Come Out of Egypt

Audio: mp3

The Passover lamb gave Israel the ability to leave.  One Passover can bring out at least 2.4million people from Egypt. There were 600,000 men and Israel was a growing nation.  The smallest calculations would have been 2.4 to 2.5 million people.  They didn’t need two Passovers as it would have been hectic.  Only one Passover.  The scripture says we have one baptism, one faith, one Passover and one Lord.  There is only one Jesus, one Passover, one Holy Spirit, one cross of Calvary and yet it can save millions. It can save to the uttermost he that comes to God by Jesus Christ. What a Passover.  We are looking at 2.4 million on the smallest calculation.

If we were more generous and if they had 4 to 6 children per family, there could even be 5 million people.  5 million people and one Passover.  What a strong deliverer. If you had a city and everyone was in their cars and leaving it would take more than a night to deliver.  But the deliverer, the Passover can bring salvation to millions.  The scripture declares that none were left.  They even took Josephs bones with them.  That is how good Jesus is at delivering.  He can deliver those after the cross and those before.  The cross can bring those that have died and bring them out of Egypt. The Passover is such a powerful representation of what Christ is promising to do.  This study is about coming out of Egypt.  We want to understand exactly what Egypt is.  Why do we want to understand what Egypt was?  Our Lord was spiritually crucified in Egypt as the world hated and persecuted him.

This bondage was an unusual bondage.  Israel went into Egypt of their own accord. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Our father and our mother Adam and Eve entered into this world, this Egypt of bondage by way of submission.  We are like those who have been born in Egypt.  When you are born in a certain place everything seems normal.  The children of Israel were born in this position. Are children born in bondage?   You could say yes they are.  Do they feel like they are in bondage?  They run around and have fun and there doesn’t seem to be any apparent bondage. The Israelites came into Egypt and bondage happened after when a king came that forgot who Joseph was.  That is when the bondage started. Exodus 1:7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them. Does that sound like bondage?  They were flourishing.  Then Pharaoh… Who is Pharaoh? The king of Egypt.  Who is the prince or king of this world?  Satan.  Pharaoh represents the devil. As these people were multiplying and flourishing Pharaoh became a little bit worried.  Why did he become worried?  What did the bible say? Exodus 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. 1:9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel [are] more and mightier than we: 1:10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and [so] get them up out of the land. There was a bit of a problem.  These children became bigger until they came to youth.  They multiplied.  What an increase, what abundance.  This increase of strength makes the evil one upset, it makes him worried.

Why the Devil is Afraid of the Youth

When our youth grow up from children Satan is scared.  Let us read what God has in store for the young people; 1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. The apostle is admonishing Christian youth that have had the Passover experience and that have followed Christ and he says you have overcome the wicked one.  Pharaoh is seeing growth and when  they get big he gets worried.  Why does he get worried?  Because they will join his enemies and kill him. The devil is worried at the youth today.  All the young people he’s worried about because if you get on the side of Christ you will destroy Pharaoh.  The devil being such a subtle servant that he is comes up with a plan.  I am going to bring these people into bondage so they don’t increase and destroy Egypt.  This is the question, do you want to build up Egypt or pull down Egypt?  Do you want to build pyramids for the rest of your life and have whips all over your back and then die as you haven’t accomplished anything but that which glorifies Pharaoh?  Would you engage in the service of the devil and glorify the devil then die with the whips on your back?  Is that what you want with your life?  To do what Satan wants you to do?  Or will you join the enemy? He that is a friend of the world is an enemy of God.  Egypt is the world.  If you are a friend of Egypt you are an enemy of God.  But if you join the enemy of Egypt which is God and you become a friend of God then you are an enemy of Egypt. Satan is untiring in his efforts to secure the service of our youth. With great care he is laying his snare for the inexperienced feet. The people of God should jealously guard against his devices.  {5T 28.1} We want to understand Egypt so we know what we are doing when we leave as this is a metaphor, an example of what we are living in now.  Pharaoh is untiring in his effort to get this growing nation. Would you not rather choose to be a child of God than a servant of Satan and sin, having your name registered as an enemy of Christ?  {MYP 47.2} If Christ and his armies were talking and said here are the enemies and they named everyone here, would we want to be on the list of Christ’s enemies?  No. Would you not choose rather to be a child of the King?  The Mighty Deliverer? These words of approval and instruction are addressed to every young man who has put on the whole armor of righteousness. Young and strong, they may do giant strokes for God, if they will make God their only trust. The older ones who are addressed as fathers, have a decided work to do in holding up the standard: but they feel the pressure of the burdens of life, and it is fitting that the younger ones should be encouraged to qualify themselves for duty by obtaining an experience in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, so that as the standard falls from the fathers, the strong young men may grasp it, and bear it aloft. . . .  {SD 204.2} To be young.  God says you can do giant strokes for God.  Pharaoh knows it and he is trembling because of it.  Pharaoh has dealt very wisely. Because of this worrying, what does he do?  Because Satan is worried about the young people of today as they can do great things for God Pharaoh does what?

