05 The Fight of Faith
Living Faith Seminar, Study 5, Audio: The Fight of Faith
We cannot be justified by faith until we have received the seed into our hearts. Even though the seed has not grown yet into a tall plant to bring forth fruit, everything is there. As we receive the Word of God in its entirety whether we know everything or not, by that surrender and the willingness to follow the Lamb wherever He goes we are justified.
Hebrews 10:3 Now the just shall live by faith.
If we want to remain just we must live practically by the genetic code that has been placed into our hearts by Jesus Christ. If you have been ploughed, if you realize what sin is, that your nature is desperately wicked and you come to the point where you have received God’s Word in its entirety then the walk has just begun. When the seed has been planted it is just the beginning of our experience. When man has the divine nature and the law of God is written in the soul, our flesh, that is our deranged physical frame, it still has the same matter as beforehand. The endocrine system and the hormones are still unbalanced. Your feelings will still be aroused the same as before rebirth. When someone is born again does he have a new body? No, but you have a new ingredient now that will conquer those things of the flesh.
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection.
That is the fight of faith. When someone is born again it is often termed the time that you are saved, when were you saved? People talk about the day they were saved. While ever salvation has come on that day he that endureth to the end shall be saved (Matthew 10:22). Salvation is there but it must come to a harvest. When that harvest is come there is obedience. Jesus said to the rich young ruler if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments (Matthew 19:17). To keep the commandments, not the letter only but the spirit of it, is the only way you will live. The only way to keep the commandments is by faith. Not by imagination or by imagining that another person has done it for me and I never have to do it myself.
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
In this fight of faith we need endurance and patience. We are in a position where we can still fall. There is another saying -Once saved – always saved. The Scriptures do not teach that. The Scriptures teach if you keep the faith you will be saved and it also says you can fall from grace. Do you think you can kill the plant? Essentially we have two plants growing now. Before conversion we had only one plant one that brings forth thorns and thistles. An evil plant cannot bring forth good fruit. Now we have the faith of Jesus planted in us, another plant must grow. That gives us now a position of true freedom. A person that is in sin is not in freedom.
John 8:34 Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
If you are bound to sin all your life you are not free. Who then has saved you? Many people say they will sin until they die. Does their God have no power to save them from sin? We are still in a battling position. As we are being born again we have freedom even to go back into bondage back into jail. You can go back and sin if you want or you can live unto righteousness – right doing. Being in the faith is true liberty. When God created man he was in liberty. The animal world doesn’t have the liberty that human beings have. They can only follow their instincts. A growing plant can only grow according to the code with in it but to man has been given a choice. God gave that to our first parents. In the midst of the garden were two trees to choose from. The tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. To Adam and Eve was given a choice from which to take even though they were carefully instructed about the consequences of each choice. Likewise when Jesus Christ redeems us we are restored to the position of choice. We have the choice whether we want to go back to the knowledge of sin and partake in our carnal nature. It is still there or we can partake of the new nature, the new creature that Christ has installed. These two elements are opposed to each other and they are inside us. We deal not only with two trees but also with two seeds.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The two seeds are Christ and His followers and Satan and his followers. There is enmity between the two. It is a war. Therefore we need to fight the fight of faith and overcome by the blood of the Lamb. We have all experienced this battle. When Jesus was baptized He went into the wilderness where he met the fierce temptations of Satan. Do you think when you are born again you have no more temptations? No way! As soon as Jesus Christ He was born in Bethlehem we read in Revelation 12 that the dragon was there to devour the man-child. Do you think when you are born again there will be no devil trying to eat you up?
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith.
We must resist by faith not by imagination. In our mind we have the freedom to go one way or another. Before we were converted we had no choice.
The mind is so constituted that it must be occupied with either good or evil. If it takes a low level, it is generally because it is left to deal with commonplace subjects. OHC 111
What happens when you leave your garden and do nothing to it? The weeds flourish. Jesus says: No man can serve two masters. When people think they can be Christians and still engage in worldly pleasures they are actually not Christians at all. You cannot serve the flesh, the world and God and when you suppose you are doing it, you are not. You are serving the devil fully. We realize we have to fight against the world, the flesh and the devil. These are our adversaries. When we talk about the world we are not talking about people, we talk about customs that people have. We talk about the fashions of the world. When people want to hang onto the fashions of the world then they have to go too. But if any person desires to come out of the world, then God’s people can help them.
