04 The Planting of Faith

Living Faith Seminar, Study 4, Audio: 04 The Planting of Faith

If we had been buried with him in baptism we’ll also be raised with him in the newness of life. The symbol of baptism is to depict the death that one is making because of the nature that they find themselves in. When the law has done its work the soul is in a pit of misery and as the soul realises it utter weakness and all it can do is cry. When someone cries, it’s always the loudest when they’re about to die. In that last bit of energy when you call out to the name of the Lord you will be saved. If you were in a comfortable situation and call out ‘help’ with real enthusiasm, how well could you do it? What if you were at the bottom of a cliff? The waves are raging and someone is listening, how loud would you cry? The circumstance creates the energy. You can’t fake it. When the shadows of death creep over you something changes in you and you can call out like nothing. That is what it means when it says ‘He that calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved’. This is Jesus prayer on the cross. You can verify it from the context of the whole chapter.

Psalm 69:13 But as for me, my prayer [is] unto thee, O LORD, [in] an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation. 14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

Does that sound like baptism?

Psalm 69:15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. 16 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness [is] good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. 17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. 18 Draw nigh unto my soul, [and] redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

The carnal nature is God’s enemy. We are our worst enemy. We are calling out to the Lord, save me, help me!

Psalm 69:13 But as for me, my prayer [is] unto thee, O LORD, [in] an acceptable time:

This means there is an unacceptable time to call out. It is unacceptable to ask for the seed of faith when that heart has not been ploughed but when it has been ploughed through and through and is broken, then it is an acceptable time to plant the seed.

Psalm 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

What happens to the ear? It’s opened. The sound that comes into the ear is understood more than at any other time. Have you ever heard something but it means nothing to you but then you hear it again and wow all of a sudden it has meaning? At that time your ear was open before it was shut. There is a time in our experience when we come all broken before the Lord because of all the wrong we have done and this experience prepares the heart and opens the ears. Then when God speaks all of a sudden we say, wow I didn’t know he said that. Yet he had said it from the beginning of the world.

Psalm 34:17 [The righteous] cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many [are] the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

When your soul is in need and you call out to the Lord then God is closest to you. When you don’t think he’s there, that’s when he is closest. When Jesus called out, my God why have you forsaken me? God was there veiling himself in the darkness. (Psalms 18). The dark forebodings blocked his vision. Nevertheless that was the acceptable time.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Just as surely as Christ took our nature so shall we take his nature upon us.

2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, [as] workers together [with him], beseech [you] also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

The apostles plead don’t receive the seed into a hard heart. Look at that law until you are broken.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now [is] the accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation.)

Right now in this acceptable time when you are the lowest you’ve ever been then the Lord will lift you up. The apostle also warns.

Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

It is a shame that many people are hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. They see their sin as virtues so they don’t see the necessity of breaking the ground and they receive the grace of God in vain.

Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

People don’t really want to be saved. They want to be in heaven with the mansions but they don’t want to give up their sins so they have dull hearing. They hear a message from the pulpit that convicts them and say that’s not true because they’re afraid of being converted. They have blocked ears.

Hearing

I want to labour on the point of hearing reflecting a little on our past study. Here are the results of people sowing the seed in an unacceptable time. Some people don’t want to acknowledge their sin at all. They are totally hard.

Matthew 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth [it] not, then cometh the wicked [one], and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

The sounds of God’s word are travelling through the air around the world. Preachers are preaching words and they hit people’s ears and they say that’s rubbish. They brush it off because they don’t understand the gospel and then Satan snatches it up. Such people are like the atheists that refuse to acknowledge God. They do not want to know. They haven’t been ploughed. Satan is a very punctual man he is there at every meeting waiting to snatch up the seed.

Mark 4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

Here is a class of people represented by the first ploughing. The word making some soft soil and some clumpy rocks. Not everything is broken down. People acknowledge sin and hear God’s words but haven’t been thoroughly prepared. They say that great, we can go to heaven! They get thrilled with the opportunity of life after death. After a little while, they realise what they have to give up and persecution comes. They are offended and they say that’s a bit too far. If you’re a person that likes the thought of heaven and God’s word, yet when it comes to the sufferings you get offended and you say that’s extreme religion. Such an attitude is of a person that has only had one round of the Law of God. Then there are those that have had two rounds of ploughing.

Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

These are the people who seem to have a bit more stamina. They hear and realise that it’s going to cost something but are determined to try and do it. They are like personal trainers saying we can do it just believe. They say we can overcome everything. There are many people that teach such things that it is the power of the mind yet when it comes to perfection they fail because they are trying with the carnal nature. Can the carnal heart do good? It cannot change itself. It can only do good in an outward manner. There are people that take God’s law really seriously. We have to obey every single thing and they start reforming their lives and it becomes a burden but it doesn’t matter. They endeavour to perform the perfections of God’s law yet they get choked because of the stress of life and they become bigoted. This is the class of people who haven’t had the third round of the law. They haven’t realised the weeds that have come up need to be ploughed again.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep [it], and bring forth fruit with patience.

These are very important words we have just read. They have heard the word. They have an honest and good heart. There’s nothing good about the carnal heart except when it is broken. Such people have a broken heart and they’re frank that nothing good can come of them. When they hear the word they know they can’t do it yet they keep the word in their heart. The Psalmist says thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. These people say, I love that, I know I can’t do it, yet I love it and I am going to keep it in my heart. Such people that keep it, maintain it, hold onto it and bring forth fruit with patience.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (repentance) and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Some people believe when you’re born of the Spirit believe you can do whatever you like and can still get to heaven. He that is of the Spirit is not under the law because through the spirit we mortify the deeds of the flesh.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

When a soul realises that his whole nature is totally wrong and the words come into his ears, you must be born again, that soul will say, yes! I want to be born again I want to be like Jesus. That desire is the hope that we are saved by. If you don’t want to keep God’s law you won’t receive Jesus Christ because the genetic code given by Jesus Christ has obedience to God’s Law in it. Therefore the hope that is brought about by the words ‘you will be born again’ to the soul that is ready to die inspires the hope that saves. Such a one will love every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.

Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 11:20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

He gives them a new heart so they can obey the commandments and do them. If you want a new heart for any other reason, you’re not going to get it. The new heart is for obedience and it has a genetic code that will obey Gods law as it is the victory that overcomes the flesh and all that is in the world.

Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

That is what the law did.

Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them].

It’s cause to effect. Not magic. Do you love these words? Do you say, yes I want that? I’ve been trying to keep God’s law for a long time and can’t do it this is great I want it.

2 Corinthians 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

We have the opportunity to have the code that Jesus Christ the author of faith has written for us so then when people see us they will read us because actions speak louder than words. We become epistles, a book of the Bible, part of God’s word and collectively all of God’s people make up the body of Christ, the whole scriptures. The Bible was written by the experiences of God’s people when they were impressed with the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:3 [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.

God’s law is going to be written in the genetics on the fleshly tables of the heart not on stone any more. The sin of Judah was written with a pen of iron inscribed on the tables of the heart. But God is going to erase that and write something else. Only the creator can do that and change the program.

2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God;

When God’s law is written on our hearts we cannot boast about. It is His work he has done it but it is manifested in me.

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written [and] engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which [glory] was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation [be] glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away [was] glorious, much more that which remaineth [is] glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

The ministration of death was when God wrote his principles on a piece of stone that we could not keep. That ministration has killed us. Sin revived and I died. The Bible said that was glorious. Was not the experience on Sinai something to behold; the mountain shaking with fire and Moses face shone with the glory of God they could not look at it? But there is something much more glorious done on Mt Calvary. It had blackness, lightning and shook like Mt Sinai and there was the inscription in the human gene for the Law of God. That is much more glorious. To have God’s Law so I can partake of it and achieve it. Why? Because it is compatible with my nature. That’s why it’s much more glorious. It is the ministration of death. If someone threw paper at you, would you die? No.But if someone threw a stone at you, would you die? Those who broke the commandments were stoned.

