7. The Consummation

Daniel 11

By John Thiel, Daniel 11 Series, Study 7, mp3

The conclusion of the Daniel 11 prophecy is cited in the following scripture.

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolator [margin].

We have been studying the activities of the desolators, and at the end of all the desolations that have happened we come to the consummation. “Even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolator.” God has an objective in His whole plan for this world and in the revelation of this prophecy; He is aiming to one end.

Isaiah 45:15 Verily thou [art] a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

He is working behind the scenes; He hides Himself.

Isaiah 45:16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together [that are] makers of idols. 17 [But] Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end. 18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else. 19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

God has the objective before Him to develop a world without end. And as He develops that in this world of confusion, sin and political upheaval, He says, Those of you who pay heed to Me will not be confounded; you will not be thrown into chaos.

Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

What God has said is going to happen in the future is sure to happen. The important issue is to actually realise that what He has said for our time we need to understand by what He has said in the past.

Isaiah 45:5 I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

Those who had not known God, He already had them in view, like Cyrus. Why?

Isaiah 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that [there is] none beside me. I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else. 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].

We have clearly seen these realities throughout our study of Daniel 11 – the detailed history from Persia through to the Arab states. We have observed that God is interacting with human beings by letting them exercise their free choices, to lead them to His final objective. However, as He gives them the opportunities to make those choices, He has already prearranged and written down His final objective so that those who choose God and salvation can be comforted in the amazing security that is found in the prophecies that He has written out in such detail. That is what makes Daniel 11 of such interest. The people that respect and revere God can see life actually laid out before them before it has ever happened, and they gain a tremendous confidence that they can really depend on God.

1 Corinthians 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; 5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and [in] all knowledge;

Here is a security. We have been enriched by Him in knowledge – the knowledge of the fact that He has it all mapped out beforehand and has revealed it to us.

1 Corinthians 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, [that ye may be] blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God has given us the Spirit of Prophecy, the testimony of Jesus, in the prophecy that we have been studying; what for? So that, as we see all the details He has mapped out in the affairs of the human race, we can be confirmed and can harmonise with His expectations, so that we will be blameless when the consummation takes place, in the day of His coming. Here is now the consummation that we are looking at. Jesus said:

John 13:19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am [he].

Matthew 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.

We now come in this prophecy to our days where we can see Jesus with our bare eyes. We today can see Him in activity before we actually see Him physically, because we are looking at a prophecy that reveals the hiding of Himself behind the scenes. Those who are studying the prophecy can see Him with the eyes of faith in the events that are happening around them. In our last study we came to a conclusion and saw the Arab states – Turkey – the king of the north fighting against France. France needed to be desolated because it was desolating the one before him, which was the pope, and was announcing an atheistic affront to God.

So Turkey comes along and does its work. But then the detail of the Ottoman Empire also coming to its end is identified in Daniel 11:45 and Daniel 12:1. Remember that this is still the same vision. This is here talking about the king of the north, which was the last government living in the territory of Asia Minor – Turkey:

He Shall Come to His End

Daniel 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

The Arab world has done precisely that. They built their tabernacles and mosques in Jerusalem, between the seas, in the glorious holy mountain. The whole issue of the Ottoman Empire taking over the Middle East is a vivid reality before us. But it is important to understand that, although the Muslims have long looked upon Jerusalem as their own land, the words, “He shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain,” specifically refer to an event yet future. The prophecy tells us that the king of the north, Turkey, will leave Europe and set up the headquarters of its newly revived Caliphate in Jerusalem. However it is also written that very shortly after that he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

This is important for us to understand. This is the consummation. As we saw previously, Revelation 9:13-15 makes reference to the 6th trumpet and gives the description of the Ottoman Empire.