Revelation 18:4 Come out of her my people,
How can you say ‘Come out’ if you are not out? You can’t for if you were in it you would have to say ‘Go out’. We need to be very clear how we use the faith. We are not so much describing the battle, but how faith is exercised.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It is the genetic code of Jesus Christ that He gave at the cross. When we are justified those things that are written in the seed are also written in heaven. When the first cells of an unborn child are formed there is written in it the whole maturity of that child before it is developed. It is written as a reality in heaven. That is not faking it, it is not making things up, and it is real. In the seed there is everything needed to bring it to maturity. It is written in heaven and when our name is written in heaven then those things belong to you. The just shall live by those things. They live by the information written to grow. If you don’t live by that information you are not growing, living or justified.
Ephesians 2:5-10 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
This means when you are born again your information unto perfection is stored in heaven next to Christ. Your name is there, that’s you but you are still on earth.
Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
By grace – by the Holy Spirit this seed comes. How did the seed get into Mary? The Holy Ghost placed it in there and so it is by grace we’re saved through that seed of Jesus Christ that has the code of faith in it.
Ephesians 2:8 and that not of yourselves.
You didn’t write it. You didn’t do anything for it. It is the gift of God. We have not deserved it. Out of pure love He is bestowing it upon you.
Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
When God created the world He created the trees with seeds in it. That was His work and we are His workmanship. Before we have been ordained to walk in a certain behavior pattern to bring forth certain produce, that’s the ordination of our God. That is good and no one is good but our God therefore the works we must do are the works of God. There came people to Jesus, saying How can we work the works of God? Jesus answered them believe on the name of the Son of God (John 6:28-29). Believe simply means to receive the name of God. What is the name? The Word. To receive every Word that comes from His mouth. As you receive it into your heart and keep it there, you will work the works of God if you keep it firm unto the end. Let us enlarge what God has before ordained. When God preordains something it will come to pass. The good things that we have done have been preordained before the world began.
Romans 8:29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.
There is a difference between foreknowledge and predestination. Foreknowledge knows what people are going to do. Predestination is a destiny that has been preset. God put man in a position of choice. Being in a position of choice he is not yet predestined because he hasn’t made his choice. God has foreknowledge of the choice. But does the foreknowledge of the choice take the choice away? No it doesn’t. He has given us a choice and He knows what we are going to choose. But God’s knowledge doesn’t remove the choice from us. For example; if I hold something different in each of my hands and I say Markus you choose knowing already which hand he will choose, have I taken away his choice? We are absolutely free to choose whatever we like so we shouldn’t feel locked in and depressed, thinking I can’t do anything now. Are seeds predestined? They are predestined.
As a youth I planted two watermelon seeds. I waited and looked every day to see if they would come up. Then after seven days they both came up at once. Each had two little green leaves. I wondered, how do they know to do the same thing? Then at my apprenticeship workshop I asked my boss: ‘How do these seed know what to do?’ He responded: ‘That is just the DNA.’ It shut me down a little as I didn’t know what DNA was. Praise the Lord; the seed is predestined to do a certain thing. We have two choices. We can go on one path of destiny or we can choose the other path. He knew which choice you are going to make. He doesn’t take away your choice yet when your make the right choice you receive a preset code to grow or be conformed into the image of Jesus Christ. Of all the things you are destined to do, imagine to be destined to be like Jesus. Wow, Praise the Lord. I want to be like Jesus and it just happened to be that this is the goal of my life. This idea of predestination does not oppress me as it does so many people. It is exactly what I want and it is predestined to happen. Praise the Lord. I don’t want to be in the image of Satan. The reason why it is preset is that it is written in heaven. The things that are written in heaven must be done on earth and they will be done on earth.
