First Angels Message

26 The Hour of God’s Judgement

By John Thiel,  Audio: The Hour of God’s Judgement

This study goes into the detail of what is involved in the hour of God’s judgement. In our previous studies we considered the first angels message because in it the angel preached the everlasting gospel.

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,   7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him;

We have learnt the meaning of what it means to give God the glory.  I want to enlarge the point of how to give God the glory so we can launch out into the understanding of the hour of his judgement is come. Read the rest of this entry

29. The Great Commission

By John Thiel, Audio: The Great Commission

Let us consider the great commission as it is written.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

This is the great commission.  Does the first angel’s message have anything to do with this commission? It’s obvious as the first angel’s message takes place at the end of the gospel period – the hour of God’s judgment is come.  Jesus says I am with you until the end of the world.  At the time of the end this message, this work of the commission is relevant under the first angel’s message. The great commission has everything to do with the first angel’s message.

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,   Read the rest of this entry

4. God’s Holiness

By John Thiel, Audio: God’s Holiness

In this is study we explore through the scriptures what it really means to fear God and give him the glory for the hour of his judgment has come. The hour of his judgment incorporates both God judging us as well as God being judged. If it is the righteousness of God that works in us to transform the character and create a people zealous of good works then it’s God’s righteousness within us and the resultant activity of that righteousness that will be subject to the judgment. How does God take a sinful human being and train him up in his ways of righteousness? 23. God’s Perfect and Permissive Will

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

Through the process of justification we enter the lifework of sanctification in the same way as Christ did.

John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

As Jesus sanctified himself he and the believer are one in partnership in this transaction.

Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Read the rest of this entry

24. Victory in the Conflict between the Spirit and the Flesh

By John Thiel, Audio: mp3

The practical experience of the everlasting gospel is an apprenticeship that is a life-time work of sanctification. God varies His training in our apprenticeship according to His permissive and perfect will. We sometimes want things our own way in the sanctification experience so God lets us have our way until we come to the point where we are really suffering and then He says, this is the way I want you to go. As we are living under the three angels’ messages and so close to the end, we need more information so we can hasten our learning experience. To hasten our submission to God’s perfect will instead of His permissive will is required as there is not much time left. We need to understand something about ourselves – our dual nature that we have. Through the plan of salvation we have a dual nature and conflict between our two natures – the spirit and the flesh. Jesus addresses our condition at birth:

28. The Close of Probation

By John Thiel

Audio: Close of Probation

God said in Genesis the day you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall surely die. Eve saw the tree and that it was good. That was the beginning of the terrible demise of human character.

Job 33:24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

The everlasting gospel has provided a ransom. The human race has hope because of the ransom. Anyone that chooses to embrace the ransom and enters into a covenant relationship with Jesus can commence a path that he who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. That was the beginning of eternal life by believing in the everlasting gospel in the ransom. Read the rest of this entry

21. Justification

By John Thiel, Audio: Justification

Justification by faith is another dimension of our apprentice to Christ.  In our last study we learnt what is repentance is. Jesus showed us how to repent by him himself repenting:

Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what [that] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Repentance is always applied to someone who is a sinner. Jesus has come not to call the righteous but sinners. The provision for what he has called us to in the gospel is found in Romans;

Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

The provision that leads us to repentance is the long suffering, goodness and forbearance of God. The atonement of Jesus generates in our hearts the amazing love and goodness of God. It therefore causes us to soften, break and come to repentance.

Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a prince and a saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Jesus is the one who produces repentance that he then gives to us which is an apprenticeship to follow in how he repented for us. Repentance was given to us to repent. He gives repentance to Israel and forgiveness. To be a disciple of Jesus you need engage in forgiveness or justification with him. Read the rest of this entry

27. The Books of Heaven

By John Thiel, Audio: Books of Heaven

We are in an apprenticeship with Christ which is the process of having our characters changed into the image of Jesus.

Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

As we’ve studied the gospel we have heard of him and we have been taught by him and the consequential activity is addressed that we go ahead and make the change. Put off the old man with the deceitful lusts as the new man is to be created.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The gospel of Jesus is the creation of God. He takes the sinner and through the activity of the gospel He works on the sinner and recreates him. Its Gods work. Read the rest of this entry

22. Sanctification

By John Thiel, Audio: Sanctification

As we beheld the Godhead at work for us in our previous studies did we not desire to enter into a discipleship with God?  We are to come to the point where justification takes deep root inside of our heart.