Revelation 9:13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. 16 And the number of the army of the horsemen [were] two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

This was the arousing of the Arab world to become an empire from 1449 to its conclusion in 1840. This time prophecy gives us the 391 years and 15 days of the predominance of the Arab world as the Ottoman Empire. It was directly according to this time prophecy that on the 11th of August 1840 the Ottoman Empire began to depend upon other nations for support. It was no longer an empire that had full control over itself. As we have seen, he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. We already see that the Ottoman Empire is no longer as powerful as it had once been. They still would like to regain their power, but no, the time is coming when the empire will totally come to its end. The description of his end is given in Revelation 16:12-16. This is talking about the plagues, the consummation.

The Plagues

Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates;

In the sixth trumpet we read, Loose the four angels (the sultanies) which are bound in the great river Euphrates. The river Euphrates runs right through the Arab states. This is what the prophecy is pointing at.

Revelation 16:12 …and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, [which] go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

This is politics. Now comes the consummation. They are going to be gathered, and the river Euphrates is dried up so that they can be gathered to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

According to Daniel 11:45 the drying up of the river Euphrates, which is the drying up of the power of the Ottoman Empire, is recorded as “he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.” This then opens up Daniel 12:1 where Michael stands up. This passage of Daniel 11:45 is explained in the scriptures we just read: Revelation 9:13-15 and Revelation 16:12-16. These three passages are linked. Observe now more detail of the drying up, the fall and how none shall help him, that is, the king of the north – the Arab states.

Kedar

Isaiah 21:16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

Here is a time prophecy that has to do with a literal year, not a prophetic year. It says,Within a year, according to the years of an hireling.” “All the glory of Kedar shall fail.” Who is Kedar?

Genesis 25:13 And these [are] the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

Who was Kedar? He was the Arabs who came from Ishmael. The Arabs came from Ishmael. Kedar is specifically mentioned; we are told that he is going to come to his end and that no one shall help him. All his glory will be taken away within a year. It is interesting to connect Kedar, the Arab world, with Turkey. Kedar and Mesech are connected. If you look at a map of the ancient world, Mesech was where modern Turkey is. These two powers have always been a trouble spot for the Jews.

Psalms 120:5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, [that] I dwell in the tents of Kedar! 6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. 7 I [am for] peace: but when I speak, they [are] for war.

Is this not the problem all the way through? and it is still in existence today. Ever since Ishmael came into contact with his younger brother Isaac, there have been problems. The world problems of today are very much the Middle East conflicts. Here are Kedar and Mesech, the Arab world and Turkey. As it says, Within one year all the glory will be taken away. It is this conflict that Jesus utilises in His work with Gabriel. Notice how Jesus brings this out in His conversation with the apostles.

The Fig Tree

Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Remember the words of Isaiah? “What I have said beforehand, My counsels, will take their course. My words will not pass away.” He says that the generation that sees all these things, that sees the fig tree putting forth its leaves, shall not pass away. Follow very carefully what Jesus was talking about. What does Jesus say about this fig tree?

Luke 13:1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Here was this terrible catastrophe; certain of the Galileans had been wiped out. But He says, No, this was just a warning that if you don’t repent, you will end up the same way.

Luke 13:4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

These serious words we know were so true, because the armies of Titus came and did just that.

Luke 13:6 He spake also this parable; A certain [man] had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung [it]: 9 And if it bear fruit, [well]: and if not, [then] after that thou shalt cut it down.

Jesus gave a parable of the fig tree. What was He talking about? He was talking about the Jewish nation. He was going to give them that last opportunity and if they would not bear fruit to God’s glory, what would He do? He would cut the fig tree down. The fig tree. What did He say in Matthew 24? “Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When it begins to shoot, you know that summer is nigh.” This fig tree concept is a declaration concerning the Jewish nation, and the generation that sees the Jewish nation shooting again is the generation that shall not pass. In Daniel 11 we see the events of God’s orchestration coming right up to the time of our generation, because the Arab world today is relating to the fig tree. In 1948, the fig tree shot again. It didn’t exist before, it had been cut down. But in 1948 it came and started shooting again.

