19. The Study of God’s Word

This study is a continuation in the mini-series of discipleship. Earlier we studied how the Godhead pledged themselves to become the facilities of Father, Son and Comforter for us so that we might become partakers of God’s holiness.

Hebrews 12:10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

This exercise is to understand the everlasting gospel and the work of the Godhead that we ‘might profit and be partakers in His holiness.’ We want to appreciate the study of God’s Word in discipleship. The Bible has been the source of all our knowledge and this is how we receive instruction for our own wisdom.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The man of God may be perfect. This is the whole purpose behind the Godhead pledging themselves to become facilities for us so that we would be partakers in God’s holiness thoroughly furnished unto all good works. The ability to be perfect and to do good works is furnished by the study of the Bible. Here lies our apprenticeship in the study of God’s Word. We need to know how to learn from the Bible for our perfection process. An apprenticeship involves searching the scriptures. Read the rest of this entry