We have no righteousness of our own with which to meet the claims of the law of God. But Christ has made a way of escape for us. He lived on earth amid trials and temptations such as we have to meet. He lived a sinless life. He died for us, and now He offers to take our sins and give us His righteousness. If you give yourself to Him, and accept Him as your Saviour, then, sinful as your life may have been, for His sake you are accounted righteous. Christ’s character stands in place of your character, and you are accepted before God just as if you had not sinned.  {SC 62.2}

Does that not relieve the person who is a sinner and who knows his condition in contrast to Gods perfection?  We are before God just as though we had not sinned.  This person is justified.  He is declared righteous, he is a just person.  He is free, he is at liberty.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Although we are at liberty, although in that condition with open face we behold the glory of the Lord and are changed into the same image, the changing continues.  A change has taken place in justification and now being justified we are set at liberty and now we move on in the change from glory to glory.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

He calls us, then justifies and then he glorifies us, or sanctifies. Read the rest of this entry

20. Repentance

By John Thiel, Audio: Repentance

The everlasting gospel under the first angel’s message is the detail of the apprenticeship that we commenced, an apprenticeship to Christ. We have come to know God and the amazing attributes of his holiness and his grace as revealed in the atonement of Jesus. As we studied all that goodness that comes from the atonement, it is revealed to us to become engraven into us through the apprenticeship. Through the study of prayer life and of the Word, it becomes embedded in us. We are to study for ourselves and as we study, it calls for another activity. Read the rest of this entry

18. Prayer Life

By John Thiel, Audio: Prayer Life

God reveals Himself in the Godhead through the atonement. He reveals His holiness, His grace and gentleness and provides the atonement for our sin. He gently intimates to us to start to move but not just to study His goodness. His goodness is meant to cause us to do something.

Matthew 10:24 The disciple is not above [his] master, nor the servant above his lord.

The atonement has made us so that we can pursue the following of Jesus to be like Him because He became like us. In other words, I have given you ample provision, now I invite you to take some definite steps.

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Do something. Lay apart the past life and receive the engrafted word that will save your soul. As you receive the engrafted word, do the word don’t just talk about it, don’t just hear it, follow me, do what I did.

John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honour. Read the rest of this entry

17. The Apprenticeship of Discipleship

By John Thiel, Audio: The Apprenticeship of Discipleship

The question may be asked, what has discipleship to do with the First Angel’s Message or indeed any of the other Three Angels’ Messages? In order to identify what discipleship is we read:

The angels are represented as flying in the midst of heaven, proclaiming to the world a message of warning, and having a direct bearing upon the people living in the last days of this earth’s history. No one hears the voice of these angels, for they are a symbol to represent the people of God who are working in harmony with the universe of heaven. Men and women, enlightened by the Spirit of God and sanctified through the truth, proclaim the three messages in their order. {2SM 387.1}

From this statement we understand that the proclamation of the three angel’s messages has to do with a people who are practically engaged with the truth they proclaim. They are people who work in harmony with the universe of heaven so that they are working, living, and actively engaging in the discipleship activity. If we are to be identified with the three angels messages we need to have the messages in our very experience in order to proclaim them. How can we possibly receive the living practicality of the three angel’s messages unless we are disciples of Christ? To understand discipleship we need to watch and examine the work of Jesus with his twelve disciples.

Matthew 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him. 15. The Marriage Supper

By John Thiel, Audio: The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Each member of the Godhead pledged themselves to become a facility for us, to help us out of our sinful fallen condition so that we might become holy as God is holy.  Mankind became estranged from God through sin.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

This scripture reveals that it is our iniquities that have estranged us from God.  The sins that commenced with Adam and continued right down through the line have created a separation of the precious relationship between man and his creator.  As we explored earlier in Adam’s experience, He became afraid of God because the sin he committed caused the love in his heart to be removed.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

