God, War and the Old Testament

God Has a Secondary Will
God has a perfect will but there is a secondary will. It is a will that comes to deal with the apprentice who thinks he’s smarter than his master. God’s perfect will was that there was no divorce. God’s secondary will was that they could divorce because of the hardness of their heart. Read the rest of this entry

Foreword
As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives with His disciples almost two thousand years ago, His disciples asked Him about the signs of His coming, and the end of the world. In Matt 24:6 (first part), He replied, “And ye shall hear of ways and rumours of wars.” Read the rest of this entry
7. Daniel 11 – The Consummation
By John Thiel
Audio: The Consummation
The conclusion of the Daniel 11 prophecy is cited in the following scripture.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
The last word is ‘desolator’ according to the marginal reading. We have studied the activities of the desolators. At the end of all the desolations, we come to the consummation. Even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. God has a single objective in plan for this world. Read the rest of this entry
And Follow Their Faith!
Compiled by Hans Fleschutz

In memoriam of those in the Seventh-day Adventist Reform Movement who died for their faith.
Testimonies of faithfulness and steadfastness during Germany’s dark days
Introduction
More than twenty years have passed since the terrible Second World War ended. Much has been spoken and written about that time. In several places memorials have been erected as a reminder of those inexpressible sufferings. In that time of great apostasy when the fury of war did its destructive work and the god of war was worshiped and glorified by nominal Christians, there were still people who had the courage to acknowledge Jesus as their Lord. They knew that salvation could be found in only One–Jesus Christ. Through love for their Lord they fulfilled His will; they “loved not their lives unto death” and courageously stood firm for their precious faith.
Faith is proven in times of testing. Thus the period under the rulership of the swastika was also a hard test for God’s people. The purpose of the Reformation has always been to educate soldiers under the cross. During that trial of World War II, these soldiers of Christ proved themselves victorious – faithful unto death. 3. The Church of That Other Angel
The Two Houses of Israel
Study 3
By John Thiel
Audio: The Church of that Other Angel
The angel represents the ministry as per Ephesians 4. It’s active in saving Gods people. The Jews were active in saving the people at the time of Christ. In our last study we beheld Gods church of 1844 proceeding to a point in time in which they fail to repent and are spewed out by Jesus Christ. Here Jesus is speaking to his church in his time that was on its way out. The spirit of prophecy speaks the same of the Adventist church today. Read the rest of this entry
Brother Against Brother
By John Thiel
This time of our fellowship is focused upon righteousness by faith, the faith of Jesus and we need to understand this. The crisis ahead of us is called the day of the Lord and is a horrible time for the people that live on this planet. The day of the Lord is when Jesus stands up after pleading for his people in the heavenly sanctuary. Read the rest of this entry
War and God’s Will
Hosea 13:9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me [is] thine help. 13:11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took [him] away in my wrath. The children of Israel wanted a King to go ahead of them and fight their wars. Wars that were taking place between the nations. Was this Gods will for his people? What was his perfect will? Exodus 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 23:21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name [is] in him. 23:22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. What would God be? He would be an enemy to their enemies. This was his plan for them. 23:27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. 23:28 And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee. Gods plan for them was that they wouldn’t have to put a finger forth to get the enemies out of their life. God would be their enemy and he would deal with them and send the fear upon them to run away. They wouldn’t come to fight the Israelites but would turn their backs on them by God sending them hornets to drive them out. He would have worked through nature, that was Gods plan. Yet they wanted a king to go before them to fight the battles. Gods will was not that but he gave them a king. His will was that they would not have to do anything to war against their enemies. 2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not [need] to fight in this [battle]: set yourselves, stand ye [still], and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD [will be] with you. Jericho and Gideon are an example. If the apprentices don't want to do the Master's will, He altars His perfect will to coincide with the will of man but it was not his perfect will. It is not Gods will either that Christians today should participate in warfare in any shape or form including medic or army chaplain. We are pilgrims and strangers earth, ambassadors to Christ. We don't involve ourselves with the politics in a kingdom we are not part of. I was shown that God’s people… In the army… cannot obey the truth and at the same time obey the requirements of their officers. There would be a continual violation of conscience. Worldly men are governed by worldly principles. They can appreciate – no other. 1T 361. John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. "The Christian thinks of any other man—English, German, French, Russian, Turk, Chinese, or African—simply as a man and therefore a possible heir of God through Christ. If that other man, no matter what his race or nation, be also a Christian, then the bond becomes mutual and therefore still stronger. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. It is for this reason that it is impossible for a Christian to engage in war. He knows no distinction of nationality, but regards all men as his brothers. The life of Christ is his life, for he is one with Christ. It would be as impossible for him to fight as it would be for Christ to have seized a sword and fought in self-defense when the Roman soldiers came for Him. And two Christians can no more fight against each other than Christ can fight against Himself.” “The life of Christ is his life, for he is one with Christ. It would be as impossible for him to fight as it would be for Christ to have seized a sword and fought in self-defense when the Roman soldiers came for Him. And two Christians can no more fight against each other than Christ can fight against Himself.” Glad Tidings. Glad Tidings. E J Waggoner John 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

