SSL 2022 (2nd half) – Lessons on the Voice From Heaven

Hello brethren and sisters! Our upcoming Sabbath school lessons for the second half of 2022 are now available! You are once again invited to print your own for your respective localities. The subject that will direct these six last months is: Lessons on the Voice From Heaven. Heavily prophetical and spiritual at the same time, these lessons portray to us the intelligent, biblical understanding of that other voice from heaven, spoken of in Revelation chapter 18, verse 4, that movement once described by Uriah Smith as the fifth celestial messenger, along with its extended array of connected ramifications.

Pain with hope, or hopeless pain, which one will you choose? As sinners, you and I are destined for redemption. Every inhabitant on this planet must pass from death unto life and there is not one person who must not pass from death unto life.

The Lord and I

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence [is] fulness of joy; at thy right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore.

In this study it is my purpose to bring everything that I have ever preached in the past down to a living companionship with God. The term I just expressed, everything I have ever preached, it is something I’ve appreciated from the book Ministry of Healing;

The mere hearing of sermons Sabbath after Sabbath, the reading of the Bible through and through, or the explanation of it verse by verse, will not benefit us or those who hear us, unless we bring the truths of the Bible into our individual experience. The understanding, the will, the affections, must be yielded to the control of the word of God. Then through the work of the Holy Spirit the precepts of the word will become the principles of the life. {MH 514.1}

This statement we must understand. As we hear the sermons and read the Bible, many people still do not find the true benefit of it all. . 4. Developing Interested Souls for Baptism

This aspect of is now to develop the interested souls for baptism. We have learnt how to arouse their interest and that is to do with how to find them. Now that you found them, once you have captivated an interest, you then want to win them to a final decision. If you have captivated an interest they will say to you, I want more information, I want Bible study. When you have them at that position, now you have a prospective candidate for baptism. When a person asks for Bible studies, you have a positive candidate. Why do I say this? Bible study produces something.

The Longing of Your Heart

Jesus tells us of things that receive blessings. One of those things is recorded in Matthew 5.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Do we hunger and thirst after righteousness? To be hungry you have to be empty. What do children do when they are hungry? Cry. Blessed are they which do hunger. It’s a good position to be in, to be in need; hungering and thirsting after righteousness. David longed and was hungry and thirsted after righteousness.

Psalm 107:3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. 4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. 5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, [and] he delivered them out of their distresses. 7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. 8 Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. God has a church. The Theatre of His Grace

We are to remind ourselves why we are in the church and why we should be part of a church. Why we are going through the experiences we are going through in all our various circumstances? What is happening to me? What is happening to us? Before we became connected with the church many of us had a carefree life of enjoyment. We didn’t pay so much attention to the things we did wrong because we didn’t even know how wrong we were.

The church is the theater of his grace, in which he delights in making experiments of mercy on human hearts. The Holy Spirit is his representative, and it works to effect transformations so wonderful that angels look upon them with astonishment and joy. Heaven is full of rejoicing when the members of the human family are seen to be full of compassion for one another, loving one another as Christ has loved them. The church is God’s fortress, his city of refuge, which he holds in a revolted world. Any betrayal of her sacred trust is treachery to him who has bought her with the precious blood of his only begotten Son. {PH154 18.2}

We are reminded that the church is the theatre of his grace or the operating theatre, his hospital in which he delights in making experiments on human hearts. Read the rest of this entry →