There is something that is not unto death. If we don’t want to partake of the righteousness that is inscribed in human code then we will have to meet the Law of God. It will hit you fair in the head on the day of judgement. It will bring you down. Make a choice. Which one would you like to be thrown at you? A piece of DNA or a stone? If we don’t receive that seed we’ll be lost. That law will condemn you to eternal death. God is not mocked what a man soweth that shall he also reap. He that soweth to the flesh shall reap corruption but he that soweth to the Spirit shall reap ever-lasting life. When was the last time you planted a rock, and it grew? I tried it once just to see. Nothing happened. It doesn’t grow. But if you have a seed which has in it a living reality and put it in the ground and do the same, it lives. We need to have that in our heart.

Hebrews 8:10 For this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

In other words when something is instinctive you don’t have to be taught. I don’t have to teach my dog to bark and so when God’s people are born again you won’t have to be saying excuse me you should be doing this or that. It is Moses job to pester people. When faith comes you will know what to do. Some people think when they are born of the spirit it gives them a right to sin. They feel it is their right to do so. I’ve met very spiritual people who think it is fine to break God’s law and not keep the Sabbath day. Was the Sabbath written on the stone? When he writes his law on our hearts is he going to leave anything out? If he does we will be mutated. Do you realize that? You will be born defective. Does our God create genes that are half done needing to evolve? When God makes something He makes it good and perfect from the beginning and it does not need improvement. When God’s law is placed in your heart it includes the Sabbath day. Many who say they are born again disgrace the Sabbath hours or find it a burden. That proves they are not born again because it is not their instinct. Do you believe that God will do his promises?

Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

It was imputed to Abraham for righteousness. God made a promise to Abraham and as far as the promise itself is concerned it seemed impossible. But does God promise something that cannot be done? Did Abraham disbelieve because it seemed fairly hard? Is anything too hard for God? Sarah laughed at the thought of bearing a child in her old age. Our God is the God of chemistry and he can get in there and make something that was dead alive and he made Sarah’s womb alive and she bore a son. She laughed but Abraham said, is anything too hard for God? We can do all things through Christ who strengthened us. He was fully persuaded.

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

All the promises of God are installed in the seed ready to go. That promise was yes and Amen to the glory of God by us. Men shall see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven because of what I do in behaviour. That is what it means by the words; for all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. We are the vessels by which we carry this treasure. All the fullness of the Godhead bodily is in the seed. This is what it means to be born again. Getting all happy clappy is not being born again. It is nothing short of revelry but it is having all ten laws of God instilled with the power of God in your body.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word, which by the gospel is preached unto you.

In other words these sound waves that are going into your eardrum is it. It is words isn’t it? The word of God is what we are reading.

Romans 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

They have been preached to the entire world because it says when the gospel has been preached in all the world then the end shall come. Aren’t we living in the end of the word? When the frequency from the particular words that Jesus speaks enters into your eardrum, when it is ready to be received they will change our brain. It is the divine nature.

Romans 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

When you plant a seed you dig a hole and put it in. In my ear is a hole and when God’s word goes in there it needs to be soft so it will go to your brain. That is the gospel. When we love and cherish it then we are the sons of God for we have His word in us.

Luke 9:44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears:

Don’t block your ears. But if you want to block your ears there are many churches that will suit the person who wants to hold on to his pet love and idols but not God’s church. It will continue to preach the word and if it rips you apart let it be so and if it encourages you praise the Lord you are in the right place.

Luke 9:45 for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

Jesus was trying to tell his disciples about his suffering but their hearts were not ready to hear it. When they went through their experiences at the cross and their and agony in the upper room they remembered what Jesus said and finally the words slipped in and grew.

Matthew 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

God gave us ears on the side of our heads for our salvation. He gave eyes also for salvation. These are the avenue for his word to conceive in our minds and he said to them take heed what you hear. God gave us ears in order to be saved but we use our ears to ear the vilest music and sounds that are not good. Take heed to what goes in your eardrum. What goes in there you will become. Satan corrupted Eve into the carnal nature. He did it by speaking nice sweet nothings into her ear. She believed him and then the devil got into her head and nature was changed out of its course. And God wants to use those same ears and speak His word back into them. His word is creative.

Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.

Today God has sent his word into our ears. He has sent it there and he doesn’t want it to come back void. There will be faith when he comes, some will believe.

Isaiah 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap [their] hands.

They will break forth into singing because it was by the word of the LORD they were made and that word that put them there put me here. Praise the LORD for the trees and mountains as they testify to the power of His word.

Isaiah 55:13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign [that] shall not be cut off.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick but when the desire cometh it is a tree of life. We need to have patience.

1 John 3:2 and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

I have this hope in me because God’s word has said it and Gods word is eternal.

Justification by Faith

When we receive the seed in our hearts we are forgiven. We don’t have to bear the guilt. We can be happy and free from the burden of sin. Why?

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

If you are a big sinner Jesus is your big friend. Praise God. If you are a little sinner then he is only perhaps a face book friend. But if you are really a sinner he is your soul mate. Not only will he forgive our sins but will also cleanse us. He is faithful and just. He is just and the justifier. He forgives sins without being unjust. In a court of law if you have done something wrong and someone says you don’t have to suffer for it. Is that just? No. Justification by faith is the only way to be just because he will forgive. Forgive means to give-for. That is what forgiveness is. If we give our sins to Jesus he will give for those sins. He will give you something for those sins. If you don’t want to take what he gives you he will not take your sins. What is he going to give for your sins? He is going to give you faith and a nature that will change you so you never do it again. That is what he is giving you. While ever that seed is not planted it cannot grow. Yet God sees in that seed the thing that is written in it. Some people see Jesus as just standing in heaven as a blockage so the wrath of God doesn’t nail us. Is that just? Is it just to protect someone who deserved to be killed? No, it is not forgiveness. Forgiveness is where he gives the seed for your sins. Therefore if you do not want God’s law including the Sabbath (I say that because they forget the only commandment that God says remember), a person will do the exact opposite to what their enemy tells them. God gives the law in human genetic code for your sins and then it will make you become righteous in real terms.

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

In other words if you don’t receive Jesus righteousness in practical living data for your life to change then you can’t be forgiven. If you have the opinion you will sin to the day Jesus comes you can’t be forgiven because that is denying the promise of God that he would purify and teach us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world (Titus 2:12). If you have that opinion then you don’t believe and the concept of believing and you are forgiven falls to its knees because it doesn’t work. You must first try to obey and as you find you can’t obey then you will be so happy to receive his righteousness to be played out and manifested in your practical life.

Romans 3:27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Is the genetic code in the seed a law? That law justifies you not the Ten Commandments as they condemn you. But once you have faith that law must be allowed to manifest itself. That is justification by faith.

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. 29 [Is he] the God of the Jews only? [is he] not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: 30 Seeing [it is] one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

God will only forgive those whom he can establish his law. That is just because for what he has taken he died on the cross.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

When God looks at you when you have faith and justification and have received God’s word in it’s entirely don’t take his words out. Don’t do any genetic modification on God’s word. Genetically modified things are not good for us so don’t do it. When God looks at you when you have received it in its entirely willing to take every word as it comes to you without doubting then you have that seed inside of you. It hasn’t all come to fruition yet but when God sees you what does he see?

Psalms 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee,

God can see the substance in you as a fact and a reality even though it is so small.

Psalms 139:15 …when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.

Has a justified person conquered every sin? No they are still imperfect but all their members are written in heaven while there was none of them. When you believe the whole word of God, He writes your name to all the features that are contained in that substance. It is perfect because Jesus Christ was the spotless lamb of God and he gave that seed to us. God can see the data in the seed of faith and it is as good as being done. Therefore you are perfect in heaven. Yet you are not perfect here because the germination hasn’t penetrated in every aspect of your life. When those things are written in heaven then we can pray ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, let that perfect information in heaven be done in my life that I can’t do it but you can’. This is the gospel. Don’t trust yourself, trust God’s word.

Amen.
