The Quickening of Our Mortal Body

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

Scripture Reading: Romans 8:10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. What Has Diet Got to do with My Salvation?

Audio: mp3

When we talk about food and religion we get interesting mixes of opinions and thoughts. Some believe that we are saved by a special diet and some people say because we are saved we don’t need a special diet.

What has health got to do with our salvation? Has health got anything to do with our salvation? Am I saved by having a certain diet? Am I lost because I eat bacon? Am I saved because I don’t eat bacon? How does health and diet impact my spirituality? Many people are divided on the topic. Many texts are used to support that diet has nothing to do with our salvation. Classical texts that are used are Romans.

Romans 14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things:another, who is weak, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth:for God hath received him. 4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up:for God is able to make him stand. Read the rest of this entry

How God Heals Disease

By John Thiel

The Lord steps in and restores when people think everything is lost. We are to walk with God by appreciating how to make the word of God the avenue by which we walk with Him. We take one text and ascertain the thought and then meditate on it until it becomes our own. Through that avenue we make our walk with God.

How has it been with you and walking with the Lord? It is the sense of God’s presence that actually is a prescription of our disease. Psalms 16 deals with the sense of God’s presence.

Psalms 16:8 I have set the LORD always before me: because [he is] at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence [is] fulness of joy; at thy right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore. Life Giving, Healing Love

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

God Loved the Sinner

The love of God extended to us needs frequent consideration; why? Why do we need to think about the love of God all the time; frequently? The reality is that unless we do, we will miss receiving it because God’s love is an unobtrusive love. He never presses His love upon us. If we are sick mentally, spiritually or physically, God has given us love to heal us but we need to actually drink that in. In His unobtrusive love, consider how unobtrusive this is. Many times we just express the words of John 3:16 and we miss some precious elements within them.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

Who does God love? The world, that means every human being He loves so much that He was prepared to give them His only begotten Son; but will all the world benefit?

John 3:16 …that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Why Cheese Should Never be Introduced into the Stomach

“Divine inspiration over 100 years ago said that the effect of cheese is deleterious (harmful, toxic, damaging, adverse, detrimental). Science today finds that actually it gives the same effect as morphine.” Paul Godfrey

We may take food that is already poisonous, such as cheese, for instance. A very small piece of cheese contains millions of germs and germ poisons. It is simply decayed milk. {February 11, 1895 N/A, GCB 92.1}
But says one, “I have eaten cheese all my life, and it never hurt me.” If you have not been able to notice the injurious effects of it, it is because your liver has been able to destroy the poison. These injurious practices may sometimes be carried on for a long time, but there comes a time by and by when the over-worked system fails, and the health is gone. {February 11, 1895 N/A, GCB 92.2}
[A chart was exhibited before the delegates, representing the condition of the chemical processes of stomach digestion, as determined by exact chemical analysis of the stomach fluid obtained after a test breakfast, based upon the study of the fluids of over 4000 stomachs.] {February 11, 1895 N/A, GCB 92.3}
By the aid of these investigations many scientific facts have been revealed. We are able to learn with certainty the exact condition of the sufferer from indigestion, and to prescribe the proper treatment and dietary. {February 11, 1895 N/A, GCB 92.4} Read the rest of this entry

The Healing Rays of God’s Love

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

We are in the presence of the great physician and we need to receive the healing rays of His love. As we contemplated in our previous message, how to tap into that love of God so that we can have it and fulfil the command that we should love as we are being loved, we reflected on Christ’s example how He could only do as He saw the Father do. He could only do as He heard the Father. As He saw, and as He heard; He could do nothing of Himself. This expression as I see and as I hear my Father do, suggests a very intimate communion. To see and to hear and to relate to continually. We cited Moses’ experience in reference to this:

Hebrews 11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Moses made an experience which was relating to an invisible being. Someone you can’t hear with your ear or see with your eye, but he did as Jesus did.

