Will There Be Mass Martyrdoms Before the Close of Probation?

Doctrines are being taught that there will be mass martyrdom’s many Adventists just before the close of probation to leave a small number, namely 144,000 at the close of probation. Bible history shows in its always a small remnant that stands up for truth in times of crisis whilst the majority apostatise. The majority will  join the ranks of the opposition and not be put to death.

Soon God’s people will be tested by fiery trials, and the GREAT proportion of those who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal. Instead of being strengthened and confirmed by opposition, threats, and abuse, they will cowardly take the side of the opposers. {5T 136.1}.

There will be some martyrdoms. These occurred in the First and Second World Wars also know as the “little time of trouble“.

In this little time of trouble do we expect there will be martyrs still at this time?

The two armies will stand distinct and separate, and this distinction will be so marked that many who shall be convinced of truth will come on the side of God’s commandment-keeping people. When this grand work is to take place in the battle, prior to the last closing conflict, many will be imprisoned, many will flee for their lives from cities and towns, and many will be martyrs for Christ’s sake in standing in defense of the truth. Maranatha 199.2

This was seen largely in the first and second world war of many Adventists put to death for standing up for the fourth and sixth commandments. After the First and Second World War behind the Iron Curtain in the countries of communism that’s exactly what continued to happen. There were people who were dying as martyrs for Christ. That will continue to be the case until the close of probation. When the time of the plagues comes then there will be no more martyrs. It’s the little time beforehand that there will be martyrs.

In this time of persecution the faith of the Lord’s servants will be tried. They have faithfully given the warning, looking to God and to His word alone. God’s Spirit, moving upon their hearts, has constrained them to speak. Stimulated with holy zeal, and with the divine impulse strong upon them, they entered upon the performance of their duties without coldly calculating the consequences of speaking to the people the word which the Lord had given them. They have not consulted their temporal interests, nor sought to preserve their reputation or their lives. GC 608

…as we went forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully. This enraged the churches and nominal Adventists, as they could not refute the Sabbath truth. And at this time God’s chosen all saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured the persecution with us. I saw the sword, famine, pestilence, and great confusion in the land. EW 33

THE MAJORITY WILL SWAP SIDES

The opposition which Christ received came from his own nation, who would have been greatly blessed had they accepted him. In like manner the remnant church receive opposition from those who profess to be their brethren. {RH, August 28, 1883 par. 13}

MOST PEOPLE ARE GOING TO JUMP SHIP!

Divisions will come in the church. Two parties will be developed. The wheat and tares grow up together for the harvest. The work will grow deeper and become more earnest to the very close of time. And all who are laborers together with God will contend most earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints. They will not be turned from the present message, which is already lightening the earth with its glory. 2SM 114

As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel’s message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition. By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. GC 608

As trials thicken around us, both separation and unity will be seen in our ranks…Those who have had great light and precious privileges, but have not improved them, will, under one pretext or another, go out from us. Not having received the love of the truth, they will be taken in the delusions of the enemy; they will give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and will depart from the faith. 6T 400

Soon God’s people will be tested by fiery trials, and the great proportion of those who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal. Instead of being strengthened and confirmed by opposition, threats, and abuse, they will cowardly take the side of the opposers. 5T 136

First it’s within the church and then they will cowardly take the side of the opposers.

To stand in defense of truth and righteousness when the majority forsake us, to fight the battles of the Lord when champions are few–this will be our test. 5T 136

Those who tremble at God’s Word and stand true to the message will be regarded as something that has to be taken out of the church. They will say let the Lord be glorified (Isaiah 66:5).

Many will stand in our pulpits with the torch of false prophecy in their hands, kindled from the hellish torch of Satan. If doubts and unbelief are cherished, the faithful ministers will be removed from the people who think they know so much. TM 410

Faithful ministers will be removed as per Isaiah 66:5. It is the sons and daughters and the common people that are going to be ministering. They will be pushed out (Isaiah 66:5).

That is how it happens within the church but it doesn’t stop there because it says they will take the side of the opposers. Not only are they smiting with the tongue, but they take side with the opposers who themselves are being agitated in the false churches.

The time will come when those who love God supremely can no longer remain in connection with such as are “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.” {GC88 390.1}

We have a testing message to give, and I am instructed to say to our people, Unify, unify. But we are not to unify with those who are departing from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. With our hearts sweet and kind and true, we are to go forth to proclaim the message, giving no heed to those who lead away from the truth. {RH, April 19, 1906 par. 23}

I saw a company who stood well guarded and firm, giving no countenance to those who would unsettle the established faith of the body. God looked upon them with approbation. I was shown three steps—the first, second, and third angels’ messages. Said my accompanying angel, Woe to him who shall move a block or stir a pin of these messages. The true understanding of these messages is of vital importance. The destiny of souls hangs upon the manner in which they are received. EW 258.

