Christ will appear the second time.
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Christ promised to come again.
John 14:2,3 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
The angels promised Christ would come again in a like manner that they seen him go into heaven, that is, visibly in a cloud.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
The apostles promised Christ would appear again.
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Christ mingled the description of the destruction of Jerusalem with the day of his coming leaving the disciples to study out the meaning.
Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
What is the great tribulation? The great tribulation is the 1260 years of Papal persecution which was shortened by the Protestant Reformation.
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
After the days of tribulation these signs followed: the dark day of 1780, the falling of the stars in 1833. The powers of heaven (sun, moon and stars) are yet to be shaken.
Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Hebrews 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
After the powers of heaven are shaken the Son of man will appear how? He will appear in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Luke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
How many angels come with the Son of man? All the angels will come with him.
Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory.
Why is there silence in heaven half an hour? There is silence because Christ has come with all his angels. Half an hour in prophetic time is seven and a half literal days during which the Second Coming takes place and the redeemed host travel back to heaven.
Revelation 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
What will the angels do at the Second Coming? The angels will go forth at the trumpet sound to gather the elect from the earth.
Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
What happens at the sounding of the last trumpet? The dead in Christ are raised and the living righteous are changed in a moment.
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
When are those who sleep in Christ made alive? At his coming.
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
Christ descends, his voice calls the dead to life and afterward the living righteous join them in the clouds.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
What did Christ say to Caiaphas the high priest? Christ said that he would witness the Second Coming.
Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
If the wicked are raised after the 1,000 years (Revelation 20:5) and the righteous are raised at the coming of Christ;
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
How is it that Caiaphas will see the Second Coming? There is a special resurrection distinct from the resurrection of the just and unjust.
Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
This is a mixed resurrection where some righteous some wicked are specially raised.
Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Those who receive the third angel’s message that die in the Lord will be specially raised to witness the Second Coming in full. Their works follow them because they are the ones who proclaimed the Second Coming.
Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Those who put Jesus to death including the Roman soldiers, Pilate, Herod and Caiaphas are raised specially to see Jesus come in the clouds of glory.
Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Every eye will see Jesus come. This means that everyone then alive on the earth will be fully aware of his coming. And all peoples will wail and mourn when they see him coming.
Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Those who are specially raised that put Jesus to death mourn bitterly.
Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Too late they will confess Jesus is Lord.
Matthew 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
When Christ comes in his glory, it is a consuming glory, burning up all the wicked.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
The coming Christ is spoken of in the Psalms.
Psalms 50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. 4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. 5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. 6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
The Rapture Error
In the days of Noah who was taken away and who was left? The wicked were taken and Noah and his family left. So at the coming of the Son of man who will be taken? The wicked are taken. They are the ones eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage upon which sudden destruction will come.
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
In the parallel passage of Luke the plural, days, is used, showing that the days of the Son of man is a period of time. Also, there can be no just comparison between the days of Noah, and the very act of Christ’s Second Coming. Hence, this is not what is intended. But there can be a comparison between the days of Noah, the days that preceded the flood, and the days that immediately precede the coming of the Son of man.
Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
The day of the Lord is more than a literal day in duration. It commences with the judgments that fall upon the earth, a short period before the appearing of the Son of man in the clouds of heaven. The day of the Lord comes in the form of sudden destruction and spoiling. It comes as a thief in the night not to those who are righteous but to those who are wicked.
Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
Shortly before his coming Christ begins reigning in the kingdom of glory. It is then that sudden destruction comes upon the nations. Jesus will stand up and take his kingdom.
To Stand Up Means To Reign In a Kingdom
Daniel 11:2 And now will I show thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than [they] all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia. 3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. 4 And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.
Daniel 11:20 Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes [in] the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. 21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
Daniel 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom . . . . [and] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms . . . .
Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time.
When Christ receives the kingdom of glory he will then rule the nations with a rod of iron smashing them to pieces.
Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
Psalms 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
How bad will the destruction be? The nations were angry in World War I and II however we would expect God’s wrath to exceed this. Thus the whole world must be involved in general engagement.
Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come . . . .
Christ comes as a thief to those who are unready for the last great battle, Armageddon.
Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

