Eating the Lord’s Body

Audio: mp3

What was the turning point of Judas? What experience made Judas make his decision to betray Christ? When Jesus was talking about the true feasting on the Word on his blood, he said, he that drinketh my blood and eats my flesh has life. That was the point that Judas turned to betray him. Is that the point we turn? Can we turn away from that truth? It will either turn us away from Christ or to Christ.  We have considered the truths of foot washing and for Christ’s sake we aren’t to hold any grudges against one another. In our attitudes we need to come and esteem others better than ourselves. We have understood in a previous study the spiritual appreciation of foot washing. We now seek to appreciate what Jesus Christ has done. The social interactions of people in the church, people you are entwined with in your roots, there could be a tare. We don’t know one day who will go where. We must be sure of where we want to go.

Social Aspects

One of the most social things that humans do together is eating. When you want to give someone a kind gesture, you say come to my house and we shall eat. It is a symbol of oneness. Before you eat, you need something. What do you think it is? Your body needs something, it needs an appetite. It needs to be hungry.  We should have an appetite before we eat. We don’t eat between meals because our stomach is not ready for it. Our stomach needs to be hungry. It needs to want food so when you give it food, it will be part of it. Hunger is a very important part to eating. Hunger is an important part to relationships. Hunger is a pain and it tells the body what it needs. If left, it causes pain and that pain will continue till you die unless that need is supplied. We need to question ourselves, are we hungry? Are we hungry for a meal?

Luke 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Two people again religious. One very content and happy, the other had a need. When you call for mercy, mercy is something you call from someone outside of yourself because of your condition. This man had a need and that need was hunger. Be merciful, give me some bread. Who was blessed? The publican was blessed, the man that was hungry. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. To have an appetite is healthy but it must meet its need or it will die. The initial pain is essential. Are you hungry? Do you hunger or are you content? I thank you Lord I’m full, full of myself. Or are you saying Lord I need something. How do we know whether we need Jesus or not?

Proverbs 27:7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

How do you know whether you are hungry? When you are full, absolutely full and someone comes along with some dessert, do you say no thank you I’m absolutely full? The scripture says how sweet thy words unto my taste are.

Psalms 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! [yea, sweeter] than honey to my mouth!

Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether.

19:10 More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Is the Spirit of Prophecy sweet to you or do you loathe it? Do you enjoy spiritual dialogue with one another? Do you like spiritual feeding or do you complain it’s a bit long I’m already full. Or are you complaining you’ve had as much as God can give you. What is it that makes you satisfied? What satisfies you? An appetite is needful. Without eating, you’re not a social person. Jesus wants to eat with us. He stands at the door and knocks. If any man hear my words, I will come into him. You appreciate Jesus and you let him in with his feast but you say I’m full. He leaves. How do you feel if you go to the expense of making someone food and the person says no thank you? Are we offended if they don’t take what we have made to eat because they are full? When I was a child I would come home and my mum would make dinner and I would say I’m full. The full soul loathes food. It’s not hungry. How do you know whether you are full? Do you hunger for Jesus? Can you do everything when you are working and say I’m doing everything to the honour of Jesus? We need to look at our souls and consider are we actually hungry for Jesus Christ because if not, the turning point will be Judas experience. The full soul loathes the honey comb. The hungry soul God says he will satisfy the longing soul with goodness.

Psalms 107:9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Are you hungry? The prodigal son had a rich father, abundance of goodness. Every gift came from this father. The father of lights. But this son said I’m going to take these blessings which my father has bestowed and I’m going to leave. The prodigal son went out and had fun, he ran out of money and had to go work but the money wasn’t enough to feed him.

Luke 15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

The prodigal son awoke to a fact, the fact was the need of his stomach, a need that he would even go and eat the pig’s food. He said I’m eating pig’s food and my father has so much food his servants can’t even eat it all. I will arise and go unto my father. Some of us may not realise the hunger of our own soul. We might be in a dream because we are satisfied with some other relationship than Jesus Christ. We can be satisfied. We can be satisfied with error. We can be satisfied that Jesus can accept all my sins and accept me in his kingdom. No matter what I do, I’ll be accepted in his kingdom.