I have been shown that many who profess to have a knowledge of present truth know not what they believe. They do not understand the evidences of their faith. They have no just appreciation of the work for the present time. When the time of trial shall come, there are men now preaching to others who will find, upon examining the positions they hold, that there are many things for which they can give no satisfactory reason. Until thus tested they knew not their great ignorance. And there are many in the church who take it for granted that they understand what they believe; but, until controversy arises, they do not know their own weakness. When separated from those of like faith and compelled to stand singly and alone to explain their belief, they will be surprised to see how confused are their ideas of what they had accepted as truth. Certain it is that there has been among us a departure from the living God and a turning to men, putting human in place of divine wisdom. {5T 707.2}

The shaking of God blows away multitudes like dry leaves. Prosperity multiplies a mass of professors. Adversity purges them out of the church. As a class, their spirits are not steadfast with God. They go out from us because they are not of us; for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, many are offended. {4T 89.2}

Many will stand in our pulpits with the torch of false prophecy in their hands, kindled from the hellish torch of Satan. If doubts and unbelief are cherished, the faithful ministers will be removed from the people who think they know so much. TM 410.

Doctrines are being taught that lead into bypaths and forbidden paths; doctrines that lead men to act in harmony with their own inclinations and to work out their unsanctified purposes; doctrines that, if received, would destroy the dignity and power of God’s people, obscuring the light that would otherwise come to them through God’s appointed agencies. {8T 231.2}

Isaiah 8:13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and [let] him [be] your fear, and [let] him [be] your dread. 14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. 16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

In this scripture both houses of Israel in those times Israel had been split into two just as we read there were divisions. Jesus is a stumbling block to both houses of Israel but among his disciples the true law is identified. Ellen White refers to this scripture;

Here are plainly represented two distinct parties, formed from a company that was once united. The members of one of these parties are in resistance to the will of God. They have taken themselves from the side of the loyal and true, and are now resisting the warnings of the Spirit of God. To the obedient the Lord will be “for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.” {RH, July 18, 1907 par. 7}

Soon God’s people will be tested by fiery trials, and the GREAT proportion of those who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal. Instead of being strengthened and confirmed by opposition, threats, and abuse, they will cowardly take the side of the opposers. {5T 136.1}

Ezekiel has a vision given of what he was to do. Does God know the amount of hairs on your head? Is he acquainted of every particle on this earth? Indeed he is.

Ezekiel 5:1 And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber’s razor, and cause [it] to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the [hair].

He has taken all his hair off and divided into sections.

Ezekiel 5:2 Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, [and] smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.

How much of the hair is gone? Three parts of three. One was burn, one taken by the sword and one was thrown in the wind.

Ezekiel 5:3 Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.

Just take a few hairs, just a few.

Ezekiel 5:4 Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; [for] thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
5:5 Thus saith the Lord GOD; This [is] Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries [that are] round about her.

There were a few he was to take out and put in the fire for a different purpose than the others. They were to be purged and refined. All of this planet shall go through fire and some shall be saved through the fire. There was a few to be taken and this is Jerusalem.

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

The Exaltation of the Saints. — From the devil in his gloomy confinement, John now directs our attention to the saints in victory and glory, — the saints reigning with Christ — their employment being to assign to the wicked dead the punishment due their evil deeds.

From that general assembly John then selects two classes as worthy of especial attention: first, the martyrs, those who had been beheaded for the witness of Jesus; and secondly, those who had not worshiped the beast and his image. This class, the ones who refuse the mark of the beast and his image, are of course the ones who hear and obey the third message of Revelation 14; but these are not the ones who are beheaded for the witness of Jesus, as some who claim that the last generation of saints are all to be slain, would have us believe. The word rendered which, in the expression, “and which had not worshiped the beast,” etc., shows that there is another class introduced. The word is the compound relative, [hostis], not merely the simple relative, and is defined by Liddell and Scott, “Whosoever; whichsoever; any one who; anything which;” and by Robinson, “One who; some one who; whosoever; whatsoever.” As one class, John saw the martyrs, and as another, he saw those who had not worshiped the beast and his image. p. 692, Para. 2.

Lest any one should say that if we render the passage “and whosoever had not worshiped the beast,” we thereby include millions of heathen and sinners who have not worshiped the beast, and promise them a reign with Christ of a thousand years, we would call attention to the fact that the preceding chapter states that the wicked had all been slain, and the seal of death had been set upon them for a thousand years; and John is viewing only the righteous company who have part in the first resurrection. p. 693, Para. 2.