Task Masters

Exodus 1:11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. 1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. They put them in the brick kilns and all the services in the fields and they worked hard.  Task masters.  What are the task masters of Egypt?  Egypt is the world.  What are the task masters of Egypt?  Pharaoh is busy sitting on the throne, he can’t come out personally, he sends task masters; Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. For the young people today the serpent is coming in such a nice way.  You want to go somewhere in your youth?  I will show you.  The woman saw something that was good and pleasant to the eye and taste.  It will make her wise.  These are the task masters. 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Where is the lust of the flesh?  Can anyone point to it?  It is here, in me – all that is in the world, that’s me.  The lusts of the flesh and eyes, where are they?  In my head.  The pride of life, where is this? In me.  Where is Egypt?  It is in you.  Egypt is in you.  All that is in the world is in you. Pharaoh put out some task masters. These are the task masters – the lust of the flesh.  These lusts cause us to build up the world, Egypt. There is no rest by serving Egypt. There is no rest at all.  They wouldn’t let them go for three days to worship in the wilderness.  There is no rest from the flesh.  There is no Sabbath in Egypt.

The Pride of Life

What do the youth do today to be wise?  They enrol in university and get a doctorate. They get a high education.  Education is not wrong.  But let us understand it from the task master, the pride of life.  They enrol in a course that is very heavy and as they are youth they are either just married or have a relationship already.  There are demands and the stress demands of becoming wise.  You have to study your exams as you have to cram as you have been slack. You are tired so you have to take coffee so you can be wise and keep up with these tedious exams so you can be wise. Finally you become qualified and you then go to your job and many people say half the stuff I studied I didn’t need I’m learning on the job.  In the meantime all the stress and time that was taken they don’t know how to be a wife or husband or do the basics of life but they want to be wise.  You get all these educational programs that teach you the wisdom of this world yet the basics of life, the children are being neglected as you had some exams to finish. Then you come home and you find that you have now gotten a job and you find you don’t know who your family are and that you are estranged with your wife, you don’t know who she is or your husband and your children are growing up and they are so naughty now.  These are the whips of the task master.  He got you to build the treasure city but now you get whipped.  Because education has pumped so much out of the young people that they don’t even know how to bring up the poor children and they send them to day care as they are so busy. These whips lash society like you would never believe.  These are the task masters of Egypt.  This is what Satan has set over the young people.  Get wise and worldly wisdom.  Jesus said to the disciples come and I will make you fishers of men and he put them in an apprenticeship and blessed Lord he pays while you work so you don’t have to get a job.  Many students have to pay for their basics as the study allowance isn’t enough.  You have your study cramped and you have to go work and all this stress but Jesus wants to put you in to an apprenticeship.  You can work, you are learning on the job, you are getting paid and you can go home and be with your family.  There’s no lashings. The scourge of the task master rips through society today all because of the pride of life.

Wealth – A Task Master

Wealth is the pride of the eyes to have a really nice vehicle or home or whatever you want.  Wealth is saying come and worship me.  Come and build the city of the Egyptians. Come and invest your money in the pyramids.  The young people really want wealth so they engage in obtaining wealth.  There is nothing wrong with wealth as money is not the root of all evil, what is the root of all evil?  The love of money is the root of all evil. Society says come and put your money in a term deposit and waits for a while and then the stock market might crash and then I have no more money.  Put your money into superannuation and it will grow and unfortunately today superannuation has gone down.  The love of money, this is how Satan is dealing wisely to give you things which afterwards whip you.  Wealth is like a bovine, it is really slow and heavy to come.  When you finally get wealth it disappears like a hound after a rabbit.  Wealth is such a stress. Thomas Fuller, one of the old Puritans, once said, Riches may leave us while we live, we must leave them when we die, and Riches are long in getting with much pain, hard in keeping with much care, quick in losing with more sorrow. Wealth, earthly wealth.  If we think about earthly wealth to play the game of wealth is like play a pretend game because we can have our wealth and we can have our house but when we die, and when we are on our death bed, are the same as a beggar. There is no difference on the bed of a rich man or a beggar.  He has been pretending all along he is wealthy but at the end of his life he has nothing.  It is like playing a pretend game except children have more fun playing as they know they are pretending.  People don’t realise they are pretending putting on these wealthy garments that when they die they will be moth eaten.

