Finding True Fulfilment in a Relationship with God
John Thiel

There are all sorts of things in the world today that make you sad. One thing today is family dysfunction. There is global disaster where ever you look. We are protected here in Australia but in many places there is constant conflict and difficulty. There are many social disappointments even in the church. When we have looked for something to satisfy our selfish desires, we become disappointed with our desires of relationships that don’t work out as hoped. The wars in the world destroy natural and social events. There is a great amount of social insecurity. Where do these things come from? What is the source of these disasters and disappointments? The curse causeless does not come.

God Dealings With the Nations

Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Scripture Reading: Acts 7:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
17:25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: Read the rest of this entry
07 How to Keep Church Financial Records
By Tannie Kinnon
I was shown the great deficiency there is in keeping the accounts in the various departments of the cause. Bookkeeping is and ever will be an important part of our work, and those who have become intelligent in it are greatly needed in all our institutions. . . . This branch of the work has been neglected shamefully, and altogether too long. It is a shame to allow work of such magnitude to be done in a defective, bungling manner. God wants as perfect work as it is possible for human beings to do. . . . Bookkeeping is a subject that needs to be studied in order that it may be done with correctness and dispatch and without worry and taxation.–Lt 63, 1886. (Quoted in Ellen G. White in Europe 249.) {PaM 255.2}

Money is always one of those subjects which is looked upon with a business mind where people think the church is just making money of us but it is something much loftier than that. When the early church was established, where did their financial situations come into consideration? Apostle Peter was preaching under the power of the Holy Spirit and the impact of that took place. Why the Feast Days are Not to be Kept in Type Anymore
By Michael Cudmore
And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:13-27 Read the rest of this entry

The Church Triumphant in Prophecy
John Thiel

Previous studies have shown that to be candidates of the church triumphant we need to reach certain qualifications of which these qualifications were enlarged. We also saw the need of submitting to the counsel of men and women of years of experience in the Lord if we will be of such a church. This study concludes this focus with a study of the church triumphant in prophecy. As previously studied, this church is a very difficult one to join and be part of. We tend to be in a time right now that is very perplexing. We live in perplexing times when it comes to identifying God’s church today and recognising such a church. The perplexing detail is expressed in Matthew 24. Jesus is speaking in reference to our time; Read the rest of this entry

Scripture Reading: Psalm 25:4 Show me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou [art] the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
“Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom, lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home; lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see,
The distant scene; one step enough for me.” Read the rest of this entry
07 Pastoring the Flock
Missionary Training Seminar
Study 7
By John Thiel
When we talk of pastor, we are talking of shepherd as that what a pastor is; a shepherd. In the previous subjects that we have covered, we saw that when a person commences as a servant of God, he must have something to give. We learnt that the only way to give is to receive it and to receive it I must be aware of my undone and hopeless condition. In that humiliated condition the Lord can use me. Of this kind of initiation in the Lord’s work, Apostle Peter is a prime example. What does it mean to be a pastor? Peter identifies himself as an elder as well as those that he is speaking to.
05 Administering Church Membership
Missionary Training Seminar
Study 5
By John Thiel

“Christ for the world we sing,
The world to Christ we bring, with joyful song;
The newborn souls, whose days, reclaimed from error’s ways,
Inspired with hope and praise, to Christ belong.”
Once we have brought souls in, they have been found, they have been won and now we want to keep them. They have been reclaimed from errors ways and we are now looking at the subject of administering church membership. We study with them to bring them to conversion and new birth and then they become church members. We are to now administer church membership. What is church membership? Is it not becoming part of the body of Christ? In our labour of souls we have brought them to the point if they have really been baptised, if self has died and they have risen as new born people, through the studies we have brought them through, they now should have found a living experience through Jesus. The question is now, how to go on from here? They have been brought to an understanding and process of Bible studies, is there anything more to gain? Read the rest of this entry
03 Methods to Find Interested Souls
Missionary Training Seminar
Study 3
By John Thiel
There are four main points of our study. We must have something in order to gain souls and now we are going to consider how to find souls, how to win souls and how to keep them. We must understand the time in which we are living in. It is the time of the closing of the world’s history. The work of finding interested souls has been taking place over a long period of time. Now the most pressing work is to glean. We’ve been living in the time of the harvest for a long time. The harvest has been reaped but at the end of the harvest they were to glean the last grains of wheat. Not a grain was lost. We have the work of gleaning the last few people that will respond to God’s message. When we discover how sinful we are, we will have compassion on others. Read the rest of this entry
04 Developing Interested Souls for Baptism
Missionary Training Seminar
Study 4
By John Thiel
This aspect of our seminar is now to develop the interested souls for baptism. We have learnt how to arouse their interest and that is to do with how to find them. Now that you found them, once you have captivated an interest, you then want to win them to a final decision. If you have captivated an interest they will say to you, I want more information, I want Bible study. When you have them at that position, now you have a prospective candidate for baptism. When a person asks for Bible studies, you have a positive candidate. Why do I say this? Bible study produces something. Read the rest of this entry

Membership in the Church Triumphant

Ephesians 5:25 Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Read the rest of this entry
