Shake Off the Dust

God has ordained that the messages of his word are to give us salvation personally and across the whole church.  His word is to purify the church. We are living in these last days and we need to be aware of the time we’re living in.  We need to understand the light and the day star prophecy so we can go through circumstances and experiences so we’re not thrown off our feet and left too surprised.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Verse 7 refers to everything being ready.  When everything is ready, he can come.  Verse 8 is the prerequisite of being ready.  This is about Christ coming to earth to orchestrate the war of Armageddon.  The church being ready and the plagues falling are coupled.  The plagues falling are very close but can we identify how close it is to the bride being fully cloaked in fine linen?  This is a true line up.

Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. 2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, [and] sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

Isn’t the holy city his bride?  What time is this talking about?  Just before his return in the fulfilment of the sixth plague.  We have learnt in previous sermons about the dark spot in Gods church.  The dark spot was the uncircumcised and the unclean in her.  What is happening to the church of God according to this text?  The marriage supper of the lamb has come.  She has made herself ready.  Verse 2 starts by saying shake thyself.  When we read the bible, the bible uses language we can understand and compares it like a marriage, a white garment.  What does it mean for the church to put on its white garment?  Verse 2 says shake thyself from the dust.  What are the consequences of the shaking?

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! 8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.

This is the unity that John prayed for.  The shaking causes the unity.  The church is called to awake and put on her beautiful garment.  We need to remove the uncircumcised and unclean.  The uncircumcised are those that haven’t crucified the flesh.  Cut off the foreskin’s of your heart the bibles says.  Overcome the flesh.  Those that aren’t overcoming the flesh that keep acting in the flesh are the uncircumcised.  It says in Isaiah 52 that they will no more come in.  The shaking of Gods church is to produce unity and is to be the white garment so that there is no more black spots in Gods church.

I asked the meaning of the shaking I had seen and was shown that it would be caused by the straight testimony called forth by the counsel of the True Witness to the Laodiceans. This will have its effect upon the heart of the receiver, and will lead him to exalt the standard and pour forth the straight truth. Some will not bear this straight testimony. They will rise up against it, and this is what will cause a shaking among God’s people.  {EW 270.2}

What we are experiencing now are the last scenes before Jesus comes.  They are right here.  Future is no more future, it is present.  When I was growing up, I was expecting a glory that no one will miss.  The glory that lightens the whole earth.  Its not so.  If Jesus was the light of the world, can anyone be brighter than him?  When he came, he was rejected of its own. We will not see a great revival in the church, Sr White says that time will never come.  Each Sabbath we have, Jesus coming is sooner.  As I read, the sense becomes greater.

I saw that the testimony of the True Witness has not been half heeded. The solemn testimony upon which the destiny of the church hangs has been lightly esteemed, if not entirely disregarded. This testimony must work deep repentance; all who truly receive it will obey it and be purified.  {EW 270.3}

Does not purification wipe us clean?  The shaking amongst Gods people is the straight truth as it is written from the testimonies.  This will cause people to rise up against it and separate.  Those that love and obey it will be purified – made clean.  So when we read, shake thyself from the dust, its what we are to expect.  The straight truth will cause people to get upset, those that love it will press together. This is a prophecy.  Unity must be accomplished before Jesus can come.  But, is it a unity that we can force via human efforts?  No.  It’s a natural unity from obeying the word.  It comes from being purified.  If you are purified you will be in unity like those who are like-minded.  We are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is.  If we want to be by ourselves, there is something wrong.  We should want to come together.  God makes a book of when we come together.

The numbers of this company had lessened. Some had been shaken out and left by the way. The careless and indifferent, who did not join with those who prized victory and salvation enough to perseveringly plead and agonize for it, did not obtain it, and they were left behind in darkness, and their places were immediately filled by others taking hold of the truth and coming into the ranks. Evil angels still pressed around them, but could have no power over them.  {EW 271.1}

I heard those clothed with the armor speak forth the truth with great power. It had effect. Many had been bound; some wives by their husbands, and some children by their parents. The honest who had been prevented from hearing the truth now eagerly laid hold upon it. All fear of their relatives was gone, and the truth alone was exalted to them. They had been hungering and thirsting for truth; it was dearer and more precious than life. I asked what had made this great change. An angel answered, “It is the latter rain, the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, the loud cry of the third angel.”  {EW 271.2}

This is the product of the shaking.  As I read this, the shaking comes before the latter rain in his church.  When the large portion of Gods church are working earnestly, then he will send his spirit.  A large portion of his church?  When its been shaken.  There were people loosed from their family, friends but they were keen for the truth.  What made this great change?  The latter rain, the loud cry.

