03 Safe Inside

You are and I am a whole lot of decisions we have made in the past. What you have done when you were a child and teenager has impacted on who you are today. Does that make sense? Have you made the most important decision of your life? The first study I shared in this series ‘The gospel In Genesis’ was ‘A Chance to Choose’. The devil doesn’t give his people a chance to choose. Oppression and dictatorship doesn’t but God does. God gives His people freedom to choose life or death. That decision that we are to all make will make us somebody.

We are based upon our decisions in the past. We have to understand that we ourselves, are progressive. Character is progressive, it never stops. It is like time or the tide, you can never stop your character development, you can’t stop it. If you lie in bed all your life, your character will be built according to that decision. You can’t stop it. You can’t choose not to make a choice. In fact if you choose not to choose, you have made a choice already not to choose. But sometimes as Christians, do you ever wonder whether you are the Lords? Do you ever think, has the Lord received me? Do I belong to God? Have I chosen Him?

Often we wonder that and we start to doubt and there is one thing we have to understand about that is when we doubt we are not believers. I often think a church is just all the believers, all the members of the church, they are called believers. If we are doubting, we are not a believer. How can I make a decision for the Lord and then not doubt? When we make a decision for the Lord and a number of years go past, and you think, am I really the Lords? Do you know how you know if you are the Lords or not? Whether you have given yourself to Him. How do you know whether you have given yourself to Him? If you have done it or not. How do you know whether you’ve eaten breakfast, you know when you’ve eaten breakfast when you eat breakfast. If you ever doubt whether you are the Lords, well make a choice at that time that you are the Lords and guess what? You are. Because the Lord will not reject you. In fact the Lord has paid for you already. As He has purchased you, He has actually given you the option. You belong to me legally, you are mine, I’ve paid for you but I’m going to give you the choice of coming to me and give me that which I have purchased.

The Lord has already indicated, He has already given us all things. He has given us all blessings in heavenly places and we have to actually make a choice and that choice will concern our life. If we have made the choice, then you don’t have to doubt, you have made it. The next day you may think, am I the Lords today? If you wonder if you are the Lords today, make a choice today that you are and then you are. When you do a thing then you will know you have done it but if you haven’t done it, then you won’t be sure if you have done it or not. We make decisions. God has given us a decision to make and that decision is whether we are going to have the Lord or not. No man can serve two masters. We considered your face is telling because our decisions of our life impact our face.

When you see a young man who makes a bad decision, what does his face look like? His face is revealing the decisions he has made in his life. If someone has perhaps chosen a bad marriage and made wrong friends and gone down the wrong path and by the many years of that, it shows up on their face. Our face will tell the decisions we make. When we make a decision for the Lord, when we make a decision, to worship God correctly on the Sabbath day which is the day of rest, it’s a day of reflection of Gods power, not yours. As we reflect upon Gods power, we make a decision to be His, that time spent with the Lord will affect your face. The peace will shine on your face through trial. Yes, there are some difficulties and we will have struggles but the peace that passes understanding will keep your mind sane through it all so it won’t damage your countenance. We looked at the seal, the mark placed upon Cain was just affirming the decision made by Cain. So likewise Gods people have a sign by the Father. When they choose the Father there is a portent sign and that sign is the Sabbath and that is exactly what the word means.

Noah Safe Inside

There are enormous lessons held in Genesis that we need to learn. These things were written for you and me. Safe inside, this is all about Noah.

Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.

6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Those of you who love your children and your children have chosen the other way, how much grief does that give to the parent? Well God understands your grief. God understands fully and it wasn’t just one child. Mankind, the greatest number of men on the earth had chosen to walk away from God and it grieved Him. He was repented, He had sorrow for the situation because God loves sinners but He hates sin and sin is just the removing of God’s presence and therefore it is a curse. When God holds and maintains everything and then God has said look, I don’t want to look after my things, then things fall apart. Things start to degenerate. Mankind goes lower and lower in moral standard and every other nature gets lower and lower. The whole planet gets lower and lower because of man’s choices. God beholds this and He is so sorry. Job was speaking of the flood and it says, when they said to the almighty, go away, what can the almighty do? What can God do when people say go away? He can’t do a thing.

