Category Archives: Nebuchadnezzar – Lessons from the Life of (2014 Conference)
Nebuchadnezzar is addressing the whole planet. Here is a chapter in the Bible written by Nebuchadnezzar, the greatest king of all the world empires that have ever existed. It is truly remarkable that an idolatrous heathen king over a span of forty-odd years could be so lengthily inspired until he wrote that chapter. Look at the inspired words. How inspired are those words and how majestically expressed.
Daniel 4:2 I thought it good to show the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me. 3 How great [are] his signs! and how mighty [are] his wonders! his kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion [is] from generation to generation.
He then ventures forwards to tell his story.
Daniel 4:37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works [are] truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
5. Judah Invaded
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 5, mp3
We are now focusing upon the invasion of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar. We are often ignorant as to the details of this subject, therefore we will look at the detail of this invasion for one important purpose: to learn the character of this king, so that in our continuing studies we may be able to see what sort of a character he had and what the Lord was doing to operate in his life, and so that we may have an object lesson for dealing with our own character. 15. Eyes to Heaven
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 15, mp3
Our convention has played out before us in a very living picture the operation of God upon a soul whom He took from the quarry of the world, a rough stone, until he came forth beautifully purified. The lesson is for us to understand what God wants to do with every one of us. As it was with Nebuchadnezzar:
Even so, the mighty cleaver of truth has taken out a people from the quarry of the world and is fitting this people, who profess to be the children of God, for a place in His heavenly temple. We want the cleaver of truth to do its work for us. {3MR 231.4} Read the rest of this entry
14. Hopeful Insanity
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 14, mp3
The lessons from the life of Nebuchadnezzar have taken us to a very climactic point. Is there such a thing as hopeful insanity? There is because there is also a hopeless insanity as well. In the repeated awakening and reverses of Nebuchadnezzar’s life and the discovery of the same in us, we are learning lessons from Nebuchadnezzar that pertain to our own experience.
I am not sharing anything to have a go at anybody. I am sharing the truth which has affected me and I have had to struggle and am struggling with the things that you all struggle with no differently. But I thank God that He has been merciful to me and I know He can be merciful to you too as we open our hearts to this seesawing experience in us between the natural heart and the inroads of God in our life as we see them in exemplified in Nebuchadnezzar’s life. 13. A Year to Forget
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 13, mp3
There is a vast field of lessons to learn in the life of Nebuchadnezzar.
In the experience of Nebuchadnezzar is contained a lesson to which we should give heed, lest we fall into temptation. The perils of the last days are upon us, and we should watch and pray, read and heed the lessons that are given us in the books of Daniel and Revelation. {13MR 67.1} Read the rest of this entry
12. Nebuchadnezzar’s Second Dream
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 12, mp3
Psalm 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, [bless] his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Nebuchadnezzar was blessed so richly and yet he forgot the blessings that were poured upon him and he ascribed it all to himself. We are admonished in this reading to realise that the blessings we have experienced from the Lord that He has forgiven us for our iniquities in the past, (we know He has) we must not forget when we come into other circumstances which make us think that although I have had such a wonderful experience at my earlier conversion, now I feel completely dejected and hopeless. He does not forget us and we must not forget Him. Read the rest of this entry
11. Half-Converted
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 11, mp3
We have come to the point in our contemplation of Nebuchadnezzar where we see him brought a second time to a deep heart-conviction that the God of heaven is to be honoured. How did he come to this second one? Having had the original dream.
Having been privileged that God would show to this heathen king this vision of the image that gave the history of the world after him right through to the very end. Read the rest of this entry
10. In the Fiery Furnace
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 10, mp3
We have now arrived at an important climax in the process of God’s work upon the heart of Nebuchadnezzar. What we are now about to behold is how God reaches into a heart to bring to the surface the hidden qualities that may be buried under the surface of hopeless idolatry.
Nebuchadnezzar appeared to be in a terribly hopeless state. He had fallen upon his face recognising God, and then, after a time, he had lost that recognition of God and he entrenched himself more heavily in idolatry. It looked pretty hopeless. But we are now looking at what God will do no matter how hopeless a case may appear. He has a knowledge of the heart of every individual, and no matter how corrupt that individual may reveal himself, yet God knows what is hidden inside of that heart and which He wants to bring to the surface. 9. A Selfish Reaction
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 9, mp3
We are beginning to discover what is actually behind the events of the rising of the Babylonian empire; the life of Nebuchadnezzar in developing that empire, God entering into his mind very decidedly, the vision that Nebuchadnezzar had, and the way God orchestrated the events that finally explained the vision.
The history of man is to show us the philosophy of history, which is to learn that the strength of the individual is measured by the fidelity with which he fulfils the purposes of God. This is our study – the purposes of God and our fidelity. Remember what the purposes of God are. They are to have God’s people be instrumental in saving people who are not God’s people. This is God’s purpose; this is the reason why He raised Israel. But only a small company did the work correctly. And so it is for our time today. It is in reference to our relationship and association with every member of the human family. That is what we are learning in the lessons from Nebuchadnezzar. Read the rest of this entry
8. Nebuchadnezzar’s First Dream
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 8, mp3
God touched Nebuchadnezzar by displaying before him the faithfulness and intelligence and power of God in the lives of the four young princes. Nebuchadnezzar had a sensitivity by which he could recognise that these young men were special. Unconscious to him, he was actually recognising the image of God in them. He had trained them for those three years thinking that they were eating of the king’s meat, thinking that by giving them the names of his gods, they would be strategically influenced to lose their faith. But these young men were used of God to outwit this strategic man. God had conditioned Nebuchadnezzar’s mind and paved the way for the next step to impact his heart by using Daniel in a very meaningful manner. Read the rest of this entry

By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 7, mp3
Isaiah 43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have showed, when [there was] no strange [god] among you: therefore ye [are] my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I [am] God.
We want to behold God’s way of using the faithful of His flock to interact with the heathen for the purpose of converting them. The Jewish people failed as a nation to be His witnesses. “Therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.” Read the rest of this entry

4. Wooden or Iron Yoke
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 4, mp3
Nebuchadnezzar was chosen of God as a servant to execute God’s wrath upon Israel. We have some very important lessons to learn for ourselves in relation to him. Another very important item in these lessons is that God would use Nebuchadnezzar, and Judah could make their time under him tolerable if they would listen to God. Read the rest of this entry
3. Nebuchadnezzar and Judah
By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 3, mp3
We now come to know Nebuchadnezzar by the way in which he handled the Jewish nation – Judah. In the time of Isaiah and Jeremiah, Judah was in wicked apostasy. Here are some excerpts from the book of Jeremiah in which the apostasy is being identified by God and by which we see the warnings that were given to Judah. Read the rest of this entry

By John Thiel, Lessons from the Life of Nebuchadnezzar Conference, Study 2, mp3
We puzzle over the thought that God reaches out to heathen kings and heathen nations. The purpose that we have is to study the life of a heathen king. To learn of a heathen king? Read the rest of this entry