The Task Master of Dating

To fall in love, the lust of the eye – what a beautiful woman or man.  They are charming and pretty.  Man falls into love and then has stars around his head and wakes up to see how bad the fall really was as falling into love will wreck many a person.  This is a task master that really causes some problems. Young men and young women who have tried to be Bible Christians are persuaded to join the party, and they are drawn into the ring. They did not prayerfully consult the divine standard, to learn what Christ had said in regard to the fruit to be borne on the Christian tree. They do not discern that these entertainments are really Satan’s banquet, prepared to keep souls from accepting the call to the marriage supper of the Lamb; they prevent them from receiving the white robe of character, which is the righteousness of Christ. They become confused as to what it is right for them as Christians to do. They do not want to be thought singular, and naturally incline to follow the example of others. Thus they come under the influence of those who have never had the divine touch on heart or mind.  {TM 85.1} In these exciting gatherings, carried away by the glamour and passion of human influence, youth that have been carefully instructed to obey the law of God, are led to form attachments for those whose education has been a mistake, and whose religious experience has been a fraud. They sell themselves to a lifelong bondage. As long as they live, they must be hampered by their union with a cheap, superficial character, one who lives for display, but who has not the precious, inward adorning, the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price. When sickness and death shall come to those who have lived to please themselves merely, they find that they have provided no oil in their vessels with their lamps, and they are utterly unfitted to close their life’s history. This has been, this will continue to be.  {TM 85.2} This is talking of Christian Israelites. Israelites that are drawn in.  They see someone educated and who looks like they are a Christian but it is a fraud and they enter into this lifelong bondage.

There was a man who could have done some mighty strokes for God. His name was Samson.  You know the story of Sampson.  The lust of the eyes.  What lashes did this task master give Samson?  This task master when Samson was there, he had to work in the brick kindles of Egypt.  They poked his eyes out.  What a task master.  That’s what happens with the lust of the eyes.  Christ says if your eye offends you what do you do?  Pluck it out but don’t allow the Philistines to do it allow God to do it because the lust of the eyes inside of us to engage in a relationship which wasn’t ordained by God as the character is a fraud.  It’s superficial and fake and this is the snares of Satan upon the young people to fall in love.  They only wake up to see the damage of the fraud. After this bondage, Pharaoh had to command all the first born be thrown in the river. Today if the youth will follow the lust of the yes and flesh and if they have children, those children will end up in the river because of Pharaoh.  Those task masters will come and take your children and wreck your children.  Your children will be ruined.  They will be drowned in the waters of sin all because we have been in this bondage.

The Task Master of Amusement

Have you seen children amused with some toy and they love the toy and they both want it and what do they start doing to each other?  They start hitting, annoying and bashing each other all for the amusement.  I’ve seen more pain in amusement than pleasure.  When do the riots happen in the cities at night?  When they are working or amusing themselves?  Amusement causes problems because when we just want to indulge our self and someone else just wants to indulge themselves, it becomes war and a fight.  Little children can fight over a toy and hit each other and they are brothers and sisters.  Don’t they love each other?  No because amusement has a task master which whips them.  You can have the toy but you have just bashed your sisters.  It has a whip to it.

Appetite – The lust of the flesh.

To indulge in a worldly diet, drugs or caffeine.  Caffeine gives you a boost.  Wow, I feel good and then what is the whip of caffeine afterwards?  Oh it’s bad.  It’s like a siren.  Who likes to listen to a siren?  Have you ever heard the music of a siren?  Up and down.  Energy and no energy.  That is a task master of Egypt.  Working the bricks, you are building a great city and then whip, whip, whip.  To be filled with a sugar boost and then end up hypoglaecamic.  Now I need some more and am addicted.  This is a task master. You can’t get out of it.  You are in bondage.  I need another fix, I feel like I’ve been hit, I’ve got no energy left and I wake up in the morning and there are three types of drugs we take in our life; §  Stimulants §  Depressants §  Hallucinogens We start ourselves off and slow ourselves down. This is bondage.