Genesis 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repented me that I have made them.

Here the Lord is now stating the results of sin. The wages of sin is death. Death is the absence of life. Who is life? God is life. God pulls back and these people will be destroyed. As He makes this decision and in this decision, the whole planet is affected. Mankind will be destroyed but a man finds grace in the sight of God and who is this man? Noah. Noah finds grace. What method was Noah saved by; by works or by grace? Noah was saved by grace. As Noah found grace in the sight of the Lord, Noah was a just man perfect in his generation and he walked with God. He had a relationship. The Bible says he was a preacher of righteousness. He understood righteousness by faith. He was a preacher just like the 1888 message was preached. This is what Noah preached, the righteousness of Christ and God. This is what Noah was all about and in this righteousness he found grace in the sight of God.

Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

He gives a reason why. Was that generation of Noah a last generation? Here is Noah and God was going to destroy the world but He had grace, Noah was saved by grace. Then He says Noah, come into the ark because you have been righteous. What is the pre-requisite of entering the ark? Righteousness. The Lord said it. Righteousness is the requirement to enter into the ark so He says I have seen these righteous in this generation, come into the ark. There was the call from God, come.

Genesis 7:7 And Noah went…

When the Lord says, come, do you go? Do you respond to Gods call? Do you make a decision when Noah had to make a decision go into the ark, what was his decision? I’m going. Did that affect his life? Oh yes. Don’t under-estimate the power of your own decisions. They are enormous what you decide to do. Whether it be good or bad, they are an omen, your decisions are. He went into the ark, the door was shut. Whoever was in, was in. Whoever was out, was out.

And then part of creation started crumbling. The waters that were divided from above came down. The windows of heaven were open. Not just that but the waters that were divided beneath, broke up. The fountains of the deep broke up. The water from above and below started coming back up. It was a reversal of creation. Sin reverses creation. Whatever God does, sin does the opposite. If God does something good, sin makes something bad. If God makes something living, sin makes something dead. Does that make sense? This is what happened. Creation was reversed. Choices are pretty big aren’t they? Very big, to reverse what God has done and that is the power of our choice. This is what you would call the weak spot in creation where He would make everything so good and He would give man the choice of the future of everything He just made but He did it because He loved and because He only believes in freedom. He only believes in real choices from real people that He has made. Whatever the consequences are of what they are, let us not be deceived, god is not mocked. What a man sows, that also shall he reap.

2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned [them] with an overthrow, making [them] an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

Here is an example so you can have an intelligent choice. God doesn’t just give you a choice, He allows you to make an intelligent choice. He doesn’t hide anything, He doesn’t have any secrets that are going to trick you, He is not a deceiver. He lays it straight out, this is the reality. If you eat thereof, in the day you eat thereof, dying you shall die but the deceiver will tell you something different – you won’t die. This example set before us of Noah, this story is good news. The story of Noah is good news. Do you know why? Because if Noahs story didn’t happen the way it did, we wouldn’t be here today so it is good news. That is the grace of God to be able to save those who choose Him. How this actually works is what we want to go into because God wants everyone here to make a decision today.

As our character is progressive, we become a different person according to the choices we make. What you were ten years ago, you are different to what you are today. In fact what you are in a year from today will be different. What you will be tomorrow will be different to what you are today by degree. We need to make a choice today because I could become a type of person that is unable to make any choice tomorrow. I could procrastinate and say I will do it tomorrow but I may change to a position where I can’t make a choice anymore. Esau had that problem. He made decisions and thought afterward may I will change but he was so different to what he used to be that now he can’t choose although he sought it carefully with tears.

How do you know that you will be the same person you are today to be able to make that choice. The Bible says it clearly, today if you hear His voice harden not your heart. Today is the day of salvation. Today is the day to choose. You can choose again, if you chose yesterday, choose today. Don’t think I gave my heart to the Lord 2 or 5 years ago so why do I have to do it today? Do it again today. Make the choice, keep making the choice everyday of your life.

