SSL 2020 (1st) – Lessons on the Atonement

Greetings to all our fellow pilgrims. As we are now preparing to cross the antitypical Jordan over into the heavenly home, what more appropriate theme for our contemplation during the following half a year than the one which will occupy the redeemed throughout eternity—the atonement of Christ with us.

“The theme of redemption is one that angels desire to look into; it will be the science and the song of the redeemed throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. Is it not worthy of careful thought and study now? . . . The subject is inexhaustible. The study of the incarnation of Christ, His atoning sacrifice, and mediatorial work will employ the mind of the diligent student as long as time shall last; and looking to heaven with its unnumbered years, he will exclaim, “Great is the mystery of godliness.”” —My Life Today, p. 360.

“The infinite love and mercy of Jesus, the sacrifice made in our behalf, calls for the most serious and solemn reflection. We should dwell upon the character of our dear Redeemer and Intercessor. We should meditate upon the mission of him who came to save his people from their sins. As we thus contemplate heavenly themes, our faith and love will grow stronger, and our prayers will be more and more acceptable to God, because they will be more and more mixed with faith and love. They will be intelligent and fervent. There will be more constant confidence in Jesus, and a daily, living experience in his power to save to the utmost all that come unto God by him. As we meditate upon the perfections of the Saviour, we shall desire to be wholly transformed, and renewed in the image of his purity. There will be a hungering and thirsting of soul to become like him whom we adore. The more our thoughts are upon Christ, the more we shall speak of him to others, and represent him to the world.” —Christian Education, p. 57.

May God help us as we diligently study these lessons on the atonement in all its ramifications for our personal experience, to cherish the yearning desire to love Him more faithfully and become like the One we behold.

SSL 2019 (2nd) – The First Angel’s Message

Greetings to all our fellow pilgrims sown broadcast over the world by the Lord of hosts to shine brightly for Him in such a time as this, when darkness covers the earth, and gross darkness the people.

As we approach the beginning of another semester, may those following lessons for the next half a year assist us very thoroughly to secure a character that will indeed be a living answer to the call of the first angel, “Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come” (Revelation 14:7). As those startling words of song express, “then trim your lamps, my brethren dear, … the Master’s coming draweth near”.

A Tribute – Soldier, We Honour Thee

Our beloved sister, Rose Thiel, has passed away this Monday 12th of November, 2018. At such a time, we would want to commemorate her, and let no hands mar the record of such a loving and unselfish life. She has been a mother, a sister, and a friend, but also, and for many years, an untiring companion in labour for the cause of Christ to her beloved and now surviving husband. A pillar in the house of God, a stay to many a wavering soul, she ever stood as a rock to principle, and her kindness often reminded us of the Saviour’s love; she gave to the church a shining, unforgettable example of what it means to fight the battles of the Lord when champions are few and many turn traitors to the cause of truth. Heaven shall remember. No effort was lost, and no tear wasted.

We live in a time imminently close to the return of our Saviour, and for us living now He has given profound illumination as to our experience. How to Deal with Inner Self

New sermons on YouTube

Hebrews 10:24 Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works.  25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

It is easy claimed that we may provoke unto love but what is the provocation that leads us to love God and perform good works? It is the same in which Jesus provoked the disciples when we first come to follow Jesus, we are inwardly convinced that what Jesus provides is rational, sound evidence that here is truth. Here is security. Here is a safe path to go where I can cast my whole heart upon that whole path.

Provoke One Another

Although we are in the natural man, our battle is not fought by the natural man.  I do not use the natural man.

How to Deal with Inner Self

God pierces all disguises and reads the inner life. All things are open to him. Naked and open to Him with whom we have to do.

Understanding the Inner Self

How it bristles when we are slighted. If my natural man is not subdued, then is Christ functioning within? I am separated from Christ and it will give me trouble in the church as trials will come from that problem.  Jesus said the candle stick will be removed from that church as their separation from one another reflects the fact they are separated from Christ. We want to press together.

Regulating the Inner Life

The thief on the cross, died in perfect hope. He was blameless before the Lord because Jesus had justified him. He had no way of correcting his life. He was hanging on the cross as he was a thief. Others lived all their lifetime to a particular point where like Apostle Paul, they could speak the words of 2 Timothy 4 7-8. I have fought the good fight, I finished the course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.