Moses gained that which went with him throughout the years of his toilsome and care-burdened life,—a sense of the personal presence of the Divine One…. {SD 94.2} Read the rest of this entry

“And you never use any stimulants of any kind?” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.4}

None whatever. {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.5}

“Do you not drink tea or coffee?” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.6}

No; I never use them any more than I would any other poison. {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.7}

“But you drink cocoa and chocolate?” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.8}

No; I have no use for them; for while they contain a little food, they contain more that is injurious. {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.9}

“What, then, do you take for a ‘pick me-up’?” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.10}

I don’t take anything, for I don’t need it. I have something that is far better, namely, a “hold-me-up.” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.11}

“What is that?” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.12}

The continual presence of the fulness of the life of the Lord. “When I said, My foot slippeth, Thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.” And the mercies of the Lord are “new every morning.” It is far better to take something that will keep you always fresh and buoyant, than to take something that picks you up only to throw you down again, as all narcotic stimulants do. Now I have something that I take that is better than wine. {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.13}

“What is that, pray? I should like it myself; I thought you must have something to enliven you, though I can’t imagine what it can be, if you do not take anything containing alcohol, nor tea, coffee, cocoa, or chocolate.” {September 20, 1900 EJW, PTUK 608.14} Read the rest of this entry

The Physiology of Dress Reform

By Dr. Collins, Audio: mp3

This is a topic that is very rarely ever discussed and not well understood even among people who claim to be ‘dress reformers ’. It is a matter that needs to be better understood and a matter in which God Himself has supplied the basics for us to understand it—but mostly these have not been carefully studied and people have read a little and jumped tom any erroneous conclusions and ignorance has largely prevailed. It is our hope that this concise information will help many to respond in a more effective way to the questions raised by dress reform. Many people hear or read about dress reform, and many people reject dress reform, but most do not understand the laws of the body that are actually sound. With proper understanding of how the body functions, can cause people to re-evaluate their position on this topic. Many people will recognize as the ‘Virtuous Woman’ chapter. Questions Answered Regarding the Vegan and Vitamin B12

Written by Barbara O’Neil, from Misty Mountain Health Retreat Australia

What is vitamin B12?

  • Vitamin B12 is made in the digestive tract of animals, and is also present in the bacterial growth of the nose, mouth, base of tongue and upper bronchial tree. Vitamin B12 is also synthesized from food with the aid of intestinal bacteria.

Microorganisms, primarily bacteria, are the only known organisms that manufacture B12. These bacteria often live in bodies of water and soil. Animals get B12 by eating food and soil contaminated with these microorganisms. These bacteria also live inside animals’ digestive tracts. Plants do not require B12 for any function, and therefore have no mechanisms to produce or store B12. In animals, B12 is normally attached to a protein (very large molecules made up of amino acids) either for transport or storage.

About 60% of the total amount of B12 in the body is stored in the liver and 30% is stored in the muscles. The body has a special circuit between the digestive tract and the liver. Bile, which is mad in the liver and needed to digest fat, is secreted into the beginning of the small intestine. It is then reabsorbed at the end of the small intestine and taken back to the liver where it is used again. This circuit is called enterohepatic circulation. Omnivores normally eat about 2-6 mg of B12/ day and their liver normally excretes 5-10 mg/day via their bile. Healthy omnivores reabsorb about 3-5 mg B12 from the bile. A vegan with B12 absorption problems will develop B12 deficiency in 1-3 years because absorption problems will block the enterohepatic circulation. Adult vegans decrease their bile excretion to as low as 1 mg /day and reabsorb almost 100% of it, thus delaying B12 deficiency for 20-30 years. Jack Norris B.S. 23. God’s Way of Healing in the Sanctuary

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

There are a huge number of subjects that come out of the sanctuary, and as we look at those subjects they continue to expand in their subject matter. Each truth becomes broader and wider as we look into it. Every subject we have looked at so far has only laid out the foundations, the basics, but as we study the subject, we find that each subject on its own continues to widen. We could go on into eternity studying all the different subjects that come out of the sanctuary, because they will continue to increase in their depth of appreciation. The scripture of Ezekiel 47 displays this fact in connection with the sanctuary of heaven, that the sanctuary source flows forth in truth that unfolds and gets deeper and deeper. Diet from Eden to Eden

By Nathan Tyler

From the Bible record of history and prophecy.