2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

People want to be ignorant of creation. If you want to be ignorant you just don’t remember it. If you don’t remember, that means you are ignorant. If anyone wants to be ignorant, just don’t keep the Sabbath properly. You will be ignorant as the Sabbath is the memorial of it. If you don’t want to forget, keep the sabbath. If you do want to forget, don’t keep the Sabbath.

2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

What happened there is happening again. We have the same choices they had to make, we have to make today. They weren’t in the dark with what the results were, Noah was a preacher of righteousness. For 120 years he told them the realities of things. Someone once said, what if so many people want to be saved that they all couldn’t fit on the ark? Well God wouldn’t have destroyed the world with a flood, it’s very simple. The fact is that when there is a vast amount and there are so few, He would have saved Sodom and Gomorrah if there were ten and there weren’t even that. There weren’t even five. Our world is actually kept in store by the same word. Did it happen back then? We have a solid prediction of what is going to happen to our planet. How many of you are insured? How many have an insurance coverage for this enormous event about to take place. How many have made their policy?

We need to prepare. God tells us before had so we can avoid it. If He didn’t want us to avoid it He would wipe us out. He has told us beforehand why? Just to interest us? Just to have something to do? To make a choice, that’s why He told us, to make a choice to your life. What preparation have you made? Some may say I’ve chosen to be a Christian, I’ve chosen to be baptised into the remnant church of God. Can we take out an insurance policy that the cover is not adequate? Is that possible? Is it possible for me to say okay I need an insurance policy, I need to take something out to protect me and is it possible to take something out that doesn’t quite do the job? That doesn’t quite cover it over?

Isaiah 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which [is] in Jerusalem.

He is talking about religious believers. You could say Christians in today’s mentality or Gods people. The people who are believers who claim who profess to be believers. These are the people that have pulled out an insurance policy that perhaps is not adequate.

Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

Here is the insurance policy, we have doctrines, scriptural doctrines that we have invented that tell us we will be okay. We have an idea, we have the teaching that if you are a member in the remnant church with the name on the paper then you are home and hosed, then you are covered. There are some that believe well when we die we get another chance, there is life after death because they make lies their covering. But to them it’s not a lie, to them they have made an agreement with it and as far as they are concerned it is their truth. This is the question, is your doctrinal covering sound? You know what will prove whether its sound or not? The tempest will prove if it is sound or not. It will be seen if you are fully covered or not. We recall the floods in Queensland and how many people though they had cover but they didn’t. How did they know they didn’t? The flood had to come. It is an unfortunate reality that many people will not know they had inadequate coverage until the flood as they don’t check. How about we examine ourselves if we are in the faith, not examine other people whether they are in the faith or argue with the people next door if they are in the faith but whether I am in the faith. If I am not, then I am not covered.

Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [stone], a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

28:19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only [to] understand the report.

28:20 For the bed is shorter than that [a man] can stretch himself [on it]: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself [in it].

He bought the wrong size bed, the blanket was too small, the covering was not adequate. these are people who know they need a blanket, they know they need a bed and they say we had better get one. They know the storm is coming and they said let’s make a choice to get a bed, they just didn’t do it well enough.

Two Men

Jesus gives an illustration very clearly by saying there were two men who both heard the preaching of Jesus Christ. They both heard the word, both of them lived in the same area, they both had a storm coming, they both felt we need houses. Both of them were convicted from Christ’s teachings that a storm was coming. One man decided to build his house upon the sand, the other man decided to dig down below the sand to get to the rock. It wasn’t that one found a bit of rock on the hill and the other said there’s no room for me, I’ll build on the sand. No, Luke says that the wise man dug down and found the rock. Are you willing to do that? Are you willing to dig down and make sure you’re anchored in the rock? It’s hard work to make sure you have the right insurance policy, you have to read the fine print. We need to print the fine print, it’s called the Bible. Let us read it and not be surprised when the day shall overtake us as Gods thought towards us are not thoughts of evil but of peace to give us an expected end. He doesn’t want to surprise anyone.

Isaiah 28:21 For the LORD shall rise up as [in] mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as [in] the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

This is none other than the day of the Lord the judgement that is just before us, the pouring out of the seven last plagues. This is the scene, this is the trouble, we are not taking these scriptures out of context.

