01 A Divine Movement

Audio: mp3

Do you want to be a Nehemiah? Nehemiah built the walls of Jerusalem and fulfilled prophecy. It wasn’t an easy task. He had a difficult time and if we desire to be Nehemiah’s we need to understand a little of what he went through. The Spirit of Prophecy tells us there is need of Nehemiah’s in the church today.

The spirit manifested by the leader will be, to a great extent, reflected by the people. If the leaders professing to believe the solemn, important truths that are to test the world at this time, manifest no ardent zeal to prepare a people to stand in the day of God, we must expect the church to be careless, indolent, and pleasure-loving. {SW, March 29, 1904 par. 6}

Would the church be careless indolent and pleasure loving if we had Nehemiah’s in Adventism today? Because of the lack of care for the walls of Jerusalem and zeal for the pillars and foundation of God’s people, there is carelessness, indolence and pleasure seeking. Nehemiah was building up the old waste places.

Isaiah 58:12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

The people of God will be Nehemiah’s. If we are not Nehemiah’s we will be lukewarm and seeking pleasure.

The same difficulties are experienced by those who are now seeking to make up the breach in the law of God. The servants of the Lord must expect every kind of discouragement. They will be tried, not only by the anger, contempt, and cruelty of enemies, but by the indolence, inconsistency, lukewarmness, and treachery of friends and helpers. As we seek to advance the cause of truth, and prepare a people to stand in the day of God, we are led directly away from the customs and practices of the world. But there are among us pleasure-seekers, who are not laboring to meet the high standard of the divine requirements, who love the spirit and influence of the world more than they love the truth or the prosperity of God’s cause. {SW, April 19, 1904 par. 4}

God is leading in the exact opposite direction to the way of the world. The further we advance in time, should we be coming closer to the world or further away? We should be getting further away from the world. If there were Nehemiah’s in Adventism the church would be in a position now where Jesus would come. In fact he would have already come. That is how far we would be from the world as far as heaven is from the earth. This is the path in which God is leading. If we desire to be Nehemiah’s we need to expect every kind of discouragement not just from enemies, but also from friends and helpers. If we enjoy pleasure and ease are we really Nehemiah’s? Do you still want to be a Nehemiah? Are you willing to have your own friends and church family hinder you in the work of building the walls of Jerusalem? If you want to be a part of rebuilding Adventism this is what we need to expect. If we want to put our shoulder to the wheel and to put the blocks back where they belong and the gates back on their hinges and start getting the streets and the temple rebuilt, we need to brace ourselves.

A Divine Movement

We will consider why Adventism is the divine movement led by God. It is divine, not human. It was not cleaver thinking by some old people in the 1840’s. It is a divine movement mapped out in prophecy. What do you call a divine movement? Would you call it a church? The word church has a very different meaning in the minds of people today. They see church as a framework or infrastructure that holds a network of people in some sort of order and religious understanding. Jesus said to his disciples ‘Upon this rock (Jesus Christ) he would build his church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it’. The rock is Jesus Christ and he established the church upon the rock. In Greek the word CHURCH is (G1577) ekklesia which means “a calling out.”

Jesus is saying I am going to call out some people. I’m going to build you on the rock. If you don’t come out are you a church? If you don’t come out you are not a church at all. If you stay in, it is called a social club. Jesus isn’t building a social club. He is not in the game of building schools and infrastructure just for the fun of it. He wants to call people out. If that requires a school fine but he wants to call people out and he is going to build them on the rock. That is what he meant by a church, a calling out.

God’s Purpose

What is God’s purpose for calling people out?

2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

It was his purpose before the world began. The purpose was to save you and me. He came and offered salvation to us. He is calling us not because we are good people. He didn’t think, these guys are so good I want to build a church out of them. It was not according to our works but it was according to his purpose that he called us out. He had this purpose before the world began.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Again Jesus reiterates the point that it is not that we are good people. He has called us from the foundation of the world for the purpose of good works being created in us by Jesus Christ so our practical life would consist of walking in a godly way out of the world.

Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

What is God’s good pleasure?

Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him:

We talk of the Jewish and the Christian dispensations and all the little sections of history. Jesus’ purpose is to bring together in one ALL things – unification. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Christian or a Jew or in whatever era you lived, the calling and purpose is exactly the same and that is to be in unity with the church in Heaven.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.

