The Harvest

After harvest

By John Thiel

Jesus had just given the parable of the wheat and the tares and the disciples asked a question:

Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. 37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one]; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Here is a challenging call. Who hath ears to hear let him hear. When is the harvest? Jesus said the harvest is the end of the world. What is he talking about? The majority of Seventh Day Adventists believe the harvest is when Jesus comes but true Adventist doctrine highlights something else. Daniel 8 identifies the end of the world: Read the rest of this entry

3. The Relationship Between the Wheat and the Tares

By John Thiel, Relationships in the Last Days Conference, Study 3, mp3

Scripture reading: Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

We are before the God of the universe.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.  Read the rest of this entry

4. The Relationship of Enmity

By John Thiel, Relationships in the Last Days Conference, Study 4, mp3

Scripture reading: Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [are] thy ways, thou King of saints. 4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for [thou] only [art] holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

This is our last study in this series on Relationships in the Last Days. We are launching out into the year 2009. As we launch out into this New Year, what are we to expect? and how are we going to meet it? Let us reflect now upon the meditations we have had through this conference.

When sin came onto the planet, what did God, He who orchestrates all relationships, introduce into the relationship between man and Satan?

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Read the rest of this entry

4. The Final Scenes of the Revelation 18 Angel

By John Thiel, Fourth Angel’s Message, study 4, mp3

From our previous studies we have seen clear evidence that the Revelation 18 angel is another movement.  This movement of messengers commenced in 1888.  Two messengers were specifically named – EJ Waggoner and AT Jones in the 1888 Minneapolis General Conference session. It was the revelation of Jesus to his people they would come forth who are faithful to all the Commandments of God.  The message of the 1888 angel created a rift in the church which some people opposed and had they not, it would have spread across the world and the Revelation 18 angel would have happened in great glory. 2. The Shaking

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 2, mp3

The shaking, the separating of the wheat and the tares, is part of the third angel’s message and of its work. As we explore the third angel’s message in Revelation 14, let us note in verses 9 and 10, and then 12 and 13, what the third angel is actually doing in his preaching.

Revelation 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

The angel is addressing a certain company of people, those who worship the beast and his image and who receive the mark in their forehead. They will receive the wrath of God.

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 8. The Remnant – Part 1

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 8a, mp3

As we look at the people of the third angel, who proclaim the three angels’ messages, we recall that the series on the second angel’s message concluded with “Reformation within the church” (the last study). We had there identified that in the second angel, Babylon is fallen, all the churches that rejected the message of the first angel fell, and even within the church that proclaimed the first and second and third angels’ messages there is also a need of identifying those who are faithful to the message they are proclaiming, and those who are not. The people who are represented by the three angels are just as vulnerable as all the church members in the previous church periods, which turned into Babylon.

Isaiah 1:21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

They were all faithful in the beginning, but then they became corrupt. The very church that is faithfully preaching the three angels’ messages can also fall into a state of harlotry. While they present the message of the three angels there is an internal sifting and polarization that takes place within the very church that is proclaiming these messages. This is expressed by Jesus in Matthew 24, where He speaks of these times, and of His second coming. As we know, the third angel gives a message that concludes with the coming of Jesus in the clouds, and referring to this coming event Jesus speaks these words to His disciples:

Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Read the rest of this entry

8. The Remnant – Part 2

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 8b, mp3

Revelation  3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

The scripture of Revelation 3:20-21 identifies the people who are responding to the call of Jesus. He is knocking on the heart’s door and they respond to the call. They open their heart and assimilate with Jesus. Then, as they assimilate with Jesus, they can conquer; they can overcome and then become the remnant of verse 21. We want to follow this sequence through in a living history.

Jesus wanted to convey to the disciples in John chapter 6 that He desires to come in to us, and to eat and drink with us. The message of eating and drinking of Jesus and with Jesus, is the very message that separates just like it separated the seventy from the other disciples.

John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Read the rest of this entry
