It is my prayer we can see the beautiful rainbow of God’s word and how it is perfectly united. The subject of this sermon is divorce and remarriage. It is a subject that is in debate today and it was in debate in the time of Christ. Nothing has changed, we are still here. Jesus had finished his ministry in Galilee and he was passing through Perea on his way to Jerusalem. It was his last visit before he was crucified. On the way the Pharisees came to him. The Pharisees were the leaders of Israel. Amongst the leaders there were the Pharisee’s and Sadducees and they had different ideas on the interpretation on the Old Testament. One of the debates they had was the interpretation of Deuteronomy 24. Every time there was a point of controversy, the Pharisees and Sadducees were very happy to come to Jesus to see what he had to say because if he said something wrong, they would get him. This is the background of Jesus being asked a question. These Pharisees as the Word of God says have come to Jesus to tempt him because John the Baptist had a position on divorce and remarriage. When you look through the tempting of the Pharisees and the leaders upon Jesus, they were always trying to get John and Jesus to be separate in their beliefs. They came knowing what John had done in preaching which caused his death so in the middle of this they said let’s go to Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

4. Restoration of the Marriage Institution

We are to study Gods word in such a way that the truth that we embrace is found in a frame work of truth rather than isolated truths and statements dependent upon other statements to understand a complete frame work of truth. There is a danger of studying the bible from a legal view point as we are to study it from a view point of Jesus Christ. In the last days Jesus will have a people approved of God and as a consequence they will be a company that restores all things. Those who are approved of me will restore all things. To be of that company requires us to have a relationship with Jesus. As we are endeavouring to be part of a company that restores all things, we apply ourselves to that and allow nothing to interfere. To be restorers of paths to dwell in one of the paths we need to be restoring is the path of marriage. The restoration of the marriage institution. As we contemplate this work under the messages of the three angels messages, we know they are the very messages that the remnant of Gods people are actually pursuing and nothing was permitted for the genuine three angels messages people to interfere in their work.