One of the cruellest task masters I have ever seen is fashion.  What a task master.  You have to look pretty and so you look pretty and you put your high heels on and oh my calf muscles are sore at the end of the day as you’ve had to wear these high heels as it’s Egyptianally acceptable. You put on all these garments that reveal your skin to the sun and workers when they take their shirts off in the sun as it feels cool but then they boil all night because they are burnt. What a whip of the task master.  These are inside of us.  These are the whips.  Anybody that will want to come out of Egypt must first roam under these burdens. Exodus 3:7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which [are] in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. God knows our sorrows.  The Lord will deliver you out of these things.  Can you agree that these taskmasters of dating, fashion, appetite, education, wealth and amusements kill our young people?  Is that true?  Is there anyone that has been left out?  They all come in one. These are the task masters that Pharaoh has set over the Israelites.  This is what Satan has done to trap our young people.  Jesus Christ has heard our cry because it is hard when you don’t have the energy as you have had a tragic diet and you don’t have the vital energy of really being free and your back is really sore from yielding to these task masters.  Your children are suffering under it. You are really not wise, you are quite foolish really. You have not gained wealth, you are still poor.  Although Egypt is being built, you yourself are poor.  The pains and the sore calf muscles of these high heels – God wants us to be free from that.  He wants us to be free.  He has heard all these sufferings and I pray that we would actually cry unto God if we are suffering under any of these things. God has heard our cry and he said I will come and deliver them; Psalms 102:19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth; 102:20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; This is the question.  Are you groaning under these task masters?  Or are you still enjoying them?  Perhaps you haven’t been lashed enough.  Perhaps you haven’t really seen the results of following the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.  When you have seen these things this is where salvation starts. When you start crying, I want to get out of Egypt, I want to be free from all this.

What did God do?  He sent a man to release them. Hosea 1:1 When Israel [was] a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. 11:4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. God is drawing us with the chords of a man, a man Christ Jesus.  When the man Moses came, did Israel’s bondage increase?  As a Christian, if we want to be out of Egypt and we are sick of these task masters as it’s been for 430 years and we are very tired of it and we are crying to God, when you cry to God to help you, expect something to happen.  Notice what Jesus says to those that are in the world; John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I have given them the Word and now what does the world do?  When you receive the Word of Jesus Christ, what does Egypt start doing?  It hates you.  Moses came in to tell Pharaoh let my people go and Pharaoh hated it.  He said, I don’t know the Lord.  Because of the word it creates this hatred of the world.  Your flesh hates it.  Don’t think your flesh likes coming to church it doesn’t.  Your flesh would rather stay at home.  Your flesh would rather go to sleep.  Your flesh would rather do something else than serve God.  Trust me. The Bible says that the carnal mind is enmity with God.  It is not subject to the law of God and neither indeed can be.  It is impossible.  Your flesh hates the word.  When you start hearing the word, you start getting annoyed.  What happened to Apostle Paul when the pricks started getting him about Stephen?  What did he do?  Did he go and kill the Christians even more.  Under this conviction his flesh didn’t like it so it went into a worse experience and he writes of it in Romans 7 and 8 because when God’s word comes to us there is something that wants to push it away.  This must be removed.  We must come out from this. Romans 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [was] dead. What does concupiscence mean?  An intensity of evil desire, an increase of evil desire.  It stirred the flesh up.  The spirit lusts against the flesh and the sprit against the flesh and these are contrary to one another so you will not do the things that you should.  This is Egypt inside of us because really do you like to look good?  Really.  When someone would look at you and say you are beautiful, do you like that?  Of course you do but if you then follow God and look in the mirror and say I look so ugly and your flesh says I don’t like that.  Who likes being called ugly?  No one likes that.  Who likes to be uneducated? I can’t read half the big words in the Bible and I have to skip them as I don’t know how to pronounce them because I have had the results of Egypt which caused me to be a little lazy.  I didn’t like to read and I don’t like being uneducated.  I would like to read much better but I can’t.  That’s the flesh.  We are ugly to the world as we are beautiful to Jesus. As long as Jesus can see that we are beautiful through His merits and as long as Jesus gives me wisdom, that is ok, I can be a mechanic and can have the wisdom of Christ and be fine. Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 7:10 And the commandment, which [was ordained] to life, I found [to be] unto death. 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew [me]. When Moses came to Egypt they were to have no straw but still make the same amount of bricks.  It became very difficult.

