1. The Sealing of the 144,000 Tribe By Tribe – The Tribe of Judah

By John Thiel, The Characteristics of the Twelve Tribes of the 144,000 Conference, study 1, mp3

Scripture reading: Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

These words are key to this whole conference. We want to explore the people who make up the 144,000. The tribal forefathers that are recorded in Revelation 7 will comprise the experience of those who are being sealed among the 144,000. This first message is both an introduction and the study of the first tribe which is mentioned in the words of Revelation 7. We see here the names of the tribes out of which one hundred and forty four thousand persons are to be sealed: Read the rest of this entry

13. The Twelve Tribes – Benjamin

By John Thiel

What have we learnt from previous studies about the Twelve Tribes? They were not good to start with. But we saw the end result of reaching perfection of character.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

We go through trials and difficulty. It works patience in us. We want nothing more. Read the rest of this entry

10. The Twelve Tribes – Zebulun

By John Thiel

What negative influence affected Zebulun by the mothers attitude?

Genesis 30:20 And Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.

Zebulun means dwelling.  How was this embedded? Read the rest of this entry

9. The Twelve Tribes – Isaachar

By John Thiel

This character is a complete turn around from what we have studied.  We have been studying the negative backgrounds but as we study Isachar, here is one character with good qualities. In Issachar’s situation, we see something good come out of something bad.  Who comes out of this situation?

Genesis 30:14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.

30:15 And she said unto her, [Is it] a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son’s mandrakes. Read the rest of this entry

8. The Twelve Tribes – Levi

By John Thiel

The one hundred and forty four thousand are to be without sin and without fault.  However, not because they started out like that way.  We often read that the last church is undefiled and pure.  They were purified from very corrupting beginnings.

Malachi 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he [is] like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: 3 And he shall sit [as] a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. 7. The Twelve Tribes – Simeon

By John Thiel

The tribulation that the one hundred and forty four thousand come out of is a very present responsibility. The timing of washing robes is very urgent right now.

It is now that we must wash our robes of character and make them white in the blood of the Lamb. It is now that we must overcome pride, passion, and spiritual slothfulness. It is now that we must awake and make determined effort for symmetry of character. Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts. We are in a most trying position, waiting, watching for our Lord’s appearing. The world is in darkness. But ye, brethren, says Paul, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. It is ever God’s purpose to bring light out of darkness, joy out of sorrow, and rest out of weariness for the waiting, longing soul. {5T 215.4} Read the rest of this entry

6. The Twelve Tribes – Ephraim and Manasseh

By John Thiel

The sealing of the one hundred and forty four thousand pertains to people living now.

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: [and there were] sealed an hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

5. The Twelve Tribes – Dan and Naphtali

By John Thiel

The 144,000 are a people with conditions which are far from holy.

Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

4. The Twelve Tribes – Asher

By John Thiel

In the study of the one hundred and forty four thousand we are learning that they are people who may have come from a worst case scenario as the polygamous circumstances of Jacobs’s household.

Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden [part] thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

God finds us like that.

Ezekiel 16:1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity [is] of the land of Canaan; thy father [was] an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite. 4 And [as for] thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple [thee]; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.  5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the loathing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. 6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee [when thou wast] in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee [when thou wast] in thy blood, Live.  7 I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: [thy] breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou [wast] naked and bare. 14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God. 2. The Twelve Tribes – Rueben

By John Thiel

This is the second study on tribe by tribe of the sealing of the 144,000. Last time we studied the tribe of Judah. We recall that Judah was the first among the sealed of the 144,000. Yet he was not the first born. He was specifically described as the first one because Christ was born of his tribe. He had a very beautiful character. Leah was exonerated in the eyes of her husband as she had so many children and Rachel had none. We saw the terrible mistakes made by the children. Judah showed his character when he had mercy on Joseph. We saw how he made terrible sins yet developed a firm character. The firmness of his character that he developed was echoed through his whole tribe. Daniel was from his tribe. These characters developed out of sin. These tribes make up that character. These 144,000 did not start out perfect. If the 144,000 had to wash their robes, then what were they previously? Unclean.

Revelation 7:14. And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Read the rest of this entry

1. The Twelve Tribes – Judah

By John Thiel

How are the one hundred and forty four thousand established and how do they enter into the gates of the city of the new Jerusalem?  It is by the three angels messages and the angels which are sealing them that does this.  But as individuals, we have a part to play. Read the rest of this entry

12. The Twelve Tribes – Joseph

By John Thiel

The one hundred and forty four thousand will go through the time of Jacobs’s trouble. Some have really sinned badly but came out and are redeemed. Joseph came out of circumstances as well but he also started beautifully. It appears he never did any great sins. Yet he had to go through a purification process. Although he did no major sin, something still had to be removed. Read the rest of this entry