“I am charged to tell our people that they do not realize that the devil has device after device, and he carries them out in ways that they do not expect. Satan’s agencies will invent ways to make sinners out of saints. I tell you now, that when I am laid to rest, great changes will take place. I do not know when I shall be taken; and I desire to warn all against the devices of the devil. I want the people to know that I warned them fully before my death.” Manuscript 1, February 24, 1915. Origin of the SDRAM
From the beginning, the Seventh-day Adventist denomination announced its stand as follows: “We, the undersigned, hereby associate ourselves together as a church, taking the name of Seventh-day Adventists, covenanting to keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”J. Loughborough: The Great Second Advent Movement, p. 352.

This small group of faithful Adventists formed the nucleus of what is nowadays “The Seventh-Day Adventist Church”. New light was given to them concerning Christ’s Work in the Sanctuary, Saturday, Health Reform and Organization. A wonderful system Biblical Truth gradually unveiled, a system that supplies each necessity of our time. The central doctrine of the movement was the imminent and visible coming of Christ. All the tests, privations and sacrifices that the pioneers of the Adventist Movement faced were bear endured happily, because they believed firmly that Christ would come very soon. The high spiritual norm maintained by them was achieved thanks to this vivid hope.

Is the Church Infallible?
Regarding the testimonies, nothing is ignored; nothing is cast aside; but time and place must be considered. Nothing must be done untimely. {1SM 57.2}
Seventh Day Adventists say it does not matter how far they go in apostasy, they are still the church of God. Sr White said the SDA church is not Babylon. At the time when Sr White said that, the Adventist church was still teaching correct messages. She made it clear that it was the commandment keeping people that made the church the church of God.
Again I say, The Lord hath not spoken by any messenger who calls the church that keeps the commandments of God, Babylon. {2SM 68.3}

War, Bloodshed, Pestilence
By John Thiel
I was shown the inhabitants of the earth in the utmost confusion. War, bloodshed, privation, want, famine, and pestilence were abroad in the land. As these things surrounded God’s people, they began to press together, and to cast aside their little difficulties. Self-dignity no longer controlled them; deep humility took its place. Suffering, perplexity, and privation caused reason to resume its throne, and the passionate and unreasonable man became sane, and acted with discretion and wisdom. {1T 268.1} Read the rest of this entry
The Parable of the Fig Tree
By John Thiel
When will Jesus come again? How long have these words been uttered in the ranks of Adventism. We see generation’s way back preached that Jesus would come in their life time and yet they have passed away and then their parents expected that Jesus would come in their lifetime and he didn’t. The title of this study comes almost as a mocking to many Adventists today. Is it possible that we here at such a time as this, with such a message as this could be as much disappointed that Jesus will not come in our lifetime too? The hope of the coming of Jesus has been a hope that has been carried for many generations already. Before the resurrection the disciples approached Jesus on the subject because they wanted to know.
