03 The Numbers Game

The Third Woe

By Paul Godfrey
mp3

We continue our study on the seven woes to the Pharisees and it is important to study these woes because Jesus was talking to his disciples and he said to them, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.

Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

A strong rebuke to the leaders in the days of Jesus. We know that all things happen for an example upon whom the end of the world has come. Hypocrisy the leaven of the Pharisees hasn’t actually left our world. We want to identify exactly what Jesus is saying. It is not too hard to understand exactly what he is saying. He is saying woe to the leaders because they compass and go around sea and land to make one proselyte and do we know what a proselyte is? A proselyte is someone in the days of Christ who was a gentile. To be made a proselyte was to come into the Jewish faith. They had to be circumcised but not only circumcised but they had to go through the doctrines that the Pharisees held and consent that they were true and to be willing to participate of the rituals of their faith and of their religion and then they were no longer a gentile. They were a Jew in the full meaning of the word. They were no longer classified as the seed of Abraham. Woe to the scribes and Pharisees, they go about to make one proselyte and when he is made you make him two fold more the child of hell than yourselves. Read the rest of this entry

Study 5

Jesus is coming. Do we want to be like Nehemiah? If we do it requires a strong decision to build up the old waste places. We will experience opposition if we do this work. The purpose of this seminar has not been for debating controversial issues but to set in a brief way the movement God has ordained to come out of the world. God is building His church upon the eternal rock, the rock of ages, Jesus Christ. This rock is in opposition to worldly customs and practises. Read the rest of this entry

God has a church and that church is the pillar and ground of the truth. That truth has been given in its appointed time and the possibilities were there for Christ to come back but man has sought to make improvements in various ways. While the testimony of Jesus was active in his church much advancement came but it was held in check. When the testimony of Jesus, the Spirit of Prophecy was silenced and Ellen White was laid to rest then the mice come out to play. In our last study we read a prophecy of what would happen if the desired changes would take place. Read the rest of this entry

Man always wants to make good things better but it never works. God’s eternal purpose was to bring a people out of the world in practise. They would be different in the way they looked and acted and their amusements would be different. He wanted to give them the truth that they would hold it up so all the people from the four corners of the world would see it and be drawn out. A step by step chain of truth has progressed since the closing of the 2300 days. Read the rest of this entry

We must by willing to take up our cross and deny ourselves and follow Jesus for the path of faith requires a lot of hardship. We will be tested and we tried just like Jesus. Although we are crucified with Christ nevertheless we live yet not we but Christ lives in us. The life we want to live must be lived by the faith of the Son of God. If we will not live by faith we will be overwhelmed by the troubles that Christians and non- Christians alike will receive. No one is exempt. The Christian also receives chastening from God the Father for it says that any branch that brings forth fruit is pruned so it can bring forth more fruit. God’s obedient children are still under the discipline of the loving heavenly Father. That discipline is difficult. We have the privilege of reading the things that will be done to us. We will receive persecution and dark experiences. If we read our Bibles we will see the things written a foretime are written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Romans 15:4) Jesus prayed to His Father that He would send another Comforter the Holy Ghost. Do you know why the Holy Ghost is a Comforter? It’s because He will show you everything Jesus has said and when he comes he will: Read the rest of this entry

We cannot be justified by faith until we have received the seed into our hearts. Even though the seed has not grown yet into a tall plant to bring forth fruit, everything is there. As we receive the Word of God in its entirety whether we know everything or not, by that surrender and the willingness to follow the Lamb wherever He goes we are justified. 02 A Glorious System of Truth

Study 2

The Sabbath day was given to us by God for a purpose. One of the purposes is to know he created the world in six days. It is to remind us from where we came. We can read that in Exodus 20. In Deuteronomy the reason for keeping the Sabbath is because the Lord bought us out of Egypt. The Sabbath is meant to do two things, not just to dwell upon God’s creation and his power in the origin of our world, but also to dwell upon the fact he has and is bringing us out of the world, out of Egypt. The Sabbath is a day to remember these things. He said remember the Sabbath to keep it holy because he doesn’t want us to forget the Sabbath. The LORD is really helping us with our memory. He says remember a day so we can remember our creation and our exodus out of Egypt. If we can remember the day we can remember everything else. The Bible says in Daniel 7 the dragon power will cast the truth to the ground and it will practise and prosper. As the saints were speaking together one of them asked how long would this go on for. The answer given was 2300 days then the sanctuary will be cleansed. The papal system over a period of generations pulled the truth of God down to the ground in the mind of the people. It wasn’t until the protestant reformation that there was the sound of hope. One by one the different truths started to come in their order. The truth never was restored by the protestant reformation in its entirety. Read the rest of this entry

