13. The Twelve Tribes of the 144,000 – Summary

Faithfully the prophets spoke to Manasseh and his people, but backsliding Judah would not heed. As an earnest of what would befall the people should they continue impenitent, the Lord permitted their king to be captured by Assyrian soldiers who “bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.” 2 Chronicles 33:11. This affliction brought the king to his senses. He “humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and … He was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord He was God.” Verses 12, 13. But this repentance came too late to save the kingdom from the influence of years of idolatrous practices. { SS 201.1 }

And I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” “Her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; and had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.” “The twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.” Revelation 21:2, 11, 12, 21, 22. { AA 591.3}

Weak as water but great searches of heart. We must put our effort into being part of the 144,000. If we discover our sins and weaknesses were so heavy upon us, as we search our hearts and apply ourselves, we can overcome. “Lamentations 3:40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.” Whatever your ways have been, turn again to the Lord.

Gad is vying for position.  He already is a king but he tears someone else in the process.  How does he tear the arm?  With the crown on his head.  This is the characteristic of Gad.  He came from this rivalry concept.  This spirit disqualifies us from feeling the Holy Spirits moving upon on us.

All thoughts of violence toward Gideon were dismissed. When he sounded the trumpet of war, the men of Ophrah were among the first to gather to his standard. Heralds were dispatched to his own tribe of Manasseh, and also to Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, and all answered the call. { EP 395.2}
