8. The Remnant Part 2

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 8b, mp3

Revelation  3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

The scripture of Revelation 3:20-21 identifies the people who are responding to the call of Jesus. He is knocking on the heart’s door and they respond to the call. They open their heart and assimilate with Jesus. Then, as they assimilate with Jesus, they can conquer; they can overcome and then become the remnant of verse 21. We want to follow this sequence through in a living history.

Jesus wanted to convey to the disciples in John chapter 6 that He desires to come in to us, and to eat and drink with us. The message of eating and drinking of Jesus and with Jesus, is the very message that separates just like it separated the seventy from the other disciples.

John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Read the rest of this entry

1. Introduction to the Third Angel

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 1, mp3

This is the first study on the third angel’s message.

Revelation 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud [one] sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 6. Sunday Laws (Third Angel)

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 6, mp3

Those who, understanding the claims of the fourth commandment, choose to observe the false instead of the true Sabbath are thereby paying homage to that power by which alone it is commanded. But in the very act of enforcing a religious duty by secular power, the churches would themselves form an image to the beast; hence the enforcement of Sundaykeeping in the United States would be an enforcement of the worship of the beast and his image. {GC 448.3} Read the rest of this entry

3. America’s Role in Prophecy

By John Thiel, Second Angel’s Message, study 3, mp3

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

This message applies after the first angel’s message has been given and the reaction of those who heard the first angel’s message which called forth the second angel’s message. They are addressed as Babylon. Babylon is fallen. Why the term Babylon?

Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Read the rest of this entry

5. The Loud Cry

John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 5, mp3

The latter rain is the teacher of righteousness according to righteousness. As the Holy Spirit worked through the angels it could be identified in the first angel’s message as the former rain, which prepared the way for the third angel’s message, which then becomes the latter rain. The people who were under the teaching of the first angel’s message understood the work of justification and sanctification, of Christ and His righteousness, all this apprenticeship that they entered into, as being the activity by which they were to gain perfection. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit they were ultimately to receive the finishing touch in the latter rain, which was their graduation, as it were. As we have seen through the statements of the Spirit of Prophecy, only the people who had been prepared and purified could receive the latter rain. This is summarized here:

Pure religion has to do with the will. The will is the governing power in the nature of man, bringing all the other faculties under its sway. The will is not the taste or the inclination, but it is the deciding power, which works in the children of men unto obedience to God, or unto disobedience. {RC 294.2} Read the rest of this entry

14. Life On the New Earth

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 14, mp3

In previous studies we have gone through the experiences on this planet, from the little season right through to the destruction of the wicked. The Holy Spirit imparts things to our inner being. The holy oil flows to the olive trees, into the pipes and into the candlestick, and then from the candlestick to make the lights burning. God’s people, the church, are the lights in the world in regards to the pure truth. The Holy Spirit is the Teacher of righteousness according to righteousness who is giving the latter rain, which leads the faithful people to be part of God’s kingdom and enter the holy city. This is exactly what the third angel’s message is empowered to do. As we have studied these last messages, we have seen the entire picture of world history right through till after the millennium. Now we will study life on the new earth to bring these studies to completion. Read the rest of this entry

19. The Study of God’s Word

By John Thiel, First Angel’s Message, study 19, mp3

This study is a continuation in the mini-series of discipleship. Earlier we studied how the Godhead pledged themselves to become the facilities of Father, Son and Comforter for us so that we might become partakers of God’s holiness.

Hebrews 12:10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

This exercise is to understand the everlasting gospel and the work of the Godhead that we ‘might profit and be partakers in His holiness.’ We want to appreciate the study of God’s Word in discipleship. The Bible has been the source of all our knowledge and this is how we receive instruction for our own wisdom.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The man of God may be perfect. This is the whole purpose behind the Godhead pledging themselves to become facilities for us so that we would be partakers in God’s holiness thoroughly furnished unto all good works. The ability to be perfect and to do good works is furnished by the study of the Bible. Here lies our apprenticeship in the study of God’s Word. We need to know how to learn from the Bible for our perfection process. An apprenticeship involves searching the scriptures. Read the rest of this entry
