When the Towers Fall – Isaiah 30:25

By Aria

Isaiah 30:25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers [and] streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the TOWERS fall.

The abomination of desolation – enshrouded in mystery for centuries. What is the meaning of this strange prophecy of scripture? Many are looking to the future for its appearance but a growing number of bible students believe it has already come. If that is true, then we are much closer to the end of the world and the coming of Christ than many have thought. We are going to hear the startling evidence that this is in fact true, the abomination of desolation has appeared.

Matthew 24:15 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

This striking prophecy of Jesus has two applications. One referring to the destruction of Jerusalem but one pointing to our own day. In these words Jesus gave his disciples the sign that they might know when it was time to get out of the city of Jerusalem and the Lord Jesus is giving us in these verses the sign that we might know when it’s time to get out of the cities in our own day and thus this prophecy of great importance us. It is critical that we understand what it means. We find important words about the destruction of Jerusalem in the book Great Controversy written by the servant of the Lord.

The Saviour’s prophecy concerning the visitation of judgments upon Jerusalem is to have another fulfillment, of which that terrible desolation was but a faint shadow. In the fate of the chosen city we may behold the doom of a world that has rejected God’s mercy and trampled upon His law.. {GC 36.2}

We find in Matthew 24 a prophecy in dual application. The first application to the destruction of Jerusalem. I can’t think of a better place to point you to understand the calamity that came upon that city except the book the Great Controversy because in the very opening chapter in the destruction of Jerusalem you will find a description that is remarkable.

Terrible were the calamities that fell upon Jerusalem when the siege was resumed by Titus. {GC 31.2}

She describes the problem that millions of Jews were assembled in the walls of Jerusalem as it was the time of the Passover. Because of warring faction sin the city food supplies had been completely depleted because of the jealous of men. They found themselves unprepared. If they had been prepared we are told they could have withstood that siege for years but because of selfishness and Greece, the inhabitants of Jerusalem were immediately catapulted into a terrible, horrible famine. She says that men would gnaw the leather of their belts and sandals hoping to scrape off some kind of nourishment.

Great numbers of the people would steal out at night to gather wild plants growing outside the city walls, though many were seized and put to death with cruel torture, and often those who returned in safety were robbed of what they had gleaned at so great peril. {GC 31.2}

Thousands perished from famine and pestilence. Natural affection seemed to have been destroyed. Husbands robbed their wives, and wives their husbands. Children would be seen snatching the food from the mouths of their aged parents. The question of the prophet, “Can a woman forget her sucking child?” received the answer within the walls of that doomed city: “The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.” Isaiah 49:15; “The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, . . . and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.” Deuteronomy 28:56, 57. {GC 32.1}

Many of those who were taken captive were crucified outside the cities walls in the Valley of Jehoshaphat and even at Calvary it is said that he crosses were so numerous that it was impossible to walk in between them. It became even the spectacle to even the Romans.

The blind obstinacy of the Jewish leaders, and the detestable crimes perpetrated within the besieged city, excited the horror and indignation of the Romans, {GC 33.1}

By the time finally Titus said we have to do something, they stormed the city, he lost control of his own soldiers because of their hatred of the Jews generated by simply what they had observed. You probably remember this story one evening after Titus had retired to his tent at night, the Jews got involved in a skirmish with the Romans and a soldier threw a fire brand through the opening in the porch and the building surrounding the temple was lit ablaze. Titus rushed to the scene trying to put the fire out. He didn’t want the temple destroyed. He had already pled with the Jews, if you would just meet me somewhere else for a battle, we will keep this thing away from the temple. Josephus himself plead with the people, please surrender. The people threw darts at Josephus and cursed him. Now the buildings surrounding the temple were ablaze and as Titus rushed in and plead with his own soldiers to put the blaze out, he was met with an entirely uncooperative spirit. Things got out of control. The Roman soldiers began to slaughter hundreds and hundreds of Jews that had run to the temple for shelter.