Isaiah 26:16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer [when] thy chastening [was] upon them.

What experience are they going through? Trouble.

Isaiah 26:17 Like as a woman with child, [that] draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, [and] crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.

This is a real problem, this is pain, it’s coming. I recall a recent sermon called ‘Hope With Pain or Hopeless Pain’. Either way you get pain. You want the hope in it or not? Make sure you have your coverage because this is it, like a woman in child bearing.

Isaiah 26:18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind;

My little baby has much pain when she has wind and it’s all in relation to the being. It is as hurtful to her as it would be for an adult to have pains in contractions. They cry and cry for hours.

Isaiah 26:18 we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 19 Thy dead [men] shall live, [together with] my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew [is as] the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

This is talking about the resurrection, the time of Jacobs trouble, the destruction of the wicked and then this instruction comes;

Isaiah 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. 21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

As Noah found grace in the sight of God, then you and I if we have grace, if we are saved by grace, God will say come enter in. When the Lord says come, what will you do? Will you go? The call is come out of her my people that ye be not partakers of her plagues. Come out of worldliness. I might think I’m out of the Catholic Church so I’m out of Babylon. People believe if you come to my church you will be saved. If you glue yourself to the pews, you will be saved. Just stay there in the church. Come, my people, enter in for the Lord cometh out to punish. We want to make sure that we are not coming into some lie that people say if you be a member of our church, you will be saved. We want to know where do we go, where is the hiding place, where is God calling His people to come into to be safe? It’s very clear, it’s not a church organisation, it’s not a structure of institutions.

Isaiah 32:1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. 2 And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

Who is going to be like that? A man, a person is going to be a hiding place. That’s what the Bible says. That person is this rock, this great rock like the rock of ages. Jesus Christ is this rock.

When Noah went in, what happened? The door was shut, was the preparation that Noah did according to the commandment of God adequate for what was coming. Was it adequate? By God’s grace it was. By God’s protection it was adequate. Do you think it was a bit trying and stressful in there? Do you think there were temptations of their family saying maybe we should hop now? Oh no, they thought, we’re staying in. The door was shut, did Noah shut the door? Ham? Shem? God shut it. God sent His angel to shut the door and no man could open it. No man could open the door. Those who are out were out.

Strive To Enter In At the Strait Gate

Strive to enter into this narrow way. The word strait means difficult. Is it difficult to enter into the ark? Is it difficult to be hid in Christ? Some may say Christ had my burden so is it easy or difficult? Strait is the gate. Which is harder; impossible or difficult? Impossible is harder than difficult. Hard is easier than possible therefore the hard way is the easy way because it’s possible but it’s hard nevertheless. This requires to be able to go in and leaving of all things. When you look out, there is no rain, there is no evidence. I can’t see anything, I’ve got my job, I just got married, I’m busy earning money, I don’t have time for this, I can’t afford to do this. It’s hard. Strait is the way but strive to enter in at the strait gate.

Luke 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

Does this happen? The master of the house stood up and shut the door and then it was, Lord, perhaps we made the wrong decision and perhaps they did. There is a time coming where the door is shut. We want to seek the Lord while He may be found because there is a time where He won’t be heard or near.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael…

Michael was the chief prince, He was the master of the house. When He stood up He said;

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Where do you want your membership? This is the book that will have an accurate recording of who is going to be in – reservation. There will be enough room.

The Time of Trouble

Revelation 3 says to the overcomers, I will not blot your name out of the book of life. In other words, just because you built the ark, just because you were the person employed by Noah and employed and a supportive element of Noah, it doesn’t mean you are going to be in the ark as your name can be taken out. Just because we are sitting here, it does not prove anything in itself. This equivalent of being hid in Christ is the equivalent of being in Noah’s ark. Being in the lambs book of life is also equated with being sealed in the forehead. They are all the same thing. The ark, the book, the Lord Jesus and the seal of God because in Revelation it says;

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

This whole thing is stayed back for one reason only, I want to seal the servants of my God in their forehead. Then you know how many seats were on the boat, 144,000.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

He is like the mount Ararat experience. After the experience has gone on and here is the lamb, Jesus Christ and with Him are the people who have survived this enormous catastrophe. These people are going to populate the new earth along with those that were redeemed out of the dust of the earth. He will call them out of the dust of the ground. The resurrected ones with will make a large company. But here are the people that have gone over the storm. These are the ones that have been alive during it. What did they have? They had the Fathers name written in their foreheads. We are looking at Noah’s ark, being prepared for it and not having enough cover as it is highly likely to happen that your blanket and will be too short for you.