Daniel 9:26-27 talks about the consummation in which the Jews, who had had their city destroyed, would also finally be consumed. He said to them, It will be worse for you than for those of Sodom and Gomorrah, and of Tyre and Sidon. In the last days of final desolation, all the nations that had been desolating each other through the millennia are going to come to their final consummation, their final desolation. In the following scripture we notice that the nations that had been world empires and were desolated, would continue to exist as nations until their final consummation.

Daniel 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

What do we see here? He beheld the beast, the one which had the horn that spoke great words – the papacy – and he saw that this beast continued until finally it would be destroyed and given to the burning flame. And the rest of the beasts, all the empires before the papacy, had their dominion taken away, however their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. The nations that used to be empires, exist today, but not as empires anymore. They exist today as nations safeguarded for the final consummation, together with the stout horn – the papacy.

This final consummation is exactly what is written in Isaiah 63:1-6. There the sufferings of Jesus in Gethsemane are connected with His treading of the winepress because these nations have rejected His wonderful offer to help them in the right direction. They have rejected His offer and they will be destroying each other.

The Final Consummation of all these Nations

All the nations that have been safeguarded for all those years will reach their final consummation.

Jeremiah 25:12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, [that] I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

There are the perpetual desolations. The desolation of the Babylonian nation. Perpetual desolations, continual battles.

Jeremiah 25:13 And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, [even] all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations. 14 For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.

Their own desolating hatred for other nations, their works of corruption – they will be all recompensed according to their deeds, according to the works of their own hands.

The Winepress

Jeremiah 25:15 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.

This is Isaiah 63:1-6 – the winepress of His wrath. He is going to tread them in His wrath. “Cause all the nations to whom I send you to drink of the wine cup of My fury.”

Jeremiah 25:16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. 17 Then took I the cup at the LORD’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me:

Notice who these nations are:

Jeremiah 25:18 [To wit], Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as [it is] this day;

The final consummation includes Jerusalem and the cities of Judah again. Israel has received Jerusalem again for a purpose, so that they can be desolated with all the others.

Jeremiah 25:19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

Then He goes right through all the nations of the earth through to verse 26.

Jeremiah 25:28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink. 29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.

Can you hear the echoing words of Jesus? “Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Capernaum! It is going to be worse for you than for Sodom and Gomorrah.” The city of God is going to be desolated, but don’t forget, He says, that all you other desolators are also going be desolated. “Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth. All the inhabitants of the earth, including Israel.

Jeremiah 25:30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread [the grapes], against all the inhabitants of the earth.

Remember Jesus treading the winepress.

Jeremiah 25:31 A noise shall come [even] to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them [that are] wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.

Everything we studied about the battles and the political arena is going to culminate in the consummation.

Jeremiah 25:32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. 33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from [one] end of the earth even unto the [other] end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

Here is the description of the consummation: a whirlwind that is going to be a warfare. We often use this scripture to prove that winds represents warfare, and that is precisely what will happen. The warfare that has been going on from generation to generation will finally consummate at this time when He will cause all the nations to be trodden under foot.

Jesus, Michael the Archangel, who has been orchestrating all this time with Gabriel, now comes behind the scenes:

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

A vesture dipped in blood? Isaiah 63. Jesus is asked, Why is your garment red with blood? He answers, I have fought the battle alone, and now I am going to avenge Myself. The garment of sacrifice is now a garment dipped in the blood of the conflict.

The Blood of Conflict

Revelation 19:14 And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. 17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all [men, both] free and bond, both small and great.

Here is the description of Jesus doing exactly what He did all the way through, as Michael the Archangel with Gabriel. He was running one desolator past the other. They are now all together at the consummation and He is coming down and doing the same thing again, leading them to destroy each other. Who are they?

Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

These are the nations that have always been resisting Him.

Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which [sword] proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

To bring all these nations to such a consummation in the same manner as revealed in Daniel 11, we would expect a revival of the very nations that had been working in the past. And indeed, the lives of the nations that used to be empires were extended so that now they can all be brought back together. Here is the direct description of how these nations are going to become involved again.

Joel 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I [am] strong. 11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

Do you understand what this is saying? They are all to be gathered together and there comes the mighty ones, Jesus on horseback with His angels. “Thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord.