Blood flowed down the temple steps like water. Thousands upon thousands of Jews perished. Above the sound of battle, voices were heard shouting: “Ichabod!”–the glory is departed. {GC 33.1}

Titus and his soldiers went into the temple itself and as they stood looking with awe and wonder a soldier from behind shoved a firebrand through the crack in the door and suddenly the temple itself was on fire.

It was an appalling spectacle to the Roman–what was it to the Jew? The whole summit of the hill which commanded the city, blazed like a volcano. One after another the buildings fell in, with a tremendous crash, and were swallowed up in the fiery abyss. The roofs of cedar were like sheets of flame; the gilded pinnacles shone like spikes of red light; the gate towers sent up tall columns of flame and smoke. The neighboring hills were lighted up; and dark groups of people were seen watching in horrible anxiety the progress of the destruction: the walls and heights of the upper city were crowded with faces, some pale with the agony of despair, others scowling unavailing vengeance. The shouts of the Roman soldiery as they ran to and fro, and the howlings of the insurgents who were perishing in the flames, mingled with the roaring of the conflagration and the thundering sound of falling timbers. The echoes of the mountains replied or brought back the shrieks of the people on the heights; all along the walls resounded screams and wailings; men who were expiring with famine rallied their remaining strength to utter a cry of anguish and desolation. {GC 34.1}

In the siege and the slaughter that followed, more than a million of the people perished; {GC 35.2}

Not one Christian perished in the destruction of Jerusalem. {GC88 30.4}

Why?

Christ had given his disciples warning, and all who believed his words watched for the promised sign. {GC88 30.4}

Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

What was this abomination of desolation standing in the holy place? If we compare scripture with scripture we can find the answer. We find the parallel account of Jesus words, his words, his warning of the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place but now we find some additional information recorded Dr Luke.

Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

We read in Mathew when you see the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place now we are reading when Jerusalem was compassed by armies. How do we make that connection? It turns out that when the Romans would come to take the city, they would surround that city and plant around the walls standards which is an old term for a sign or a banner. These standards had depicted on them the images of their pagan gods and by planting them in the ground around the walls of the city of Jerusalem they were making their intentions known. They were setting their authority and letting the people inside the city know what they were going to do. That area surrounding the walls of the city was referred to as the holy place or the holy ground not to be confused with the holy place in the temple. Now you might say where do you get that from?

When the idolatrous standards of the Romans should be set up in the holy ground, which extended some furlongs outside the city walls, then the followers of Christ were to find safety in flight. {GC 25.4}

The Roman army knew exactly what they were doing, they knew about the holy ground. If you want some history of the holy ground read the book of Nehemiah and the Sabbath reforms. Nehemiah was quite a prophet. He was really a man’s man prophet. Remember those people he said he was going to pull their hair out if they didn’t comply with the plan. There were pagan merchants that were coming in and camping around the walls of Jerusalem as they couldn’t come in on the Sabbath hours and over the Sabbath hours these pagan merchants would camp around the walls of the city and Nehemiah told them to get out of there, vacate this area. He said if you don’t get out I will bodily remove you. Tough prophet. This area around the city wall came to be recognised as the holy place or the holy ground. The Romans knew exactly what they were doing. They knew to plant their standards, their signs in that area would excite the defiance of the Jews but they also of course hope that they would get the message. They were taking over, this was their show of authority. You might remember that was warning, the sign Jesus’ followers inside saw. His disciples recognised the signal but they couldn’t leave because the city was under siege until without any apparent reason to them the Roman armies retreated. The Jewish armies were so exalted they chased after them and nearly routed them which was a bad thing as that only emblazoned their defiance and arrogance when the Roman armies would come back later. With the Roman armies gone and the Jewish armies chasing them, the disciples of Jesus had an open passage to get out and they went to the mountains. That siege was under a general named Cestus. That was the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place in AD 66. Then in AD 70 the Roman armies came back under Titus and that is when the siege went forward to fruition. The destruction of the temple and the city followed that second siege. How many sieges were there around Jerusalem? Two sieges. When did Gods people have opportunity to escape? Between the two sieges but as seen in the book Great Controversy, this is a dual prophecy. This prophecy also points to our day. The good news packed in this prophecy is the key, the sign when to leave the cities today. We need to understand this message. I praise God this is not complicated. He has made it very simple.