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:13)

God’s people in the end are to restore and rebuild.

“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:12.

13. My Life and Health Principles

John Thiel, Audio: My Life and Health Principles

We are living in the Day of Atonement, in which an investigative judgment is taking place, and the life and death seriousness of that investigative judgment calls for a serious self-examination as it did in the typical Day of Atonement. They were called upon to fast, to examine themselves, to make sure that there was no sin left in their life. That was the symbolic picture for us living since 1844. Now we are called upon to fast and to examine our lives to make sure that for eternity our sins have all been confessed and we have put away our sins not only in confession but also in living reality. Therefore we need to examine ourselves. Read the rest of this entry

Weeding Out the Myths – Is Marijuana Safe?

By Health Action

With all the publicity surrounding cocaine use and other hard drugs, marijuana doesn’t get as much attention as it used to.

Yet an estimated 20 million Americans smoke it regularly-over three times more than use of cocaine.

Because smoking pot is so widespread, popular myths have sprung up about it. Many think marijuana is a harmless “recreational” drug. The experts disagree. If you’re thinking about smoking it, check the facts, not the myths, and think again.

Myth: Smoking marijuana is safer than smoking cigarettes. Read the rest of this entry

The chemical and mineral composition of our blood and saline fluids have an amazing similarity to sea water. Sea water contains 84 mineral elements. These same 84 mineral elements are found in our bodies in almost the same quantities. 24 of these elements are known to be ‘essential’ for life (i.e., you will die if any are missing). Whenever a dietary deficiency of any of these essential elements occur, the cells in our bodies lose ions. A loss of ions in our cells causes imbalances, a breakdown of the cell regeneration and growth process, and loss of the cells themselves, which does lead to nervous disorders, brain damage, muscle damage or illness. Water, How 8 glasses a day keeps the fat away

By Donald S. Robertson, M.D.

Incredible as it may seem, water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off. Although most of us take it for granted, water may be the only true “magic potion” for permanent weight loss.

Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.

Here’s why: The kidney’s can’t function properly without enough water. When they don’t work to capacity, some of their load is dumped onto the liver. Read the rest of this entry

Sugar and the Body

“We cannot get along without sugar. This is true, but in order to know where the danger lies we must consider just what the body requires in sugar supply. It is indeed a very important element in nutrition, but its nature and use are little understood by most people. The best form in which we can obtain sugar to meet our needs is from fresh fruit, dried fruits such as dates, and raisins or from honey. The sugar s derived from sugar cane, beets and the maple tree are all unfavorable and because they are of such wide use, the evil they cause is one that should alarm us.” The Original Diet page 43. Eating Between Meals

X-ray studies have been conducted to determine the emptying time of the normal stomach. Anything remaining in the stomach five hours after a test meal is abnormal. The stomach usually empties itself in 2 ½ to 4 hours. Series of tests have been run in which persons have been given routine breakfasts consisting of cereal and cream, bread, cooked fruit, and an egg. These stomachs were x-rayed and found to be emptied normally in less than 4 ½ hours.

Why I don’t Eat Meat

By Owen S. Parrett, M.D.

Is a person who does not eat meat peculiar or wise?

My mother told me that when I was a baby I refused to eat any kind of meat. She thought – as many mothers do – that I needed meat to make me grow, so she persisted in giving it to me until I acquired a liking for it. For the past fifty years I have chosen diet that does not include flesh, fish or fowl.

In my practice of medicine I have always told my patients the reason for what I asked them to do. I myself do not like to do anything without knowing why I am doing it, and most other people feel the same way. I am going to tell you why I am a vegetarian and why I believe you should be one to.

