Delusions to Believe a Lie

About 1400 years ago there was a man who made the following predictions and these were events that he said would take place before the Day of Judgement:

  • When untrustworthy people will be regarded as trustworthy and the trustworthy will be regarded as untrustworthy.
  • When it will be hot in winter and cold in summer.
  • When the length of days is stretched, i.e. a journey of a few days is covered in a matter of hours.
  • When orators and lecturers lie openly.
  • When people dispute over petty issues.
  • When women with children come displeased on account of them bearing offspring, and barren women remain happy on account of having no responsibility of offspring.
  • When oppression, jealousy, and greed become the order of the day.
  • When people blatantly follow their passions and whims.
  • When lies prevail over the truth.
  • When violence, bloodshed and anarchy become common.
  • When immorality overtakes shamelessness and is perpetrated publicly.
  • When the offspring become a cause of grief and anger (for their parents).
  • Music and musical instruments will be found in every home.
  • People will indulge in homosexuality.
  • There will be an abundance of illegitimate children.
  • There will be an abundance of critics, tale-carriers, back- biters and taunters in society.
  • People will establish ties with strangers and sever relations with their near and dear ones.
  • Hypocrites will be in control of the affairs of the community and evil, immoral people will be at the helm of business establishments.
  • Gangsters and evil people will prevail.
  • Various wines will be consumed excessively.

Are these becoming a description of the realities of today? This is a very accurate description of society today. They sound so good, so right. Upon examination of these predictions, or prophecies, one could quite easily conclude that the one who made these predictions was a righteous man, a prophet, whom one may follow in safety. They have become fulfilled in every specification. They were made by the prophet Mohammad sometime between the time 600 and 630AD and in consideration of how accurately they have been fulfilled is it any wonder that so many people follow this man who made these prophecies? So much of what Mohammad said has come true. Things that in his day did not exist that he said would exist today. There is another prediction that Mohammad made. There is another event that will take place just prior to the Day of Judgement. There will be an army, said Mohammed. An army will come from Khurasaan carrying black flags.

“(Armies carrying) black flags will come from Khurasaan. No power will be able to stop them and they will finally reach Eela (Baitul Maqdas) where they will erect their flags.”

“There will be many armies after me. You must join that army which will come from Khurasaan.”

“So whoever reaches that (time) ought to come to them even if crawling on the ice/snow.”

He said that armies carrying black flags will come from Khurasaan and no power will be able to stop them and they will finally reach the Bator Maxus (Jerusalem) where they will erect their flags. He says you must join that army that will come from Khurasaan and that whoever reaches that time ought to come to them even if crawling on ice. It is an obligation that when a follower of Islam if they are truly going to be conscientious and truly following the dictates of their leader when they see an army come from a place called Kurdistan even if they have to crawl over ice they have to join that army because it will conquer Jerusalem. Khurasaan is a city on the eastern side of Jerusalem but in Mohammad’s day it was called greater Khurasaan and this area was in the far reaches of the Persian Empire encompassing today Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan and Iran. When an army comes from these eastern reaches they are to join that army. It is an interesting peace of information perhaps it will happen and perhaps it will not happen.

Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

Mohammad says that prior to the time this army will come from the east the coasts of Syria and Iraq will be under such heavy oppression that as a power they will not exist. In the book Daniel and the Revelation Uriah Smith refers to the Euphrates as the power through which the Euphrates flows. The drying up of the river is representative of those powers coming to demise.

By their sufferance alone that government now exists, and when they shall withdraw their support, and leave it to itself, as they will do under the sixth plague, that symbolic river will be wholly dried up; Turkey will be no more, and the way will be all open for the nations to make their last grand rally to the Holy Land. The kings of the East, the nationalities, powers, and kingdoms lying east of Palestine, will act a conspicuous part in the matter; for Joel says in reference to this scene, “Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat.” The millions of Mohammedans of Persia, Afghanistan, Toorkistan, and India will rush to the field of conquest in behalf of their religion. (See more about Turkey in Dan.11:4045.) {1897 UrS, DAR 692.6}

Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, [which] go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Armageddon is the Greek word for Mount Megiddo. It is located at the head of pass through the Carmel ridge overlooking the valley of Jezreel and the valley is today called Armageddon. It is a valley, a large plan just south of the lower Galilee area of Israel. It comes from the coast to the city of Haifa down to the Jordon and to the dead sea and it was supposed to originally be the channel through which the dead seas was connected to the Mediterranean. In contemplation of this plain Napoleon said all the armies of this world could maneuver the forces on this vast plain. It is one of the most strategic roads on Palestine and it is a more traffic route that connects Europe with the middle east and with Africa and so it will be that they will be gathered into this place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. How will they be gathered?

The sources from which these spirits issue, denote that they will work among three great religious divisions of mankind, represented by the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet, or Paganism, Catholicism, and apostate Protestantism. {1897 UrS, DAR 694.2}

But why would they come up there at the last minute? How is that when they are called they will come as it seems to be such a short time that these sprits of devils have miracles to work in.

Another event to be noticed under this plague is the issuing forth of the three unclean spirits to gather the nations to the great battle. The agency now already abroad in the world known as modern Spiritualism, is in every way a fitting means to be employed in this work. But it may be asked how a work which is already going on can be designated by that expression, when the spirits are not introduced into the prophecy until the pouring out of the sixth plague, which is still future. We answer that in this, as in many other movements, the agencies which Heaven designs to employ in the accomplishment of certain ends, go through a process of preliminary training for the part which they are to act. {1897 UrS, DAR 693.2}

Mohammed predicted that certain things would take place and they took place and as the followers of Mohammed see these things taking place they become confirmed into their minds that he was a prophet. They think if this happened and he said it would then perhaps when an army comes from Khurasaan it’s going to conquer Jerusalem and I want to be a part of it. Before the sprits can have such absolute authority over the race to father to battle against the King of Kings and Lord of Lords they must first wing their way among the nations of the earth and law. If Islam called for all Muslims to come to the Middle East when an army comes from the far reaches of the old Persian world and beyond, could that not be a gathering by the unclean spirits to the battle? If an army, a large army of the followers of Mohammad came to conquer Jerusalem in consideration of the appreciations now in our world and respect for the Jews and for Jerusalem, what would the consequences be? Why does the nation of Israel exist today?

Israel

In the late 1800’s there was the growth of what was called Zionism and this originated from the teaching of a particular interpretation of Old Testament prophesy to say that God will recover the Jews from their captivity he will gather them from all their nations and bring them gain to the promised land. In the last century indeed by what seems to be miraculous events in situation in which it was impossible 1948 Israel became a state. Bible prophecy was fulfilled that’s what they believed. Once again that Promised Land was theirs even from generation to generation and so they will do everything they can to keep it. This same interpretation in the Old Testament prophecy is rife in Christianity and many nations today support Israel. They teach from their own pulpits that the Jews will return to their homeland and that they will even rebuild Solomon’s temple. The Catholic Church has changed its attitude in the past 50 years to the Jews.

John Paul the Eleventh called them the people of God of the old covenant never retracted by God. In 1986 praying in a Jewish synagogue in Rome he said this – ‘The Jewish religion is not intrinsic to us but in a certain way it is intrinsic to our own religion with Judaism therefore we have a relationship which we do not have with any other religion. You are our dearly loved brothers and in a certain way it could be said you are our elder brothers.’ He even prayed at the Wailing Wall and left a note with a prayer to God for forgiveness for Christian persecution of the Jews during the middle ages.

The People of the Covenant

Nostra Aetate in 1985 said – We must in any case rid ourselves of the traditional idea of a people punished, preserved as a living argument for Christian apologetic. It remains a chosen people, “the pure olive on which were grafted the branches of the wild olive which are the gentiles” (John Paul II, 6th March, 1982, alluding to Rom 11:17-24). We must remember how much the balance of relations between Jews and Christians over two thousand years has been negative.

He said that Christian and Jews have a common spiritual heritage. The Catholic Church has invested interests in Jerusalem. The spiritualist pagan world is interested because Jerusalem is one of the magnet centers of the world which gives it much significance to the occults to day. What about Adventists today? Regardless of what they teach about the Jews how do they interpret Peter? Just submit yourself to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake. What is the modern day of that interpretation? Combine that with Romans;

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the higher powers.

So they submit themselves to the higher powers and the governments of their lands because they are ordained of God. In world war one and two the Seventh Day Adventist church dropped their standard and participated in war and disfellowshipped those who opposed it. Today it doesn’t matter whether you are a medical officer or a combatant, either way they will provide a chaplain to encourage you. There was a service and they had soldiers with guns walk down the aisle and they fired live rounds into the sky. There is no doctrinal safeguard against man’s participation in war and without that safeguard in place when the government and the world are called to Armageddon and they bring in such things as conscription therefore will they not also be found on the battle field? How is it that a church that had such great light can permit such deterioration of doctrine within their ranks to open the doors wise to participation in war? We read it in Revelation 16 simply because the spirits of devils have been gathering them to the battle of that great day.

What the Adventist Church says about Armageddon;

From the Signs of the Times, September, 2004, an official organ of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, comes this article:

“Revelation indicates that the issues in earth’s final war will be global, not local. And the issues (and combatants) will be spiritual, not political as they are at present in the Middle East. The battle of Armageddon will pit the nations of the world against the armies of heaven…

Revelation 13 says that the second beast will use false miracles to deceive the inhabitants of the world (verse 14). It is possible that one such deception will be a counterfeit battle of Armageddon; after all, the spirits of demons will gather the entire world to this battle (16:12-14).

In this respect the Bible gives two important details that can prevent us from being deceived. According to popular Christian culture, Armageddon finds the nations of the world taking sides against each other, arrayed in battle on a dusty Palestinian plain.

In Revelation, on the other hand, the nations of the world assemble to make war against Christ, not against each other. Moreover, it appears that virtually all nations participate. So, no matter how terrifying a world war in the Middle East may be, if the nations of the earth are fighting each other, that war is not the biblical Armageddon….

The battle of Armageddon may indeed be imminent, but not in the form some Christians expect. It will not be fought on a desert plain with guns and tanks. Rather, it will be fought in the hearts and minds of people throughout the world.” Signs of the Times Alan Reinach.

A dusty plain – is not this how the early pioneers interpreted it?

At its climax, Christ will come to rescue His faithful people and destroy His enemies, ridding the universe forever of the plague of sin and all the suffering it has wrought (see Revelation 19:20).Signs of the Times Alan Reinach.

They say it is not Armageddon, it is just a political upheaval, spirits and devils gathering. I have loved ones in the Adventist church and I have worked with Muslims, Catholics and Christians and they are beautiful genuine people and I am not having a go at anyone. Neither do I sanction the tearing down of other religions. God has given people a mind to choose what they want to believe and we are called to respect that but it is sad to consider that the world will be gathered to the battle. We have just examined a few possibilities as to how it is that these nations could be gathered to the Middle East. Perhaps the doctrines that I have highlighted will be the cause of it, perhaps not.

But there is something here that is very valuable for us to learn. The three religious divisions paganism, Protestantism and Catholicism will be gathered and they will be gathered by miraculous workings and deceptive teachings. Through the various doctrines and the various teachings of the different divisions the hearts and the minds of people are being prepared to be there. They are becoming so convinced that what they believe is right that when the call comes according to the dictates of their own conscience, they will be there and the blood will flow out as it is described in Revelation. Revelation indeed a contemplation of such an occurrence and one may ask how this scripture can be true.

Revelation 14:20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand [and] six hundred furlongs.

In 1 John 4:8, how is the character of God described? He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In view of this great slaughter of humanity, how is it that God can permit such a thing, and still be vindicated as a God of love? How can a God who loves sit back and permits such a mess to take place?

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Psalm answers it for us very simply. How can God be love and permit the entire world to destroy each other. How?

Psalms 9:15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit [that] they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. 16 The LORD is known [by] the judgment [which] he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. 17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, [and] all the nations that forget God.

How is the Lord known? By the judgment which he executes but in the judgment which he executes we find a declaration of the love of God. The wicked is snared is the work of his own hands.

God does not stand toward the sinner as an executioner of the sentence of transgression but he leaves the rejecters of his mercy to themselves to reap that which they have sown. GC 36:1.

God is not an executioner. Yes they will all be gathered there but it won’t be him doing the killing. They will be snared in the work of their own hands. He is not an executioner. Yes, He will execute vengeance upon the heathen, and tread the winepress of His wrath. The wicked are snared in the works of their own hands. It is in consequence of their own choices.

Psalm 81:1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, [A Psalm] of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. 2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

What did God do when they wouldn’t have anything of his ways? He gave them up to themselves What type of heart is that?

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Desperately wicked – who can know it?

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.

The heart is so deceitful that something which is not good seemeth good. There is a way that seemeth right unto a man. It seems right it looks right, it must be right. The heart will deceive us into thinking that something that is not right is right but the ends therefore are the ways of death. God will give us up. God gave them up to their hearts. He will permit us to be deceived into thinking that something that is not alright is okay.

2 Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

We find a very startling discovery of God’s character. I remember when I first discovered this aspect of God’s character, I stood in awe and I trembled.

2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way.

If we have no interest in hearkening to God’s voice preferring instead to follow the dictates of our own conscience, if we will not rejoice in the love of the truth then God will permit us to be so deluded that we will be convinced in our own mind that what I believe is true. He will even permit experiences to happen in your life that will only strengthen the conviction that you are right. He has done it for hundreds of years with the Catholic Church and with Israel. If you heard of the multitudes of miracles that happened when the Adventists went to war, that confirms to them that it is their duty to support their nation. How many people in the world die for their religion because they are so convinced that it is right?

He looked with compassion upon men who were becoming corrupted, ruined, murdered, and lost, through choosing a ruler who chained them to his car as captives, and yet these slaves were so bewildered, so beguiled and deceived, that they were actually pleased with their slavery as they moved on in gloomy procession toward eternal ruin,–to death in which is no hope of life, toward night to which comes no morning. {RH, October 22, 1895 par. 5}

They were actually pleased with their slavery because they are so bewildered, so beguiled and so deceived so God sent strong delusions that they should believe a lie. You know the story of the children of Israel. Manna wasn’t good enough for the Israelites – we want flesh so what did God do? He gave them flesh.

Psalm 78:26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

We read of the account of the Israelites in the wilderness. He gave them what they wanted. He gave them their own desire. Do you remember the other account? Israel came to Samuel and they said we want to be like the other nations around us. Give us a king.

1 Samuel 8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. 6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

He said if you have a king these are going to be the consequences. He will take your sons and appoint them to himself, your chariots and the Lord will not hear you in that day. He warned them and said if you follow this cause, if you so this, this is what you will reap. But would they hearken to his voice? No they wouldn’t, so he gave them up to their own heart.

1 Samuel 8:19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

God did this time and time again

Ezekiel 20:25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes [that were] not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

God gave them what they wanted. He knew it wasn’t good for them but he gave it to them and said here, have it. If we do not want to believe the truth then God will permit you in all conscientiousness “believe a lie”. How careful then ought we to be? Christ said that many false Christ’s will arise and they will show great signs and wonders and if it’s possible they will deceive even the very elect. Satan can transform himself into an angel of light. Something which is so decrepit and so wrong, he can make look so right.

I saw the rapidity with which this delusion was spreading. A train of cars was shown me, going with the speed of lightning. The angel bade me look carefully. I fixed my eyes upon the train. It seemed that the whole world was on board, that there could not be one left. Said the angel, “They are binding in bundles ready to burn.” Then he showed me the conductor, who appeared like a stately, fair person, whom all the passengers looked up to and reverenced. I was perplexed and asked my attending angel who it was. He said, “It is Satan. He is the conductor in the form of an angel of light. {EW 88.2}

Are you on the train to Megiddo or are you walking the narrow way? It is possible to think that we are on that narrow way when in reality we are on the train? The heart is deceitful above all things. We do not fear ourselves as we ought to. Self cannot be trusted for one second. Our prayer must be with David.

Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

We must pray this we all the fervency of our hearts and spirits. We need to cry search me O God and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. This needs to be our constant prayer. In every aspect of our lives whether it is how we dress, what we eat or who we spend our time with. Whatever it is, is God permitting us to live a delusion? Search me God and see if there be any wickedness in me and lead me to the way of everlasting because if there be any wickedness in me the way is death. There is a train to Megiddo or there is a narrow way.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things [but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them [but] dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

We need to follow Apostle Paul as he followed Christ. Are you willing to count any idol that may exist in your heart as dung? Are you willing to count it all but loss? Is that why many people will refuse the truth because of the suffering yet there are many Jihads who will die for their faith? God is calling us to exercise our intelligence and not the deceitful lusts of our heart. God will show it unto you. God will show us any delusions that we have in our life if we want him to.

Philippians 3:12-3:15 In this Scripture is the promise that we shall not be left to grope our way along in doubt and perplexity.–Manuscript 148, 1902.

God will make the way plain if we are truly desirous of not having our own way and are truly willing to give up anything that has to do with self. If we have any delusions in our life, God will show it to us. We will hear a voice in our mind that says this is the way walk ye in it. We need to be very afraid of our own selves. We are called to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Why? Because of what’s written here. Search me O God and know my heart, try me. Let God try you, let him show you where you are mistaken. Let him break you out of any spell that you may have.

He doesn’t want you there at Megiddo. You don’t want to be there either. Yes we will be called to make sacrifices that will draw the very life blood out of us and we will say I didn’t know that I was doing that wrong. Better to know it now. Lay your life before the Lord, everything. We are called to a relationship with the Lord in everything we do. Even brushing our teeth, Lord am I doing it the right way, Am I doing the right thing. We must please the Lord that he will not allow us to follow the dictates of our own heart because even the elect can be deceived. May the Lord grant us a greater awareness of the true untrustworthiness of our hearts that we will be like a little child afraid to put our own interpretation upon it. God won’t suffer us to fall if we hold his hand.

Amen.