To avoid the doctrine of two resurrections, some claim that the passage, “But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished,” is an interpolation, not found in the original, and hence not genuine. Even if this were so, it would not disprove the main proposition that the righteous dead are raised by themselves, in a “first resurrection,” and that there is a second resurrection a thousand years later, in which all the wicked are brought from their graves. But the criticism is not true. All scholarship is against it. The Revised Version retains the passage. p. 693, Para. 3. Daniel and the Revelation – Uriah Smith

    Br. Michael from where do you get the understanding that the ‘The 490 years and 457 BC are a totally different prophecy. Adventist think all the number prophecies begin at 457 BC.’

    Be frank with yourself. Is this statement of yours true? For the almost 20years in adventism, were you thought that all prophecies begin in 457? Certainly not because I am an adventist and know the prophetic teaching of the movement.

    The reason why the 2300 days are counted starting from 457 is because in Dan 9:24 the angel explains to Daniel that:

    24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

    25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

    26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

    27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

    According to Strong’s Concordance, the word ‘determined’ (Chathak; Strong’s Number: 02852) in verse 24 is different from ‘determined’ (Charats; Strong’s Number: 02782) verse 26, and 27. Chathak is used only once in the Bible and only here while Charats is used 12 times in the Bible.

    Chathak means to: divide, be marked out

    Charats means to: decreed, to be decisive

    Now from where did the 70 weeks of Dan 9:24 being divided or marked out. Remember that this angel is the same angel that was sent to Daniel in Dan 8: 16, being Gabriel. Hence Gabriel and Daniel in Dan 9 are not new to each other. They already had talked in Chapter 8 in the previous vision which contains the 2300 days. Thus Gabriel comes to tell Daniel that part of prophecy relating to the children of Israel before their covenant ends or the Messiah is comed.

    Remember he said ‘Seventy weeks are determined (Chathak or divided or marked out)’ Now the question is from where were these 70 week or 490 days cut out.? Read the beginning of Dan 9, Daniel was praying for his people. So the angel came in Vs 21-23 to inform him and give him understanding. This is because Daniel was not understanding certain things in the previous vision.

    The only answer is that the 70 weeks were cut from the 2300days. If not then the word determined (divided or marked out) was misapplied by the angel which I strongly it is not so.

    It is therefore clear that both the 2300 days and the 490days or 70weeks started from the same point.

    Think about this Michael. God bless you. We still love you.

    About the 1290 and the 1335 contact me on +256 777 328583 I will be glad to share with you the remnant understanding of these prophecy.

    First Passover after the battle at Granicus in 334 BC is in 333 BC + 2300 Passovers is exactly Passover of 1967. Do you know what happened in 1967? If not, ask your church why you don’t know this. DIG for yourself

  • Reply MichaelCooper - 29/05/2010

    Again I ask you, if you are the remnant, what do the 1290 and 1335 mean in Daniel 12? I was an adventist for almost 20 years and one thing I believe is that the truth is way more sacred than saving face. Protecting your religion at the expense of the truth will cause wailing and gnashing of teeth.

    1844 is wrong and it is written in Revelation 10. Miller’s movement was prophesied in that chapter. Miller said “There shall be time no longer” did he not?

    Alexander the Great’s defeat of Darius III at the river Granicus is the starting point of the 2300 years. Do you think the Angel is just killing time when at the beginning of Daniel 8 describes exactly that battle?

    The 490 years and 457 BC are a totally different prophecy. Adventist think all the number prophecies begin at 457 BC. If this is the case, then explain what the 5 months in Revelation 9 means. You can’t, and neither can adventists at the top.

    You would think the “remnant” would have answers to these prophecies would you not? SDA is just like every other historical religion. It started out with good intentions and transformed into a pagan club people can join.

    Did you know that Zeus’ wife colored eggs with the blood of slaughtered infants? What is the mark of the beast? Just the sabbath law? There are 9 other commandments that you cannot keep. Promote one commandment you’d better be able to keep every square inch of the whole law.

    Put down the rocks in your hands or there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. “I would have mercy and not sacrifice.”

    If you don’t understand the story of the centurion in Matthew 8, then the true gospel has not yet even entered into your ears.

    Here is the mind who has understanding:

    John 17:2 (King James Version)

    2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

    A challenge – Try and cross the Red sea below and let me know if you survive.

    1 John 3:8-9 (King James Version)

    8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

    9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

    Matthew 24:40 – Two in the field is you, not two different people.
    They have been asleep for 150 years all the while throwing stones at the harlot. But what did Jesus say about those who wanted to stone her? I need not tell you.