The fear in Adam and Eve arose from of a condition of the heart that lost its love.  The love had been driven out of their lives through sin but despite this condition, God’s love was not affected towards them.  The Word entered into a decree with God that He would leave his lofty position in heaven to become the facility of Jesus Christ the Son here on this earth.  The mission of ‘The Son’ on this earth would be to rekindle the love in man which he had lost towards his creator.  The perfect love of Jesus would cast out all fear.  This was the messianic mission of Jesus and it is beautifully recorded in John 12. 9. Christ’s Atonement

By John Thiel, Audio: Christ’s Atonement

We have sought to understand giving God the glory so that we can worship Him who made heaven and earth in spirit and in truth with reference to the everlasting gospel.  In our current study entitled ‘Christ’s Atonement’ we explore another component of God’s grace in providing the healing antidote for a fallen sin-sick race.  In His manifold grace toward us God pledged us the facility of His Son Jesus Christ that by His death we might be redeemed and that by His life we might be reconciled or made at one with the Father. We will learn in all practical reality how to apply the healing remedy of the atonement to re-create our mind anew. Read the rest of this entry

7. The Holy Spirit

By John Thiel, Audio: The Holy Spirit

There are three dignitaries of heaven. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit who have pledged themselves to offer every facility in our recovery of spiritual salvation.  The first person of the Godhead pledged himself as a ‘Father’ that we might be his sons and daughters.  The second person of the Godhead the Word became ‘begotten’ of the Father as a Son that we might be coheirs with him. The third person of the Godhead the Holy Spirit, pledged himself the facility of ‘Another Comforter’.  In the following study we will identify why Jesus said that it was expedient for him to go away and for the Holy Spirit to come in his place as another comforter.  To enlarge in our minds that the Holy Spirit is the third intelligent, creative person of the Godhead, we will study his qualities relevant to our human needs as they are revealed through the scriptures. The Holy Spirit our comforter is bestowed with the unique and intimate ability of imparting the deep knowledge of God and of Jesus into the very core of man.  He has pledged himself the facility of a comforter for our benefit that through this imparted knowledge we might have eternal life. 6. God the Son

By John Thiel, Audio: God the Son

The first person of the Godhead became the facility of a Father to us in His effort to reach and save humanity. We now look at the facility that the second person of the Godhead provided for us when He took on the role of the Son. The Word of God laid aside all His glory and divinity and made Himself of no reputation to become begotten as a babe in Bethlehem.  This is God’s grace and mercy toward us and the wonderful facility that the Word of God pledged Himself for humanity.  We will come to realise that it was at an infinite cost and painful process that the Word of God became restricted to a seed in a woman’s womb, to grow up experiencing childhood, adolescence and manhood in the embodiment of sinful flesh.

During His life here on earth Jesus the Son was tempted in every respect that we are tempted but He overcame that He might be our example, the author and finisher of our salvation.  Through obedience He demonstrated his unwavering love to God, even to the death of the cross.  Through His sufferings He became perfected not only to be our sin bearer, but to demonstrate that sin in sinful human flesh can be overcome through our continual combined effort with the Godhead and the facilities promised to us IF we will come out from among them, be ye separate, and touch not the unclean thing. The life and death of Jesus Christ is the preaching of the everlasting gospel and God’s abounding grace toward us. 5. God’s Grace

By John Thiel, Audio: God’s Grace

God has pledged the facility of the Godhead for the benefit of our salvation. We are to worship God, give him the glory and worship him in spirit and in truth. Our understanding of his will assists us to worship him in spirit and in truth. When we are true to our vowels he says I will receive you. The Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, these three dignitaries of heaven pledge themselves that every facility shall be given to us.

When we have accepted Christ, and in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit have pledged ourselves to serve God, the Father, Christ, and the holy Spirit–the three dignitaries and powers of heaven–pledge themselves that every facility shall be given to us if we carry out our baptismal vows to “come out from among them, and be . . . separate, . . . and touch not the unclean thing.” When we are true to our vows, he says, “I will receive you” (MS 85, 1901). {6BC 1075.8}

Keep yourselves where the three great powers of heaven–the Father, the Son, and the holy Spirit–can be your efficiency. These powers work with the one who gives himself unreservedly to God. The strength of heaven is at the command of God’s believing ones. The man who makes God his trust is barricaded by an impregnable wall. {HP 176.5}

