7. The Rising of the Church Triumphant
By John Thiel, Light in a Dark Place Seminar, Study 7, mp3
We have scanned prophecy as briefly as possible to be able to grasp the important identifying experiences along the road, to illuminate the dark points of the church and observe how the prophecy actually led God’s people out of that darkness. Again and again Isaiah 8:13-14 was repeated, and all through the generations the same event has been displayed.
Isaiah 8:13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and [let] him [be] your fear, and [let] him [be] your dread.
6. The Church of That Other Angel
By John Thiel, Light in a Dark Place Seminar, Study 6, mp3
Our seminar is now culminating in the most important prophecies that relate directly to us. We want to identify distinctly what Jesus is saying to us in reference to the church of that other angel – the Revelation 18 angel. The angel represents a ministry, a leadership, as in Ephesians 4:11, which is active in saving God’s people, in the same way that salvation was of the Jews in the time of Christ. We are looking at the salvation of God’s people under the Revelation 18 angel.
In our last study we beheld God’s church of 1844 proceeding to a point in time in which they fail to repent and are spewed out by Jesus Christ. Here Jesus is speaking to the church in His time that was on its way out, and, as we will see, in the Spirit of Prophecy this is exactly the same statement that is used for the Seventh-day Adventist Church: Read the rest of this entry
5. The Church of the Three Angels
By John Thiel, Light in a Dark Place Seminar, Study 5, mp3
We are now getting a little closer to our time. In our previous study, our research took us to Revelation 3:7-13 – the period of Philadelphia. There, in 1833, God’s church identified where it stood by the study of two books. What were these books? Daniel and the Revelation. It was study of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation that William Miller researched, that was for him a light which shone in a dark place. He was an atheist who wanted to find his way as he was looking for a purpose and a meaning in life. He was asking, Where do I go here, Lord? and the Lord helped him through prophecy.
The prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation began to unfold before him, and there, with the beautiful study of the hour of God’s judgment come, the identification in Daniel 8:14 of a sanctuary being cleansed, the 2,300 day prophecy brought them right to 1844. What a revelation! If you were living in his situation, what a thrill would have been yours! Who accepted it? He was a very isolated person, until it gathered momentum. This prophecy brought about the study of the sanctuary, of the judgment, and of the second angel; because in this period of time, the first angel, and the second angel’s messages were being activated. “The hour of God’s judgment has come,” was the first angel’s message. 4. The First Advent and Succeeding Generations
There was a question that was placed in my mind when I was speaking to some of the leaders of this church, “Why do you people have so many conferences? Once a year is good enough.” Once a year is good enough, I was told, but here we are besides that having a seminar. Some visitors are here, and some are longing to be here. Why should we be here to have these kinds of meetings to sacrifice time and funds to spend time together like this? Read the rest of this entry