Great power was with these chosen ones. Said the angel, “Look ye!” My attention was turned to the wicked, or unbelievers. They were all astir. The zeal and power with the people of God had aroused and enraged them. Confusion, confusion, was on every side. I saw measures taken against the company who had the light and power of God. Darkness thickened around them; yet they stood firm, approved of God, and trusting in Him. I saw them perplexed; next I heard them crying unto God earnestly. Day and night their cry ceased not: “Thy will, O God, be done! If it can glorify Thy name, make a way of escape for Thy people! Deliver us from the heathen around about us. They have appointed us unto death; but Thine arm can bring salvation.” These are all the words which I can bring to mind. All seemed to have a deep sense of their unworthiness and manifested entire submission to the will of God; yet, like Jacob, every one, without an exception, was earnestly pleading and wrestling for deliverance.  {EW 272.1}

When we are doing Gods will, what does it do to those who were once with us?  The company of the lord was enraging others, making them angry.  We have a lot to experience yet but we can see what is happening.

Hebrews 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more [shall not] we [escape], if we turn away from him that [speaketh] from heaven: 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this [word], Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God [is] a consuming fire.

The things that are shaken, are things that are made. Its fake.  Its not real.  Its not pure religion, its hypocrisy.  Those things that will not be shaken, they may remain.  We think of Matthew 24 when Jesus is talking about his coming, as in the days of Noah, so shall the coming of the son of man be.

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luke 17:35 Two [women] shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36 Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Many people read this as the one that is taken was taken by God.  Many people read this as the rapture.  The people taken are the wicked.  They are the ones that can be shaken.  Noah was there and all those that didn’t heed, they were taken away.  Two were in the field, one was taken and one left.  The two people in the field were working together.  Luke shows how two people were not only working together but they are relatives.

Luke 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

A separation is separating dear ones.  People that are relatives.  Not just workers, but relatives.  You may recall in Matthew 13 about the tares and the wheat.  They grew up together.

Mathew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

When did the tares appear?  When it came to the bringing forth of the fruit the tares came up also.  It’s not just a matter of pulling out a tear.

Matthew 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one];

You have two people in a field growing up together.  You’ve been through the same storms, rain, sun and everything the same.  The same ground.  Drawing the same nutrients.  Then the time comes, one is taken away to be burned.  What do we expect with human relationships in the last days?  The reapers, the angels, and the straight testimony is what separates.  If we love the straight truth, we also need to love its consequences because we can love the truth but hate what it does then find ourselves questioning what platform we are standing on.  In the shaking time if we move, we are not genuine.  Truth comes with consequences and we need to accept it.  This is the cost of the last days, to be a Christian, to do anything for Jesus.  You’ll find yourself in relationship strains and it will rock you.  If you’re not, you’ll be swept away. We can have consolation in Christ as he is in the bosom of the father.  As he is calling us to hear his testimony, if we love Jesus and want to hear what he has to say, we can also be in the bosom of the father.

James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 7 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

It saves your soul and removes all those that don’t love it.  We can start to question or not appreciate the word. We have a rock.  A God who doesn’t change, no shadow of turning, no variableness.  In our spiritual life, we can be the same if we are doers of his word, not hearers only. May we consider our own spiritual walk, the future before us and the consequences of the word, shaking and the time in which we are living.  We will not be surprised of what comes.  We may be surprised with what is coming.  Jacobs trouble will be beyond our imagination but we won’t be surprised that such a thing is happening.  God wants to give us an expected end.  My prayer is that we can hang onto our Father in heaven and he can keep us safe.
