The Feast Days and Ceremonial Laws Were Abolished at the Cross

The ceremonial laws were placed in the side of the ark:

Deuteronomy 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

The death of Christ on the cross abolished the ceremonial laws;

Epheisans 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

WHAT DOES THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY SAY?

He cautioned Timothy to remove any occasion for them to reject his labors. He complied with their rules and ordinances as far as was consistent with his mission to the Gentiles. He would not mislead the Jews nor practice deception upon them; but he waived his personal feelings, for the truth’s sake. He refrained from urging upon the Jews the fact that the ceremonial laws were no longer of any force. {LP 161.1}

With the Gentiles his manner of labor was different. He plainly informed them that the sacrificial offerings and ceremonies of the Jews were no longer to be observed, and preached to them Christ and him crucified. {LP 161.2}

They did not realize that type met antitype in the death of Jesus Christ. The greater their perversion of figures and symbols, the more confused their minds became, so that they could not see the perfect fulfilment of the Jewish economy, instituted and established by Christ, and pointing to him as the substance. Meats and drinks and divers ordinances were multiplied until ceremonial religion constituted their only worship. {SpTEd 171.1}

He was convinced that Jesus was the originator of the entire Jewish system of sacrifices. He saw that at the crucifixion type had met antitype, that Jesus had fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Redeemer of Israel. {AA 120.2}

Type met antitype in the death of Christ, the Lamb slain for the sins of the world. {LHU 319.3}

    After reading 3000 pages of the Grace Amadon Collection confirming the Luni-Solar Barley calendation used by the Millerites, it is reassuring to see that none of the scholars engaged in that important study were caught up in human reasoning like the emergent churches are for people who base their spiritual experiences on strong feelings. They studied carefully every details of the calendar the Millerites used to do the reckoning of October 22, 1844.

    Their conclusion written in 6 Part Series is not based on strong feelings. The decision they made to not published it at large as L.E. Froom expected if you read his last paragraph, was for fear of confusion. Which may flair on the side of feelings. But witnessing the divided camps this study has created since 2007, after presenting the Grace Amadon Collection all over the world, it is understandable why they made their decision although not necessary acceptable.

    After all, is it not true that TRUTH never loose anything by being investigated? And yes, you are right there are many people every day who are willing to look into this calendar of the Millerites not even of our faith, especially with the Calendar Reform Movement that has been opened for anyone to submit a new calendar which, if they have it their way, should be changed by 2012.

    Two more years, even less, and if the Heavenly Father allowes it this time to go through contrary to 1939-1940, the Vatican will not be permitted to veto the Calendar Reform Movement as it did in 1940. The whole world will hear about this debate of the calendar — and I surely hope and pray that they hear about the Luni-Solar Barley Harvest Mosaic Law calendation, even though they reject it, laugh at it or even kill us for it. So be it. And that my friend is not based on feeling: in religious liberty ‘s language it is called:

    RELIGION OF PREFERENCE or RELIGION OF CONVICTION

    In case you do not know, these are Legal Terms used in the Court of Law to determine if a person really believe in what he/she stands for:

    A Religion of Preference: a person will sell everything they own to support and promote it, will go to the mission field for it, but when put under the pressure of loosing freedom, family, friend and even life itself, the person backs up.

    Religion of Conviction: a person is prepared to loose his/her freedom for it, family, friend and even his/her life for it.

    That is the kind of religion Huss and Jerome, Luther and others great Reformers of history possessed. I pray this is the one I possess at this time because when the test come, it will be too late to learn why I believe the way I believe and that is valid for all of us. If you are sure that Saturday is the 7th day Sabbath because Sister White kept it, make sure you stand on it with all the arguments to prove why, although I do not believe, such argument will stand in the Court of Law. Facts is what the Court of Law demands, facts they must see.

    Thus far, we, as SDA have not shown a united front regarding the Millerites calendar and the reason of our faith on a 7th day Saturday. It is being questioned by scholars as well as laity all over the world, because, it does not stand the test of calendation The purpose of these discussions is not to express feelings and emotions, calling people names or charging them with evil intention. Drug addicts and murderers are better treated in Court from my experience with working with teenagers in Maximum Security prisons, then the treatment some people including myself have received on this forum. But it is to be expected.

    Galilea was excommunicated by the Catholic Church for trying to prove that the earth was round. Previous to his invention of the telescope. “Some ancient philosophers thought that the earth was flat like a great level plain, and that it rested on the back of an elephant which stood on the back of a great tortoise. What that rested on, they did not venture to suggest. Later on, some Greek philosophers taught that Atlas one of the giants who was at war with Zeus, was condemned to support the earth, and is represented as bearing the world on his head, neck and shoulders. Others believe that the heavens were a vast hollow globe, and that the heavenly bodies were like jewels fastened to it on the inside. Scholars later believed that there were several hollow crystal spheres, one inside the other like the layers of onion, each carrying heavenly bodies.” The Stars and the Bible, H.M.S. Richards, page 23.

    This may sound foolish for us to read today, because we are so advanced in science and technology, it seems. But really, nothing has changed. It is still hard to present new thoughts that are not the “normality” even and especially, in religious circle. Feelings and emotions often replaced logic and decency, and words are written, comments are made, personnality take over principles and soon, it is easier to remain quiet than risk to be thrown out of the synagogue, or church or whatever.

    The 3 other ladies who ordered and studied the Grace Amadon Collection with me for the past 3 years have been disfellowship now. They are no longer part of the Church they were born, educated and married in. Their children are no longer SDA either. Here I am, ex-Catholic, ex-Pentecost, still a SDA telling you Nikoa that nothing is new under the sun. People still react like the Dark Ages, no matter which faith they are in. It is like self-protection against the invaders. So be it. But that will not shut me down or my friends, since it is a well-known technic, one must learn from it and not be intimidated by it. If that is the only recourse left to explain one belief so be it:
    You state:
    I have a feeling that it is a trap for intellectual type thinkers who get caught up in human reasoning like the emergent churches are for people who base their spiritual experiences on strong feelings.

    My response is:
    “To stand in defense of truth and rightousness when the majority forsake us, to fight the battles of the Lord when champions are few — this will be our test. At this time we must gather warmth from the coldness of others, courage from their cowardice, and loyalty from their treason.” 5T136.

    With His love,

    Note: I was trained as a Religious Liberty representative by the Ontario Conference in the 1980’s and I am a member of NARLA and participated in their training in Washington DC since its implementation. I have spoken against the Sunday Law that Premier Bob Ray tried to push on the Ontarians in Canada in the 1989-1991 era and it was declared non-constitutional. It was a great victory… for the moment.
