Pure Truth
By John Thiel, mp3
Scripture Reading: John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Truth for Salvation
Will Your Anchor Hold? We want to understand what it means to have an anchor in these times of multiple opposing doctrines and teachings that are coming upon God’s people in the Advent faith. The security and assurance that is spoken of in having an anchor that will stand immovable amongst all the strains and stresses that are upon God’s people today, especially in reference to truth – do we have such an anchor? In our scripture reading Jesus speaks to us and says that, to be truly free we must know the truth. According to those words of Jesus, can you be free if you hold any error? This is a very serious question. Read the rest of this entry
Finding Jesus in the Prophecies
By John Thiel, mp3
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Is it your prayer that the Lord will break through some of the darkness that still affects us in this present world? We need to see Jesus in all the circumstances of life. It is my prayer that the day star may arise in our hearts. That sure word prophecy, as we take heed to it, will be as a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn and the daystar arise in our hearts. It is my purpose that we may appreciate the value of prophecy in reference to our salvation.
Our salvation is often focused upon by merely studying the gospel, and so we should study the gospel of Jesus Christ. However it says that the daystar will arise in our hearts because we have a more sure word of prophecy, a word more sure than what Apostle Peter was talking about in verses 16-19, where he was describing the light that they saw in Jesus Christ as they, the disciples, followed Him. The disciples reported the gospel, but what does he say? Read the rest of this entry
Prophetic Salvation
By John Thiel, mp3
1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls. 10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that should come] unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
The Truth as It is in Jesus
By John Thiel, mp3
Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
The Lord is worthy of our worship and we are gathered to worship. We are here to worship as we hear his word, the word of God. We today live in a similar atmosphere of Christianity as did Israel when they were in Babylonian captivity. As the Israelites were caught by Nebuchadnezzar in the time of Ezekiel they accepted they were captives and they would make the best of it and live in Babylon under Babylonian conditions and the Israel of today has accepted the circumstances in which we live in although they are often foreign to true Christianity. The words of Ezekiel can be very applicable to us if we do not guard ourselves. God knew something about the Israel listening to him speaking and preaching. Read the rest of this entry
Meat in Due Season
By John Thiel, mp3
Meat in Due Season
Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
The hymn “O Tell Me” asks a serious question. I often ask myself why we meet together in such small capacity when we could be in large churches? It’s nice to worship in a large church with music and pathos and volume and here is a small company to worship among. We’ve come here to worship Jesus haven’t we? To worship our heavenly father? We are spoken to by Jesus in Matthew 24. What does Jesus say in reference to our dilemma? This is the sad reality that Jesus identifies ever since the dark ages have been closed off.