The Name of God

By Paul Godfrey

mp3

There is a great blessing bestowed upon those who read and understand the book of Revelation. If we do this as it is in its purity we will be richly blessed but if we take something from this book, our names will be taken from the book of life. If we add to it, God will add to us the seven last plagues. In other words the book contains a huge blessing for those who read it as God intended and there is a huge curse upon those who disregard and change it. That should make us tremble. The Bible has a huge amount of power that we don’t want to disregard or read superficially. One major theme in the book of Revelation is the revelation of God’s people. As we look at the future written in this book, we can identify political financial and religious events so that we can identify where we are in relation to this book. Revelation 13 is a prophecy of the image of the beast that exercises all the power of the beast. History tells us that this beast is very terrible. The image of the beast exercises all the power of the first beast. It will command that all that don’t worship the beast to be killed. There will be no mercy in that decree. Then we come to Revelation 14:1.

False Sanctification

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: False Sanctification

The scripture declares that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it. Are you deceived? Do we know that our hearts are deceitful above all things? We acknowledge that many people in this world are deceitful. Do we acknowledge that our own hearts are deceitful above all else? There are many conspiracy theories going around today. We don’t trust people. Someone may knock at our door and we look at them sideways. We may get an email from someone we don’t know and we are afraid of picking up a virus and we don’t trust people. We think we might be deceived by everything that comes to us. Yet we trust ourselves so much. Everything else comes secondary to the deceit that lies in our own heads. An atheist was telling me that we cannot trust anything, not even our senses or perceptions. He said you sitting next to me might not really be there and my mind may be playing tricks on me. He believed that nothing was absolute, even gravity. He said we just perceive that it is. He saw that the mind was so deceitful to the extent that his own heart was deceiving him that nothing was true. Our perceptions are not reliable. There needs to be something outside our perceptions that gives a benchmark, a truth to things that are not generated from our own head or someone else’s head. This perception is what Satan has worked upon to create so much confusion in the world. This was done through a serpent. Read the rest of this entry

Jesus or Barabbas?

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: Jesus or Barabbas

Are you a believer? If you are, do you ever doubt you will be in Heaven? If you doubt, are you a believer or a doubter? It’s very easy for a believer to doubt but believers shouldn’t doubt, so that is a problem. How can we know where we stand with the Lord? Some people sincerely love the Lord yet there is a suggestion that they will not make it to heaven. The standard is very high and there is an underlying stress that they are not ready. Some don’t want Jesus to come soon because they aren’t ready. Some think they are predestined to not make it to heaven. How can we know whether we are the Lord’s or not? The Spirit of Prophecy says that the latter rain will fall on hearts all around but some will not see it or discern it. Is that you? Have you missed out? Every true Christian longs to have the Holy Spirit as the apostles had on Pentecost. Why did Jesus go to the cross? Read the rest of this entry

The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth

We need Jesus for the Bible says without him we can do nothing. Not a little bit, but nothing. It takes a bit to realise this fact because our natural heart believes it can do something. The something we think we can do is actually nothing. The Bible says we have sold ourselves for naught therefore we have nothing. Let us never think that nothing is something. If we think that something is nothing then the something is actually nothing. In Revelation chapter 3 is written the preparation we need to be fitted for the latter rain. Read the rest of this entry

The Patience of the Saints

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: The Patience of the Saints

