1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.  11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Welcome ye upon whom the end of the world has come. Is this the end of the world? Today the church is crying as it has cried for centuries. The cry of Gods church for centuries has been the words of John.

Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

What is quickly to God and what is quickly to us? To God who is the eternal mind quickly is 2000 years. To us it’s many life times. When John said come Lord Jesus and that he comes quickly, this has been said through all the generations.  The record of heaven of all those who have been suffering through the dark ages.

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

What is the answer to the questions of these people from the past? Why so long? People wanted Jesus to come in their day. I remember as a youth I would never get married or have children and Jesus would come before that. Why has it been delayed to our senses for so long? The apostle had to quell the surge of yearning for the Lord to come in their time.

The Man of Sin

2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering together unto him,  2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

The apostle is saying no matter what we say, let no man deceive you. Even though the apostles said come Lord Jesus, even though they greeted each other with the word Maranatha, the Lord is coming, it doesn’t matter what we say, that day will not come unless there be a falling away first. What is meant by the falling away and the man of sin to be revealed? Are we there now that he has been revealed? Has this taken place what said it would take place?

2 Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Has this been revealed (the papacy)? Are we there?

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Has knowledge been increased and is the time of the end according to prophecy here?  Do the words of Apostle Paul still need to be fulfilled that this man of sin be revealed?

The Daily

Daniel 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.  11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.  13 But go thou thy way till the end [be]: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Here is a definite time prophecy for the people who can say the warning of Apostle Paul is no longer relevant to them.  The man of sin has been revealed and now it’s the end and Jesus is coming.  Do we understand what we’ve been reading when it says the daily shall be taken away?

Daniel 12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

Do we understand what that is pointing to?  If you read carefully these words, the daily and the abomination that makes desolate, you need to read Daniel 8.

Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

It is a direct reference that the daily and the transgression has something to do with making desolate. This is a twofold desolating power. The daily and the transgression. Why did God use this language to describe something? There is a daily desolation and transgression desolation.

Pagan and Papal

The careful study of this is the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire had two sections to it. Pagan and papal. Did the pagan desolate Gods people? Did the papal desolate God’s people? Yes to both. Here is the experience of the pagan daily and the pagan papal. That was the cry of Revelation 6:10. How long will you let this go on for? That was the question, how long will be the vision of this desolation? When will you make an end of it? It says blessed are they who come to this point.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

The original says – And from the time that the daily shall be taken away in order to set up the abomination. We can gain an appreciation when the date of that took place.  When was it that the pagan Roman Empire came to its conclusion so that the papacy could be set up? The pagan Roman Empire was as we know slowly defused by the barbaric tribes. When all the barbaric tribes were Christianised, that gave way for the papal desolation to take root. The daily shall be taken away to set up the papacy, the abomination. If you study the history, when all the barbaric tribes and kings were Christianised and submitted to the bishop of Rome, now the papal desolation could come and start its work. Do you know the year of that development? It was the year 508 and it was when the final King of the barbaric tribes of France finally submitted to the Bishop of Rome. His name was Clovis king of the Franks.

We Have a Date

508. From that time of 508 there shall be 1290 days. Add 1290 days to 508 and what do you get? 1798. Was 1798 the date in which the papacy, the man of sin was finally totally revealed? Apostle Paul’s words state when he is revealed only then can people expect Jesus to come. It says blessed is he that waiteth till he comes to the 1335 days.  Add 1335 to 508 and where does it bring you?  1843. Isn’t that exciting? What happened in 1844? The people that come to 1843 blessed are they to get to that date. Why are they blessed? What did Jesus do in 1844? He entered into the most holy place. To do what? To intercede as the high priest, to finish the Day of Atonement. He entered in there to receive a kingdom to judge Gods people if they have their wedding garment or not. The time of the end. Not the times of the end but the time now took place. Our theme of these studies is 1 Corinthians 10:11. It is a very important thing we are studying. I wish to cement of why it is so important that study this.

Ensamples – A Type

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Ensamples = for types in the margin.  These things are for the people whom the ends of the world are come.

1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

These were types and figures. Not merely examples but types and figures for our admonition upon who the end of the world has come. Why were the Hebrew wilderness wanderings chronicled as types and figures?  For our learning. Are there more than one end? When was the beginning of the end of the planet? When did the end of the world commence?

1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

Was it the end then? The bible says it was the end. The end of all things is at hand. What was it that marked the end?

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

What was it that launched the end of all things? The end of all things has to do with Jesus coming to this planet to do his work both as the lamb and high priest during the ends of the world. This was the beginning of the end. Only 2000 compared to 4000 and that is why it is the end.

The Manifestation of Jesus Christ

The book of Revelation announces that the things that Daniel closed off. The book of Revelation is the opening.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.

The time is at hand. It is the end of all things. The book of Revelation is a book that spans the end of all things. Here is the time prophecy of the 1260 days and 70 weeks.

Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Desolater).

What is this saying? This is the beginning of the end. Jesus is coming.  The Messiah comes onto this planet and he confirms the covenant with many of his people for 7 years and in the midst of the week he will be sacrificed at the cross. For the overspreading of the abomination. Jesus commenced his work from the time that he left this earth and here on earth, the processes of the end of all things commenced. Many people read these prophecies and say it’s too hard. If you carefully examine it, you will see it says the end of all things is at hand. From the time of the sin of Adam and Eve, the flood, Babylon being established through paganism and Jewish apostasy that now is the beginning of the end of those things.

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

He is talking to the people after Pentecost and they think he is drunk;

Acts 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is [but] the third hour of the day. 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

The Last Days

How many times have we read the scripture of Joel for our time? It applies as it is the last time but it occurred at that time as that was the beginning of that time. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and the latter rain is one big happening of the last days.

