3. Let Him Be Holy Still

By John Thiel, Preparation for the Close of Probation Conference, Study 3, mp3

Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Probation has been given to us to become holy. The period of probation is a period of preparation to be fitted for the citizenship of heaven. The time when we will meet God is when a people will be holy.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

For us to be fitted to see the Lord we must be holy. That is the work of probation, to bring us to that point. Read the rest of this entry

The Close of Probation

By John Thiel, mp3

To deal with the subject of the close of probation for Sabbath keepers, we need to understand correctly the gospel. This is to turn our thoughts to the work of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation and understand the fall of man and know by experience the hopeless condition of a sinner and the power of sin over them.

How we are to be saved from this condition by Jesus Christ who came to save us? What is meant with the salvation of Jesus? Is He able to really save us from sin? The question is asked in Hebrews 7:25 where it says that He is able and we say is it really possible?

Will There Be Mass Martyrdoms Before the Close of Probation?

Doctrines are being taught that there will be mass martyrdom’s many Adventists just before the close of probation to leave a small number, namely 144,000 at the close of probation. Bible history shows in its always a small remnant that stands up for truth in times of crisis whilst the majority apostatise. The majority will  join the ranks of the opposition and not be put to death.

Soon God’s people will be tested by fiery trials, and the GREAT proportion of those who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal. Instead of being strengthened and confirmed by opposition, threats, and abuse, they will cowardly take the side of the opposers. {5T 136.1}.

Reaching the Point of No Return – Has Probation Already Closed For Some Individuals?

By John Thiel, mp3

Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

It has been stated to me several times over the past few years – while there is life, there is hope. This has been uttered in reference to souls who have turned away from the word and us in upholding the pure word. It is well true that probation ceases at death. Probation is closed for every individual who has died but is there such a thing as probation closing for those who continue to live? Is it is possible that a person has no more hope for the future or a person is absolutely sealed for the future to be saved? Is there such a thing as that happening while we are still living? 5. The Last Urgent Call of the Church Triumphant

By John Thiel, Fourth Angel’s Message, study 5, mp3

The call we are studying is the call of Revelation 18:4 which actually is an echo that has been the appeal of God throughout all the ages.

2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Read the rest of this entry

The Loud Cry Via the Church Triumphant

By John Thiel, mp3

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. Isaiah 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. 4. The Latter Rain

By John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 4, mp3

What is the latter rain and what has it to do with the third angel’s message? These are the two questions that we want to have answered, what the latter rain is, and how it is linked with the third angel’s message. We want to recall one of our studies regarding the angels and their messages. This was the very first study of the first angel’s message, and we read Zechariah 4. There we saw how much the angels have to do with the Holy Spirit:

Zechariah 4:1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, 2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all [of] gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which [are] upon the top thereof: 3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right [side] of the bowl, and the other upon the left [side] thereof. 4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What [are] these, my lord? 5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

This vision of the olive trees and the candlestick was a vision to describe the method of God’s work upon human beings, namely, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit. The angel continues to explain:

Zechariah 4:11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What [are] these two olive trees upon the right [side] of the candlestick and upon the left [side] thereof? 12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What [be these] two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden [oil] out of themselves? 13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these [be]? And I said, No, my lord. 14 Then said he, These [are] the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth. Read the rest of this entry

5. The Loud Cry

John Thiel, Third Angel’s Message, study 5, mp3

The latter rain is the teacher of righteousness according to righteousness. As the Holy Spirit worked through the angels it could be identified in the first angel’s message as the former rain, which prepared the way for the third angel’s message, which then becomes the latter rain. The people who were under the teaching of the first angel’s message understood the work of justification and sanctification, of Christ and His righteousness, all this apprenticeship that they entered into, as being the activity by which they were to gain perfection. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit they were ultimately to receive the finishing touch in the latter rain, which was their graduation, as it were. As we have seen through the statements of the Spirit of Prophecy, only the people who had been prepared and purified could receive the latter rain. This is summarized here:

Pure religion has to do with the will. The will is the governing power in the nature of man, bringing all the other faculties under its sway. The will is not the taste or the inclination, but it is the deciding power, which works in the children of men unto obedience to God, or unto disobedience. {RC 294.2} Read the rest of this entry

28. The Close of Probation

By John Thiel, First Angel’s Message, study 28,  mp3

God said in Genesis the day you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall surely die. Eve saw the tree and that it was good. That was the beginning of the terrible demise of human character.

Job 33:24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

The everlasting gospel has provided a ransom. The human race has hope because of the ransom. Anyone that chooses to embrace the ransom and enters into a covenant relationship with Jesus can commence a path that he who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. That was the beginning of eternal life by believing in the everlasting gospel in the ransom. Read the rest of this entry