What a wonderful thing when we submit ourselves to the heavenly Father. He is Abba Father the one in whom I can be comforted and protected by. An impregnable wall with such a God as our creator being our Father, the one who pities and cares for us. We have nothing to fear. We have seen the degree of holiness that we are to inherit because he is our Father and we are to be heirs of God. We are actually able to inherit God’s holiness. We want to enlarge and explore this grace in the heart of the Godhead in the very heart of the Father this grace and God’s activity to make us inheritors of his holiness. The word grace is qualified in the Crudens concordance as “the free mercy of God, or the “enjoyment of his unmerited favour”. Merriam-Websters Dictionary: “Unmerited Divine assistance provided for the regeneration and sanctification of the human race.” It is a favour that he extends to us – his holiness. 8. The Fall of Man

By John Thiel, Audio: The Fall of Man

In this study we will examine the communion that first existed between God and man in Eden. God created man upright with no bias toward evil and as long as man remained loyal to the divine law, his conception of God’s immeasurable love toward him could only deepen and grow.  But when Adam transgressed the law of God, man became infected with a bent to evil in his mind which left unaided he was powerless to overcome.  When all should have been lost through sin, God in His divine love and foresight laid out a plan of salvation to reach and save us even before the foundation of the world.

Through the appreciation that it is us who have become separated from God through sin, the enmity and fear of God that is naturally ingrained in our carnal mind is understood in its proper light.  The antidote to our fallen human way of thinking can only be received through the Great Heavenly Physician.  He laid down the life of His son to redeem us that through the mind exercise of this redemptive program that we might begin the work of healing the mind and reconciling ourselves back to God. After the foundations of the world were laid the Godhead begins the process of creating man;

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The word man here involves both male and female.  They are separate entities and yet they are called man.  In like manner God is three and yet He is one.  The Godhead is at work in the salvation of man: Read the rest of this entry

13. Messianic Prophecies

By John Thiel,

Audio: Messianic Prophecies

The second person of the Godhead the facility of ‘The Word’ was provided for our salvation.  This enlarged to us that the work of Jesus as our ransom was of such a degree and that he actually had to become the very package of paying us out of our captivity.  He did this by becoming one with us and by dying the death that we have to die.  This beautiful ransom will not be effective for us unless we have entered into the experience of the Old Covenant leading on into the New Covenant.  This is a process whereby we actually need to make an agreement with God that we will promise to keep His law but then fail miserably in our sincere efforts to keep it.  It is only through this experience that we can actually come to understand what the ransom is really all about.  Our failure to keep the Old Covenant provides us with a deeper appreciation of our great need for Christ’s atoning work through the New Covenant and it is the depth of our appreciation of the atonement that determines its effectiveness in our lives.  In the scriptures the New Covenant is also referred to as the everlasting covenant or the everlasting gospel which is the very presentation of the first angel.  As we commence our study we will bring to mind the detail of the covenant as entailed in Jeremiah. 12. The Old and the New Covenant

By John Thiel, Audio: The Old and the New Covenants

Jesus became a ransom to pay out the captives from sin and death. Though kidnapped and held in captivity to sin and to death by Satan, the ransom was paid to release us. The manner in which Jesus accomplished this was that he himself became a captive of the strong man. Jesus entered into the strong man’s house and he came into the captivity and was held in a body of sinful flesh. It was through this process that he was entombed into death but he broke the fetters of both these captivating forces. He broke the fetters of sin in the flesh and he broke the fetters of death because in him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Read the rest of this entry

16. The Resurrection

By John Thiel, Audio: The Resurrection

The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost have all pledged themselves to provide every facility given for the benefit of sinful man. The Father provided the facility of being a Father to us; the Son became the facility of His son and the Holy Spirit became the facility of our comforter. As we studied an intimacy came into being through the wonderful atonement of Jesus Christ which was identified as a marriage and a marriage feast supper. Every quality and property of the Godhead was delivered to sinful man by the second person of the Godhead, Jesus Christ in that he became a man.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

God could freely give us all things through Jesus Christ because in Him dwelt all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. One of the properties that was encased in the gift of Jesus Christ is found in 1 Timothy;

1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

This is a particular property of the Godhead “which in his times he shall show”.  This tends to make us think that we will be bestowed with this particular property too. Did you pick up what the property was? It says “Who only hath immortality?” This is referring to Jesus – Jesus is the only one who has immortality – no one else. The scriptures reveal to us that through Jesus Christ we become heirs of God. Read the rest of this entry

3. God the Father

The angels are the messengers of God that communicate to humanity.  Humanity then takes the role of these messengers and proclaims the word of God to us in the three angel’s messages. Our second study was the revelation of the God whom the first angel’s message proclaims to us that we should worship.

