Dealing With Church Difficulties
By John Thiel
We are going to be shepherds of the flock, we will meet with church difficulties inadvertently. You can’t run away from it and they come because of two reasons. From what source do church difficulties arise?
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.
If you are born again, do you still have a natural man? That’s the battle between the spirit and the flesh. In the church we have people who have the natural man and it is from this source that church difficulties can come. The danger exists because of our natural man may momentarily turn away from our focus on Jesus.
The sanctification of the soul is accomplished through steadfastly beholding Him [Christ] by faith as the only-begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. The power of truth is to transform heart and character. Its effect is not like a dash of color here and there upon the canvas; the whole character is to be transformed, the image of Christ is to be revealed in words and actions. A new nature is imparted. Man is renewed after the image of Christ in righteousness and true holiness. . . . The grace of Christ is essential every day, every hour. Unless it is with us continually, the inconsistencies of the natural heart will appear and the life will present a divided service. {6BC 1117.15} Read the rest of this entry
Addressing the Balance of Truth
By John Thiel
As God’s servants in positions of trust we are responsible for keeping the balance of truth within the body of Christ. Jesus announced the characteristics of His disciples in reference to truth.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
He’s talking to His followers and He said do you want to be my disciples? Then you must continue in the word. If you will continue in the word then you shall know the truth and then you will be set free. The skill of a minister in the word is most essential otherwise he will present his own thoughts. The skill is simply conveyed in the Bible. Read the rest of this entry
Missionary Work In this Day and Age
By John Thiel
How do we do missionary work today? Is missionary work today different to the past? People are studying constantly church growth styles to increase numbers in the churches. They are training the people to do missionary work to a completely different order to what we do. What Sr White wrote back in her time if we were to come along to the homes of people today to pray to them what would they tell you? Are people spiritually in tune nowadays compared to Ellen White’s time? The market has become flooded and people have grown wise to it. It’s a psychology exercise from the world. The real way to help people come to the real Jesus… the real Jesus is hardly known today. We are nearly at the end.
Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find [it]. The Most Important Missionary Activity

What is our mission? What is our duty? Just to be church members? This church and message we represent is heading us in this direction:
Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Read the rest of this entry
Except the Lord Build the House
What was the object of Nehemiah and Ezra? To restore and build the house of the Lord. Is our work the same? It’s no different. They built a literal city and we are to build a spiritual city but it is a building nevertheless.
Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain. Read the rest of this entry

Rightly Dividing the Word
God has given us Scripture to prevent us being confounded.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
4:14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Read the rest of this entry
