The People of the Loud Cry Part 4

The True Loud Cry

The last three studies have found that the loud cry is different to human expectation.

Bible religion is not to be boastfully paraded, but quietly practiced in good words and works.–Ms 74, 1897. {VSS 30.3}

Those that are prudent will be silent in that time. The others weren’t boastfully parading, but quietly practicing good works and words. Consider now the nature of the loud cry. Remember it says, come out of Babylon my people. This turns your mind to the Babylon in the time of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego; the firey furnace. Their story is the symbolic picture of the lesson for us today.

Dan 3:28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. 29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. The Process of their Exposure

Isaiah 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. 15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

God wants us to understand Him. He rejoices over those who know Him. This is to consider the worship of God. There is something regarding God that we need to understand and know. God reveals to us something very deep about Himself.

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

What a thing to contemplate as we worship God! We are coming to someone who is way above us. We are to understand that. That is what Jesus spoke to the woman at the well. We often think we have the preeminence over others and that we are worshiping God according to where we are. This was the question that the woman at the well from Samaria asked Jesus. She said, our fathers worshiped in this mountain and you say that in Jerusalem is where men ought to worship. People are always proud of their place or system of worship. How did Jesus answer?

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Gaining that Nature

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

The people of the loud cry, we want to be them and so we have a mission. A mission of a different variety that many churches think it’s going to be. The mission is at this present time is to gain a nature that is going to meet with the expectation of the people that God is expecting to give the loud cry. It is a small and obscure people. They need to meet the demand of what the loud cry is revealed as in Revelation 18. It’s revealed as a loud cry.

Revelation 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

The Nature of the People

Jeremiah 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

This scripture reveals a challenge to all who make a profession for which they can be proud of to be the people of God. To be wise. We live in the present moment of time in a culture of preeminence in the religious world. The churches and companies that exist today especially among Adventism are flaunting their preeminence. We uphold the pure truth, we are the right ones and we are the true representatives of God’s truth. You see this throughout the planet.

There is a glorying in this and a tendency to parade boastfully. This is the natural turn of mind of every human being who feels they’ve got it right. As we function together I wish to lay upon our hearts something completely different to this mentality to not enter into this culture of preeminence. What does God say to the people who are glorying in their pre-eminence?

Jeremiah 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

These are things that people glory in. Look what I know, look what I have. I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing because I know the truth. I am, we are, this church and this company is it. Thus saith the Lord, let not any many glory. The only thing that we may glory in is:

Jeremiah 9:24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me,

1888 – The Beginning of the Loud Cry and the Fourth Angel

Let us, with contrite hearts, pray most earnestly that now, in the time of the latter rain, the showers of grace may fall upon us. At every meeting we attend our prayers should ascend, that at this very time God will impart warmth and moisture to our souls. As we seek God for the Holy Spirit, it will work in us meekness, humbleness of mind, a conscious dependence upon God for the perfecting latter rain. If we pray for the blessing in faith, we shall receive it as God has promised.—(Testimonies to Ministers, 508.) {Pr 119.6}

The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people through Elders Waggoner and Jones. [SEE APPENDIX.] This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family. All power is given into His hands, that He may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel’s message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure. {TM 91.2} Read the rest of this entry

5. The Loud Cry

John Thiel, Audio: mp3

The latter rain is the teacher of righteousness according to righteousness. As the Holy Spirit worked through the angels it could be identified in the first angel’s message as the former rain, which prepared the way for the third angel’s message, which then becomes the latter rain. The people who were under the teaching of the first angel’s message understood the work of justification and sanctification, of Christ and His righteousness, all this apprenticeship that they entered into, as being the activity by which they were to gain perfection. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit they were ultimately to receive the finishing touch in the latter rain, which was their graduation, as it were. As we have seen through the statements of the Spirit of Prophecy, only the people who had been prepared and purified could receive the latter rain. This is summarized here:

Pure religion has to do with the will. The will is the governing power in the nature of man, bringing all the other faculties under its sway. The will is not the taste or the inclination, but it is the deciding power, which works in the children of men unto obedience to God, or unto disobedience. {RC 294.2} Read the rest of this entry