The Christian Path
Let’s look at the Christian path. We choose the path of what will we do.
Ephesians 4:11 And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (the building blocks of Christ) 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith…
This is true unity. If we all have the same seed we will all do the same things. Like tin soldiers? No. When you look at a forest of pine trees, is it beautiful? They look all the same and yet every single tree is different. To come into unity we must have faith. We can’t force ourselves to press together. Not by church creed or force but only by faith. Faith has a certain path and we will follow that path if we have faith. The idea to force people together into unity will turn out to be a winepress. This world will be forced into the winepress of God’s wrath as described in Revelation 14:19.20. I don’t fancy being in that. I want spontaneous unity not forced unity.
Ephesians 4:13 and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Christ was perfect because He overcame sin in every department of life. He was victorious. So when we are predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son we grow into perfection.
Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow [that is the principle of a seed] up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
This faith brings in a better hope; it brings in a real desire to be like Jesus because all these things are written in heaven. Is the law of God in heaven? Is the Word in heaven? Yes.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
The Word, the Scriptures are in heaven. Those things which are written in the code we have in our hearts that must be brought out, which is the produce – the good works, which we talked about before. What is actually inside the Word?
Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? [Why was the law there?] It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come [the law was there until the seed should be planted] to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
What is a promise? It is a declaration of what will be done. A promise and prophecy is the same thing. The prophecies of Daniel and Revelation are promises that will be done. By the Apostles and prophets we have the things that will be done because God spoke to them concerning the things that will be done out of heaven. All the promises of God are in the seed.
2.Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
‘Yea’ is all the things that will be done in him and Amen means let it be done. There are things in God’s Word in the Seed that will be done if you let it be done. If I plant this seed and put plastic over it will it be done? No, because it is not the Amen. The Amen is let it be done. So many people put the gift of God in a napkin and bury it but it will not grow. People take the promises of God out of Him thinking we can do them and they rot. For example, the Middle East situation proves this point because the promise given to Abraham was actually given to his seed [singular] not seeds plural but seed that is Christ. Christ was promised to the Middle East and to the whole world. Those promises outside of Christ are not yea and amen. The Israelites took the promises out of Christ because they did not believe in Christ and then sought to fulfill the promise themselves and is it done today? No it is not. They are still fighting and they will keep fighting and Christians are joining in for they also don’t believe that the promises are in Christ. They believe the Jews as a nation will be saved. My friend there is only one way to be saved and that is through Jesus Christ. One way and that is by faith. We read in Hebrews 11 about Abel and how he did what he did by faith. By faith Noah also did what he did and also Enoch, Moses and Daniel. By faith they subdued kingdoms wrought righteousness and do we think we can do righteousness in any other way? No. Faith has all the promises in Him. Does a seed give promise of a harvest? Yes. But a seed is only a promise of a harvest if that seed is allowed to do what it is supposed to do. If I gave someone a corn seed that is a promise of a harvest and he says ‘great’ but then puts the seed in the fridge he will be disappointed in three months as there will be no harvest. So it is in the Christian world, they have taken the promises out of Jesus as they do not want to overcome sin nor believe that they can overcome sin but they take the promises that they will still be saved at the end and when the three months are up when the harvest is ended and they will realize they are not saved.
Jeremiah 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
What happened? They didn’t let the promise come forth but rather they partook of another promise which was the wages of sin is death.
1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth His Word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him.
Some people look upon the law of love as an alternative to the law of the Ten Commandments. Love is the fulfillment of the law. Love is the plant that comes forth and produces all the behavior that is written in the Decalogue. When you read 1 Corinthians 13 it tells you exactly what is inside love. Everything that is inside love is contained in the Decalogue.
The word keep is very important it means to maintain, to put in a position of working. If you keep your car in good working order you have kept it in a condition so it can do what it is meant to do. The word keep is so essential for it differs from the word works. Some people think they have to create righteousness for themselves out of nothing. God gave His righteousness to us and we have to keep it. If we keep or maintain His Word in us it will bring forth perfect love. Some people actually believe you don’t have to do anything once you believe in Jesus and that there is no more action required for they use the word works as if it means effort but the word works doesn’t mean effort it means produce and so there they falter. There is effort to be made. Look what happens if no effort is made.
Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the world to come, (This is a person that has been born again, a person that has been justified. They have partaken of the good Word, which is the seed. They have the gift, the heavenly seed.) 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame.
If God gives you that seed and you kill it, you cannot be saved. If you have killed that seed what are you going to plant? They kill Him afresh. We killed Him the first time and He gave us the precious seed. Then we kill him again? Sorry. If you kill Him again you have no food to eat. If a farmer destroyed all his grain, what would he plant? It’s science my friends. This unpardonable sin is not a mystical thing when some wrong word slips out of your mouth causing you to be condemned forever. There are people on the Internet running a ‘blasphemy challenge’ they dare people to say it and once they have said it they get told now you are lost forever. They have no idea of the science of faith. But if you destroy or crucify the seed again then it is impossible just as much as it was impossible for you to obey in the first place before you received the seed.
Hebrews 6:7 For the earth, which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
The apostle talks about the unpardonable sin of killing the seed and then he connects it to how plants grow. If you let it grow you will get a blessing.
Hebrews 6:8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
If you destroy the seed what will come up? Weeds. And weeds will be burned. Jesus says:
Matthew 15:13 Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
If He didn’t write the code for it, it will be pulled out. In the new earth there will be no genetic modification. It will be as He had it and how He will have it? Many genes have been manipulated over the years. Every gene that God didn’t write will be destroyed. Praise the Lord. Then things can be perfect again.
Hebrews 6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
It is saying I want you to show diligence which is effort. Isn’t it an effort to grow a garden? Yes. Which is harder, growing a garden when you have the seed or creating the seed itself? That is impossible. People say salvation is not hard for Jesus said:
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.
Therefore they say salvation must be easy. My question is: what is easier? An impossibility or something that is hard? Hard is easier than that which is impossible. To be righteous is impossible while ever we don’t have that seed. But now we have that seed it’s just hard therefore it’s easy. It takes diligent effort to grow that seed. You don’t have to create the seed as God has already done that. You have to keep it and maintain the garden. Wasn’t that Adam’s task after God created the world? Adam didn’t create the world, he was only asked to keep the garden. Did he keep it? No. Some people think once saved always saved. If that would be truth then Adam would not have fallen and neither would Lucifer. If they were saved they would have remained saved. Our God is a God of choice. He gives us now a position of choice to prove our loyalty to him.
Hebrews 6:11 show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
What does the word assurance mean? If we are diligent you will stay on that predestined path that has been kept and you can be assured of it. It is not only a declaration of what will happen but a guarantee that things will happen. It must come to its harvest unto the end.
Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
We need faith and patience. We need to be patient for things to grow. For it is a preordained process and it has time lots and because it has time lots, we must wait for the certain times.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
Things that will be done and by the things that will be done we will become partakers of the divine nature.
2 Peter 1:4 that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, (here is the effort) add to your faith (which is the divine nature) virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity
The perfection of love. These characteristics have to be added, brought out. These are the steps of growth, time lots.
2 Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you really have faith you will have produce. A man can say: I have faith. Let him show his faith by what he produces. What is produced makes faith perfect is what James is talking about.
2 Peter 1:9. But he that lacketh these things is blind
Which things? The things that grow. If you have the seed and have no growth you lack them.
2 Peter 1:10 and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
These Bible texts hold enormous information. If I would prophecy to you and say: After conception there shall be nine months and a baby will be born. Can I see? Then if I say after such and such a time the child shall get teeth. Some might think, wow he knows the future. It is not hard to know the future if you have faith. Yet people have these mystic balls and pay money to know the future but God intends for us to know what shall come upon us for He says;
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
An expected end is what faith is going to show us and if you don’t know what faith is, then you are blind and you cannot see afar off and so you say we can’t overcome and we will sin till Jesus comes. If you think that then you’re blind and Jesus says of blind guides that if anyone follows them both will fall into the ditch because they don’t know what is in faith.