Jesus became at one with us to cure our sinful condition. Jesus demonstrated the at-one-ment in the embodiment of his own sinful flesh because in him dwelt both the divine and human nature. This is also the ingredient of everyone who is re-born of the Spirit.

19. The Study of God’s Word

By John Thiel, Audio: The Study of God’s Word

This study is a continuation in the mini-series of discipleship. Earlier we studied how the Godhead pledged themselves to become the facilities of Father, Son and Comforter for us so that we might become partakers of God’s holiness.

Hebrews 12:10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

This exercise is to understand the everlasting gospel and the work of the Godhead that we ‘might profit and be partakers in His holiness.’ We want to appreciate the study of God’s Word in discipleship. The Bible has been the source of all our knowledge and this is how we receive instruction for our own wisdom.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The man of God may be perfect. This is the whole purpose behind the Godhead pledging themselves to become facilities for us so that we would be partakers in God’s holiness thoroughly furnished unto all good works. The ability to be perfect and to do good works is furnished by the study of the Bible. Here lies our apprenticeship in the study of God’s Word. We need to know how to learn from the Bible for our perfection process. An apprenticeship involves searching the scriptures. Read the rest of this entry

14. The Sanctuary

By John Thiel, Audio:  The Sanctuary

In seeking to comprehend the first angel’s message we have been searching deep into the everlasting gospel to see what the first angel is preaching. We discovered previously that the first angel is actually the proclamation of our Lord Jesus Christ through the everlasting gospel.  In this study we explore the work of Jesus as the anointed one- the messiah through the sanctuary prophesies. Christ’s messiahship as the anointed one involved Jesus coming to this earth and carrying our His anointed work in atoning for the estranged sinful human race. This was revealed by God aforetime that we might have a sure hope in the prophecies of the everlasting gospel.  Read the rest of this entry

11. Jesus Our Ransom

By John Thiel, Audio: Jesus Our Ransom

The first angel message declares that we need to fear God and give Him the Glory for the hour of His judgment is come.  In order to understand what is meant by the hour of God’s judgment, we first need a correct understanding of the everlasting gospel.  The atonement is the very hub of the everlasting gospel and it is through the atonement process that the God of heaven, the second person of the Godhead became at one with humanity.  The activity of Jesus becoming at one with us is the remedy for our sin sick minds.  We now look at the atonement of Jesus the man in terms of his becoming a ransom for us.

We were captives in the strongman’s house condemned to death but Jesus through the immeasurable cost of his sinless life and death was found worthy to be our ransom. The condition of man after the fall was hopelessly captive.  Our condition is so deplorable that we are now powerless to release ourselves from it.  In this sense, we truly are captives. By John Thiel, Audio: Angels Preaching to the Earth

The three angel’s messages are God’s warnings to his people in the last days however these warnings cannot be properly heeded without first understanding the great central truth from which all other bible truths cluster, this is the atonement of Jesus Christ. As we delve into the three Angel’s messages of Revelation 14 and the fourth angel’s message of Revelation 18, this wonderful and incomprehensible sacrifice that Christ made for us will become enlarged in our minds that we begin to understand the deep things of God in an intelligent, practical and living reality. God has elected to communicate the deep things about Himself to the human race. The scriptures reveal that these angels are actually physical movements of people which carry out and heed the messages given for their time. Read the rest of this entry

25. The 144,000 – From Whence Are They?

By John Thiel, Audio: The 144.000

The Godhead has provided facilities that we may appreciate the atonement of Jesus as he has become one with us.  By engaging with Jesus we engage in an apprenticeship with him learning the trade of salvation. This process of sanctification is meant to bring us to what an apprentice finally achieves, to gain mastery over this whole exercise.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

The apprentice ultimately will gain skill at the hand of the Master.  That is what an apprentice is ultimately meant to gain.  Those who have been justified finally approach to the full glory of that justification.

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just [is] as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Sanctification brings us to a conclusion. Read the rest of this entry