We now want to consider what it means to be in the ark or what it means to be in Christ or what does it mean to be in the lamb’s book of life or to have the name written on your forehead. When we have our forehead, that’s the place where we chew over things in a deliberate conscious manner. When you have a subject to really go and chew over and its important and the treasure of your life, it will be in the forefront of your mind. It will be the thing brought to mind. What is brought to mind? The Fathers name. It is to be brought right there to be grappled with and thought upon and a treasure of yours. The Fathers name is written right here.

The Name of God

People go on today about the different names we should call God and the proper pronunciation of it and how everything has to be Jewish or Greek or whatever they say. Look at what God has to say. Moses is walking along and he stops and sees a bush burning. It’s not burning, its flaming but not being consumed so he draws near and the angel of the Lord calls out and says, take off your shoes, you are on holy ground so Moses wonders what is happening and he gets instructions from God to go and deliver Israel. He has a couple of questions for God. He doesn’t quite understand. God doesn’t mind being asked questions. If we don’t quite understand something, just ask God. Moses had something to ask God.

Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, [when] I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

That’s an interesting name, I AM THAT I AM. In other words He is what He is. If you understand what He is then you know He is that and that is His name. His name is what He is. If I was to say to you my name is Paul Godfrey and we shook hands and then you saw me walking down the street and you said, I know that man, his name is Paul Godfrey, does that mean you know me? You know my name, you can pronounce it correctly, you can say it right, does that mean you know me though? Not at all. You may not know me from a bar of soap although you could say it in Greek or Hebrew, you still might not know me though.

God says, this is a great name, I AM WHO I AM. What an interesting name. Are we going to say hi I AM THAT I AM? We need to know who He is to know who He is and this is why He says it. Because if you don’t know who He is, you won’t know who He is and therefore you don’t know His name. God is always about keeping His name a little secret.

When Manoah was instructed about Samuel and he saw on the altar the flame coming and he talked with the angel and he said tell me your name, He said why do you want to know my name seeing it is a secret? Seeing my name is wonderful, why do you want to know it? Jacob had the same situation. He was wrestling with the angel and the angel said, what is your name? My name is Jacob. That means a deceiver or supplanter because that was what he was but he became someone else. He got a name change because became someone else, he was converted and then he says you tell me what your name is and He says no, I’m not telling you. You need to know me if you want to know my name because too many people take the Lords name in vain. That means to put it upon the lips to verbalise it and not know who He is and to say this particular word and then you will be saved. No, you need to know God for this is eternal life that you would know Him and Jesus Christ whom thou has sent. When you know Him, then you will know His name because He is who He is.

Exodus 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this [is] my name for ever, and this [is] my memorial unto all generations.

Including the last generation. Moreover is an addition, an extra bit of information is so vital for us to understand. My name is part of my memorial. This is so you can bring it to mind. This is my name and this is the memorial. His name is connected with what? The memorial. If you take away the memorial, will you know His name? No because the memorial is to bring to mind who He is. God wanted His works to be remembered according to Psalms 111 so He had made a memorial for His wonderful works so that we would remember what God has done. When we think about creation and the Sabbath, we are to dwell on the fact that He made the heavens and the earth and He is who He is. Is He the creator? Is that part of His name? If we understand that He is the creator, then we are off to a good start. But is He the sustainer? Is He the redeemer?

As we dwell upon this and chew it over in our minds and as we treasure this fact that God is my creator, sustainer and redeemer, in all these facets when I would look upon creation, I would say God is amazing and He is who He is. Then I have His name in my forehead as I’m dwelling on who He is. That is His name forever unto all generation. This is a memorial. You can’t take away His name out of the Sabbath day. It is a very portent sign. If we understand the power of creation we will understand the power of the gospel and redemption. When we are understand the power of redemption, then we can have peace and our peace will be like a river.