2 Peter 1:11 ..and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Are they justified anymore? No. They have killed the seed. They didn’t know what to do with it.
2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Do you want to go to heaven? What a text! It is so clear what the apostle Peter is saying. The whole chapter is so brilliant. Not to argue but to know what we must do.
2 Peter 1: 11 An entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly…
The angels of God will open the door wide and say, please come in. It’s not like you slipped in the door before it was almost shut on you. If we have faith those doors of heaven will be opened to us and we shall be in the everlasting kingdom. If anyone thinks that they can sin all the way into heaven they will be disappointed.
2. Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Having therefore these preordained things we are set to do, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness. We want to know how faith is exercised and how it is perfected. To every promise of God there are conditions. Does growing a seed have conditions? Absolutely. You must have a soft heart, you must have water, you must have the Holy Ghost and you must have sunshine. The genetics have conditions and so it is with every promise of God, it is subject to conditions. If we don’t fulfill these conditions should we expect to receive the things that were promised? It is so simple, if we don’t do such things it shall not happen.
If we are willing to do His will all His strength shall be ours. Whatever the gift He promises is in the promise itself. The seed is in the Word of God. As surely as the oak is in the acorn, so surely is the gift of God in His promise. If we receive the promise, we have the gift. Education 253.4
Abraham received promises. Did he recognize the fulfillment of such promises? Not having received the fulfillment of the promise he still had the promise.
Faith that enables us to receive God’s gifts is itself a gift, of which some measure is imparted to every human being. It grows as exercised in appropriating the Word of God. In order to strengthen faith, we must often bring it in contact with the Word.
Can you grow in faith if you don’t study your Bible? No. Faith which is the seed is also the Word of God received in the heart. The Word of God is written in heaven. The code is written in three places. Firstly the code is written when we open our lives to the sound of the gospel even when we do not know all the facts and figures of what is happening we just open ourselves and those sounds are cherished in our brain. The seed of faith has the same ingredient as the Word of God which has the same ingredient that is contained in the book of heaven. Praise the Lord for how many of you know your own genetics? God has done that for us. You can read what shall be done in your life as they are already ordained in heaven and God spoke it to His prophets. Prophets tell what things shall be in the promises. The Word was written in heaven and preordained and given into our hands so we can know the things that are freely given to us. Therefore faith cannot do anything contrary to the Word of God because it is the same material that has come into me, the Word of God. We do not have faith if we contradict the Holy Scriptures and principles in life practice as we are then deceived.
2 Timothy 2:6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Please read the whole chapter it is so brilliant. The husbandman grows grapes. But before he grows grapes he must eat grapes. This is really saying, before you go to work you must eat breakfast. But how can he eat the grapes if they haven’t grown yet? He must eat the precious harvest. In doing so he gains the strength to do the things for the next harvest. Now the fruit of the first harvest is identical to the fruit of the next harvest. In regards to our life, the faith of Jesus Christ the seed from which we want to receive fruit has already been planted. Therefore we have the fruit of the next labor. The Word of God is the seed that came from the last harvest. The Old and the New Testament were completed after the life of Christ and the work of the apostles were finished. The Old and the New Testament is the full product of what we are trying to achieve. Therefore if we labor to maintain our garden we must first go back to that which was done to feed upon it to gain strength to do it again. It is made very clear how to strengthen our faith. Like prophecy it is already written. There are certain things that we must eat at certain times in order to do certain things. In other words, meat in due season. When a baby is born does he start chewing on bread? He is not ready for it so he needs milk until he is ready for solid food.
Matthew 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
A faithful servant is full of faith giving meat in due season. Some people read the Bible just as a mere book of interest that is not meat in due season. Meat, is that which you actually need? Some read the Bible through starting in Genesis and finishing with Revelation. Is this what you need? No. God has certain portions of information from His Word that needs to come into our brain that will feed us according to God’s plan.
Faith enables us to receive God’s gift which is in some measure imparted to every human being. To let faith grow we need to be brought often in contact with the Word of God. Look at Jesus life how the first crop was achieved. Jesus was talking to His brothers:
John 7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. 7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. 8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come.