How many things on this planet are geared to call people out and establish them on Jesus Christ in view of the world? The verse said; according to the purpose of him who worketh ALL things after the counsel of his own will. It doesn’t matter if it is a political, economical or a religious event. Everything that God has ordained on this earth is to bring to bring people out. That is his purpose and it has not changed.

Ephesians 1:2 Grace [be] to you, and peace, from God our Father, and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

God is calling a people to be holy and without blame before him in love. He wants to bring a people to himself out of the world. He is not bringing the world to himself. He is bringing a people out of the world to be blameless before him in love.

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

This is an eternal purpose. That means the purpose for the Jews is the same purpose for the Christians. Do you want to be part of this eternal purpose? There needs to be a revelation of the principalities and powers in heavenly places of the manifold wisdom of God. How will it be manifested to the worlds? It will be manifested to the un-fallen worlds by the church. The church, the people who come out of the world and perfect holiness in the fear of the LORD, will be a spectacle to the world and to angels and principalities in heavenly places. They will look at what God is doing. This is the reason for God’s church. No other reason exists on this planet for a church.

The Lord Jesus is making experiments on human hearts through the exhibition of His mercy and abundant grace. He is effecting transformations so amazing that Satan, with all his triumphant boasting, with all his confederacy of evil united against God and the laws of His government, stands viewing them as a fortress impregnable to his sophistries and delusions. They are to him an incomprehensible mystery. {CET 208.2}

Satan scratches his head over them. He can’t work them out. They are a witness to fallen angels as well as to unfallen worlds.

The angels of God, seraphim and cherubim, the powers commissioned to co-operate with human agencies, look on with astonishment and joy, that fallen men, once children of wrath, are through the training of Christ developing characters after the divine similitude, to be sons and daughters of God, to act an important part in the occupations and pleasures of heaven. {CET 208.2}

Do you know what God is actually doing in his church? He is recruiting people to be employed in heaven. Would you like a heavenly job? You may be having a hard time finding a job here on earth but there is a job in heaven for you. God has an occupation and pleasures for us to enjoy in heaven and he is looking to see who wants to come and be part of it. To be part of it you have to leave the world. He said come out and come to me and I will build you as a unit together. That is what a church is. What is Jesus coming for? He is coming to collect his recruitment which are people from Adam to us today. He is calling us to come out of the world not into an institution but into the divine training of Jesus in the truth. He is calling a people and when he has a people he will come. When he comes he will be glorified in his church. They will have developed through his training and grace into the similitude of the divine. They will be fitted and glorified for an occupation in heaven. He will be glorified in them.

2 Thessalonians 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

People will see their good works and will glorify the Father in heaven. Have you heard the news? Jesus is coming. If you want to be part of the program you will want to be part of his church and if you want to be part of his church you better come out of the world’s customs and practices because Jesus is leading directly opposite to the customs and practices of this world. That is the program.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 .Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Is it when he comes in the new world that we will live godly or is it right now in this present world? The Bible says he is calling and educating a people to deny worldly lusts that we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world.

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

What an expensive operation. Do you believe that Jesus sweated blood so we could get rid of our sins? Not to remain in our sins but to redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works to put into practical action the commandments of God because we love him? Peculiar means belonging to someone. It is something unique to a person, nothing else like it. What makes something peculiar is that it is to himself. The world stands in opposite direction to him.

1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

The Bible says upon this rock (Jesus Christ) will I build my church. These lively stones are to be joined together and anyone who believes on him will not be confounded and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

The apostle is speaking to the Christians. The Jews were his special people but now Christians are his special people. How can we give God glory? We give him glory by the way we live. The way we live is the loudest sermon we preach. The way you live may be the only Bible people read. We read of a people who were called out.

1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptised unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 3. And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

If I profess to be a Christian or an Adventist does that mean God is happy with me? No. Many of them God was not pleased with for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Do we have something to learn from these people? They were called out as an example so we can learn how to identify the movement that God is calling for and join up with them. God is not leading one person out of the world he is leading a people. We will consider some of these principles and how to identify the movement of today. These things were written for our learning because we are living at the end of the world.

Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

What did God establish with the Israelites? Was it a church? What is a church? It is a calling out. He called the children of Israel out and they became his church. What did he say to them?

Exodus 9:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

They would become a peculiar treasure to him. They would be his. However, just because they left Egypt did it mean they were his? The text says if you will obey my voice indeed. Indeed means in action.