It’s Not About You

God says I AM the creator, I made the trees, I AM. If God is, then I am not. If God is the creator then am I? No. If God did all these things then did I? Man is sitting on the first Sabbath with God thinking I didn’t do anything here, that is a little bit humiliating. Have you ever been to someone’s house as they said come to my house I just planted a nice garden, built a nice shed, new cars, I’ve been working really hard, I have all this money here, how would that make you feel? If you didn’t have too many things, if you had nothing and you went to a person’s house and they started showing off all the stuff they had done, how would that make you feel? In the carnal nature it would make you feel jealous and worthless. This is why the carnal nature can’t keep the Sabbath day because it’s all about God and nothing about us. We come to the Sabbath and we worry about all our problems and all the things I’ve done. I’ve been to this missionary field and I’ve baptised this many people, that’s not Sabbath keeping. It is not about me or you, it is about God.

God made man last because man didn’t suggest some good ideas in creation. How about you make this animal like this. If man had put in suggestions to the creation, then he would have wherewith to boast. See this little bit, this is my special part of creation and I like this the most as I actually love myself more than God. The Sabbath is designed to humble man to realise that I am a piece of dirt but at the same time it makes us realise that God loves me. God loves the piece of dirt that He made so much that He would spend time with it. This is the strait gate, humility. Jesus said when He came to earth, blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the spiritual bankrupt people, blessed are the people that have nothing because heaven is their home, heaven belongs to the people who have nothing. Happy are these people. Happy are the people who realise that they are a piece of dirt because God has built a city for them because He loves them immensely. In fact so much that He would take His glory and put it in the same dust. He would lay His glory in the dust to save the dust that He made so His dust maybe glorified. Isn’t that amazing? That is truly astounding and this is the God we worship today.

The Lord of the Sabbath

I am the Lord of the memorial of creation. What is that saying? When Jesus said that to the Pharisees, He was claiming to be the creator the world. I am the Lord of the Sabbath. They understood why it was there, they could read, they knew what He was saying. Man realises that we are so dependent, we are so dependent upon God. The breath in us is so delicate. We are a walking airbag and if the air goes out we are dead. We start to think I actually need somebody to protect me. How easy can a balloon pop? Why can’t your lungs just pop? Just need a little bit more atmospheric pressure and off you go. What is man that though art mindful of him?

Job 34:14 If he set his heart upon man, [if] he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; 15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

How many of you appreciate driving your car? Do you appreciate it? Do you thank God for driving your car? He could just say, you know that air in your tyres is mine? That belongs to me, thank you and take it away and would have a very rough ride. He could do it with your lungs. He could say that air in your lungs, that breath, that’s mine, thank you and you would cease to exist and we challenge God? We think that we know something when we are just a little bubble? In fact James says it. What is man he is just a vapour. He is like a mist that vanishes away, it’s gone. That is what man is and when we see creation, we understand that the glory of man is like grass. In fact this is the reformation message that we without God are nothing.

The Last Message

If Baal be God, worship him seeing as he can’t do anything, he might be asleep. That is what Elijah said. He might be on a holiday gone somewhere, he didn’t do anything. Baal, the god of this world does nothing including mankind but the God of heaven does all things.

Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Is this the reformation message yes or no? Yes.

Isaiah 40:4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see [it] together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it]. 6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh [is] grass, and all the goodliness thereof [is] as the flower of the field: 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people [is] grass.