Jesus Christ is my hero. As we look at the Bible, the photograph of his character we catch a vision of his character and we love him. He has such tremendous beauty in his character. He has such patience. Think of the time he was talking to the disciples when there were children around and they were making a lot of noise. The disciples are getting irritated and tell the children to go away. What does Jesus say? Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of heaven. He has such patience where it would annoy adults. There is another story where he was getting jostled by the crowd around him and there came a woman who touched the hem of his garment and he stopped and said, ‘who touched me?’ for he felt virtue go out of him. He was sensitive and patient enough to notice the touch of faith. This attribute is one that draws me to him when I consider my own shortcomings and failures in view of his patience. How do you feel when someone is impatient towards you? It really cramps your growth. When people in church are un-Christlike others get irritated and then they themselves become un-Christlike. We read in Revelation at the end times God’s people will be restricted from buying and selling and at that time the patience of the saints will appear. I pray that we can all admire Jesus more and be like him. God is love. Everybody likes love. What is one of the biggest ingredients in love? Read the rest of this entry

02 Shutting up the Kingdom of Heaven

The First Woe Part 2

By Paul Godfrey

mp3

A woe depicts sorrow. In the case of the Pharisees it also represented depending doom as Jesus revealed in Matthew 23 when he pronounced these scathing truth’s to the religious leaders of his day. They came in forms of woes and in many instances these woes refer to weeping and gnashing of teeth. Weeping and gnashing of teeth is always associated with religious professors because they will have the greatest suffering if they don’t live up to the light they have.

Matthew 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

24:49 And shall begin to smite [his] fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for [him], and in an hour that he is not aware of,

24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint [him] his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Read the rest of this entry

A Warning

Often on the gate of a yard you will see a sign saying ‘Beware of the Dog’. Most people are often wary of the dog because if they go in they expect the dog to come out and eat them up. It is very unwise to neglect a warning sign.

Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Read the rest of this entry

Did Jesus Need to Study the Bible?

By Paul Godfrey

We need to look to Jesus in order to know how to exercise faith.

What is our hope? Jesus Christ, the hope of glory to have Christ within us. Belief is receiving into the heart those things that God has given us. The grace of God is the Holy Spirit, the gift that comes as a result of receiving the gift of Jesus Christ. By the Holy Spirit are given more gifts. The law are principles of behaviour, instinctive or written. Works are the product of the work that is done. We are created in Jesus Christ unto good works. Read the rest of this entry

01 What is Faith? Defining the Terms

Living Faith Seminar

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: Defining the Terms

It is my personal desire to be ready when Jesus comes. I desire that we can all be translated. The day of the Lord is something that Christians look forward to but it is actually a day of wrath. At such a time when the consequences get unleashed upon the heads of those who do not regard God, it is a dreadful day. It’s called the day of God’s wrath. It’s a day of darkness. Who shall abide in the day of His coming? Who shall stand at the day of His appearing? There was a man who was translated, Enoch. He had this testimony, that he pleased God. Of all the times, it is best to please God in the day of His wrath. By faith Enoch was translated. If we desire to be translated, it must also be by faith.

The Exhaustless Word of God

Enough about Saturday, What about the Rest?

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: Enough about Saturday

The Sabbath Rest

It would be a fearful thing to have been observing the Sabbath day all your life and find out that you never entered into the rest. There are people who say that we don’t need to keep the Sabbath day because that’s works. Well if you don’t enter into the rest it is works. But if you have entered into the rest, then it is not works, it’s rest. No one can conclude that resting is working because it’s not, it’s the exact opposite of it. Nevertheless there are people that know that fact and endeavour to observe Saturday or Sabbath and yet failed to enter into the rest. Therefore that is then works. The rest I want to talk about today is more than the mere physical rest than the Sabbath day because it is standard practice for Seventh Day Adventists to stop their daily labour on Friday after noon and observes the day of physical rest from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset but the rest that the Bible is talking about is far more than that. It includes a double application, a double blessing on the Sabbath day which is physical to testify to the spiritual. Therefore we need to fear lest we fail to enter into the rest. The Perfect Will of God

By Paul Godfrey

Audio: The Perfect Will of God

A man had two sons. The eldest after much persuasion received permission to undertake and engage in some perilous activity. In doing so, the eldest son almost lost his life. As he returned he repented against his constant persistence against his father’s will. The second son seeing the activities of his older brother ventured off to the same thing. The father rebuked his son and told him not to go. He scorned the rebuke. The young son said my brother has done this. The father said such was not my perfect will.