Deuteronomy 26:17 Thou hast avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken unto his voice: 18 And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that [thou] shouldest keep all his commandments;

There are no two ways. At the end of the world the people who are to be his will keep the commandments of God. Does the Bible tell us that? Yes it does. Here are they who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Let’s not get caught up in the idea that there was a way of salvation for the Jews and a different way for the Christians. It is neither true nor biblical. The purpose of calling a people out in action to be a holy people in love was an eternal purpose. It was his purpose both now and in the time of the Israelites.

Isaiah 14:27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

The Bible says he stretched out his hand and gathered to him a people. If God has purposed something from the foundation of the world it will never fail. We have an option to be part of it.

Jeremiah 16:14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 15 But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

A Second Exodus

There will come a time when there will be another exodus that will bring his people from all parts of the world. How will he do it?

Jeremiah 16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

The disciples were fishers of men.

Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth,

The Bible tells us that when he comes the angels will go and collect his people from the four corners of the earth and the work of drawing a people from all over the world is a last day movement that is written of in Revelation. This is the great exodus that will eclipse the exodus of the children of Israel.

Jeremiah 16:14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; Jeremiah 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this [is] his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

An Exodus for the Gentiles

Verse five is talking about Jesus the righteous branch. After Jesus comes there was going to be another exodus relating to the gentiles.

Isaiah 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth… 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

What is Jesus going to build for his people to come out of Egypt? He is going to build a highway. We have a highway built for us already. This highway has been paved out by much effort and we need to get on it. What people had years learning we must speed through in a few short months. God is going to make it a short work in the last days. He is going to cut the work short in righteousness. God’s people at the end can take the highway and get out. If a great disaster were approaching such as a Tsunami, would you take the back street or the highway? We are living at the close of time. We need a system of truth that is going to speed us on our way out of this world quick smart and by the end of this lectures I pray you will decide to get on to that highway. No one uses this highway anymore. It is free. There is not much traffic on it. You will get there fast. Let’s now look at the principles of the exodus to identify God’s people in the last days.

Principles of the Exodus

  • The faith of Abraham
  • Falling into Bondage
  • Dragon Power
  • Definite Time Prophecy
  • Call to Worship God
  • Keep the Commandments
  • Faith of Jesus
  • Led by a Prophet

The Faith of Abraham

Who was Israel? Jacob. Who was Jacob’s father? Isaac. Who was Isaac’s father? Abraham. Was Abraham full of faith? Did he have a religion of works or faith? He was full of faith. Did he have the faith of Jesus Christ? Yes he did. Did he have the faith Christians need? Absolutely, never mistake it. Then how on earth did his children end up in Egypt?

Genesis 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Was Abraham’s faith connected with keeping the commandments? Yes the Bible tells us that. Faith without works is dead. We need to obey his voice indeed. Faith produces a change in the life. It did in Abraham. He had faith and he obeyed his commandments and statutes.

Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son

Did Abraham have faith in the cross of Calvary? Jesus said Abraham saw my day and was glad. The first principle is faith. The forefathers had genuine faith. So what happened?

Exodus 1:1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob. 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, 3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, 4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already. 6. And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

Falling into Bondage

Israel was a faithful man who had gospel faith. His offspring passed away and the generation passed away and then they began to fall into bondage. Were they just snapped up into bondage? Were they attacked by the Egyptians and bought in as slaves? No there was a falling away from the gospel faith into bondage into Egypt. Who did they fall in bondage to? The Egyptians were sun worshippers. Notice what the Jews ended up doing.

Sun Worship

“It is not to be denied but we borrow the name of this day from the ancient Greeks and Romans, and we allow that the old Egyptians worship the sun, and as a standing memorial of their veneration, dedicated this day (Sunday) to him. And we find by the influence of their example, other nations and among them the Jews themselves, doing him homage” Morer Dialogues on the Lord’s Day, 22,23

There was genuine faith and after a number of generations the children of Israel began worshipping on Sunday. We know that Abraham in his faith kept God’s commandments. He kept the Sabbath because we know the Sabbath was given to man at Creation. It was not something generated at Sinai. The Bible tells us that Abraham kept his commandments and laws. After a number of generations the offspring of this gospel/faith went into Sunday keeping. Pharaoh was the ruler. He had three distinct powers.

Pharaoh

“The iconography of the Ramasseum testifies to the five roles of the Pharaoh. 1. Royal and Political function. 2. Pontiff or Chief Priest function. 3. Military or protector function. It is important to realise that these function of duties were tightly interwoven. Thereby, the military protection of Egypt, for example was religious duty.” HSC Ancient History Book 2 p 32

He was the head of the state and the church. In other words Pharaoh was the pope. The children of this faithful man came into bondage under a man who had power over church and state and worshipped the sun. According to the Bible what was this power like?