Hebrews 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

When was the end of the world? When he appeared as a sacrifice. This is the end of the world when Jesus came to sacrifice himself. With all those scriptures we have a clear vision that we are standing on a right appreciation. The ends of the world are from the time that Jesus sacrificed himself till now. From the sacrifice himself in the midst of the week it commenced.  He will cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. All they did in the Hebrew years is to stop.  Now is the real thing and the close of this worlds history. This launched the end at het time of Christ launched the path of Gods people to the heavenly Canaan. Their life was chronicled as a type or a figure upon whom. Those upon whom the ends of the world come. This was a type of the people of God where leaving Egypt and going to the promised land. When was it that they began to leave Egypt?

Captive in Egypt

Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham.

Are you picking up the picture? The children of Israel that were in Egyptian bondage needed to be released. When they became released into the wilderness, that was a type of people who have been released from sin all their lifetime. This was a type. From the moment that Jesus came to this earth, he commenced all things. He commenced the path of the people of God who left Egypt from the symbol to reality. The Israel of God travelled as did the Hebrews to the heavenly Canaan. That was the beginning of their heavenly journey. From the time of the first advent, 1798, 1844, through to the Second Advent. Under inspiration the apostle in 1 Corinthians 101-4 gathers the prophetic object for Gods people who have been redeemed by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Who Is Israel?

Who are they? In the Hebrew wanderings they were the twelve tribes.  The physical sons and their generations thereafter of Jacob.  This was a type of Israel.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye [be] Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

If you are Christ’s, what are you?  You are Hebrews. You are Abrahams seed and heirs according to the promise. The physical Hebrew according to the flesh were only a type. You see this coming through the scriptures time and time again.  The Hebrew of the flesh were type of the Israel of God.

Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Who are the Hebrews? We, the New Testament people.

Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

Who is Israel? Not those according to the flesh, not those that have been externally identified, they were a type. They were a figure of true Israel. Never forget this line up. There are a people in the world today who teach that the fleshy Israel is the Israel of God. They have a wonderful line up of the expectation for the Jews in the middle east whereas the bible says the Jews of the middle east are going to be destroyed in the terrible conflagration in Armageddon. They are a type.

Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace [be] on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Let the bible talk. If we talk of fleshly Israel, that is not Israel, it is a type of Israel.  Isaac was born according to promise. It is no wonder then that James 1 addresses the Christian church. How?

James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

The story of the Hebrews is the process in type for the people of God who are the real Israel. The real twelve tribes.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Who is he talking to? He is talking to the Christian church.

1 Peter 2:10 Which in time past [were] not a people, but [are] now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

What are we? Strangers and pilgrims. They are the true Israel. The Hebrews were the type. We are pilgrims like them in reality.

The Seven Churches, the Seven Seals and the Seven Trumpets

There is the wondering of Gods Israel through the wilderness. The church that commenced in the time of Christ, notice her travels. Gods church in seven periods of time. Here was the beginning of the end of Satan.

Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child]. 14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.  15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

There is the wilderness wandering. It is spelt out. she was in the wilderness. It is wonderful how the bible comes alive. Where are we today after all these wanderings? The seven church periods, seals and seven trumpets? Are we not on the borders? It is self evident. As we reflect on the types and figures of the Israelites, we see the church has launched out and it has now arrived at the Jordan and who is left? The remnant of her seed. Joshua and Caleb. A type. Are we Joshua and Caleb? That is for us to consider. We who are the Joshua and Caleb’s let us learn the reality of the type.

Amos 5:1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, [even] a lamentation, O house of Israel. 2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; [there is] none to raise her up. 3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out [by] a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth [by] an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel. 4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:

What is going to be left? Joshua’s and Caleb’s. A small number at the end.

The 144,000

The winds are being held back for what? So the Joshua’s and Caleb’s will be sealed. In which time will they be sealed? For the very last end of the history. Blessed are they that come to 1843. Those who will come to the Joshua and Caleb experience.

Revelaiton 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: [and there were] sealed an hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Juda [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad [were] sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of Aser [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses [were] sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar [were] sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of Zabulon [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin [were] sealed twelve thousand.

Romans 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut [it] short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

It doesn’t seem like that to us but it is true. Just because I can’t understand it doesn’t mean it is not true.  The children of Israel are Gods people of the seven churches. All those in the Old Testament are true in heart. the old nation of Israel is a type. Out of the nation of Israel that left Egypt, how many were saved? Not many. They that went out of a thousand were one hundred and those that left out of a hundred were left ten.

How to Arrive Safely In The Heavenly Canaan

From the launching out of Egypt, the supply of the needs, their disappointments and murmurings, the delivery of the law of God to them. Their arrival on the borders and their un-readiness for it.  As they come again to the border and so close to the grand finale, there is an apostasy.

All the experience of Israel has a lesson for us, who are living in the last hours of time. We should carefully consider their course of action and the dealings of God with them, and then imitate their virtues, while we shun those acts which brought upon them his displeasure. This mighty God of Israel is our God. In him we may trust, and if we obey his requirements he will work for us in as signal a manner as he did for his ancient people. It should be the most earnest study and continual effort of modern Israel to bring themselves into close and intimate relationship with God. Then with the mind quickened, the perceptions sharpened, they will discern his infinite power and overruling providence in all his dealings with man, and in all his created works. {ST, November 11, 1880 par. 13}

Is the theme of our conference important? It is highly essential that we will study with great diligence. May we not be the ordinary people of Israel but the Joshua’s and Caleb’s.