Isaiah 29:8 It shall even be as when an hungry [man] dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, [he is] faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

They are in a dream and their dream is they are eating all this food but when they awake out of their dream, their stomach is actually empty. The prodigal son woke out of his dream and said to himself I’m eating pigs food what am I doing? Judas woke out of his dream and said I’m betraying innocent blood but he went out and hung himself as his soul was empty. When will you wake up? Now or in the near future when its too late? The summer is past, the harvest is ended but we are not saved. We don’t have the life, the flesh and blood of Jesus. Go to the source of God’s food. He said I will satisfy the hunger, no other relationship can. God suffered the children of Israel to wander 40 years. God wanted to teach Israel that man doesn’t live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Are you living by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth? They are righteous altogether? Have you got the doctrine, have you got the truth? Every word. The truth that the Adventists brought, the truths that the protestant reformers brought about, do you have the truth for today? Do you discern the Lord’s body? Do you know who Jesus is or do you think you know him? Do you dream you know him? Do you think you’re partaking of the spiritual food but your doctrine is wrong?

Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for [that which is] not bread? and your labour for [that which] satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye [that which is] good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

You’re in a dream. Are you eating something that is not real? The diligent will seek out every word. Do we need to search out the truth as it is in Jesus for today?  Do Seventh Day Adventists today understand the minor prophets?  Yes, we understand Revelation and the beasts but do you understand the minor prophets as they are prophecies? Are they sealed to you? Daniel and Revelation were sealed to the people prior to the Advent movement but we seem to stall there. The minor prophets are to continue the prophecies right to the end.  Every word, all the nitty gritty of God’s word, we need to understand all doctrines.  It says, why do you dream that you’re eating when you are not? It says hearken diligently unto me and eat. We have to understand everything in detail to understand who Jesus is and what he is doing.

Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live;

If you dream you are eating but are not will you still die? You’ll still die. We have to come to terms with, Lord I need to be hungry. Make me yearn for you because I don’t. I want to be hungry and that my hunger will come. Are you hungry for a hungry feeling? That can be intellectual. Pray to be hungry. Call out to God and say I need to be hungry. The call will be come and eat and you will hearken diligently.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Jesus is saying, I am the living bread. It;s not a dream.

John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Whether you acknowledge it or not, whether you have the feeling of hunger or not, pray for the hunger. Don’t be like Judas and walk off. This is the turning point of Judas. Iis this the turning point of you from heaven?

John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

This is where our foot washing comes into it. If we can eat with Jesus, we can wash one another’s feet. We can’t have one without the other.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

When it comes to communion of eating Jesus blood and flesh in the symbols, these symbols are needful. These should be carried out for a remembrance.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

You can partake of the Holy Communion and not even eat of Jesus. If your doctrine is wrong and you are eating of the flesh and blood, you’re eating damnation to yourself. Are our doctrines right? The Adventist realm partakes in this ordinance but is their doctrines right? Are they eating every Word out of God’s mouth? We are to eat every Word that proceeds out of God’s mouth and do the ordinance. Not just do the ordinance alone.  As we consider, are you hungry for Jesus or are you satisfied with other things?

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

There are people brothers and sisters who have let go of the doctrine of Christ. They have let go the truth of who Jesus was and is. There are many people that deny that Jesus has come in the flesh. Look to yourselves that you don’t lose it also, the doctrine of Christ. Christ actually has the food that will satisfy you. Not just a dream of a worldly consideration about Christ. His doings, the miracles he did and the stories. Do you have the doctrine of Christ? Do you know who Christ is? Do you believe that Jesus Christ has what you need? Do you believe that Jesus Christ can actually satisfy every craving of your being? Don’t dream about it.

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

How many words did it use to compare? For as much as you are living your experience in your flesh and blood, everything about your flesh and blood. As much as his children are partakers, he also himself, likewise took part of the same. How can we not believe the doctrine of Christ? How can we say that Jesus was not tempted without and not within? That is eating a dream. When that dream is over, you’ll be hungry. They’re drunk, they stagger and they teach the precepts of the commandments of men. Jesus Christ can satisfy every need. He will supply all your needs by Christ Jesus, every hunger that you have. There are many people that have let this truth go of Jesus Christ and that he was tempted in all points as we are.

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

These were a hungry people in fear. I need something. I need security.

Hebrews 2:16 For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham.

Shouldn’t that stop all the questions in our minds right then and there?

Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things [pertaining] to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Everyone that is hungry come to me and buy real doctrine nad real truth. Buy without money. You can be as poor as you like, he’ll give it to you. He says I’ll make a covenant with them, a testament even the sure mercies of David.