Rome had two phases correct? What we just looked at reviewed was the assault of pagan Rome against Gods people right? The historians tell us pagan Rome handed the sceptre to papal Rome which is phase two of Rome, the Roman Catholic system and that brings us right down to our own day. We find in Revelation 13 a beast that comes out of the sea. The first beast of Revelation 13 has eleven points of identification.

  1. Beast comes out of the sea
  2. Composite structure – Revelation 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

What does this remind you of? The book of Daniel 7 where we find these creatures again. The lion, the bear, the leopard. We find that terrible beast. The Lord is trying to tell us something, the composite structure of this beast. It helps us to recognise the timing of the beast. A beast represents what? A nation, a kingdom when we would see it rise.

  1. This beast received its power from the dragon.
  2. Has a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies.
  3. Religious power
  4. Civil power – all the world wondered after the beast. The whole world worships the beast. Religious power, civil power.
  5. It’s a persecuting power and it makes war against the saints and we are told how long do we see this beast in power making war? A specific period of time. Revelation 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months.
  6. The 1260 years.
  7. The deadly wound
  8. The deadly wound is healed
  9. The number 666 Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.

Here we find points of identification for this power which represents the Roman Catholic church, the Roman system.

Revelation 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

As that beast was going into captivity, another beast was coming up. We see the point of identification for the United States which is represented by this second beast.

Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

Here we see these horns don’t have crowns. In Bible prophecy a horn is what? Power, strength but this is not kingly power, this is the power that this nation was founded on – civil and religious liberty. But it says she spake as a dragon.

Revelation 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

The Bible is very simple. Everything the Lord has, the devil has a counterfeit for it. Did you know the Lord has a mark for your forehead and your hand? The enemy has a mark too.

The Lords Mark

Deuteronomy 6:1 Now these [are] the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do [them] in the land whither ye go to possess it:

6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

There is Gods mark for the forehead between the eyes and the hand. Frontlets simply means like a band over the forehead. A sign on the hand and the forehaad, Gods law. We need to look more closely because one commandment identifies all ten as belonging to the only true God. That one commandment gives us his name, authority and jurisdiction. Which commandment is that? The fourth commandment. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. He is the creator, that gives him authority. The creator God. He is the Lord. He made heaven and earth.

Exodus 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that [ye] may know that I [am] the LORD that doth sanctify you.

31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, [for] a perpetual covenant.

It is a sign between the children of Israel. All this points to what the modern day application be of the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place. The sign of the Roman armies. The Lord makes sure it is so clear that no one will miss it and the beast will tell you what the sign and mark is spoken of in Revelation 13.

“Sunday is our mark of authority. The church is above the Bible and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.” 1 September 1923 Catholic Record.

The Lord is so good so no one can say it is too complicated I can’t work it out. Even the beast will tell you what the sign is. Notice I’m using the words sign and mark interchangeably because that is how those words can be used. We find something now remarkable.

The time is not far distant, when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains. {5T 464.3}

The servant of the Lord under the inspiration of God made an important connection for us. She said as the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians so the assumption of power on the part of our nation in the decree enforcing the papal Sabbath will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities. This is a little different. It will then be time to leave the large cities preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains. Do you see the step progression? It is a process. Sister White told us that when we should see the sign it would be time to leave the large cities. I first read this statement not in testimonies volume 5 in a little book called Country Living. Have you seen this book? The very last page of the book. I shut the little book and I said good, Sunday law hasn’t come yet it’s in the future but something bothered me because if you have read the book.

“Out of the cities; out of the cities!”–this is the message the Lord has been giving me. The earthquakes will come; the floods will come; and we are not to establish ourselves in the wicked cities,–Life Sketches, pp. 409, 410. (1906) {CL 31.4}

Why was it times when it seems that we must leave right now? Why were their other statements that made it seem more general. The time is coming, so I considered to ponder this. It is amazing how the Lord chooses to open our eyes. I remember distinctly I was driving in my car and I was pondering this problem and a thought came into my mind. What would happen if you took the book country living and laid out the statements in chronological order? Could you see a pattern emerge? It seemed to be a very good idea. I forgot about that thought until one day I was in the conference office and I was waiting to meet with someone who couldn’t meet with me and it was as if the Holy Spirit reminded me and said go to the Adventist book centre and grab the little book Country Living. I grabbed it off the shelf and I turned straight away to the back page and the date was there when that was written.