There are certain passages in the Scriptures which God hasn’t given us to understand yet and we open the Scriptures and say, ‘I can’t understand that forget it!’ Because you can’t understand it does that mean that there is nothing for you to understand? There is something for you to understand and you want to understand it for your time to do a certain thing has come. Jesus says, ‘First the blade, then the ear and then the full corn in the ear.’ There is a certain time when the fertilizer needs to be applied. There is a certain time when things must be done and that is part of the preordination. When we are at a certain experience we must get the food that we need for that experience. But if we don’t know what that experience is, how can we get the food that is needed? We become blind because we don’t study our Bibles.
Mark 4:26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
God has set a time for everything. Every child that has been conceived is in the womb for about nine months. God has preset a certain thing to take place at a certain time. Do you know what must take place in you right now? Or do you say I don’t know what is going on I have no idea what God requires for me. If you have no idea what you must do at this time then you do not have the certain food that you need for your faith.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
Jesus was talking to these people who said, what has just happened? They were really disappointed. Do you get easy disappointed? Do you wonder what is going on? Jesus saying to them these are the things that are happening as so that:
Luke 24:44 that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Jesus Christ knew from the Scriptures the things that He must fulfill. He studied His Bible.
Matthew 26:51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. 52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
If you were in a situation where you would get mobbed and you did not know that it was prewritten that such a thing should happen to you and you say I don’t want to be mobbed and you start to hit back, has the seed been allowed to germinate? No. It was written that Christ must not have twelve legions of angels to help him, He must suffer the reproach of men. How did Christ know that? He had studied the Scriptures.
Matthew 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
Earlier Jesus had said my time has not yet come. There were some things that He must fulfill but time wasn’t quite ready yet. When you know that something has to happen do you get impatient for it to happen? This is where patience comes into the process. If the Bible has promised that such and such a thing will happen we must wait for the time for such to happen. Some people say we have to overcome sin and they try for about two weeks and then they realize that they can’t do it and give up saying it is impossible. I can testify to you that I had struggles over certain things when I read that certain things must not be. I was struggling under them and month after month went by and I thought maybe I should give up for it doesn’t appear to happen and maybe people are right who say we can’t keep God’s Word. Maybe we can’t perfect a Christian character after all and maybe I should give up. Is that patience? No. I must keep the Word in my heart and say Lord this must be done. Just because you still have problems it doesn’t mean God has cast you away. Have you killed the seed? No but the fruit has not yet come.
2 Corinthians 10:6 When your obedience is fulfilled, be ready to revenge all disobedience.
There is a time when your obedience hasn’t quite come yet. There are certain things in your life that you have not overcome, yet does that mean you shall never overcome? It is written it shall be done in its appointed time and if you don’t know the time in which it shall be done you will be disappointed.
Matthew 26:55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. 56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
Why must the Scriptures be fulfilled? What is written there is part of the seed and it must come to light. That is written in heaven. When heaven ordains something it shall be.
Jeremiah 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.
My people have no idea what is coming upon them.
Jeremiah 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
There are a lot of theologians around and it is all in vain for when God has appointed a certain thing to take place at a certain time namely the shaking of God’s church and then when people start leaving the church others say, what’s happening? We should all press together, we shouldn’t splinter off. You know what happens in a shaking? Things splinter off. But still people scratch their heads saying we shouldn’t be doing this or why is this happening? They say these things because they do not know the Scriptures. If we knew what had to happen at an appointed time we would be obedient to do it. In regard to Jerusalem it was foretold that king Nebuchadnezzar would take it. Did they believe it? They said no we can’t submit to that and tried to stop it. They pointed to all the promises that Jerusalem would be the capital of the world. So they thought they must fight for it. Was the time appointed yet? Not yet. They misapplied the prophecies. So it is that Christians not only misapply their Christian experience in overcoming sin at each appointed time, but they also misapply the prophecies of what shall be done on this planet.
Jeremiah 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
They said we have the law and the writings but they rejected the Word of the Lord that special instruction by the Prophet. They reject Faith.