Dragon Power

Ezekiel 29:3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.

What did the t Bible equate Pharaoh to? A great dragon. We see in the principles of the exodus that before the exodus occurred there was a falling away first from the genuine faith of Abraham who had gospel faith and the commandments of God including the Sabbath day. But after a number of generations they found themselves under a dragon power that had church and state combined and their religious day was Sunday and the Jews were keeping that day.

Exodus 1:13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour.

Does that sound like a restful experience? Who were the children of Israel serving, God or the system? They were serving the system and it was a hard system. Notice what happened when Moses came along.

Exodus 5:4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens. 5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now [are] many, and ye make them rest from their burdens. 13 And the taskmasters hasted [them], saying, Fulfil your works, [your] daily tasks, as when there was straw. 14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten…

This is a description of a system that has no rest. The religion of the Egyptians was based on works. There was no rest at all. If they didn’t follow the works specified by the dragon power they were beaten. How long did the children of Israel suffer under the Egyptians?

Definite Time Prophecy

Exodus 12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. 41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

Some say the Israelites weren’t in the land for 430 years as they calculate 215 years. But it is important to note the journey of the children of Israel included their time in Canaan because Canaan was under the empire of Egypt. Did Isaac suffer problems in Canaan and did he go into Egypt? Absolutely. Did Abraham go into Egypt and did he have some difficulties? Absolutely. This prophecy included the time of Isaac. In fact the 430 years according to Galatians began when Abraham was called to leave his country and go to Canaan. There is another prophecy that says your seed will suffer for 400 years. There is a 30-year gap.

His seed was from the time Isaac. The 430 years is from the time of Abraham’s call out of his country to the exodus. That is a direct time prophecy. The genuine faith of Abraham was lost sight of over a number of generations and the offspring fell into a power that combined church and state. They worshipped on Sunday. They had a religion of works and they had no rest and they were beaten (by the dragon power). There was a definite time prophecy of 430 years connected to the bondage. The Bible says on the self same day their exodus happened. These are the principles of the exodus. A definite time prophesy that indicates a time when God will call his people out. Now they are out we read;

Exodus 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no….

What was the test?

A Call to Worship

Exodus 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake [to day], and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

God called his people out. The time prophecy was fulfilled and he drew his people out and he introduced his people to a test as well as rest. It was the Sabbath day and note it was connected with worshipping God. When Moses went into Pharaoh he said let my people go that they can go out into the wilderness and worship me. Note this exodus, this calling out at a very accurate time period was a call to worship God and a test and rest in the Sabbath day. The Sabbath day is the day to worship God. These principles are vital because the Sabbath was a test to see if you will keep all the other ones. The Sabbath was not the only one to be kept as the other nine were not to be disregarded but the Sabbath was the sign of the observance of the other nine. There was a call to worship and a keeping of the commandments. As they came out God tested them to see what they would do.

Keeping the Commandments

Deuteronomy 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

The Faith of Jesus

What did God want to teach them in this exodus? He wanted to test them on the Sabbath and whether they would keep his commandments. He wanted them to worship him and to live on every word he said. That is called faith. Faith is to take the word ONLY and the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is the word of God. That was the faith he wanted to establish with them. Did Jesus live by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God? When Satan tempted him in the wilderness to make these stones into bread he said ‘Man doth not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ There is one more principle of the exodus.

Led by a Prophet

Hosea 12:13 And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

What is a prophet? It is the testimony of Jesus. Is the testimony of Jesus the spirit of Prophecy? Yes the Bible tells us that. There was a calling out after the genuine faith of Abraham and then there was a falling away into a Sunday power related to a dragon. They were there for a definite time period and at the end of the time period they were to come out. As they came out there was a test on the Sabbath to see if they would worship God. The Sabbath is a sign of creation. They were to keep his commandments and the faith of Jesus and have the testimony of Jesus because the testimony of Jesus got them out and kept them out. These things were written for our examples upon whom the ends of the world have come.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

The dragon power said I made this river for myself it is mine. God made the river Nile but Egypt said he made it therefore he said he was God. Before Jesus comes there was to be gospel purity. It was the faith of the disciples. The apostle says don’t be deceived, there will be a falling away first. In reference to the falling away we read;

Daniel 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy [it] unto the end.

