There is One God

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:

One in Hebrews = Echad, which means one in unity.

He is one Lord.

Isa 45:5 I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

Is that easy to conclude in the light of what people understand today that the three are not one. That God the father son and holy spirit does not fit in here. Don’t we expect that whatever we read from Gods word isn’t going to fit into our understanding easily? We are to worship God intelligently.

If you want to understand the above, you need more bible texts to show that one in unity is explained to us.

Is there a Bible text that says God is one but the concept in unity is expressed?

Genesis 26,27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

God says “let US”, plural, make man in “OUR”, plural, image after “OUR”, plural, likeness. God made man in His own image.

He created two but it was singular;

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

It is the same as let us make man in our image. Plural and singular together.

If that is the way it looked like here, let us see if this is correct.

How many were there when God created man in his image? Who made me? Who created us? Who was active in creating?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

At creation who was there? The word and the word was God and was with God. This is two entities that were creating. All things were created by the word. This is why God said let us make man in our image.

Was there another person there? Who else made us?

Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Who made me? The spirit of God. How many entities have we got here?

God, the word and the spirit. Is that right? Can you see why it says let US make man. The one that was working was the word, God and the spirit of God. They were all working.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Can you see three beings here?

This is simple and straight forward. It is a revelation but there is some more detail by which we can verify this by. More detail;

God in separate entities is described in the time of Babel.

Genesis 11:5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
11:6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
11:7 Go to, let US go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

Isa 48:12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I [am] he; I [am] the first, I also [am] the last.
48:13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: [when] I call unto them, they stand up together.
48:16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there [am] I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

Who is the first person speaking? Jesus. He is speaking as God.

Verse 16 is the spirit of God.

In the plan of salvation the spirit and God sent him. That is why when the Pharisees were challenging him what did he say? Before Abraham was I am. There is one God in unity. That is the deep things of God.

John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

You believe that I came out from God. He is simply saying that by you believing that I came out from God as in the unity of God there is something special ‘cos you believe that.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
14:20 At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

If we can understand the unity of the godhead we can understand the unity we are to have as we are many but are to be one.

John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

It is an amazing thing to discover that many people can be so united that they are one. This is what Jesus is saying, if you believe that I came forth from the father then you can understand the unit of God as you will then come into that same union.

17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare [it]: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

This is the beautiful meaning of the Godhead conveyed for our benefit. That is the picture that the word of God shows us.

    Amen to this presentation on the fact that God is ONE! The God Head is Biblical and there hare Three Divine Person of the God Head that have been active from the very begining of the world for the happiness and salvation of humanity.

    I have taught and agree with all that you have said in this presentation. Some of us are united on bible truth and are seeking to be One with the Lord and in unity of our faith with one another.

    But what about those who are not in unity of faith? When we see they are teaching false theories. Should we try to correct, reprove and have discussions with them when we see that others have and they are still rejecting bible truths? I do not think we should continue in these types of debates or discussions. I will from now on with the help of the Lord to just ignore these types and pray for them. God Bless!