Jeremiah 8:10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
When people struggle over their sins many ministers say don’t worry just be happy. Peace, peace when there is no peace. The law of the Lord is plowing the field of a certain soul and they come and say look, the law has been done away with you don’t have to go too far. They stop the work of the law and harden the heart again so you can be happy in your sin because they do not know what is preordained in the plan of salvation. Obedience comes when we know what it means to strengthen our faith.
Jeremiah 8:12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Today there is no blushing at immodesty. That is the fulfillment of Jeremiah chapter 8.
Romans 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, (it is written therefore it is going to happen praise the Lord.) The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick but when you know something will take a certain time is it deferred? No, it becomes a tree of life. Praise the Lord. We should study our Bibles not to prove arguments, not to justify ourselves and not to see if we can do the wrong thing and get away with it. Some people study the Bible trying to find a loophole in God’s law to slip around and justify themselves. We study our Bible so we can learn the things that were written aforetime. The seed had already been written and it had been written before the foundation of the world. Those things were written for our learning that we might have comfort. Does it comfort you when you go through a real hard patch and then you open a promise from God and it tells you exactly what are you going through? O Praise the Lord I am going through something I am meant to be going through. This is what it means to strengthen your faith. We are to study God’s Word.
Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
Jesus Christ was always considering what was written and at the appointed time He would confirm it.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…
Jesus would die for the sins of the people. He read it and He knew when His hour had come. He died at the appointed time. He knew the set time. God has exactly foretold us the path in which we are to follow and it is for our comfort, our hope and our patience that we understand the appointed time of our experience.
Romans 15:9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. 10 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. 11 And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
The apostle Paul was a minister to the Gentiles. Here he writes about his experience among the Gentiles. It is written praise the Lord for I am appointed to the Gentiles fulfilling the things that are written.
Romans 15:12 And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
The Jewish nation did not believe the Gentiles would have salvation. Apostle Paul studied the Bible and saw that there was an appointment for the Gentiles at a certain time and so he went and did it. Yet the rest of the Church ignored such prophecies. This is exactly the same problem we have today. That is why people have weak faith. At the appointed time we must exercise the thing God has spoken. When God speaks the Spirit moves. God the Father has all the thoughts and He expresses what he wants to create. The Word (Christ) puts the code into place and then the Holy Spirit takes of Jesus and makes it manifested. See the work of the Godhead. Therefore if something is written, who is it that must do it? The Holy Ghost will take of Jesus and make it manifest to us. When I read about something that should happen at a certain time and undertake to do it whose power am I doing it through? I’m doing it through the power of the Holy Ghost. Daniel concluded by reading the writings of the prophet Jeremiah that Jerusalem was appointed 70 years of desolation. He knew the year it had started and when Jerusalem would be rebuilt again. When the 70 years were about to be fulfilled he prayed to God. Why did He pray to God? Didn’t God say it was to happen anyway? He read it and then he prayed. In deepest humiliation he confessed his and his people’s sin and pleaded for deliverance, ‘according to Thy Word, according to Thy mercy he prayed.’
If he had prayed this after only 40 years would it have availed anything? It would have availed nothing for it was not written to happen at that time. It wasn’t part of the seed and you can pray all you like, if it is not in the code it shall not come to pass. We should pray according to His will. If we ask anything in His Name which is the Word of God, it shall be given to you guaranteed. Yet people ask for things like a new car and it doesn’t happen because it wasn’t written in there that’s why. Then people say prayer doesn’t work and God doesn’t exist. They have not shown themselves approved and they have not strengthened their faith and become weak.