Come Unto Me all ye that Labour

Jesus is saying, Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.  To come out of Egypt God is offering us rest.  Did Egypt offer rest?  No.  Does God offer rest?  Yes.  The seventh day is the rest.  It amazes me why people want to reject the fourth commandment considering society is so lazy.  You’d think that is the one they would really like.  I want to rest; I’ll have the fourth and none other.  It is really strange that no one wants to rest as they want to keep labouring but God is offering a rest. God is offering the bank of heaven. God is offering for you to build your treasure in heaven and not on earth where moth and rust does corrupt.  In heaven where thieves and robbers don’t break through and steal. That is where God wants you to put your treasure. Youth today who want wealth, there is an interest rate of 100% in heaven and it doesn’t go up and down like the current stock market.  It is a continual, non-changing, no shadow of turning, bank of heaven. Oh that we would put our energies, that we would put our time, our money, everything that we have and deposit it into a safe bank.  The bank of heaven, and this is what Jesus is offering. Come unto me all ye that labour.  All ye Egyptian slaves, come to Me and I will give you the wealth.  You want love in your life?  Love Me, a type of love that never has a sinking in it.  It is not like the siren going up and down, it is constant.  Come unto Me and I will give you a diet that has fibre in it.  Fruit which has a lot of sugar.  Dates have a high amount of sugar but also a high amount of soluble fibre.  The fibre in the dates grabs all the sugar and holds it into the fibre so when you digest it, it is like a gum.  All the sugars are held there and now the body needs a bit of sugar so the fibre gives a little bit of sugar and keeps the rest. You then have energy and it gives you a bit more. There is no drop when you eat dates.  You can eat dates which has a little sugar and it’s just enough to keep us going as God doesn’t want to give us the siren experience.  God put soluble fibre in our food.  God has put in the sugar food soluble fibre so it doesn’t give you this hypoglaecimic experience.  What a God we serve.  He thinks about these things.  Come unto Me all ye that labour, all you sugar junkies. Come to God and He will give you the diet, the sweet diet that will not give you this whipping afterwards. This is really what God is offering.  This is real.  This is really the diet of God.  He packs things so well.

An Apprenticeship to Christ

Jesus Christ is offering an apprenticeship.  I love apprenticeships because you can make some mistakes but the master tradesman can sort them out for you.  If you learn of the master tradesman, by the time you are finished, you are qualified, you have money in the bank and your family is happy.  That is God’s education.  In the schools of the prophets, was it just education or was it labour as well? They earned their money and food. That is God’s education. Not just do study.  Study wearies the brain but to study and exercise, that is balance.  Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. The fashion of heaven is so beautiful.  Have you ever considered how the angels look?  Even Lucifer before his fall, was he beautiful?  Oh yes, the stones, the beauties. Look at the lilies of the field, is it beautiful?  Can you be beautiful and yet not have the garments of righteousness? God says you can wear flat shoes because God wants our bodies to be relaxed when we work.  God is offering us a dress experience that is beautiful.  Not just an outward dress but an inward adorning of a meek and quiet spirit which is of great price in the sight of the Lord.  It is beautiful to think that you make the King say there is someone beautiful. We don’t need to make Pharaoh think we are beautiful, the King of the heavens will say My dove, My undefiled is but one, fair as the moon, clear as the sun and terrible as an army with banners. That is beautiful. All these task masters in Jesus Christ, in the Passover are null and void.  You do not have to yield to the task masters anymore.  You name any of them or anything that causes sorrow and God doesn’t require us to do it.  The only sorrow that we get is when we upset Egypt.  That’s all.  That’s the sorrow you get.  But this world passes away but the word of the Lord abideth forever.  If we do the will of the Father, of the Lord, this is the result of the Passover.  This is Christianity.  Christianity is offering a lifestyle that is opposite to Egypt.  If you think you’re Christians but still engage in the task masters, you’re not Christians.  God is calling us out through the blood of Christ.  The blood of Christ will cleanse us from all sin and purify our lives and give us our food and our needs and everything in abundance through Jesus Christ. He gives us freely all things. Amen. Further reading:
