The Name of God

Audio: mp3

There is a great blessing bestowed upon those who read and understand the book of Revelation. If we do this as it is in its purity we will be richly blessed but if we take something from this book, our names will be taken from the book of life. If we add to it, God will add to us the seven last plagues. In other words the book contains a huge blessing for those who read it as God intended and there is a huge curse upon those who disregard and change it. That should make us tremble. The Bible has a huge amount of power that we don’t want to disregard or read superficially. One major theme in the book of Revelation is the revelation of God’s people. As we look at the future written in this book, we can identify political financial and religious events so that we can identify where we are in relation to this book. Revelation 13 is a prophecy of the image of the beast that exercises all the power of the beast. History tells us that this beast is very terrible. The image of the beast exercises all the power of the first beast. It will command that all that don’t worship the beast to be killed. There will be no mercy in that decree. Then we come to Revelation 14:1.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

Here are a people that are standing as conquerors on top of a mountain. Although the image of the beast has all the power of the beast, there are a people who have overcome the beast and his image, the number of his name and his mark. Do you want to be part of this people? What do you need to be part of these people? The Bible said they have something. If you have it then you will be with them. They have the Father’s name written in their foreheads.

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

The father’s name is equated to the seal. There is a mystery as to what the seal is. Why is there such a mystery over this seal? Can we have assurance to know exactly what it is? The overcomers experience the open door into the most holy part of the sanctuary.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, [which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I will write upon him] my new name.

Jesus is going to write his name. The sealing message began when this door was opened. The Father’s name and Jesus’ name is going to be imprinted into His people’s foreheads. There are people that say if you don’t use a particular name for God, you are wrong but there are so many names in the Bible so which one is going to be inscribed in the forehead? Is there something special about the name? Jacob was going through anguish, His experience is symbolic of the time of trouble God’s people will go through in the last days.

Genesis 32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What [is] thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 29 And Jacob asked [him], and said, Tell [me], I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore [is] it [that] thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

The angel asked Jacob his name and then he changed it. Then Jacob asked the angel his name but the angel didn’t say his name. Who was this angel? Jacob said he had seen God face to face.

Judges 13:17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What [is] thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour? 18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it [is] secret?

Why does God make his name a secret?

Judges 13:22 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

The 144,000 overcomers have in their foreheads the name of the Father and also Jesus’ new name. What does this angel Jesus Christ say about His name?

Exodus 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed.

The angel of the Lord was in the bush just like with Manoah.

Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I [am] the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

This angel messenger they identified as God.

Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, [when] I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this [is] my name for ever, and this [is] my memorial unto all generations.

How many generations? All. Are you part of a generation? Then this is his name forever. What is the name? I AM THAT I AM. This is the name that He identifies as his name. This name is secret. Isn’t it a strange name? What does it mean? I am that I am. I am what I am. I am who I am. The thing that I am is who I am. You need to know what he is to know who he is. We need to understand who is who. Then we will know that he is who he is. The name and the memorial are connected. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

He said, I’m not going to tell you my name. Humans have a problem. They take the letters of the name and make the sound important. But God’s name, the one that Jacob and Manoah sought after is secret. It is the seal, which He is going to use to seal his people. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is and not just that he is in existence but that he is what he is and a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. That is His name. What is the reward of those who diligently seek him?

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14 And I will be found of you, …

If we believe he is who he is and we seek for Him He will reward us by giving us Himself. If He gave us all his power and goodness but not Himself and we were still ourselves, we would abuse all the powers of God. We cannot have his things without Him so that we cannot misuse his power. All his power comes with Him if you seek Him. When you understand that he is what we discover him to be then we have his seal. What is the first thing that He is? The Creator.

Ezekiel 20:20 And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I [am] the LORD your God.

What will tell us who He is? The Sabbath is a sign that God’s people will know that He is God. If we understand that then we have his name. The Sabbath is the sign that God is the true God. Having told us that he is what he is the Sabbath is the sign that he is what he is.

Exodus 31:17 It [is] a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

He is the Creator

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: 11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Is just remembering that we have to be at church to carry out our duties remembering God? No, that is pretending. That puts a lot of people off. The Sabbath is a memorial to bring Him as a person into our remembrance. If God in his personage is brought into our minds, then his name is there and his name is brought into our foreheads. If our minds are everywhere else but on Him then his name is not in our foreheads. How do we get to know somebody? Can you learn a little bit about someone by getting to know what he or she is like? If God created the flowers, does he like flowers? His creation is an expression of his mind. If we ascertain the thoughts that God put into his creation and we think those things then we have Him as whom He is in our minds. That is what the people of God need to be saved.

Psalms 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 9 For he spake, and it was [done]; he commanded, and it stood fast.

All creation was an expression of his thoughts expressed in words. There is no other way to get to know someone except by what they do and say because you don’t know what they think.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

If God didn’t create anything we wouldn’t know Him. If we deny creation then we are denying who He is. If we deny that how can we get his name? You cannot disconnect creation and the gospel. If you do that you’ll never receive the seal.

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God,

If you don’t believe in Jesus you don’t know God. Christ is the image of the invisible God.

Colossians 1:15 … the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

This includes the governments of this world. Who set up the power for the kings of this world? Christ. Do you think God doesn’t care about politics and political stresses? He created everything on this earth. Everything is working for his will. He created all things. Do we know or forget that?

Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The Greek word for consist is ‘holding together’. He holds things so that they don’t self-destruct. That is who he is.

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

He creates things and holds all things all together He even holds things up! What else does he do?

2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in [both] which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.

Some people say the Lord made the world and then left us to it in a mechanical way. They say God doesn’t care about us anymore. God said that people would say that so that proves that God is right.

2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

God made the world by His word. God flooded the world by his word. Now all things are kept by His word unto fire against the day of judgement. Is there anything in our lives that we should be worried about If we believe that all things are made by God’s word? What do we need to be saved? We need to have him, his word and his thoughts. If we have him in our remembrance we will be saved.

Revelation 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.b18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, [and] so great. 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, [every stone] about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

How much are we dependant upon God’s word? He holds things together. His word has said hold everything together until my people know who I am until they have me the I AM in their frontal lobe and in their memory. When they know who I am that I am a God of love and have created all these things for their pleasure, enjoyment and peace and when they know whom God is then he will come and let things go to prove who he is.  Those who don’t believe, the ones who say the world is just locked together by scientific laws and has nothing to do with God can believe that but they will soon change their belief when the world falls apart

Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling [fig] from the fig tree. 5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Idumea is the religion of Esau. It is a religion that believes in God but not repenting and coming to a full knowledge as Jacob came to. God is going to bathe his sword. God’s sword, his word that comes out of his mouth (Revelation 19) will break down the atmosphere and the hosts of heaven will fall like leaves of autumn.

Isaiah 34:6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, [and] with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.

Revelation 19:3 says he will come from Bozrah with his garments are dipped in blood. The third angel’s message speaks of a people who receive the mark of the beast in the forehead or in their hand and are burned and tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of holy angels but there are people who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. They know who he is and trust in his word and though the heaven’s fall they will know whom they serve. Heaven and earth shall pass away but Jesus said my word will not pass away.

John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. But he that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words hath one that judgeth him, the word that I have spoken the same shall judge him in the last day.

Jesus tells us the future and what happened in the past but he says you don’t have to believe it. He will not wack us over the head but if we don’t listen to these words. The words that He speaks will judge us. God is not mocked because what a man soweth that shall he also reap. If we don’t have who he is (his character) in our minds on the Sabbath and spend time dwelling on who he is the word will only be a sword of death to us. As God was refreshed on the day he rested so every word that tells us whom God is that we absorb is refreshment to us. It is the refreshing that will come from the presence of the LORD.

It is the word as it is in Jesus and his doctrine that fall as the rain. The Bible says I will publish the name of the LORD and ascribe ye greatness. The name of the Lord will be published in teachings of righteousness according to righteousness that we will understand the truth in living terms and not as a theory. It is our choice whether we want to be sealed with the Fathers name. I pray we can get to know his character that we will know he is a God of love but he is also a God of justice and it is my prayer that we will be sealed with the 144,000 and stand together on Mt Zion with the Lamb.

Amen.

Further:

There are a lot of people that are getting involved in how to say God’s name the right way or how to spell it the right way or spell it without all the letters and making asterix and things in the middle so that you don’t actually spell it and then having their right pronunciation like the Jewish name. I believe strongly that is totally missing the point.

Exodus 3:13-15 And Moses said unto God, Behold, [when] I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this [is] my name for ever, and this [is] my memorial unto all generations.

This includes today. What is the name? God is who He is. His name is more His character than the pronunciation of some Jewish words. It misses the point. Let’s not get side tracked with words. Let’s delve into the meaning, the inspiration that is behind them.

Psalms 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

What is more important than the name itself in itself letting? What is more important? What is magnified about it? His word. His word is who He is. In the beginning was the word. It is who He is. I AM who I AM. That is who I am. That is my name, the personage, the character traits that I am. The glory, Moses wanted to see the glory of God and He showed Himself to Moses. Moses knew who God was. He proclaimed the name of the Lord and he said, the Lord, gracious and merciful and kind and all these wonderful traits that balance justice and mercy perfectly in a being. That has to become our mentality.