Joel 3:12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. 13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness [is] great. 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD [is] near in the valley of decision.

Here is the description of all the weak nations who before were unaccounted for because they were so small. But now they say, We will become strong, we will become armies that will fight; and they will involve themselves in world affairs. That is what the nations are going to do. Are we not seeing just that? The little nations that were just colonies at one stage are now becoming warlike nations. There is another account of this in Ezekiel.

Israel to be Revitalised

Ezekiel 38:8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land [that is] brought back from the sword, [and is] gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

Here is a statement saying that Israel that has been lying waste will again be revitalised – the mountains of Israel.

Ezekiel 38:18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, [that] my fury shall come up in my face. … 21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother. 22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that [are] with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.

You can read many scriptures that point to this consummation. It says, Let the weak say, I am strong. Israel had become a non-entity of a nation. Now it is strong. Since 1948 all the little, insignificant colonies have become nations. Look at India, at the nations of South Africa, every one of them were just colonies. But now they have become nations that are growing strong and developing their arsenal. What did Jesus say about the summer and the fig tree? Summer identifies harvest time and the treading of the winepress.

Luke 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

What are we reading here? Let the little nations say, We are strong. Let the trees shoot. Did you know that in Ezekiel 31 trees are nations? We have already identified that the fig tree is representative of the Jewish nation, but look at the other trees:

The Other Nations

Ezekiel 31:3 Behold, the Assyrian [was] a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.

The Assyrian was a tree – a cedar.

Ezekiel 31:5 Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. … 13 Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches: 14 To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.

The trees that shoot, the fig tree and all the other trees, are here. They are nations that are showing that summer is near and that the harvest is about to take place. These trees then are nations, including the nation of Israel. Before these trees are destroyed, a whirlwind shall come. What is written about the whirlwind and the trees?

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Remember the whirlwind that is going to destroy the nations? The angels are holding the wind that comes from all four corners – the whirlwind.

Revelation 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

The trees are the nations, the ruling powers. The seas are the multitudes. And the winds are wars. The angels are told to hold the winds, Don’t let them loose so that God’s people can be sealed. God’s people must know what is happening around them by beholding Jesus working behind the scenes. The nations are eager for conflict but they are being held because God’s people must be protected and confirmed. In the time frame of Daniel 11:45 the whirlwind is going to be let loose. Ever since 1948 there has been this development of the consummation where all the nations are gathering their powers. They are all poised in a worldwide interest in fighting together according to their common interest. They all contribute to the different wars. Jesus makes reference to all this:

Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

The generation that sees the fig tree and all the other trees shooting, shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled. The generation that was there in 1948 shall not pass. [For the definition of a generation, see Psalm 22:30].

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. … 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Watch

Study those prophecies. Identify the correct appreciation of those prophecies, and as you do, you will not be caught by surprise. What will Michael do, and what has He been doing all this time? In Daniel 10:21 He was working with Gabriel. In Daniel 9:25, He, Messiah the Prince, was doing His work. In Jude 1:9, He was contending for the body of Moses. In Revelation 8:3-5, He is there as the Angel of the covenant.

Who is this angel that is there doing this work? We have established this. He is Messiah the Prince, Michael your Prince, Michael the Archangel, the angel with the censer. What is Messiah doing? He is orchestrating the events of the world. He is doing His work in the heavenly sanctuary. He is answering the prayers of the people, bringing them up before the Father. He is the only man who stands between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5).

When this angel casts down His censer, what happens? When we read Daniel 12 we know that He will stand up, and then there will be this terrible time of trouble.

Revelation 8:5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Haven’t they been doing destroying the earth all this time?

Revelation 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

That’s what happens when He throws down the censer (Dan. 12:1). He finishes His work, He stands up, and now comes this great time of trouble, which is the lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. You can read about it in the closing of the plagues, the hour of God’s wrath.