The second coming of Christ consists of four events.
His second coming begins with the coming of the Son of Man. The resurrection of the dead in Christ and the overcomers on earth will take place sometime in the second half of the 70th week of Daniel; no man knows the exact day or hour (1 Thes. 4:15-17, Mat. 24:15-36).
At the end of the second half of the 70th week, the Messiah will return to earth and fulfill the mystery of God; the salvation of Israel (Rev. 10:7, Rom. 11:25-27). Daniel 12:11-12 highlights the timing of the third and fourth events of Christ’s second coming. (Rev. 19:11-21; 21:9-10)
Thirty days after the Messiah returns to earth (1290 days) the Word of God will appear in heaven to war against the Beast and his armies (Rev. 19:11-21, Dan. 12:11). We know this because the Abomination of Desolation (Beast) will become desolate on this day (Dan 9:27, Rev. 19:20).
From Armageddon (1290 days) till the first day of Christ’s reign over the nations (1335 days) there will be forty-five days (Dan. 12:12). His coming will end when the Lamb returns with His bride (Rev. 21:9-10).

Isaiah 63:1 Who [is] this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this [that is] glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
63:2 Wherefore [art thou] red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
63:3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people [there was] none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
63:4 For the day of vengeance [is] in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
63:5 And I looked, and [there was] none to help; and I wondered that [there was] none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
63:6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
He who is on horseback is the king of kings and Lord of Lords with his garment dipped in blood. It’s a connecting link of Gethsemane through to the end. For those who have rejected his kingly love, his grief is too much. The coming of Jesus is to do with the plagues, destruction and roaring from heaven. Note how God has worked in this past and now in this grand finale. Here was an occasion where the servant of God was surrounded by the nation of the enemy;
2 Kings 6:15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
6:16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that [be] with us [are] more than they that [be] with them.
6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
Only those who are watching know the horses are around them. This is the day of his vengeance and the day of his redeemed. When the wicked are gathered around to destroy both themselves and Gods people in the time of Jacobs trouble and when the angels are around orchestrating the battle and destroying the wicked there is nothing to fear. This is involved in his coming, the day of his redeemed.

The coming of the Son of Man is the promise of Jesus to gather His elect from the wrath to come (Mark 13:27, I Thes 1:10, Luke 17:26-30, 2 Pet. 3:4). The sign of His coming will be lightening flashing from the east to the west (Mat. 24:27; 30). The unsaved will be terrified when they see Him coming on the clouds (Mat. 16:27, Rev. 1:7). When the dead in Christ who are with the Lord (1 Thes. 4:14) hear the voice of the Son of God, the trumpet of God will sound (John 5:25-29, 1 Thes. 4:14). Their dead bodies will come forth in the twinkling of an eye and be changed into incorruptible bodies (1 Cor. 15:50-52). After this resurrection, angelic reapers will cut short the Great Tribulation (Satan’s wrath) by removing a multitude from every nation (Mat. 24:21-22, Rev. 7:9-14). Like the days of Noah, the righteous will be delivered before God pours His wrath out on the unrighteous (Luke 17:26-30).

Jesus has two comings. First when he leaves the heavenly sanctuary and puts on his garments of vegance and orchestrates the seven last plagues which both the righteous and the wicked live through, and then when he transfers onto the white cloud and makes his visible coming to collect the saints. the wicked are then destroyed by the brightness of his coming and lie as dung on the ground and are visited 1000 years later.

At His coming, the righteous will be taken by angels to meet Jesus in the air. The wicked will be left to experience the day of the Lord (Mat. 24:37-39). Like Noah, overcomers will be delivered before the wrath is poured out. Make no mistake, there is only one coming of the Son of Man. The only day the Son of Man is revealed is after the opening of the 6th seal when He comes in the glory of His Father (Luke 17:30, Mat. 16:27; 24:29-31; 25:31). The Son will gather His elect before the earth burns up. Every Christian needs to understand the events warning His coming is near (Mat. 24:33). We need to be ready to overcome if it means losing our lives for Jesus (Rev. 12:11).
