“We are not saved as a sect; no denominational name has any virtue”

Isaiah 65:15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

Not by its name, but by its fruit, is the value of a tree determined. If the fruit is worthless, the name cannot save the tree from destruction. DA p.107

We are not saved as a sect; no denominational name has any virtue to bring us into favor with God. We are saved individually as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. And “by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” We may have our names recorded on the books of the most spiritual of the churches, and yet we may not belong to Christ, and our names may not be written on the Lamb’s book of life. Modern Israel

By John Thiel

There is a constant debate among believers of the Seventh-day Adventist faith regarding the mainstream organisation. By some it is said that we must not call the Seventh-day Adventist church Babylon. They quote Spirit of Prophecy statements applicable to the organisation in the time of Ellen White’s membership in it. Yet others assert that the organisation today has fallen and therefore can be called Babylon. It is the purpose of this article to research God’s word and find God’s judgement on the matter. Does He ever inspire His penmen and women to coin the Seventh-day Adventist organisation by the term Babylon when He sends messages in regards to its moral condition? The term applied to the Seventh-day Adventist organisation in Sister White’s time can be found among many references. Read the rest of this entry

Are You In A World Loving Church?

Regarding the testimonies, nothing is ignored; nothing is cast aside; but time and place must be considered. Nothing must be done untimely. {1SM 57.2}

What is a World-Loving Church?

If the professed followers of Christ would accept God’s standard, it would bring them into unity; but so long as human wisdom is exalted above His Holy Word, there will be divisions and dissension. The existing confusion of conflicting creeds and sects is fitly represented by the term “Babylon,” which prophecy (Revelation 14:8; 18:2) applies to the world-loving churches of the last days. {PP 124.1}

We should not be disheartened because those who have no love for truth refuse to be convinced by the clearest evidence. We need not flatter ourselves that the formal and world-loving churches of this age are more ready to receive the teachings of God’s word than were those of ages past. Paul’s worst enemies were among the Jews, who made the highest claims to godliness. It was to this class that Christ said, “Ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God.” The most bitter opposers of truth today are found among those who profess to be its defenders. {LP 278.3} Read the rest of this entry

What About a Sister?

There is but one church in the world who are at the present time (Sr Whites time NOT our time) standing in the breach, and making up the hedge, building up the old waste places; and for any man to call the attention of the world and other churches to this church, denouncing her as Babylon, is to do a work in harmony with him who is the accuser of the brethren. Is it possible that men will arise from among us, who speak perverse things, and give voice to the very sentiments that Satan would have disseminated in the worldling regard to those who keep the commandments of God, and have the faith of Jesus? {TM 50.2}

Again I say, The Lord hath not spoken by any messenger who calls the church that keeps the commandments of God, Babylon. {2SM 68.3}

We are in danger of becoming a sister to fallen Babylon, of allowing our churches to become corrupted, and filled with every foul spirit, a cage for every unclean and hateful bird; and will we be clear unless we make decided movements to cure the existing evil? {21MR 380.1} Read the rest of this entry

Is the Church Infallible?

Regarding the testimonies, nothing is ignored; nothing is cast aside; but time and place must be considered. Nothing must be done untimely. {1SM 57.2}

Seventh Day Adventists say it does not matter how far they go in apostasy, they are still the church of God. Sr White said the SDA church is not Babylon. At the time when Sr White said that, the Adventist church was still teaching correct messages. She made it clear that it was the commandment keeping people that made the church the church of God.

Again I say, The Lord hath not spoken by any messenger who calls the church that keeps the commandments of God, Babylon. {2SM 68.3}

God has a church upon the earth who are His chosen people, who keep His Commandments. TM page 61. Read the rest of this entry