This description was equated to a dragon. This power would be different from all the other kingdoms. What made this power different? It was that it had church and state together. The pontiff ruled the country just like Pharaoh. This pontiff or pope was going to wear out the saints. Does it sound like hard work? Did the Egyptians wear out the Israelites? Yes they were really worn out. He was going to change times and laws and set a day to honour the sun – Sunday. Is “and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time” a certain time? Yes 1260 years. But in verse 26 it says the judgment shall sit. This power was to dominate or persecute on a physical sense for 1260 years and the Bible also says they were to prevail against them.

Daniel 7:20 And of the ten horns that [were] in his head, and [of] the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even [of] that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look [was] more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Two time prophecies are involved in this war/ domination. One of them is the 1260 years of persecution and the other one is ’till the ancient of days came’.

Daniel 8:12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered.

The truth was going to suffer under this power.

Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily [sacrifice – a supplied word], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? 14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

This power would prevail not just on a physical nature but it would dominate the truth, crushing heretics and suppressing all truth until judgment came, until 2300 days/years. This prophecy ended in 1844. This seminar is for Seventh-day Adventists therefore no explanation will be given to prove the date. What happened in 1844? What was the message at that time?

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Was the second exodus a localization of Egypt or was it from the four corners of the earth? Here is a message for every nation kindred and tongue.

The record of Israel’s forgetfulness has been preserved for our enlightenment. In this age God has set His hand to gather unto Himself a people from every nation, kindred, and tongue. In the advent movement He has wrought for His heritage, even as He wrought for the Israelites in leading them from Egypt. Manuscript 15, November, 1888

Revelation 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come.

The Bible said in Daniel they would be prevailed against until the judgment and now the judgment is here. The hour of his judgment is come. It came in 1844. What happened in 1844?

Revelation 14: 7 … and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Was there a separation from the Sunday apostate churches in 1844? Yes there was. Did these people who were wrenched from this position come to worship their creator on the Sabbath? Absolutely.

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Revelation 14:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

After the exodus Pharaoh pursue them. The fulfillment of the time for Israel’s deliverance had come. They had gone out and Pharaoh was after them.

Revelation 14:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The people at the end must come out of Sunday keeping at a specific Bible-mentioned time and that coming out was to institute the Sabbath as a test of all the other commandments as well as to worship the creator. They were also to be brought out by a prophet. They had to have a prophet because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Revelation 19:10 …the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The people Isaiah talked about were to keep the Sabbath. These are the Gentiles. This Bible text does not apply to the Jews it is referring to the Gentiles.

Isaiah 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. 3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. 4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

What was God’s pleasure from eternity? Was it that he would have a people who would come out and be planted on Jesus the rock and when Jesus comes he would have glory? He said, choose the things that please me and take hold of my covenant.

Isaiah 56:2 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain,

These are the people that were brought to the holy mountain.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

Is that an eternal name? Is it better than the name of the son? It is a name that will never perish.

Revelation 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they, which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.

The Song of Moses

Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God.

Why do they sing the song of Moses? Is this the second exodus the Bible is talking about? Absolutely, it is biblical.

Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [are] thy ways, thou King of saints.

These people who are with the lamb, the 144,000 will come out of a specific time prophecy in 1844. This advent movement was keeping the Sabbath and they had the gift of prophesy among them. There is no other movement. It cannot be mistaken. It is a divine movement and it taught about the 144,000, the sealing message and the father’s name and all the truths we will be talking about. They had it because it was a divine movement. It was not cleaver thinking on their part. It was a revelation of God to the pioneers of Adventism. These people who are with him, the lamb and who overcome the world are called out of the world.

Called Chosen and Faithful

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

The advent message is come out of the world and worship God. They are not just called but they are chosen. They are not just chosen but they are faithful. Will you be faithful to the call or will you hear the call and take a couple of steps and go back for the leaks and onions? Many churches often scoff at the Advent movement but if you take your Bible and study it as it is written these evidences point to the advent movement as being the only genuine article in the time of 1844. Many churches started in 1844 but they didn’t have the biblical credentials that the Advent movement has. It is biblical. In the following lectures we are going to consider this platform of truth, this divine movement and this highway for you and me and we want to understand it in order to get on it and lift up the walls and be repairers of the breach like Nehemiah. I pray we can see from the Bible that Advent Movement is a divine movement.

Amen.