This reformation message is telling me that I am a piece of grass that God just blows on and it just falls over. Creation will put us in our place if we will dwell long enough on the fact that I have done nothing. I haven’t done anything to make this place but God made it for me and He made Sabbath for me. It is all about God and if we can be pleasurable in this state then we know we are turning from death unto life as self is going. Self can’t keep the Sabbath day. If I go to church and go on about my abilities or have in my mind my abilities, I am desecrating the Sabbath of the Lord our God. If I am dwelling upon all my problems, if I am dwelling upon self through this day, I am breaking the Sabbath. It is not what it is there for. This challenges the carnal nature as it is not subject to the law of God neither indeed can be. Man bucks up against it. We would rather another day that was about fun and playing in the sun, perhaps a Sunday would be a good idea.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

All His ways are righteousness. If we humble ourselves and understand;

Psalms 145:14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all [those that be] bowed down. 15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. 16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. 17 The LORD [is] righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

When we look upon creation we are dwelling upon righteousness and holiness in which we had no part. When we dwell upon the gospel and the character of Jesus Christ, we had no part in that either. Whether it is the creation or the recreation, we had no part in it. This righteousness will do something.

Isaiah 32:2 And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

That sounds like a good insurance assurance.

Isaiah 32:18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

When are they going to do this? In heaven? No.

Isaiah 32:19 When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.

This is when righteousness is manifested in the time of trouble. Righteousness, the effect is peace, it is not paranoia, it is not stress. If we are getting stressed with all the rigidity of the right and wrong thing, then we are in the wrong place. The effect, the product is peace. If you are not getting peace, what is the problem? Is righteousness the problem? I’m in the wrong place. Assurance and quietness in God. The winds are howling about, problems everywhere and I am locked in to the righteousness of Christ and the comforting thing is that I didn’t do anything about it. I didn’t build this house, I didn’t create it, God made it for me and I made decisions through my life to accept it. I made decisions to follow Him and to respond to his call come enter in, and shut the door. I will respond to Gods call.

The Sabbath is that we understand who God is and who we are not. When we understand who God is and when we are not, then we will know that He is who He is and I am not who He is because the man of sin thinks that he is who He is. God wants to make sure that no, you are not who I AM and you are who you are, a piece of grass. That is the name of God in the forehead. God’s name right there is the safety. God’s name in the forehead is understanding who He is and you can’t know who He is unless you spend time in knowing who He is. you can’t know who He is until He will be with you in that time so He has to bless that time with His presence and there is only one time that He said He will do that and that is on the Sabbath day, this portent sign of the Sabbath with His incredible children that He made. If we do that, we will get the Fathers name in our forehead and we will know His name.

Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day; 6 [Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday.

Moring after morning it is going to get worse and worse and no letting up. Think of being in the flood. Water and water and it rained and rained day and night for forty days. When is it going to let up? Day and night no rest from the full catastrophe. We recall the tsunami in Japan. Did you see it just didn’t stop? It just went on and on but then it did stop. You imagine stuff like that, catastrophe and not just on a natural level but the mental pressures on and on, day and night.

Psalms 91:7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

You are going to be standing on Noah’s ark looking out –wow. You will see it, but it will stop right at the barrier where Christ’s protection lies, if you are in Him.

Psalms 91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, [which is] my refuge, [even] the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Where is the dwelling? Christ Jesus.

Psalms 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

Why will we be protected in the time of trouble? Because we will know God and that He is who He is. Therefore we will rest in the knowledge of God. The Bible says peace be multiplied unto through the knowledge of God. This is multiplication, it is not just a little addition building up, it is multiplication so if you receive a certain amount today, then the next day you don’t just get the same portion but a multiplication of it and it is just a huge river experience.

Rivers work on multiplication. God is going to give you peace like a river through knowing me. Can you see how important it is to know who God is? I’m not just saying that yes, He factually created but to dwell on it and I can’t verbalise who He is because it is beyond verbalisation. If it could be, it would be but it can’t therefore He says I’m not going to tell you my name, it is secret. I AM who I AM and if you want to know my name, get to know me. As we get to know Him, we become humbled and realise who we are because we know who He is and we aren’t who He is.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

If you treated someone the way you want to be treated, can that be humbling? This is about humility and service, the Lords ordinance to wash the feet. The disciples would love someone to wash their feet but they didn’t want to do it. Humility is the strait gate. Humility is this door, this gate is big enough for the biggest sinner but will not let the smallest sin through. Even the little ounce of pride can’t fit through this gate.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Here is this way and then many people are going into destruction.

