The Strife of Tongues

By John Thiel

To provoke worship of our heavenly father, we consider Psalms.  Consider the person who wrote this Psalm.  You know all about him don’t you?  Notice what he says as he contemplates his Lord and Father in Heaven; Read the rest of this entry

4. Restoration of the Marriage Institution

John Thiel

mp3

We are to study Gods word in such a way that the truth that we embrace is found in a frame work of truth rather than isolated truths and statements dependent upon other statements to understand a complete frame work of truth. There is a danger of studying the bible from a legal view point as we are to study it from a view point of Jesus Christ. In the last days Jesus will have a people approved of God and as a consequence they will be a company that restores all things as He says, “Those who are approved of me will restore all things.” To be of that company requires us to have a relationship with Jesus. As we are endeavouring to be part of a company that restores all things, we apply ourselves to that and allow nothing to interfere. Read the rest of this entry

Appetite and Passion

Introduction – Perfect Character

“The knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ, expressed in character, is an exaltation above everything that is esteemed in earth or in heaven. It is the very highest education. It is the key that opens the portals of the heavenly city.” 6T 97.1 Read the rest of this entry

Diligence in the New Birth

By John Thiel

Audio: Diligence in the New Birth

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

When we were baptised that was meant to be a public confession that I am born again.  The hymn ‘I will follow thee my Saviour’ denotes what is in the heart of the person baptised in Jesus Christ.  A commitment, is in these words, ‘I will follow thee wheresoever my lot my be, where thou goest I will follow’.  Through tribulation, temptation, affliction, poverty, a sense of forsaking all and destitution I will follow thee though all men forsake thee, by thy grace I will follow thee.  New birth is a condition that has caused such words to be uttered. 4. The Rising of the Church Triumphant

The Two Houses of Israel

Study 4

Audio: The Rising of the Church Triumphant

We have scanned prophecy as briefly as possible. We have illuminated the dark points of the church and how the prophecy led them out of that darkness. We notice that Isaiah 8:13-14 was repeated again and again. It was displayed before us as being an event before future generations.

Isaiah 8:13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and [let] him [be] your fear, and [let] him [be] your dread. Read the rest of this entry

3. The Church of That Other Angel

The Two Houses of Israel

Study 3

By John Thiel

Audio: The Church of that Other Angel

The angel represents the ministry as per Ephesians 4. It’s active in saving Gods people. The Jews were active in saving the people at the time of Christ. In our last study we beheld Gods church of 1844 proceeding to a point in time in which they fail to repent and are spewed out by Jesus Christ. Here Jesus is speaking to his church in his time that was on its way out. The spirit of prophecy speaks the same of the Adventist church today. Read the rest of this entry

Simon, the Angel and the Bibbulmun Track Part 2

I came to an understanding very quickly when I started reading the Bible. Prior I had a bit of an interest in the Bible. An interest that was squarely based on personal amusement. I used to enjoy perusing the book and finding odd chestnuts contained therein. What chestnuts there are. Sodomy, bestiality, incest, drunkenness, debauchery, whore-mongering, self-abuse, murder, swindling, intrigue and deceit. You name it but every single facet of the twisted dung heap of the human personality is represented. It made for a fun read. But to me that was all it was, fun, I never actually read it, I merely scanned it looking for the juicy bits. Read the rest of this entry

The Spirit of Contrition

Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. How to Die With Jesus

By John Thiel

Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

6:13 Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God. Read the rest of this entry

The Sweetest Words on Earth

By Camron Schofield

Audio The Sweetest Words on Earth

He speaks and the sound of his voice is so sweet, the birds hush their singing.  The voice of Jesus is so sweet that even creation stops to listen. Are we his creation?  Do we stop to listen to his voice?  There is a time coming when there will be a voice spoken and those who have not stopped to listen to his voice will then be forced to hear it.  That word that will be spoken will be the words my grace is sufficient for thee and that voice will glorify the redeemed and raise the righteous.  Read the rest of this entry

The prophecies of Daniel and Revelation unfolded to William Miller which included the hour of Gods judgement had come and the sanctuary being cleansed in Daniel 8:14. The 2300 day prophesy, what a revelation. If you were living in his time, what a thrill. Who accepted it? William Miller was a very isolated person until it gathered momentum. The study of the judgement and the second angel’s messages in that time were being activated. Read the rest of this entry

God Dwells Not In Temples Made With Hands

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream [is] certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. The Eastern Question and the King of the North

Compiled by Sabbath Sermon

Sunday morning the weather was still cloudy, but before it was time for the people to assemble the sun shone forth. Boats and trains poured their living freight upon the ground, as was the case last year. Elder Smith spoke in the morning upon the Eastern question. The subject was of special interest, and the people listened with the most earnest attention. It seemed to be just what they wanted to hear. {RH, September 6, 1877 par. 11} She also said;

5. Daniel 11 – The Covenant Affected by Rome

By John Thiel

Audio: The Covenant Affected by Rome

In our previous studies in this Daniel 11 series we have seen how Gabriel worked behind the scenes together with Michael the Archangel (see Daniel 10:12-14, 21). Michael and Gabriel orchestrated very systematically the events of the fall of the Grecian Empire and the rising of the Roman Empire. The reign of Augustus Caesar the raiser of the taxes brought in the opportunity for Jesus Christ to be born in the Augustan golden era of the Roman Empire (see Luke 2:1-7). Gabriel was the one who was talking to Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist and then to Mary. Gabriel was working with the people that were to be particularly involved with the birth of Jesus. Jesus finally came down, Michael the archangel as a little babe in this drama of earth’s history working on the hearts and lives of the human race towards a particular and ultimate objective. Jesus lived for thirty whole years before he commenced his ministry. During those thirty years, what happened in the Roman government? Read the rest of this entry

Did Jesus Have Tendencies to Sin?

By Larry Kirpatrick

The evidence appears to more than suggest that Jesus indeed have such tendencies. But never did He ever follow them or permitted them to develop into actual sin. He ever remains our sinless Saviour!

“Coming as He did, as a man, to meet and be subjected to, with all the evil tendencies to which man is heir, working in every conceivable manner to destroy His faith, He made it possible for Himself to be buffeted by human agencies inspired by Satan.” Letter K-303, 1903, quoted in Adventist Review 17 February 1994 Read the rest of this entry
