Introduction

Our study during the last half of 2021 has prepared us to meet the storms and trauma of the times just before the second coming of Jesus. If we embrace those lessons, we have the assurance of being members of the church triumphant. Our studies for the next three months will provide inspiration to secure our determination to persevere through those traumatic storms and triumph gloriously. Indeed, the study of this section of the lesson is designed to achieve what is written in the book In Heavenly Places, p. 352:

“We have a good hope through Jesus. It is sure and steadfast and entereth into that within the veil. It yields us consolation in affliction, it gives us joy amid anguish, disperses the gloom around us, and causes us to look through it all to immortality and eternal life. . . . Earthly treasures are no inducement to us, for while we have this hope it reaches clear above the treasures of earth that are passing away and takes hold of the immortal inheritance, the treasures that are durable, incorruptible, undefiled, and that fade not away.”

Oh how much we need “consolation in affliction,” “joy amid anguish,” and how we often long for the gloom that surrounds us to be dispersed. Well, study this lesson diligently and commit its realities to memory, so that when affliction, anguish, and gloom threaten, we will truly be able to look through it all to the immortal inheritance and the treasures that are durable.

God grant the blessing of the following words of 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 to take full effect in the heart of all who study this lesson pamphlet.

“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