The time is not far distant, when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation, in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath, will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, — Testimonies, vol. 5, pp. 464, 465. (1885) {CL 32.1}

I looked down and the date was 1885. It started with the words – “the time is not far distant” 1885. I flipped back a few pages and my eyes fell on these words;

The time has come, Manuscript 50, 1903. {CL 24.2}

I saw the date, 1903. I got goose bumps. Between 1885 and 1903 something had to happen because the prophet, the servant of God went from saying the time is not far distant to the time has come.

The time has come, when, as God opens the way, families should move out of the cities. The children should be taken into the country. The parents should get as suitable a place as their means will allow.–Manuscript 50, 1903. {CL 24.2}

That was 1903. I kept looking and found 1900. What did she say the first step was we must take when we see the sign? Leave the large cities – 1900 – get out of the large cities as fast as possible. Is that not clear? That’s from Testimonies Volume 6 page 195, it’s also in Country Living. Then I found an amazing statement. 1897, the window was closing in. The Lord was trying to brighten up this dull mind. 1897 – listen to this. This is no accident, this is no coincidence. We are talking about inspired writings.

When the idolatrous standards of the Romans should be set up in the holy ground, which extended some furlongs. {GC88 26.1}

1897

The Protestant world have set up an idol sabbath in the place where God’s Sabbath should be, and they are treading in the footsteps of the Papacy. For this reason I see the necessity of the people of God moving out of the cities into retired country [places,].–Letter 90, 1897. {CL 21.1}

I was thinking what was it, where was it, where was the sign, where was the assumption of power on the part of our nation something involving a law, legislation, where was it? Something said I needed to look at 1888 again. We know about Minneapolis but something else happened in 1888, something significant. H W Blair of New Hampshire introduced a Sunday bill into the United states Congress enforcing Sunday and all federal territories as a day of worship. That happened in 1888. We got worried. We sent A T Jones back to lobby against the passing of that bill. He spoke to the members of congress and the law did not pass. You may say but wait a minute, it didn’t become law. Here is where we have to look at history. The prophet already told us that when the sign should come we should leave the large cities, the prophet said that. It is the prophet who in 1885 said the time is not far distant and in 1903 said the time is come. It is the prophet who said the time is not far distant in 1885. In 1900 she said get out of the large cities, that was step 1.

Was the prophet confused; absolutely not. How does this work? We have to remember the comparison. She herself made it in 5T 464, 465. What did she compare it to? The siege around Jerusalem. This is where history is so important. How many sieges around Jerusalem were there? Two. Did the first siege come to a desolating fruition? No. the intentions were made known. The standard was set up in the holy ground. Everything was ready and then they pulled back. Do you now follow? We are now standing a century plus, more than a century after the first siege around modern day Jerusalem. All these decades have passed and I was in false security thinking I don’t have to worry, the Sunday law I know it’s coming but friend that is the second siege. We were told in Great Controversy that Gods people were delivered, they were spared because they obeyed, not one Christian perished why? Because they obeyed the warning of Jesus. They left between the first and second siege. Somebody says that is a long time, that is because we serve a merciful God but time is running out. I hear the rumble the of the return of the Roman armies. Don’t you? You know about Dias Domini? This pope calling for Sunday legislation. Have you heard of the new unabridged catechism? I guess we can still call it new, it is almost ten years old. It goes back to 1995. Unabridged, complete in the English language but I tell you what is more significant, first of all it had the imprimatur of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. Do you know who that is? For decades the office of the inquisition in Rome was empty, vacant, he now is in that office. It is his seal that is authorising the unabridged catholic catechism. It is in that catechism you can read on the internet and if you go to the commandments and you go to the third commandment, they dropped the second. The third commandment is the so called Sabbath and there you will find a call for Sunday legislation in the catholic catechism authorised with the seal of the office of inquisition. Do you know this kept Sister White awake at night? This is what she said in 1900;