1 Corinthians 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the [same] night in which he was betrayed took bread:

11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Are you full? Will you say no Jesus I’m full? He said take eat. The soul that needs companionship, he will satisfy the longing soul. The bitter herbs will be sweet. Jesus Christ died for you, for your sins and for my sins. His body was broken for you. How bad has been your life? How hungry are you? As you come as the publican Lord be merciful I am hungry and Jesus Christ takes his body for you to eat. He gave everything up. He came to this earth and relinquished all the glories of heaven. He came to this earth and he humbled himself. It wasn’t robbery to be equal with God. He took on the form of a man and became obedient unto death. He became naked so we could be clothed. Jesus Christ had nothing for his body.

Hebrews 11:25 After the same manner also [he took] the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me.

If you’ve sinned, God can if you make this a turning point. Not the turning point of Judas. Forsake the relationships that are not of God and he will receive you.

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come.

Is this Judas again? Judas ate this ordinance with Christ unworthily. He made it a turning point the wrong way. We are partaking of Christ’s body as we eat this word, every word.

1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink [this] cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup.

11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

If you don’t understand the nature of Christ and believe it, you’re not discerning his body. You are not discerning who he is and you are eating a dream. That will make the bitterest disappointment you have ever experienced in your life. The Lord Jesus Christ knows how you feel every time in every situation, in all points.

Hebrews 11:30 For this cause many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

I’ve heard a sermon once entitled The Remedy for Gossip.  https://sabbathsermons.com/2009/07/20/the-remedy-for-gossip/. In that sermon it talked about cannibals. There was a body and the cannibal ate it. It says the sin of gossip is the same as eating someone else’s body. Do you like talking about Jesus or do you like talking about everyone else? If you’re hungry you’ll only want to talk about Jesus.  We have an opportunity to talk about Jesus through our testimonies. We can lift our hearts testimonies for what he has done this year in all our trials he has been a present help in trouble more than ever before. Can you praise God for what he has done? Can you give us some of the flesh and blood of Christ for what he has done for you? We don’t’ want to gossip or bring anyone down. We want to be hungry and eat the life Jesus Christ is offering to us.

Amen.

  1. May I ask something? What other important anniversary do we ignore? We remember the Anniversary of our Birth, We remember the anniversary of weddings, we remember the day we think Christ was born. We remember the day America became a nation, as I am sure you remember yours, and we remember Easter anniversary, so why do we work so hard to distance our self from the anniversary of the greatest event in all Human History. The very Anniversary of the DAY, OUR LORD did his greatest work for us, saving our eternal lives by sacrificing Himself on that day? And the DAY which bears his own name: Passover, as PASSOVER LAMB. Why would anyone who follows a man who died for him or her “NOT” want to remember the day he did it?

Why would a person NOT want to take the same elements as his LORD took on the DAY he took them? Why does a day so holy and so full of good for us, get shunned like it was the Plague? Remember Paul told us that we can eat any foods as long as we do it with thanksgiving, so why is it I can eat unclean foods and eat the meat sacrificed to Idols without inuring any guilt, but if I keep the anniversary of the day my lord died for me, I am somehow “unworthy” Why is it if I keep the date my Lord first offered communion, a day which is in scripture and is in the New Testament, I am somehow unclean, but if keep the date he was resurrected, a day he had no part in accomplishing, , since it was God who resurrected him, and a day not commanded in scripture, I am somehow being Holy? Paul said: . . . 1 cor 5:7 . . . For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us Therefore(Because of that) let us keep the feast, . . . the words after this are simply qualifiers. So he said Because our Passover Lamb has been sacrificed for us, let us keep Passover, or what other meaning could those words have?

And Did you see in my note that the Church faithfully kept the Communion Passover until it was forced from them in 300 something AD? Are they all unworthy? Saint Polycarp kept the 14th and died rather then give that up, in fact so many in the church kept the 14th anniversary that it had its own name. The controversy of the 14th.” because Polycarp said the Disciple / Apostle John and all the Apostles kept that date. Are they unworthy? We keep a Satanic Roman inspired Easter upon which the Pagan sun god, Mithra was resurrected and that knowledge is easily accessed for any wishing to know the truth. Are we unworthy? We take communion on a day, using elements we our self selected. We have not one word of scriptural authority for doing any of that, and yet those who refuse to follow that unauthorized tradition, we pronounce, unworthy.
    Peace

    And
    Peace
