The Shepherd of the Flock

By John Thiel, mp3, pdf

Scripture reading: Isaiah 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry [them] in his bosom, [and] shall gently lead those that are with young.

According to the Scriptures, Jesus is the Shepherd of the everlasting covenant. And the qualities of this shepherd touch us, because He cares for His flock. Amen.

These are a strange combination of words. It is God that made us, not we ourselves. Bow down and kneel for he is our God. Do you like that? Do you like this humbling principle portrayed here? Is it not like the thought that they are sheep?  Dumb sheep? Followers? There are some people would rather be a goat. They are far more intelligent. Goats have character a frisky fun loving character. They are very self reliant and people like that thought. God knows the dependant condition of his created beings and especially sinful as they are.t Read the rest of this entry
