God’s Church the Place to Change

By John Thiel, mp3

Scripture reading: 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.

You must be born again – these are the words which Jesus expressed to a leader in the Jewish church at that time. This man was a worshipper of the true God; he had been established in the faith of the Jewish church, concerning which Jesus Himself said to the woman at Samaria, Salvation is of the Jews. He had a personality and a character that had been established over years; he was brought up in the Jewish faith. And Jesus came to him and he found it very difficult to understand at first, but finally it dawned upon him. Jesus was actually trying to tell him something. What was He trying to tell him by saying, You must be born again? The way you are at this present time, you can’t enter the kingdom of heaven. This is what He was saying. You must change; you must start all over again. You must be born afresh. Start from scratch, start from the very beginning of a little baby being born Read the rest of this entry

Where is God’s Church Today?

By John Thiel, mp3

What is the position we find ourselves in in the religious world today? Here is the story of the predicament that we are in in these times:

Song of Solomon 6:8 There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.

In the Bible a woman is a symbol of the church. We read here that there are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number. In this bewildering circumstance of multiple churches, all of them claiming to be the Christian church of God, claiming to be the followers of Jesus but all having contradictory positions on different subjects, if we are going to be the sheep that follow Jesus the Shepherd, with all the folds that present themselves we find a bewilderment. Where is it? Read the rest of this entry

1. The Trinity Doctrine

By John Thiel, Removing Delusions and Fallacies Series, mp3

Scripture reading: Ephesians 4:4 [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.

The light that comes from the Bible will diffuse and disperse darkness. This is what the meditation of this new series will be – we will be looking to the Bible to diffuse the delusions and take away the fallacies. The following inspired words will follow us all throughout this series: Read the rest of this entry

Our Heritage

By John Thiel, mp3

Scripture reading: Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where [is] the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Jesus prayed that His followers might be one; but we are not to sacrifice the truth in order to secure this union, for we are to be sanctified through the truth. Here is the foundation of all true peace. Human wisdom would change all this, pronouncing this basis too narrow. Men would try to effect unity through concession to popular opinion, through compromise with the world, a sacrifice of vital godliness. But truth is God’s basis for the unity of His people. {OHC 329.3} Read the rest of this entry

The Adventist Pioneers – Our Counsellors

What do we know about the pioneers of the Advent faith? Many of them started of as young missionaries in the movement. They will be sealed among the 144,000 and come up in the special resurrection of Daniel 12:2 during the sixth plague.  We are to stand united with them on the sea of glass. They are our counsellors and brethren. Read the rest of this entry

Pure Truth

By John Thiel, mp3

Scripture Reading: John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Truth for Salvation

Will Your Anchor Hold? We want to understand what it means to have an anchor in these times of multiple opposing doctrines and teachings that are coming upon God’s people in the Advent faith. The security and assurance that is spoken of in having an anchor that will stand immovable amongst all the strains and stresses that are upon God’s people today, especially in reference to truth – do we have such an anchor? In our scripture reading Jesus speaks to us and says that, to be truly free we must know the truth. According to those words of Jesus, can you be free if you hold any error? This is a very serious question. Read the rest of this entry

The Scroll is Unrolling

By John Thiel, mp3

It is a very fitting thing to be reminded of the reality of the three angels’ messages and their import at this time.

We live today 170 years from the events of Revelation 10. We read of the relevant prophetic application to the people that were living back there.

Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow [was] upon his head, and his face [was] as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and [his] left [foot] on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as [when] a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. 5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: 7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. 8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go [and] take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take [it], and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. 11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. Finding Jesus in the Prophecies

By John Thiel, mp3

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Is it your prayer that the Lord will break through some of the darkness that still affects us in this present world? We need to see Jesus in all the circumstances of life. It is my prayer that the day star may arise in our hearts. That sure word prophecy, as we take heed to it, will be as a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn and the daystar arise in our hearts. It is my purpose that we may appreciate the value of prophecy in reference to our salvation.

Our salvation is often focused upon by merely studying the gospel, and so we should study the gospel of Jesus Christ. However it says that the daystar will arise in our hearts because we have a more sure word of prophecy, a word more sure than what Apostle Peter was talking about in verses 16-19, where he was describing the light that they saw in Jesus Christ as they, the disciples, followed Him. The disciples reported the gospel, but what does he say? Read the rest of this entry

Prophetic Salvation

By John Thiel, mp3

1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls. 10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that should come] unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

The Truth as It is in Jesus

By John Thiel, mp3

Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

The Lord is worthy of our worship and we are gathered to worship. We are here to worship as we hear his word, the word of God. We today live in a similar atmosphere of Christianity as did Israel when they were in Babylonian captivity. As the Israelites were caught by Nebuchadnezzar in the time of Ezekiel they accepted they were captives and they would make the best of it and live in Babylon under Babylonian conditions and the Israel of today has accepted the circumstances in which we live in although they are often foreign to true Christianity. The words of Ezekiel can be very applicable to us if we do not guard ourselves. God knew something about the Israel listening to him speaking and preaching. Read the rest of this entry

Meat in Due Season

Meat in Due Season

Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

The hymn “O Tell Me” asks a serious question. I often ask myself why we meet together in such small capacity when we could be in large churches? It’s nice to worship in a large church with music and pathos and volume and here is a small company to worship among. We’ve come here to worship Jesus haven’t we? To worship our heavenly father? We are spoken to by Jesus in Matthew 24. What does Jesus say in reference to our dilemma? This is the sad reality that Jesus identifies ever since the dark ages have been closed off.