Matthew 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

There is a highway and the majority of people just head on down to destruction. They are happy with that and there are a few people that find the gate. One person came up to Jesus and said;

Luke 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

If you want to understand these two statements that Jesus made, He says broad is the way and many go down the broad road. How many people find the strait gate? Few people have found the strait gate and how many want to enter in? Many people want to enter in at the strait gate but they are only the many of the few. The majority went down the big road. Few found it and many wanted to go in and couldn’t. we are talking of a few of a few and how many were in the ark? A few in 2 Peter 3:20. It says few therein eight souls were saved. We are talking of a little number because what it requires is the hardest sin to get rid of – pride.

The Sabbath is designed to get rid of it if it is kept properly. There are many people that don’t want to keep the sabbath. They will go straight on by to their destruction. There is no rest for the wicked. Then there are a few who find this gate, this entrance into knowing God and in this few there are many of the few who don’t even get in. What that is saying is that the majority don’t keep the Sabbath and of those Adventists who keep the Sabbath there is only a few that keep it properly. Do you keep the Sabbath properly? Do I keep the Sabbath properly? Do I get stressed because the sun is going down and I’m late agggh… and I come to the Sabbath and I’m stressed. Is that keeping the sabbath? Can I dwell on the power of God when I am shaken to bits? It is not Sabbath keeping. Or I may say I am not going to work but I will sit in the pew and think about work. Is that keeping the sabbath? Or I might keep the Sabbath really well and make sure everything is so right and then I will be dwelling on how well I’m keeping the sabbath. Is that keeping the sabbath? No, it’s not keeping the Sabbath at all.

Few there be that find it. To enter into Christ means humility and to understand our position in relation to Gods position. If you want to make something really small, put something big next to it and then it will be really small. If we want to become humble, not voluntary humility but really humble, we need to be next to be someone huge and the bigger you make God, the smaller you make yourself. The smaller you will make yourself.

Are You in Christ?

Are you in Christ? Not if you do not acknowledge yourselves erring, helpless, condemned sinners. Not if you are exalting and glorifying self. If there is any good in you, it is wholly attributable to the mercy of a compassionate Saviour. Your birth, your reputation, your wealth, your talents, your virtues, your piety, your philanthropy, or anything else in you or connected with you, will not form a bond of union between your soul and Christ. Your connection with the church, the manner in which your brethren regard you, will be of no avail unless you believe in Christ. It is not enough to believe about Him; you must believe in Him. You must rely wholly upon His saving grace. {5T 48.3}

A big mistake is made when we become religious and we have lived a life of major sin and have started reforming and then we think we are better than we used to be. We would say, brother, I know how you feel, I used to do that. I used to have all these problems but I don’t anymore. If we understood the carnal nature and that we have a flesh this side of the coming of Christ, we have a flesh that we must overcome every sin, but it will sit there and it is still capable of doing everything just like that if you let it. So me and my carnal nature has never been improved. That is spiritualist doctrine that we become enhanced and we become gods, we improve in our life, the carnal nature becomes holier. We need to understand that what we receive that develops into our character is actually the Lord Jesus Christ. It is already fully developed, it has to be manifested in you and me. We have to take it from Christ and we have to allow it to be manifested. That is process of sanctification to be set aside for a holy purpose. That holy purpose is for you to be a habitation of God, not a habitation of yourself an earthen vessel where a treasure can be put into it and that treasure you had no part in it. You have to display it and get rid of self.

How many sins does it take to be sinful? One and you are full. You have to empty yourself so God can fill with His work. We are created in Christ Jesus. Who was born first? You or Christ? Who existed first? You or Christ? You were created in Christ already before you were born. So we here we are, wow Lord you have already done it, tell me about yourself and He would have talked to Adam. We are created in Christ Jesus unto good works. We are His workmanship and we are saved by grace just like Noah was but he obeyed when God said, he did.

That wasn’t works, that was the grace of Jesus Christ working in him and by grace he entered in Christ and was saved. I hope that we all understood the message that the Sabbath day is so important. This is the part I wanted to labour on. That if we can keep the Sabbath right, we will be saved because Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, we enter into Him in the Sabbath.

Amen.
