be like Nehemiah? If we do it requires a strong decision to build up the old waste places. We will experience opposition if we do this work. The purpose of this seminar has not been for debating controversial issues but to set in a brief way the movement God has ordained to come out of the world. God is building His church upon the eternal rock, the rock of ages, Jesus Christ. This rock is in opposition to worldly customs and practises. Read the rest of this entry

06 The Harvest

mp3 The Harvest

We must by willing to take up our cross and deny ourselves and follow Jesus for the path of faith requires a lot of hardship. We will be tested and we tried just like Jesus. Although we are crucified with Christ nevertheless we live yet not we but Christ lives in us. The life we want to live must be lived by the faith of the Son of God. If we will not live by faith we will be overwhelmed by the troubles that Christians and non- Christians alike will receive. No one is exempt. The Christian also receives chastening from God the Father for it says that any branch that brings forth fruit is pruned so it can bring forth more fruit. God’s obedient children are still under the discipline of the loving heavenly Father. That discipline is difficult. We have the privilege of reading the things that will be done to us. We will receive persecution and dark experiences. If we read our Bibles we will see the things written a foretime are written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Romans 15:4) Jesus prayed to His Father that He would send another Comforter the Holy Ghost. Do you know why the Holy Ghost is a Comforter? It’s because He will show you everything Jesus has said and when he comes he will:

05 The Fight of Faith

Living Faith Seminar, Study 5, Audio: The Fight of Faith

We cannot be justified by faith until we have received the seed into our hearts. Even though the seed has not grown yet into a tall plant to bring forth fruit, everything is there. As we receive the Word of God in its entirety whether we know everything or not, by that surrender and the willingness to follow the Lamb wherever He goes we are justified.

Hebrews 10:3 Now the just shall live by faith.

If we want to remain just we must live practically by the genetic code that has been placed into our hearts by Jesus Christ. If you have been ploughed, if you realize what sin is, that your nature is desperately wicked and you come to the point where you have received God’s Word in its entirety then the walk has just begun. When the seed has been planted it is just the beginning of our experience. When man has the divine nature and the law of God is written in the soul, our flesh, that is our deranged physical frame, it still has the same matter as beforehand. The endocrine system and the hormones are still unbalanced. Your feelings will still be aroused the same as before rebirth. When someone is born again does he have a new body? No, but you have a new ingredient now that will conquer those things of the flesh. Read the rest of this entry

The Source of Loneliness

Audio: The Source of Loneliness

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.   2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Are you really happy, or do you just say that you are happy? God wants us to be happy people, not sad. The problem we have is that we are unhappy with the way which God wants to make us happy. The path which leads to happiness we are not happy with. But if we live by faith and not by sight, it will lead to happiness. What is this path to happiness? If we will be happy with that path, then we will be happy before we get to happiness. Faith is the biggest element in order to be stable Christians. God has given us His word and has fulfilled all our needs. The reason why this world isn’t happy is because we don’t recognise that our needs are fulfilled by the Lord. There is something that is not good for man.

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Read the rest of this entry

The Leaven of the Pharisees Part 1

Audio: mp3

A Warning

If you ever go into a yard you will see a sign saying ‘Beware of the Dog’. Most people are often wary of the dog because if they go in they expect the dog to come out and eat them up. It is very unwise to neglect a warning sign.

Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Are you aware of hypocrisy? Jesus was talking to his disciples not the Pharisees. I hope we can gain an understanding of what hypocrisy is so we do not follow that path. The Bible gives a description of hypocrisy in Matthew. Mathew 23 is given to hypocrites, the woes upon the hypocrites. We need to be aware of hypocrisy so we can gain lessons for ourselves.

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. :4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men’s shoulders; but they [themselves] will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ. 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Two Men Went up into the Temple to Pray

By Markus Dammasch, Audio: mp3

Consider the Jewish nation. Up until Jesus time, they were blessed above all nations. They could have been spiritually very well off. They had received many spiritual blessings. What does Paul write about them?

Romans 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit [is there] of circumcision? 2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

In Jesus’ time, the Jewish leaders were corrupt, they crucified Jesus but they were a favoured people because God had committed to them the sacred oracles of truth. Jesus said salvation was of the Jews but pride entered into their hearts. This pride is described in Luke.

Luke 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

Did the Pharisee live according to the law? He did. He lived up to the present truth that was entrusted to him. He was saying, thank you for rescuing me from this low condition, but then he said, or as this publican. The Lord judges the heart. How did the publican pray?

Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. Read the rest of this entry

The Lazar House

By John Thiel, Audio: The Lazar House

The world is a great lazar house; it is corrupted under the inhabitants thereof, and misery is universal. {8T 169.2}

The world is a lazar house filled with victims of both physical and spiritual disease. {CD 455.3}

The world has become a lazar house of sin, a mass of corruption.  {MM 218. 4}

What is a lazar house? An institution for lepers. Leprosy was incurable in the old days but now they can do more. It was incurable and the people were living in the Lazar house were slowly dying away until finally their disease got worse and worse and they died. Nowadays an institution for lepers can operate and do things to alleviate the problem.

God has separated this planet from the rest of the universe. The rest of the universe is not touched by it. This planet has been quarantined as it is a lazar house of spiritual leprosy. Not a single individual on this planet has not been mentally and physically prevented from suffering. Everyone suffers. A description is given even for the people of God in Isaiah. No one is exempt, everyone is affected. Read the rest of this entry

Why Does It Say the 144,000 Do Not Taste Death?