I could not sleep past two o’clock this morning. During the night season I was in council. I was pleading with some families to avail themselves of God’s appointed means, and get away from the cities to save their children. Some were loitering, making no determined efforts. The angels of mercy hurried Lot and his wife and daughters by taking hold of their hands. Had Lot hastened as the Lord desired him to, his wife would not have become a pillar of salt. Lot had too much of a lingering spirit. Let us not be like him. The same voice that warned Lot to leave Sodom bids us, “Come out from among them, and be ye separate, . . . and touch not the unclean.” Those who obey this warning will find a refuge. Let every man be wide awake for himself, and try to save his family. Let him gird himself for the work. God will reveal from point to point what to do next. {RH, December 11, 1900 par. 10}

More than a century ago. Somebody says what about the lost in the city? That’s the appeal we hear now. We got to live in the city to save the lost people in the city. Jesus comes to close to people, how could we abandon the lost in the city. Do you hear this?

Said the messenger of God, “Shall not the cities be warned? Yes; not by God’s people living in them, but by their visiting them, to warn them of what is coming upon the earth.” {1MR 253.2}

When iniquity abounds in a nation, there is always to be heard some voice giving warning and instruction, as the voice of Lot was heard in Sodom. All that Lot and his family did in Sodom could have been done by them, even if they had lived in a place some distance away from the city. Manuscript 94, 1903. {Ev 78.1}

As Did Enoch.–As God’s commandment-keeping people, we must leave the cities. As did Enoch, we must work in the cities but not dwell in them.–Manuscript 85, 1899. {Ev 77.5}

Didn’t Sister White say there would be people at the time of the death decree? Have you heard this? I’ve had people tell me this that means someone has got to live there. We have to read the rest of the story.

In the time of trouble we all fled from the cities and villages, but were pursued by the wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with a sword. {EW 34.1}

Where were the houses of the saints? They weren’t in the cities and they weren’t in the villages. Did you catch that? In the time of trouble we all fled from the cities and villages but were pursued by the wicked who entered the house of the saints, their homes were in the country. The enemies of Gods people chased them all the way to their homes. You say wow, that doesn’t sound very good. What is the point of being in the country; they are going to chase us into their homes anyway.

They raised the sword to kill us, but it broke, and fell as powerless as a straw. {EW 34.1}

Where do Gods people live? We have had a special warning.

Explosion after Explosion – New York 9/11

I called a friend of mine a few years ago. I hadn’t spoken to him for quite some time. He was an attorney. As we spoke he told me that he had been working for a firm that offices in New York city. Specifically they had offices in the World Trade Centre. This was a year after the infamous 9/11. I said, what, I had no idea? What happened? He said as providence would have it, I was called away from the towers in the morning. I watched it all unfold from the streets. I said, what was it like? He said, it was apocalyptic. Then he told me this amazing story, he had two friends working at the general conference office. When these events began to unfold they were watching it on television. They pulled out their laptop computers and they started searching the Ellen White database CD Rom and found a very strange quote;

In the night I was, I thought, in a room but not in my own house. I was in a city, where I knew not, and I heard explosion after explosion. I rose up quickly in bed, and saw from my window large balls of fire. Jetting out were sparks, in the form of arrows, and buildings were being consumed, and in a very few minutes the entire block of buildings was falling and the screeching and mournful groans came distinctly to my ears. I cried out, in my raised position, to learn what was happening: Where am I? And where are our family circle? Then I awoke. But I could not tell where I was for I was in another place than home. I said, Oh Lord, where am I and what shall I do? It was a voice that spoke, “Be not afraid. Nothing shall harm you.” {11MR 361.1}

I was instructed that destruction hath gone forth upon cities. The word of the Lord will be fulfilled. Isaiah 29:19-24 was repeated. I dared not move, not knowing where I was. I cried unto the Lord, What does it mean? These representations of destruction were repeated. Where am I? “In scenes I have represented that which will be; {11MR 361.2}

These words were given me from Isaiah 30: “Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits.” [Isaiah 30:8-15 quoted.] . . . . {11MR 362.1}

The Lord directed her to Isaiah chapter 30. When the prophet asks the Lord what does it mean, and the Lord gives the prophet a scripture, I want to know what the scripture says;

Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

 30:9 That this [is] a rebellious people, lying children, children [that] will not hear the law of the LORD:

 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

 30:11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

 30:12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

 30:13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

 30:14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water [withal] out of the pit.