Is the vision of Daniel 11 easy to understand? Has it been a difficult task to follow me through this series? Many people find it very awkward. Why? Because it requires spiritual fortitude to go through subjects like this with great attention to understand. But what is written in Daniel 12:9-13? How important it is that we understand this so that we will not become undone at the end?

Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The wise will understand.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13 But go thou thy way till the end [be]: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Here we see an important thing in our study that we need to understand. We need to be the wise who understand this vision. This is what this vision is concluding with: “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. The wise – the wise that will understand the daily, that will understand that the daily was taken away and the abomination that maketh desolate set up. The wise will understand that. Many people say, What does it mean that the daily will be taken away and the abomination that maketh desolate set up? They don’t understand. This is poorly taught today. There would be 1290 days, and then it says, Blessed is he that understands these things and waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. What does this mean? The barbaric tribes, the last being led by Clovis, would finally succumb to the papacy in 508 A.D, and would then no longer resist. Clovis was the last of the European kings to finally give in to the pope. Now the pope could be set up. From 508, from the time that the daily (the pagan side of the Roman Empire) would be taken away and the papacy would be introduced, we add 1290 days – 1290 years. This takes us to 1798. The people who come to that, who understand the time of the end, blessed are they. Then comes the next statement, “Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.” If you add 1335 days to 508, you get 1843 – that was just one year before 1844. Blessed are the people who come to that date, because they will understand what Jesus is doing in the most holy place, that is, if they are watching Him, if they are studying the prophecies as we have been. Since 1844 Jesus has changed His position in the heavenly sanctuary, and at that time the three angels of Revelation 14 were being proclaimed. And the time of the first angel’s message was when the book of Daniel was opened. If they had studied this they would have understood.

Revelation 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and [his] left [foot] on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as [when] a lion roareth: … 8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go [and] take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take [it], and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. 11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

What book is this? The book of Daniel was to be closed until the time of the end (Dan. 12:4). The people who were part of the three angels’ message realized this, and they who were wise understood. Are we wise? Do we understand this prophetic line-up to the consummation? Jesus made direct mention of the wise who do understand and the foolish who do not. In Matthew 24:45-51 He speaks about the wise servant who gives meat in due season – the right information at the right time – and the wicked servant who says in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming, and begins to eat and drink with the drunken. When Jesus comes that servant will be taken unawares. Then in Matthew 25 Jesus speaks about the ten virgins – the five wise and the five foolish. The five foolish, who included the wicked servant, are shut out at the consummation. Why were the angels holding back the winds of strife? Because there were still people who needed to be sealed, who needed to understand what was going on. But ultimately, when the winds are let loose, the wicked servant and the foolish virgins will be shut out. Blessed are those who come to the 1335 days; blessed are those who understand these prophecies of Daniel 11 and 12. The work and the labour of studying this subject is what Jesus was referring to in Matthew 24 and 25. There is also something special written about the third angel people in Revelation 14.

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

These wise virgins, the wise and faithful servant, these are the people who are blessed and who may have died ever since 1844; but what they have been studying out and what they have been doing to be part of Christ and His work, will save them. They will be wise servants, they will understand. Blessed are they that die in the Lord since that time. What will happen to them?

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

What was the work of these people? They were trying to get themselves ready so that they could be part of those who see Jesus coming. There is a resurrection of them. They are blessed that they have come to 1843 and continued thereafter with the patience of the saints. The people who put in the hard work of studying these prophecies and being in harmony with them, are an honoured people. If they have died in the process, yet they are blessed and they will be raised to meet what they have been laboring and waiting for.

God has an object in view in giving us these prophecies – to gain His will for us without interfering with our choices. He works with our choices. He has worked with the choices of people for millennia. We now live in the demonstration of how He has worked with them, and He says, I am coming to the end, I am now consuming; and it is our choice today whether we will be confirmed in these prophecies, in the testimony of Christ. It is my prayer that we will recognize how important this prophecy is and that we will participate in the work of Jesus in these last moments of earth’s history. May God add His rich blessings to what we have been studying, and may we understand our position in this time of the consummation.

Amen.