I love life and want to live as long as I can. These stirring and eventful days, and I want to know what is going to happen next. I have passed the Biblical three score years and ten, and am thankful to God that I still find the days too short for all I want to do. I still carry a full practice and like to dip into several outside activities, even if for only a few minutes a day. Read the rest of this entry

Impure Blood : How to Cleanse

By Jethro Kloss, Back To Eden

Causes: A wrong diet, constipation, overeating, eating a combination of food at the same meal that causes fermentation, or devitalized foods.  The very elements that would keep the blood pure are removed from many foods by the way they are prepared. For example, the heart and the outside of the wheat, the eyes and peelings of potatoes, the outside of rice, and the heart of corn, which is take out of the meal.  These are wonderful alkaline medicines and do a great deal toward keeping the blood pure.

Some other causes of impure blood are improper breathing, sleeping in rooms that are not properly ventilated, and lack of exercise.  Often the muscles are poisoned and feel tired because of the accumulated waste matter from insufficient exercise. Read the rest of this entry

Wine and the Bible

By Samuele Bacchiocchi, Ph. D.

The real human cost of alcohol transcends statistical figures of dollars, disabilities and death. No one can count the real cost of alcohol to our society in terms of retarded children, violence in the home, child and spouse abuse, divorce, rape, robberies, murders, sickness and death. A major factor which has contributed to the significant increase in the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the part of Christians in general is the prevailing assumption that the Bible teaches moderation, not total abstinence. Billy Graham himself stated in an interview: “I do not believe that the Bible teaches teetotalism . . .

Jesus drank wine.

“Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding feast. That wasn’t grape juice as some of them try to claim.” (Miami Herald (December 26, 1976), section A, p. 18). Read the rest of this entry

Colossians 2:16 explained

The Hebrew sanctuary was the not the real thing as it was a shadow of the real. The sacrifices that were being made were not doing very much for the sinner in reality because it didn’t really cleanse him. It was a symbolic function. It did not make him that did the service perfect as it was only in symbolic activities.

Hebrews 10:1 For the Law having a shadow of good things to come, [and] not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

It was a symbolic activity with the holy days, meats and drinks. They were not something that could cleanse a person from sin.

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.

Because these are not the actual body, when Jesus died and the curtain was rent from top to bottom this meant that the ceremonial Laws were no longer to be practised. It was done away with. Don’t let anyone put you back on that symbolic path anymore. It is finished. Let no one judge you in not keeping the ceremonial Laws – meats, drinks and holy days connected with the sanctuary. It’s not necessary, that was done away with. That’s what it means, don’t let anyone judge you for NOT keeping the ceremonial laws.

Isaiah 22 : Fasting in the Anti-Typical Day of Atonement

By Stephen Haskell

Isaiah 22:12 AND IN THAT DAY did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: 22:13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. 22:14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

IN WHAT DAY? The antitypical day of atonement.

“The Saviour says that during the time of the judgment, while individuals are being “accounted” worthy or unworthy, we are to take heed lest we become overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness. Surfeiting is taking too freely of food, whether it be good or bad. Drunkenness is partaking of improper food. We are to be the master, and not the slave of our appetite.” p. 310.

The Bible Reason for Vegetarianism

By John Thiel

Isaiah 22:12 And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with  sackcloth:  13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. 14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

The Bible says we are to refuse nothing that by way of God has created for us to enjoy;

Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of the which believe and know the truth.  For every creature of God is good and nothing to refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 1 Tim 4:3,4.

We are clearly told what is the food God has created as nourishment for his human creatures.

And God said, Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed: to you it shall be for meat (FOOD).  Gen 1:29

After sin entered:

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; Gen 3:18.

At his creation, food for humans was fruits, grains & nuts.  Herbs were created for animals.

And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. Gen 1:30. Read the rest of this entry