 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

As I preach this message I find people telling me it is not time to get out, they don’t want to go. Some say they will go fast in their cars;

Isaiah 30:16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

What does God say?

30:17 One thousand [shall flee] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.

That’s not a good thing.

The Twin Towers

Isaiah 30:25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers [and] streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the TOWERS fall.

This is the scripture that God gave to the prophet when she said, “what does it mean?” when she saw buildings fall. How many times does it say they were repeated? She saw it twice. The Lord directed her to this chapter and yet I hear people say that the Lord didn’t prophesy the events of 9/11.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

We have had a special warning but perhaps you remember at the beginning of that statement we read these words;

In the night I was, I thought, in a room but not in my own house. I was in a city, where I knew not, and I heard explosion after explosion. I rose up quickly in bed, and saw from my window large. Ibid.

These two men who had found this statement were curious about what she meant, expression after expression. They had access to the vaults of the White Estate and so they went and they found the manuscripts and they discovered that this was a typo that the statement actually reads explosion after explosion. I asked my attorney friend a question that day, what do you think about Testimonies Volume 9? You know about it right the section that talks about New York city right?

On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify their owners and builders. Higher and still higher these buildings rose, and in them the most costly material was used. Those to whom these buildings belonged were not asking themselves: “How can we best glorify God?” The Lord was not in their thoughts. {9T 12.1}

I thought: “Oh, that those who are thus investing their means could see their course as God sees it! They are piling up magnificent buildings, but how foolish in the sight of the Ruler of the universe is their planning and devising. They are not studying with all the powers of heart and mind how they may glorify God. They have lost sight of this, the first duty of man.” {9T 12.2}

As these lofty buildings went up, the owners rejoiced with ambitious pride that they had money to use in gratifying self and provoking the envy of their neighbors. Much of the money that they thus invested had been obtained through exaction, through grinding down the poor. They forgot that in heaven an account of every business transaction is kept; every unjust deal, every fraudulent act, is there recorded. The time is coming when in their fraud and insolence men will reach a point that the Lord will not permit them to pass, and they will learn that there is a limit to the forbearance of Jehovah. {9T 12.3}

The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fire-proof buildings and said: “They are perfectly safe.” But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines. {9T 13.1}

I was interested as I had friends in the ministry and some said it was a fulfilment and some said that’s not a fulfilment, we’re being spectacularist, we’re taking the words of the prophet just for a sensation. I asked my attorney friend, so what do you think about Testimonies to the Church Volume 9? these were his exact words, he said Dave, it is more than that, its Testimonies volume 9 starting on page 11. The Lord is so good. Time is running out. Whose words did we read in Matthew 24:15 and 16? These words are the words of Jesus. Jesus is calling come out, come out and be ye separate. Jesus is calling to leave the cities.

Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Country Living

God will help His people to find such homes outside of the cities.–MS. 133, 1902. {MM 310.4}

Who will be warned? We say again, Out of the cities. Do not consider it a great deprivation, that you must go into the hills and mountains, but seek for that retirement where you can be alone with God, to learn His will and way. . . . {CL 14.4}

I urge our people to make it their lifework to seek for spirituality. Christ is at the door. This is why I say to our people, Do not consider it a privation when you are called to leave the cities and move out into the country places. –Manuscript 85, 1908. {CL 14.5}

Here there await rich blessings for those who will grasp them. By beholding the scenes of nature, the works of the Creator, by studying God’s handiwork, imperceptibly you will be changed into the same image.–Manuscript 85, 1908. {CL 14.5}

Amen.
