11. Hiding Securely

By John Thiel, Facing Last Day Perils Conference, Study 11, mp3

Scripture reading: Isaiah 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

There are very troublesome frightening perplexities ahead of us and already upon us and there is a danger that when we look at them and focus upon them we may lose our focus upon Jesus. However Jesus is the one who will be with us through those perplexities. This must lace all the subjects that we pursue so that those perplexities, although they are perplexities are illuminated by the presence of Jesus so that while they are perplexing and fearful and awesome and awful, we will not be discomfited with those terrible realities. To complete our contemplations and to take with us an intelligent strength and comfort, we want to focus upon our hiding place, hiding securely in our hiding place.

Crossing the Anti-Typical Jordan

By John Thiel, Hebrew Wilderness Wanderings Conference, Epilogue, mp3

As we were travelling with the children of Israel in this series we were most startled when we realised what it really meant to cross the river Jordan and who was it that crosses the river Jordan in reality. Who makes it thorough the terrible surging floods of the destructive forces about us?  When we went into the type there were a few questions. What we are studying in the story of the Hebrews is not just for the sake of a story it is specifically identified.

1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

As you go through the story of the children of Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land it was written for a specific reason. We tell our children the bible stories and the children grow up and it has been reported by those who have had children’s bible stories all the way along that they are just stories and the people haven’t learnt that they are actually moral issues revealed in a story.  These things really did happen but God conducted them for the purpose of the church upon whom the ends of the world have come. If we are going to take that seriously we will therefore do what we have done during this series and go carefully into every little lesson that can be learnt so that we may be aware. It’s exactly as the Hebrew temple and the Hebrew story gives us the complete description of the gospel and the gospel church. Read the rest of this entry

9. The Time of Jacob’s Trouble

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 9, mp3

In the beginning of the third angel’s message we learned that this message is in reference to the period of the harvest of the earth. The parable of Christ in regards to the harvest represents the end of the world, and it is also identified with the message of the shaking within God’s church. This is the third angel’s work in the time of the harvest:

I then saw the third angel. Said my accompanying angel, “Fearful is his work. Awful is his mission. He is the angel that is to select the wheat from the tares, and seal, or bind, the wheat for the heavenly garner. These things should engross the whole mind, the whole attention.” {EW 118.1}

This should engross the whole mind. We are living in the very last moments of this work of the third angel, and it should engross our attention now even more, because his mission is so awful that it actually separates human beings. Unless people occupy their minds with this event they will not recognize and appreciate what is happening. And because they don’t appreciate it they attack the people who are themselves embracing this message, and are being separated and shaken as a consequence of that. Read the rest of this entry

7. The Little Time of Trouble

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 7, mp3

What is the latter rain? And what is its effect? It is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon His people. It will fall on the hearts of the people but by many it will not be discerned, received, or understood. But as the latter rain is imparted, it culminates in the proclamation of the loud cry of the third angel. The effect of the loud cry on the people will impose a reaction upon those who hear it. Especially those who do not want to hear it, so that Sunday laws will come into action.

Those three subjects; the latter rain, the loud cry, and the Sunday laws, are all interlocking in their effect. As they interlock and overlap, Sunday laws become agitated. As they do, God’s people who have received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit proclaim the Sabbath with greater power. Then this leads to the antagonism of the churches because they are completely opposed to the powerful impact of presentation of the Sabbath under the power of the Holy Spirit. This is an interlocking activity.

Sunday laws have always been there as we saw in the second angel’s message. But as those Sunday laws, under the third angel’s message period, are opposed by those who are receiving the latter rain and proclaiming the Sabbath more fully, they begin to be stirred into more impact upon the world because the churches are opposing this message. The loud cry is the final warning to the world. This leads to trouble. Read the rest of this entry

Godly Living in the Last Days

By John Thiel

Scripture Reading: Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches]? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 3:4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Understanding the Seriousness of the Hour

By John Thiel

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].