Consider Elijah. It was written that heavens should be shut for three and a half years that it should not rain. At the conclusion of the three and a half years Elijah went on top of Mount Carmel and he put his head between his knees and he prayed and prayed and prayed. Nothing happened. It was written but nothing happened. So he prayed again. Nothing happened again but it was written. Did Elijah have patience? Patience will make you pray again and again until he had prayed seven times. Then he sent his servant to look. He came back saying I see a little cloud arising out of the sea and Elijah said there is an abundance of rain coming. It was written. If Elijah had prayed for such a thing two years earlier would his prayer have been answered? No. What if he had prayed 50 times? Would it have been done? No. Some people look at Elijah as being a magician. He prayed and fire came from heaven and then the rain came. He wasn’t a rainmaker, he believed in the Word of the Lord. The Lord is the rainmaker. The Word of the Lord sends the fire. Elijah aligned himself with the Scriptures and prayed most earnestly with energy that the thing would take place.
It is written that sin would not have dominion over us. If we acknowledge the sin in our life should it dominate me? No. What shall I do? Pray saying ‘Lord take it from me’ then if it doesn’t happen do we then say we can’t be perfect. You know generally speaking the ministers of the gospel have no faith although there are still a few true ministers, but the majority do not exercise faith. They only have imagination. It is generally taught you can neglect Bible study and still be saved. You can’t! The Word of God is the weapon of our warfare, the sword of the Spirit. What is written? When it is written that such a thing should happen and I pray that such a thing should happen then go and do that thing the power of the Holy Ghost will come and give me victory. It’s not my works.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace (the Holy Spirit) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We need to understand thoroughly the last day prophecies. We need to rightly divide the Word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
So many people argue over words instead of focusing on the principle of the matter. What does the word ‘tendency’ mean? There is a principle in God’s Word and when people start debating over words as the Pharisees did questioning is it lawful to do this or can we slip around and do that and they make all these little bylaws it subverts the hearers. It makes them turn away from the Word of faith to the traditions of man. The Scripture says our faith should not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We must make sure we are approved of God and not of men. We are to make sure where we are going. God’s Word is a light unto our feet. The Word of God depicts what shall be done at various times and I need to understand what my duty is. Then I can say I have studied this personally and I have found things that are applicable to me. I see myself written there, not my name but things that must be done. I am to identify the time that I live in and what must be done and do it. When I go to do it God’s Holy Spirit will be there with me. If I don’t and I try to do something else will God’s Spirit be with me? No. This is what it means to exercise faith. But we need to have patience as for some things the time has not fully come. There is earnest work to be done for the master. The evils condemned in God’s Word must be overcome. You must individually battle against the world, the flesh and the devil. The Word of God is called the sword of the Spirit. And you should become skillful in its use if you would cut away through the host of opposition and darkness. You must be skillful in God’s Word and you need to study it to know what must be done at the appointed time.
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
We should be afraid that we miss out on anything that was written for us to do or miss out on applying the promises. Pray earnestly Lord, please show me from thy Word what I meant to be doing and what I must overcome. Then you can add to your knowledge temperance. It is time of God’s people to enter into the fast of the Day of Atonement because it is written that such a thing should happen. People say you shouldn’t make vegetarianism a test of fellowship. Will there come a point of time when it is no longer safe to eat meat or other unhealthful things? Can we identify the time we must change our diet? We can look back and say well they ate meat in times past. They ate meat in the Old and even in the New Testament and they did. Has the time come where meat is now unsafe to consume? When you read the Bible and also the pen of inspiration by Ellen G. White you will see that such a time will come. When we have our eyes open and we see the time is now, we will comply. But blind leaders say you can still eat meat you shouldn’t make it a test of fellowship and excuse such things because in past times it was allowed. That is just an example of not studying to show your self-approved unto God. Let us fear lest we forget a promise and come short of something that is predestined to happen. When the disciples asked Jesus why they couldn’t heal the sick boy Jesus answered ‘Because of your unbelief’. Many people think they can’t overcome their sins and they can’t because they don’t believe.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
At the appointed time.
Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
We need to study with fasting and prayer. Not to make a show to people that we’re fasting. To fast doesn’t always mean to have no food at all but to put away all unhealthy food, to eat less or even a fresh food fast. If I want to understand what is it that I need to overcome now the Lord will show you and when He does we must do it. God’s Word has preordained that it will be done. This is what it means to fight the good fight of faith. It’s all about God’s Word. I pray that we can keep God’s Word in our hearts as the Psalmist says:
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee
